Melia Peninsula Varadero: Melia Peninsula Varadero

I have always liked this Hotel, this was 8th or 9th time to Cuba, and this is one of the few hotels I would go back to. This was our second time there and the staff have always been great ,and service is always out standing. Never went hungry and had a great time as always.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: We will not return.

We went to Varadero in March 2014. I understand the long line up to eat because it was during March Break but we did have to also wait in line for a plate because there were no clean ones available. This was a daily occurrence. I don't agree with our room being dirty when we arrived and for the week we were there. It was like pulling teeth to get our room cleaned and receive the drinks in the fridge.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Cuba Surprise

The resort is very large, lots of walking or trolley if you can get one. The grounds were very well maintain. Room were large, clean, satisfactory Breakfast buffet was very plentiful, if you could find something to eat you are very fussy. Lots of fresh fruit, several made to order grills for eggs, pancakes, etc. The snack bar by the pool had burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and the fries were very good and lots of them for light lunch Supper buffet was very satisfactory, beside the usual hot pots t [... read more]hey were cooking fresh grill fish filets, shrimp, calmari, kabobs and always roast chicken. The fresh grilled food was very good, satisfied my cravings. The live Entertainment at the mid courtyard in the evening was very enjoyable. Take the double decker bus to Varadero, it was worth the $5 all day cost. Try the Lobster House in town for a steak/lobster tail, take Canadian at par.

Hotel Bella Costa: needs updating

my room leaked and I had a lake in it (literally) almost the whole time I was there....I had to call the front dest 4x to get someone to come and deal with it....they did not move me to a better room, so I had a lake again the next time it rained - it was coming from the ceiling in both the bedroom and bathroom(disgusting). Hard beds, old furnishings, very dated. Most staff were very friendly, but the hotel was not well run and if you had a question or complaint, it would take hours or days to h [... read more]ear back on it.

Playa Caleta: Not Bad!

If you expect to stay at a 5 star for a 3 star price, pay the extra. I was overall pleased with the hotel, staff and food. I am not a fussy person and spend most of my time on the beach or exploring. The upper bar was the happening spot, the night shows are typical, the people are always awesome. I most enjoyed the Chinese restaurant. You have the option to use the hotel next door if you choose. Palma Real: Needs TLC

We have gone to this resort twice in the past over 5 years ago and loved it. Our third time in March 2014, not so good! This resort is very run down. They have not kept it up over the years. The pool decks were pebbly, cracked, not good for walking in bare feet. The food was awful, even the a la cartes. I can't stress enough how terrible it was, so dissappointed. Not sure what happened to this place, I think it went under new management that obviously doesn't care about the place. I do not recommend this resort to any one.

Starfish Varadero: You get what you pay for. Don't pay too much here

Its not a bad hotel but its old and run down.I have been there twice. The staff are great but they don't have much to work with if you want luxury its not for you but the beach is perfect and you won't starve if your OK with beans rice chicken pork and fish. Breakfast was always fairly good a lot of the bars were closed when we were there at the end of April and most of the guest were Cubans which I kinda enjoyed. They need to get rid or a bunch of cats! I personally would consider going here again.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great but too many mosquitoes

Everything was great, except, there were too many mosquitoes. We only had one or two mosquitoes in our room, but, in the evenings when you were trying to enjoy the great entertainment around the resort, mosquitoes made it impossible. They really need to spray. Other than that everything was wonderful.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great Holiday

This was my second to Iberostar Laguna Azul. It is simply one of the very best Cuba has to offer. Great room, always clean. Great staff, always friendly. Food was good. Resort itself is super clean and beautiful. Loved the disco, but should be open later. Restaurants were good but could always improve.

Resonance Blu Varadero: it was ok if you know what i mean.

customer service was not good , tv was not working good and it was world cup baby , horrible tv experience , food was like in every resort I hear in cuba , since it was my first time in cuba bad , I ate to survive but food has no flavor mainly , you still can find couple things in the buffet restaurant .I had bad experience in the order from menu restaurant , long wait and you will eat something different from buffet , to my amazement they served same food that you can eat in the buffet , that w [... read more]as a kill , iam talking about Japanese , and Cuban and etc. restaurant . I have to say one good thing about the resort that is the beach was great , dint jump in the pools since I didn't like them, water to the waist comparing to other resorts where they have Olympic size pools.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: great resort

The nightly entertainment was excellent. The specialty restaurants were awesome. The staff was very friendly. The Caribbean night and carnival was an excellent touch to the resort. The water sports were excellent.

Grand Memories Varadero: Another day in paradise!

This was my first trip to Cuba, and my friend with whom I was travelling had stayed at this Riu the year before and loved it. Our arrival was seamless: we were greeted outside the airport and bussed to the resort. After being trollied to our deluxe section lobby, where we were served complimentary drinks, we were brought to our massive suite, with a view of the pool. I didn't really go to Cuba to travel, so the quiet disco was fine with me, I heard complaints that it wasn't feisty enough, but it is really easy to get to Varadero clubs from the resort. Pool games were hilarious, I didn't take part but enjoyed watching the crazy games from afar, daquiri-in-hand. The beach could get busy, but not unbearable, plus the view was terrific. All in all, an amazing place to stay!

Hotel Tuxpan: terrible experience

overall terrible. food was horrid, water supply was little no none, food is left out in heat all day - got sick. rooms smelt mouldy, too many local people hanging around resort, besides the beach being the only attraction it was a terrible experience - its over rated - only a 2 star at best

Barcelo Solymar: Loved it!

Although the rooms inside that actual hotel were gross and do not recommend them, the bungalows were really good. We got upgraded due to cockroaches in our room so that was the only negative thing. We went during spring break and we met so many amazing people and a lot of Canadians who we have stayed in contact with. We partied every night with at least 20 people. There are 3 clubs within walking distance that were great and only a can ride away from the club cave which was so fun! They had 2 beach parties at our hotel while we were there and they were a blast! Food was so-so but I am a very picky eater and yet I did just fine. Eggs, sweets, pasta, fruit and fries is what I ate that week. Definitely bring your own junk food as well though. Two resorts are in one and they say you can't have access to both but we all did. You can eat at that resort too if you want to switch it up. The one is all families and children and the other resort was all 20s and 30s. Staff was okay but could be a bit better and wifi is not great! You have to pay for it and they only have so many cards to give out a day and once they are gone then you are screwed. We did a jeep tour which was really fun as well. Overall, your trip is what you make it and I have been to a lot of places but this was my favour place hands down! Many things can ruin the fun but when you are with awesome people, on a beautiful beach and have unlimited drinks then what could be better?

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Simply wooooowwww

Food was great ,best so far in Varadero ,staff was exselent , but best of all beautiful beach and ocean. Great times. For people who love cats there are two cats in 24 h restoran and 3 cats on the beach. Please give them some food. I recommend this resort and have a good time.

Paradisus Varadero: Excellent Resort, Melia does it again...

We traveled to Cuba for the first time April 5-12 2014 and stayed at the Paradisus Varadero Resort. The resort was recommended to us by travel agent @ Tripcentral.ca (Karol Chareza - who has always stirred us to awesome resorts). We were excited and had high expectations as we stayed at the Melia Resort in Punta Cana a few years ago and loved it - we were not disappointed! We especially want to thank Norsey and Yandl (our butlers) for making everything a touch above. A couple of points about the resort - what a beach, wow it was incredible, water and sand was great, you could walk for hours and always chairs and shade available when needed. Not once did we have to wait in a line, something I didn't realize until we got home :)! The rooms in the Royal Service were spacious very clean and the huge water jet tub and outdoor shower amazing. A big thank you to our house keeper (room 3334) very sweet and hard working. The bartender in Royal Service always with a smile and yummy coffee ready to roll for our early morning walk along the beach was wonderful. So all in all we were extremely happy and would highly recommend the Paradisus Varadero!!! Melia resorts are our Resort chain destination we always look for first when planning a vacation - we always come away with such great vacation memories!!! Thank you Karol, Paradisus and Melia Resorts, and thank you Cuba, the people and service outstanding.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Resort

Wonderful holiday, resort is big but we like to walk (there are carts that go around) Food was great, entertainment was SUPER, staff was great, we had lots of fun. Easy to grab a bus to go into Varadero, we'd recommend this resort

Resonance Blu Varadero: First time in Cuba & lost my phone.

Went to Night Club in the city on first night,someone pickpocket my HTC One, my suggestion if you Wana travel there buy $ store items so if you loose it you don't need to worry about it, Resort lot to do down there, Michael Jackson night is the best. Plenty of foods to eat, must take the beer jug with you coz there beer cups are only two sips & then will will be waiting in line to get another one, lots of activities around the main pool, if you like do party then you should stay near the city, M [... read more]emories is little bit far, but you can buy ticket for bus for $5 which is vailid for all day, bus will get to city around 35 mins, this is a big resort, lot to do, people are friendly, Will travel again but without my cellphone.

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing resort

Great party place for young people, great people , staff etc! You won't regret it. The food is as good as it gonna get in Cuba , unless you actually leave the resort scene. Awesome location near clubs !

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing Resort

Everything was great, the food, drinks and entertainment. Ocean was beautiful and snorkelling was fun. Rooms were very clean and staff was friendly. I plan on returning every 6 mths to this resort only. Best value for your money!!
