Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing for families!!

We stayed in the resort during March. 2 adults 2 kids .The thing that we were most impressed by was the kids club!! The staff there is so good with the kids and they did amazing programs with them including puting on a show for the evening for all to enjoy. There were many different activities for kids from ages 3-12. The resort is big and you can travel to it's different hotels through walking in the complex or on the beach, or waiting for a golf cart to drive you everywhere , golf carts come [... read more] every 10-15 min. It was very clean and the staff all over the place was kind and welcoming. Food in the buffet was okay but in the restaurants was delicious ?. Beach was accessible for kids and beautiful , many fishes to see if you're snorkeling. The only thing that bothered us was the small beds but we got along with it . Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great Resort

Staff were great especially bell boys 10/10. Choice of restaurants, bars, food were plentiful all bookable ahead of arrival but none looked full even when the reservation shows full. Plenty off shade near the beach usually with free loungers but the only downside was murky ocean water due to nearby river outlets.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: A Dream Come True!

The hotel was beautiful and modern. Very clean. Excellent staff. Amazing quality and variety of food and drinks. A trip I’ll never forget! 10/10 can’t wait to come back! Thank you to Shannon Aishford for helping me and my group through this trip!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Nice Stay

We enjoyed our stay at this resort and it was nice having access to the four other resorts. Our room was dark and a little dated but very clean and quiet. There are a lot of swimming pools and a beautiful beachfront. We found the Akumal had the best beachfront of the other three resorts as the staff worked extremely hard clearing all the sargassum. After around 10 PM, there really is no night life on any of the resorts and if you want to dance and continue on with your nigh [... read more]t, it’s best to go down to the Hacienda, which is about a 20 minute walk or a few minutes on a trolley. Although we walked mostly it was very convenient having trollies that took you from place to place if you wanted. The food was plentiful and pretty good no complaints. The drinks were great as well. You can easily take a Colectivo bus for a few bucks to close by town’s and Playa del Carmen. The gift shops in all of the hotels are super inflated with outrageous prices. It is best to buy outside of the resort or down at the Hacienda where you can do some bartering. All in all, it is a lovely resort you won’t be disappointed.

Great experience. Entertainment was top notch. Caramelo was 100% in everything. Very entertaining, social, engaging, and great energy. He kept the holiday spirit up for everyone. He definitely made the experience a better one.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Outstanding resort!

First off, the staff are personable, attentive and work hard to please. The variety of restaurants is excellent. We had no problem booking them online. To no fault of the resort, there was a lot of seaweed on the beach however they had workers raking and removing it daily, as best as they could. We go here every year and it’s not always this bad. The pools are maintained and lovely, We stayed in a premier room and loved the upgrades.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Amazing food

This is an amazing resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a 2 week stay but unfortunately I ended up in the hospital the second week with a pneumonia. We received calls from the staff to inquire how we were. The food at this place is outstanding, the buffets we overwhelming, we had the option to book for dinner at a couple of restaurants, but never bothered. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fun times at Coba

I just returned from a three family trip with 5 adults and 5 “kids” ranging in age from 13 to 21. We were there from March 16-23 and here is my review. I will start with the bad and move to the good and luckily there are more positives than negatives to report . 1. Check-in. We arrived very late and there were a few families they knew were arriving at midnight and there was only one person at the desk and it was so slow - even without any unique requests it took hours and even though we had  [... read more]called, emailed, had our travel agent reach out regarding linking our reservations together our room was at the opposite end of the resort for our kids and the bed arrangements were all wrong. A bellman dropped everyone off in the rain at 2:00 am with no help to get into the rooms. The next day it took almost the whole day to get one room changed and it was incredibly frustrating. It was such a horrible start to our holiday but luckily service in all other aspects were great. They have to put more staff on at night when they expect a bus full of people to arrive with kids tired and needing to check in and sleep. 2. Food - the buffet had great service, lots of selection and the snack bar was great too when the buffet was closed. It was very hard to book à la cartes and impossible to link reservations across rooms for our family but the ones we did book were terrific. The signage at the buffet was always wrong and things are in weird locations and sometimes they would run out of items early but there was so much variety you could always have a great meal and the wait staff Thomas brought us trays of cappuccinos for breakfast with a huge welcoming smile - so nice! 3. Grounds and pools - Clean, lots of activities, well lit, interesting wildlife and I thought the size of the resort would be a problem but the trolleys run constantly and it’s actually easy and fun to use them to get around. It’s confusing to orient among the different resorts based on maps and not easy to understand what is and isn’t Coba but one adjusts! They kick everyone out of the pools at 6 sharp which might bother some people. I wonder if those hours are longer in the summer months when the sun goes down later. 4. Beach - I was so worried from the reviews that it was small and rocky or choked with seaweed and this was a pleasant surprise because the snorkeling off the beach was the best I have ever seen in Mexico. We could always find loungers and there was both towel and bar service at the beach and convenient bathrooms nearby. It might not have been as beautiful as some beaches in the area and you needed a trolley to get there but we loved it. Bring snorkel gear and water shoes and you will not believe your eyes! Schools of fish, coral, rays and gorgeous tropical fish - far better than excursions I have paid for in the past. We may return just for the snorkeling! 5. Entertainment was a bit quiet for our older kids but they loved it all the same and enjoyed paying 10$ extra to visit the nightclub next door at the adults only. There was certainly no need to upgrade to a better bracelet to access the other resorts in the complex. We didn’t have little ones but the ones we saw seemed so happy. Karaoke was fun and the kids liked the option to play pool and use the arcade (extra $ though) 6. Rooms smelled a bit musty when we arrived but we brought dryer sheets and misted them with essential oil and once the AC came on it was all fine. The rooms are dated but large and comfy and the hot water and shower pressure was great. I know some people found the beds too firm but not us and the wifi was strong and reliable so we could work a bit. 7. While normally I prefer a smaller beachfront resort this place was ideal for our huge group with different needs and I was pleasantly surprised once I was done dealing with the front desk! Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful resort!

Absolutely loved our stay at Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana. The beaches were stunning, the sand was clean and the water was lovely. The pools were conveniently located with swim up bars and great service. The food was also super tasty. The room we stayed in was recently upgraded and was comfortable, however, the shower had some issues draining. The weather was perfect the entire week and I would definitely come back here again.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great week.

The hotel grounds were beautiful. All of the staff were excellent. Room was clean and looked after. Meals were excellent. Gluten free options were good. (Would love a pasta option). Coffee shop, ice cream man, beach grill and gym were fantastic. The negatives were the beach sports offered (no beach volleyball or even a net to use). No kayaks either. Also, white party cancelled last minute! Finding shade on the beach was also challenging.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great family vacation

We had a wonderful family vacation. Nice room and property, good food, beautiful resort and lots to do with the kids (ages 4 to 9). Kids pool area/splash pad/mini water park was nice. Staff were also amazing. We had what was advertised as a 2 bedroom unit however it was really a bedroom plus a living area that has a sofa bed. However the sofa bed did come apart and we managed to sleep all three kids on it. Another thing to be aware of is the distance from Cancun airport - over an hour drive.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: We went to Paradise and came back with Parasites!

This trip was the 3rd to Bahia Principe in Punta Cana, the first was a couple of years in Amber and the last two to Grand Punta Cana. The suite was adequate (as we made sure to have one renovated), the maid services were OK (“rewarded” daily) and to our positive surprise the food was generally better than last year. We had dinners a-La-carte in 6 different restaurants and overall was better than last year. As we are beach lovers and already accustomed with getting the sun beds on the beach (wa [... read more]ke up very early) we did not “suffer” as the rest of the over tourists masses not getting place and being very frustrated. Generally the staff is hard working (in a DR rhythm) and we did not have any problems in dealing with them. The alcoholic drinks are actually very watery and use a low grade quality alcohol. However a constant bar request for a drink, along with a minimum of 1US dollar bill helps at the beginning of the evening, but later not as much due to the overwhelming presence of tourists. Unfortunately we came back with some “local” visitors (parasites) that finally have establish their home in my sole feet and provoked an aggressive infection that is still require treatment after was diagnosed by doctors to emergency and tropical clinic. Clear, the parasites have been “collected” from the resort beach as we did not moved outside of the resort’s beach anytime. Overall an unforgettable experience that will deny us for any further beach resort visits in the future.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: A great resort for families!

We loved our stay! Nice shallow pool and beach for the kids, variety of foods and shows, and we really enjoyed the kids' club. The lobby was breezy and clean, and lots of game options for the kids. We would come back!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Beautiful and friendly

I was very impressed with Bahia Principe Grand La Romana. What a well kept clean beautiful resort. From lobby to dining to the rooms! We had hot water every day and internet was better then mine at home, even on the beach most times. I dont swim in the ocean but the beach was clean and nice. Pool was large and always clean. Staff were always friendly and the shows at night were enjoyable.. most importantly though, i ALWAYS felt safe! Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Just plain amazing !

We just spent another wonderful week at this amazing resort. We have been back many times all due to the excellent staff. From the welcome of Samuel to the general manager Albis to the friendly efficient housekeeping staff and great attention service of the dining staff. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Nice Resort

This was the first time at this resort. It is nice but being at another adults only, inclusive resort several times, there was many expectations that did not met my standard. It is definitely a walk around resort with lovely manicured grounds. Beach area was crowded, very nice pool with lots of activity and good seating. Had to return it......Every day the Buffet was themed - e.g. Mexican, Spanish etc. nice selection for breakfast, lunch & dinner. and exceptional breads and desserts Entertainment in the Lobby each night was excellent. Great gathering area! A good selection of music that entertain every one! Even Silent Disco! The rooms were well maintained. Clean and very bright. The bar fridge had only rum and some water and pop. But they were accommodating when are needs were met. Staff were very nice and considerate The downfalls in my opinion are - no screens on the sliding doors, In the buffet, not all the dishes were labelled which made it difficult to know what was in it and it did become "same old"- would preferred to choose my own seating - was a waiter that was really annoying crying "coffee" all the time was not aware of the app to order restaurants meals beforehand - butler service was inconsistent especially during the evenings - Pathways at night were not well lite which was hazardous when it rained - Music way too loud and was continual throughout the day. It was mentioned that Hyatt was taking over this resort at the end of March and I must admit there should be a lot of upgrades to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Would not return.

Would not return & definitely not worth the long drive from the airport. After a full day of travelling the shuttle driver said “no sleeping in here. I’ve been working 24hrs” and proceeded to splash water in his eyes during the transfer. Be prepared to be whistled in the pool all day long just for simple water activities with the family. And the pool closes so you’re whistled out by 5:45/5:50. No staff going around the pool areas offering drinks. Pools were a good temperature though wh [... read more]ich was nice. No welcome drink upon arrival. Long check in process even with no lines. Terrible room cleaning. Some days they would come and give fresh towels other days they’d leave you with no toilet paper and no water. Called the desk for water refill and they said “sorry we have no water until morning” Buffet was terrible. Same stuff for breakfast lunch and dinner aside from the odd change up of bigger items like omelettes and chicken. Omelettes and Pizza was by far the best. The burgers were mystery meat. No poolside snack trucks only two buffets for day time snacks. Mimosas are premade for breakfast and taste like juice. If you want in an a la carte you have to book before you even arrive at the resort as people book days to months in advance. Their response “check each day after 4pm for cancellations.” The app rarely worked to let you book even if there was a cancellation. Forget having the staff do anything remotely customer service focused. Anytime you asked for anything “extra” it was met with a no mam or like you were asking for a huge favor. The requests? Clean towels for the pool (some days they had none first thing in the morning even), cherries for your drinks? Non existent! Couldn’t access the ocean staying at coba unless you ventured to one of the other resorts which was no quick venture. Minimal family activities. Kicked the youngest out of the teen club as soon as he stepped in and could not play with his brother because he was “too little” but other kids younger then him would be seen going in and out. So rather than enjoying the free activities there If you want to do any kind of family games you’re paying an arm and a leg to enjoy the arcade in the sports bar. Pool, air hockey, fooseball all costs money. Basketball outside the teens club was the highlight but be prepared for them to take the ball away when they close the club. Minimal entertainment. Fire show? They want you to pay to go see sunset fire show. A few shows in the theater or Karioke and music at night were the only things.
