Catalonia Playa Maroma: Had a very nice time at this resort but...

We had a very good time in Mexico but I'd like to point out a few things: -We were given a very nice room on the 3rd floor (but too much to walk up the stairs) on building 3 -The restaurants had average food -we mostly ate at the buffet and ate 2 nights at the a la carte Tortuga, which is a Steakhouse - loved the meat! as there are no reservations to these type of restaurants in this hotel-it tends to get crowded when you arrive there. It is not very well organized. -The beach was the best!!!!  [... read more]Playa Maroma is by far better than Playa Paraiso where the Iberostars are located (10-15 minutes walk)!!! no rocks, water less choppy and a powder sand!! note that only the Privileged are of the beach has palapas; the other area has only palm trees for shade. -Wi-Fi - available in all the resort for free, even at the beach!-sometimes can be slow -Night entertainment: this is not a resort if you want entertainment - they have some music on some days at the lobby but was very disappointed that on a Friday night they did not even have that. The theatre mainly shows kids's productions and are shown late-don't know why. Not much to do at night. -Resort is very clean and well kept -75% of the guests were European - we were the only Canadians to arrive on the 17/5 at night. -We did not go into the pool -Beds are very comfortable and you have a menu of pillows if you are on the Privileged plan.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort next to Xcaret Park!

Had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful resort. The grounds were very tropical and well laid out. The food and drinks were very good and lots of selection. Staff were amazing. The beach was nice however I would have liked a bigger one for walking. Enjoyed the adult area with the salt water pool. Rooms were fine. Liked the easy access to Xcaret Park. Went on an excursion there in the past. Love this park, especially the show at night about the history of Mexico.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fabulous Trip! Amazing Resort!

My husband and I travelled with our 2 teenage daughters and had a fabulous trip! The resort is huge and we loved that we could go to the Tulum and Akumel resorts to eat, swim, etc. It was nice to try different places every day. We had absolutely no problem staying at the Coba, which was a bit further back because the trollies were available all the time. The food was fabulous at all the buffets, snack bars and a la carte's. There was nothing we ate that we didn't like. The buffets were huge and  [... read more]had so much variety. The resort was spotless and our rooms were quite large and very clean. We ended up getting 2 rooms side by side on the top floor (as we had requested) so that was nice. They had a welcome sign and balloons on both our doors and a Bahia Principe T-shirt for all of us on the bed when we arrived. Not sure if that is a standard thing or if it was because we mentioned it was our daughter's 16th birthday, but that was a nice touch. The staff was friendly and were always there to serve you. The animation team was wonderful and always got my girls involved in activities, which made it fun for them. The grounds were spotless - the landscapers were out every day ensuring everything was perfect. Considering the size of the resort, the staff was on top of everything. The food at the buffet was always replenished quickly if things ran out and all public areas were very clean. The only complaint we have about the resort is that everything closed down at 11:00. They turn off all the lights and stop serving drinks, which we found a bit strange for people vacationing. If you wanted to stay up and have a drink in the lobby or at any of the other bars, you couldn't do that. The only place that was open later was the disco, but if you didn't want to go there, there was no where to go. Besides that, the beach was very nice and there was always something to do, which is important for teenagers, as they get bored easily. We also "swam with the dolphins" right in the resort. They have a Dolphinarium right in the Tulum resort, so we booked it from home ahead of time, which was half the price, rather than booking it at the resort. We took the trolly to the Tulum resort that morning, which took 5 minutes - it was nice that we didn't have to drive anywhere. It was an amazing experience and would recommend it. This was definitely one of the best vacations we've had as a family and we would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: A Beautiful Resort

This is a beautiful resort. The grounds are clean, the pools are beautiful and clean (and there are lots of them), the dining experience is amazing with lots of variety to choose from. An amazing family resort!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Amazing Stay at the Valentin

Best resort we have been to... out of a group of 10 or so. Staff very much in-lined with the 'what else can we do for you, can we give you more' attitude. 24 Hr room service was great with full menu available in room... amazing restaurants, great atmosphere.

Catalonia Yucatan: Catalonia Yucatan Resort

We stayed at the Catalonia Yucatan resort from May 1st to 8th. It was a very nice resort, lots of pools, lots of chairs at the beach or pool, great food and service and lots of activities not too far from the resort. The only thing was that the resort is far from the Cancun airport and we were dissapointed with the beach. But other than that it was great!

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Excellence Riviera Cancun is EXCELLENT!

Perfect vacation. Regular room was large & nice, many pools and chairs to chose from, food delish, room service delish, perfect size resort, beautiful beach, premium alcohol, staff so friendly and accomodating, 20 min from airport. Higher cost resort but well worth it. This resort will not disappoint.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Awesome

The resort and facilities were awesome. The fact that you can utilize the neighboring facilities is a great benefit. The dining options were exceptional. The beach was a little rocky. As I was in a group of smokers the cigar bar was great - as a non smoker the air exchange was incredible, no smoke at all and the maritini's were awesome!! I would highly recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Feb 2014 trip to Barcelo Beach Premium

Overall vacation/resort was very good, this was our 4th trip to Barceló in the Mayan Riviera. Premium club was very impressive and worth the extra $$$. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were always courteous and helpful. Upgrades to the Resort were very nice and classic Mexican. I would travel here again. I would like to see an improvement in the selection and variety in food.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Place for Peace and Quiet

This hotel is excellent if you need to get away from stress, it is very quiet, no kids, the restaurant is amazing, the a la carte are great. If you need excitement you can always get on the shuttle and go to the sister resorts. The lush garden setting is like tranquilty.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Wonderfully Romantic Destination!

We simply loved the laid back atmosphere, excellent service and first rate accommodations. The grounds are beautiful and the pools are huge! We really enjoyed the fact that it never feels crowded. There is a large variety in food choices and the quality is first rate. We have been back twice and would happily go again!

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Great Family Resort!

We had a great time at this resort in April 2014 with 2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 3. We truly really enjoyed everything about the resort. The kids had a blast at the splash pad, on the waterslides and at the kids club. We all loved the nightly shows, the food and the grounds. It was clean, well maintained and large enough to keep you busy. Yes, there was a lot of walking, but we like larger resorts. There was so much to do.... the beach is gorgeous, nice and long, and we loved all of the wood [... read more] walking trails. I would definitely recommend this resort to a family travelling with young kids. We are already talking about going back next year.

Allegro Playacar: LOve the resort

Really nice resort, small and very clean. Food was good, not too much variation for vegetarian. Loved the guacamole and salsa. The beach is sooo nice , you can walk for hours, enjoyed going to the very end for a Yoga session. 20 minutes walked to the Fifth Avenue, lots of shopping there. Enjoyed the ambiance and the VIP treatment. Staff is very pleasant. I recommend this resort.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fabulous Time, Gorgeous Resort!

The hotel was gorgeous, very clean, friendly staff, the a la cart restaurants were fabulous. Beach was clean and lots of room and chairs. The room was exactly as seen on the internet, very clean but agree the bed was hard... we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others to holiday at this resort and I would come back :)

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: great resort

Hotel is very clean, excellent drinks, food. Rooms nice and clean. Have to take trolley to beach. Private area for adults only. I never found it an issue. Always ride available. I never golfed so cannot rate it. I am a bahia principe fan and have been to slot of the resorts. Can never go wrong.

Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa: Fine

We were very impressed. Grounds were extremely well groomed and the staff could not do enough for you. It was so nice to be able to walk about and not have to rely on a trolley system. Only negative was the distance from the airport.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very Nice Experience

This is our fist time in Mexico but definitely not our last time. The staff in this resort are very helpful and friendly. Our son got sick during our stay but with their help and quick response my son was able to get to the doctor fast enough. The food was great with lots of varieties. Would like to go back sometime in the future.

Catalonia Yucatan: Wonderful place

We had a wonderful week away from Canadian early spring weather. The location is great, - very secure, clean, not far from touristy attractions (Tulum. Rio Secreto, amusement parks), plus it is in a gated community with a little marina, museum, and dolphinarium, - you can have a little walk to see dolphins, local restaurants, and shops (we did) . The beach is gre [... read more]at, yet rocky, watershoes help a lot. You can buy them in a little store right in the resort. The reef is dead though, not so much to see if you are a snorkeler. The staff is very helpful and hardworking; oh boy those little Mayan people move fast!!! My husband is a hard tipper, but he could not resist to express his appreciation. We had lovely dinners in a la carte restaurants (Japanese, Mexican, and Italian); menus were not very big, but food was great. Cooks in Japanese restaurant are very entertaining, worth to see. Do not forget to ask for deserts! They were pieces of art in Italian and Mexican restaurants, and very delicious too. The crepes in a little cafe were very good too, we had them for few dinners, also this crepe cafe had a very nice cappuccino. Sadly, there are not so many places (better to say almost none, only the crepe bar which was open after 5 pm only) to get a decent cap of coffee. We stayed in a basic room, which suited our needs (we went there only to sleep), beds were comfortable, no problems with water, cleaning, towels etc. Overall, we have been very happy with our resort choice, and highly recommend this resort.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Decent resort

The place was nice. The rooms were clean and the food was good. The beaches were a little crowded, and it was often hard to get a chair/hut on the beach. I would go again, but likely at an off-season time (I went over March break).

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Our Mexican home away from home

“Our Mexican home away from home” Stayed November 14th to 25th (Celebrated both our 33rd wedding anniversary & my birthday) My husband and I stayed here on our very first all inclusive vacation back in 2005. This past trip was our 9th GBP vacation and we will be booking #10 next spring. We have also been to the GBP Puerto Plata location once, and Punta Cana's Luxury Ambar four times. What we know for sure is this hotel chain knows how to treat their repeat guests so well that they want to [... read more] return to "their home away from home". We are still very impressed with the whole layout and beauty of the hotel, rooms are clean and they have all the basics things you would expect. There is a large selection of both the buffet food, and also all the a la carte choices. We like that so many activities are available, and that the nightly shows are so enjoyable. The staff is always courteous, and the service is always quick. The only cons that we could come up with is that compared to 10 years ago the hotel has really cut back on the selection of toiletries you used to get in the optional upgrade "Golden Section" rooms that are located near the quiet pool that we always book, you can no longer have wine or cava (sparkling white wine) at any of the beach bars, and as of this year you can no longer prebook your a la carte restaurant preferences in advance via e-mail. Some vacationers feel that the hotel is too far from the airport and I do get that a 90 minute transfer is longer compared to hotels located closer to the airport, though what you learn after visiting just once is that there are so many things nearby to do that it's really an excellent location. We take the local collectivo and do things on our own rather than paying a higher cost of booking a tour which gives us the freedom to do things on our own time schedule which we much prefer. Even if you never leave the hotel there are many things to do. Here are some suggestions for first time guests: - Sign out a bicycle and ride around the resort - Climb up the lookout tower (take a selfie just for fun) - Play a game of ping pong, or pool - Go see the free short dolphin show (ask for the show time) - Treat yourself to the Mexican Fiesta show (additional charge) - Lay in a hammock (place your beach towel done first) - Get on a tram just to ride around and see more of the hotel layout. - check out a different pool just for a change of scenery and different ambiance. - play water volleyball (consult activity schedule for the time) - sign out snorkel equipment (or just stand in the ocean around the pier and the fish swim all around you,) - follow the shoreline going south and you will come to a bay that is very nice for photos and you can cool off in the water. (must wear shoes and bring water) - sip a drink and "people watch" - talk to other guests they may have some suggestions or helpful tips. The staff really are fantastic and very hardworking. We highly recommend and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
