If it wasn’t for the Spring Breaker’s vulgarity and inappropriate behaviour I would give this resort an amazing review. I believe these student trips should only be allowed to be at an adult only resort. My children and others heard profanity, wet tee-shirt contests etc. Loved the beach, service, food.... but would never go here again, as I’m a teacher and can only go during March Break. I would recommend ONLY if it’s not during February or March when Spring Breakers are on there “Sâ€[... read more] trips.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Excellent Resort
This was my second time at this resort I would recommend this hotel. All the staff was amazing excellent service. The beach was clean and beautiful, allot of beach chairs available . The beach bar was excellent great staff and snack bar had amazing hamburgers at lunch. The rooms were very clean comfort beds but could use some upgrading. Buffet had a good variety of foods with theme nights. There is 3 restaurants to dine at all excellent and guest services book the reservations all at once for th[... read more]e week so no standing in line everyday to hopefully get a spot for dinner ! No complaints I will definitely return to this resort !

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Not too happy
The rooms really need to be updated!! The housekeeper skills could definitely be improved! The food was pretty good for the most part. The beach was very nice! Didn’t find the staff to be all that friendly! We have done a lot of traveling, first time to the Bahamas, would go back but not to this resort!

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Family Vacation to remember
Was at this resort mid January with spouse and our 2 teenage daughters. Check in was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. We waited in line for an hour to check in; then waited in a bathroom line up to change into our bathing suits. Then went back after 3 to get our room keys.
We had an ocean view room - the view was fantastic. Bed was very uncomfortable and room can still use some improvements. My daughters had a garden view room that was very outdated, bed uncomfortable and could hear everyt[... read more]hing in the next room to them. The would not accommodate us to have them in the same building we we’re in. There is no servers for alcohol around pool, beach or restaurants.
Drinks and food we’re fantastic! Animation team and games we’re fun! Do join in the games, aqua fit, archery etc - we had so much fun and met a lot of great people.
If you like to walk the beach it’s fantastic to walk; there’s even a place called Cleveland’s along the way to stop and have a drink in the afternoon.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Average resort
My husband and I travelled with our 5 year old son along with another family consisting of husband, wife, 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son
We stayed at the resort Jan 19 - 26 2019
Overall the resort was okay.. you get what you pay for.. total cost for my husband, son and I was just under 3000$ from Toronto
Beach: Beautiful beach!
when the tide is low; the coral reef is on the beach and easy to see when walking!
when the tide is high; the reef is in the water and presents problems [... read more]when trying to enter the ocean
it was extremely windy during our stay so we didn't swim in the ocean much
never short on beach chairs!
Rooms: We stayed in the older section (3000 block)
small bathroom! large crack under the door to outside! adjoining room walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours loud and clear!
rooms are outdated which is fine (everything was fully functioning in our room) and it was kept clean!
Service: It was average! some workers enjoyed their job while others didn't
It was a very "get it yourself" type resort which was fine with us
Pool: The main pool was kept clean..
We would periodically see a worker cleaning the pool with the net
The water was cold so we didn't swim in the pool at all
Hot tub: We spent most of our time in there.. it was nothing fancy but they kept the temperature warm enough to stay in but not too hot to want to step out. the kids loved it!
Food: We didn't go hungry but it wasn't a huge buffet
The food at the beach was a cute set up and perfect for lunch or a snack!
(we did not do any of the a la carte restaurants)
Bars: only a beach bar and a main bar ... the resort could really use another bar somewhere
the line ups where never overly long but another bar on the resort would go a long way
the "get it yourself" water station at each bar is great!!
Shows: they start at 930 pm with an awards presentation from the days activities.. it was too late for us and our 5 year old so we didn't catch any

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Great Visit
The overall resort was great. It wasn't 5 star, but we knew that going in. It had some nicer rooms, but because we had kids, they had put us in the older rooms and our room needed some small maintenance.
The food was great, drinks were plentiful and it was a blast for my family and our friends.

Pelican Bay: Pelican Bay was Great
The rooms were nice, however the floors were dirty. They left your feet dirty walking barefoot. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good and had ample selection. The location to the square was close and the square had a wide variety of food options.

Pelican Bay: Pelican Bay Freeport, Bahamas
The Pelican Bay is an older hotel undergoing significant renovations. Areas previously renovated were very attractive. Our room was next to be done. While there, we found it less than clean. However, because of the wonderful staff, the location of the hotel (within a few minutes' walk to excellent restaurants), and the anticipation of upgraded rooms, we would absolutely return.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Amazing location
The Resort is not fancy, it is clean, the food is good and the staff are friendly. The Beach is beautiful and you can walk for kilometres. There are activities daily which include water aerobics, yoga, darts and other games. I enjoyed archery.
Lukewarm food to cool. Never got any extras as a group of 16. Ie. preferential checkin etc. Very confusing checkin at the resort. Confusion overall the week.
Inconsistent on replacement of eg. Towels.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Nice Resort Very poor Beach
When you go to a resort on the o cean you expect too swim in the ocean, at Wyndham this was almost imposible, the rocks and chunks of coral started at the waters edge and continued out about six feet. Even wearing water shoes, people were falling and finding it very difficult to reach the sandybottom. Everyone I spoke to on the beach were very disappointed, also having cruise ship customers come unto the resort caused long wait times for lunch and supper, people staying h allow them seven days o[... read more]r longer should have wrist bands which allow them easyer axcess to the amenites. We swam mainly in the pool which was great, but we came to swim in the ocean.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Loved it!!!!!
I loved this resort it was nice the food was great. There is a fridge in the room but they do not stock it ( that is ok as the snack bar is open all the time) You get a complimentary bottle of water on check in which we did not get. There is a lot to do on the resort. The only thing is that there is no duty free at the airport so buy on the plane. if you need to get anything there is a market place but it was a cost of $30 USA to go there ( 2 people) other than that great!!!

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Excellent Family Resort
Resort was simple, clean and well laid out. The rooms were dated (gardenview) but were clean and most importantly everything worked as expected. There were lots of activities for both kids and adults alike - you can be as active or laid back as you would like. The beach was gorgeous with a wide frontage before the water and the ability to walk in either direction for a while. As others have mentioned, the ocean was rocky right in front of the resort but had coral outcropping for snorkeling o[... read more]pportunities. Beach chairs were always available no matter what time of day you wanted to go to the beach - no towel games!
The food in the buffet was of good quality and we enjoyed visiting both the Pizza and Gourmet restaurants as well. The snack bar at the beach was nice to visit for a quick lunch and was popular with the kids.
Our only complaint was that the pool and beach bar could be very busy on the weekends when the cruise ship had people visiting the resort for a daily or overnight visit.
We would recommend this resort for families with elementary aged children but not for couples looking for a week away in an exotic location. We felt that we received excellent value for the money spent (compared to 4 to 4.5 star resort in Cuba) and would return without hesitation!

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Amazing resort
Our experience was perfect.
We got to eat 4 nights in a la cart restaurants so food was good and always available for your convenience.
Entertainment was the best. Lots of fun and professional. For both kids and adults and all throughout the day.
Rooms were good and bartenders super nice too. Loved our time at the beach right off our room and loved the view everyday to the ocean.
Would recommend it.

Island Seas Resort: Very Sad
First of all this review is in no way a reflection on the service provided by tripcentral.ca. As I found Julie to be extremely helpful & professional in everyway. This review is about Island Seas Resort and Sunwing whom I will be writing a letter to and coping Julie at tripcentral.ca.
I chose to go to Grand Bahamas for 2 reasons 1st the location is close & not a 5 hour flight, 2nd I have never been there and do have plans to bring clients to the Bahamas for a sailing charter, so I was not only [... read more]there to relax but do a little research.
Upon arrival at the airport the sunwing line was extremely large with people going to many Caribbean destinations, very disorganized. Then we where approached by a rep & offered to pay an upgrade of $30.00 each to get out of the line up and speed through check out, which we did. Once we where at check in & placed our carry ons on the scale we where told that they had to be checked, as we where already checking 1 bag I had to pay an additional $34.00 for the checked bag. I have always traveled with my carry-on and it has never been a problem before? More of a money grab.
The flight was fast and uneventful the service onboard was slow and the staff uninterested as I requested a glass of water I never received.
The transfer to the resort was ok but we where left waiting with 4 other people for the second van load to go to the resort.
Once we got to the resort we had to wait with many other people in the lobby to go to guest services, who where friendly and asked if we had a preference on a room which I said we would like to be on the ground floor in front of the hot tub in the marina view middle building. At that time we where told that check in began at 4:00pm, I pointed out our paperwork stated 3:00pm & was told that was a mistake. They said we could store our luggage and change & where welcome to explore the property, which we did as it was 10:00am. We walked to the Marina which is not much of a Marina at all with the exception of the 47ft power cat owned by the resort developer. But we could see the unit we requested was empty and no cleaning staff around. We then walked the beach & went for lunch. At 2:00pm as the other couple Mr & Mrs Freeman where already in there room since 12:30pm I asked if our room was ready & told no it needed to be cleaned. As no one at the front desk had name tags on I can not provide you a name. So again we walked to the requested room and no one was there and peeked in the window and it seemed ready. While this continued every 40 mins even with us offering to help clean the room. They just kept putting our paper work to the bottom of the pile! And left us sitting outside without as much as a bottle of water or a complimentary rum punch. By now another tour company had arrived and more line up, until I got a little forceful with them & they finally started to check us in totally disregarding our requested room. As this was unacceptable I stated that and they gave us the empty room 1075 at 4:45pm. We lost an entire day! And I had a headache from the stress!
Once we where in the room the queen bed was a double so sharing was out of the question so I opened the pull out and the mattress was very thin & old so I called the front desk requesting a douvet to place on top of it as well as sheets, blankets, pillows a coffee maker, frying pan, basket & kettle. I told them there where no screens on the windows & the room had a funny smell. They sent some stuff over and the front desk called and offered us a complimentary breakfast the next morning which I replied while that was kind & we would take it they should also comp our dinner tonight. I was told Miss Lynn the manager would get back to me. We unpacked and went to the hot tub it was dirty and not working. As we lost a day & not able to go grocery shopping we went for dinner to an empty restaurant Grape Sea & asked if we had a reservation which we did not but they so kindly seated us. We ordered and service was so slow and my headache so bad I left Catherine there & ask she bring my dinner back as I had to go & lye down, she had a headache as well so she got them to package the food and came back to the room. We both went to bed with headaches at 8:30pm. I was sound a sleep when I was startled by noise at 10:00pm by someone trying to break into our room. I yelled at them and they left.
The next morning Sunday Feb 11/18 at 7:00am I went to the front desk and found the lady who had been so unhelpful the day before there. I asked for the breakfast comp tickets and they were not there? So I waited for the coffee shop to open at 7:30am & bought here a tea & gave it to her and introduced myself and got her name Dezie and explained while I did understand she had a lot to deal with as the front line person I had some concerns and told her about the attempted break in and the smell and the missing items and the unacceptable pull out as well as the broken lock on the front door the missing safe key, the broken fan in the bathroom as I was keeping notes. She sent some over to check the door lock & fan & at that time I requested they bring in another double bed for me to sleep on as there was more than enough room in the living room for it. The handyman went for some tools and never retuned. Again more of nothing rush and wait, so we went grocery shopping by cab. I had to meet our Sunwing rep at 12:00pm whom we did meet Tiffany and started to explain our story and asked her to advocate for us & move us to a 2 bedroom in the same building 1068. We even took her to our room to see that there was mold in the ceiling which again was giving us a headache. She did work very hard with the hotel staff to come up with a solution. But we meet a cleaner who also works as a painter there and he told us that most of the marina view units have not been redone and mold was an issue. There where cleaning 1068 so we went in and it had been re done and was more than acceptable. But the front desk stated that we had request that room so they would not but us into a 2 bedroom unit unless we paid $100.00 a night more which our friends had paid $100.00 in total to upgrade to a ocean view. So not acceptable to me, nor was there any value in spending another $700.00 USD. So after that they sent us to check out no less than 4 mold infected rooms which we declined. It was not until well after 3:30pm that they decided to upgrade us to unit 3011 Ocean view, which we checked out and no smell & clean. So we went back packed up not only our personal items but all the grocery's then waited for the bellman to help which took forever so I ended up starting to walk things to the lobby. By then he arrived and was very helpful. By the time we got settled in it was well after 6:00pm again another day lost! We ate and relaxed and went to bed. In the middle of the night my friend Catherine was ill with vomiting & diarrhea which lasted Feb 12 & 13. Due to her health issues of an immune disorder breathing mold & the stress really made her ill. As it turned out the evening of Feb 13/18 I started with the vomiting through the entire night. So all in all from Feb 14-16 we did have a chance to relax & take in some sun as well as tour the island with our friend by renting a car. But over all the disappointment of the conditions in which this resort is in is very unacceptable. I understand that Mathew 2016 did a lot of damage to this island and the people are trying to recover but without tourist dollars that is impossible. The fact the this is an ideal location on the beach with amenities should help. But the fact that the units are old is acceptable but they are neglected is not acceptable. I am an interior designer and know that for a little money I could work wonders on the units to update them. The mold building should be worked on like the ocean view building. It is such a shame that the Canadian Owner has such low expectations and while they fly our flag they treat us like dirt. Yet they continue to sell timeshare for $15,000.00 a week plus $785.00 maintenance fee which is not reflected in the property. So all in all our 7 day winter escape turned into a 3 day mini holiday very sad.
Note the only way I would return to this location was if I had room 3011 and our friends where in room in the double room 2 doors down, due to the fact the amount we paid was very reasonable & included the flight. But check in would have to pre-arranged as not to lose a day

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Beautiful beach!
The rooms at this resort are very dated, unless you get a VIP room (time share). Other than that the resort is great. Staff is very friendly, food is great and the beach is beautiful! For just relaxing it’s a good spot. The resort is quite isolated, so there’s not a whole lot to do unless you take a tour or rent a car.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Beautiful
Bahamas is a paradise and the resort is pretty good...some “basic standard “ rooms aren’t upgraded and the “ocean view “ rooms are too close to the “night show stage†so even if you have decided to get sleep earlier and skip the show, you may forget to sleep until midnight :)
And, in general, this is a good place to escape for all the ages.
The stuff are great, professional and friendly, the food is good, the ocean is fantastic.
