Allegro Cozumel: awesome resort

We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks.. We have stayed at 5 stars as well. However we were very impressed with allegro cannot wait to go back. rooms.. Staff.. Servers especially Elena so courteous went the extra mile always to be helpful.. Entertainment fabulous.. Reception desk always smiling & helpful.. Carlos in the lobby was so friendly always smiling... Nothing we did not like!!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Mayan Paradise

Amazing resort. They mix opulence with an Eco-jungle with breathtaking results. The rooms are big and lots of space. Big bathroom with a large marble shower and huge closet with free safe. The restaurants are good with the choice of 2 buffets and no reservations required at the a la carte. Walking around the grounds you'll see monkeys, deer, coati, and flamingos. They don't have your typical beach area but the main beach is large, multi level and always calm for swimming. The adult area is breat [... read more]htaking and if you enjoy snorkelling you can enjoy the coral reef right there at the beach. What really makes this resort great is the staff. The entertainment staff are fun and friendly with lots to do. Everyone works very hard to make sure you have an enjoyable vacation. I will add that if you are looking for a high end spa like resort this is not it. We had a great time and the resort exceeded all of our expectations. Highly recommend!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great Value

A very clean resort with terrific staff and great value for money. No beach at high tide, but lovely water and a world class location for kite surfing. Hope the new management replaces every toilet in the place! That said, I will go again next year.

Occidental Cozumel: Good resort.

Generally a nice resort, grounds are beautiful, beach is very nice, sandy with very little rock. It is a smaller resort and is a good choice for first time travellers to get started. The food was very good, buffets were plentiful, and always had lots of variety. The a la cartes were a bit of a disappointment, we found we enjoyed the buffets selections more. The rooms are ok, be aware that you are in a mangrove and the humidity is very high, so things tend to feel damp all the time, and it has a  [... read more]slight musty smell, but nothing that we couldn't live with. The quiet pool was perfect and Justino our bartender mixed fantastic drinks and was very attentive and friendly!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: great holiday

From Jan.7 to Jan.14/16, we had an excellent time. We took our son, and daughter, and there spouse's, and three grand daughter's,age's 7,9,12. We found the hospitality at the Grand Xcaret, outstanding, and we never had a bad meal. The rooms are a bit dated, and need a face lift, compared to the pics that are shown in the brochure, but they are clean. We swam through all three cave's which was awesome, and went to the evening show at the park, which was the history of the Mayan people(2 hr show) a must see. Over all I would rate this resort, a great family setting, with plenty to do. Bye the way the snorkeling at the beach is awesome.

Occidental Punta Cana: Dated and needs some TLC

Overall we had an ok experience at this resort. Buffet was ok we could always find something to eat. Lunch beach buffet was good and there was variety. Steak place was terrible exhaust to remove smoke from the grill was not working and service was not the greatest. Food was not cooked very good. Italian restaurant just re-opened and when booking they tried to charge us $25 extra per person so we did not book. Others booked and did not have to pay the $25 ??? Room was fine we were in building 10  [... read more]close to the main pool front lobby and restaurants but a walking distance from the beach. Room was fine just outdated. The room was cleaned very well every day and we were pleased with the room condition compared to hearing what other peoples experiences were. Building 23 had a lot of water and toilet issues. Beach was good and service on the beach by Frank was great. Air transat reps were great and very helpful in finding my luggage.

Occidental Punta Cana: Occidental

the grounds were well maintained, the rooms were nice. We had the top floor and could see the ocean from our room, food was good and weather was great! The only complaint I really had was the service in the main buffet wasn't very good. But it was good everywhere else!

Nice staff,resort good, only rooms needs some lifting.Weather perfect,beach very nice,a lot of activities on the on it. Food was amazing.Basically, every day something different to eat at buffet. I have a good time!

Allegro Cozumel: Great people!

Overall it was a good resort. Some hot water issues but the staff made it all worth it. New Year's Eve was awesome!!! Everything pretty much shut down by 11:00 pm. The Snorkelling was fantastic. Definitely go to the reefs!!

Occidental Cozumel: Beautiful resort

I would recommend this resort to anyone-Its a nice small hotel with great food beautiful beaches, and friendly staff. The only downsides were the mattresses were very hard, but after a couple of days you get use to them-Rooms were nice and clean!!

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Beautiful location

Excellent resort for any kite surfer. Great location and shallow beach for launching. The people who run the resort are friendly and accommodating. The food was great - plentiful and well prepared. We are looking forward to returning in February 2016.

Occidental Cozumel: AVEARAGE RESORT NEEDS EXTENSIVE MAINTENANCE

nice settings a lot of , green however very small resort with no entertainment ,old buildings which need renovation. rooms outdated with poor bedding,staff very helpful friendly and working hard to make tourists happy.Cleaning is almost not noticeable because everything is old and needs repairs.Reservations impossible to make at the 2 a la carte restaurants as they are short staffed and cannot accomodate.Buffet does not have enough staff, huge lines in the evenings of 40 minute waiting periods t [... read more]o get in and be seated.The buffet needs a chef who knows how to organize menus. Poor choices and not enough fruits and vegetables .The restaurant on the beach has a poor selection of the same food each day.Tourists from outside were buying day passes. on the weekend creating huge lines at the beach restaurants and no lounges or spots on the beach. Definetely a 3 star resort with kind nice people who want to do their best but impossible due the age of the place.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Absolutely best resort I have been at!

The resort is stunning from the villa type rooms with a concierge at every villa - We had Hector and by far went over the top to ensure every one of our needs were meet and exceeded he was on top of everything from booking our restaurant selections - that were true fine dining and yes you can get into each of the 5 restaurants with no problems - he literally took care of our every need and truly treated us as more of a friend then another number definitely be back to see him.. I had a dental iss [... read more]ue come up - root canel - and they literally had a doctor at my room withing hours to have a look at me with they had made arrangements for a dentist the very next day to correct the problem all at a fraction of the price we pay in Canada and done within hours at perhaps one of the best dental experiences I have had as well this was all arranged by the hotel I literally had to do nothing they took the time and cared enough to have me picked up dropped off all done.for me ahead of time I literlly had to do nothing! There are way to many things to list that resort excelled at list them all so In short the best experience we have had and will be booking our next trip soon with them. My Thanks to the Management and staff of the Royal Hideaway for truly making this our best vacation ever.

Had a great time I like that's it's a small resort friendly people good food clean rooms it's cheap meet lots of people pools are nice slides for the kids kite flyers to watch I like the beach lots of activities to participate in

hotel was nice, staff very friendly and accomodating. It was my first time to cuba. I would for sure go back to this resort. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was good as long as you are willing to try different things.

Occidental Punta Cana: Occidental

We stayed at Occidental from Dec 11 - 18th. I found the Hotel to be a grande and beautiful resort, however I was quite upset that we were not notified of all the construction. I felt that $1500 was A LOT for a hotel under construction, considering that I took an all inclusive trip for 2 to Mexico for less than $1300, for what I felt to be a better experience. There were many small issues that individually, would not have bothered us, but collectively, it became a bit annoying. We were unable to  [... read more]get a lock for our safe for the first day and a half, which resulted in money being stolen from my room out of my purse. (presumably by a maid or other hotel staff, it was only $25, but it's the principal.) When we attempted to report this to the front desk, they rolled their eyes, and told us we had probably just lost it because we had been drinking. But in all fairness, I should have never left my wallet unattended. Some of the staff were wonderful, but many of the staff were unfriendly, and a few of them downright creepy. The one consierge in our building (#26, unfortunately we never asked for his name, big mistake! because the other fellow was great) tried to lure us off the resort with him, and then tried to visit me in the hospital. My friend gave him a fake room number, and luckily the hospital staff would not allow him in to the room with me. Also, our patio door would not lock, we notified staff and they had it fixed within 24 hours. Our air conditioning unit in our room broke, we notified staff, and they fixed it for us right away. The Wifi connection was incredibly slow, and for 2 days did not work at all, which was an inconvenience because I was unable to contact my family back home who were incredibly worried since I had been hospitalized and was unable to update them on my situation. My hospital experience was HORRIBLE. I felt that they kept me in there for an extra day just to get more insurance money out of me. they pumped me full of SO many drugs that my hand and arm swelled up like I had been stung by a bee, to which they kept shouting at me "not allergic not allergic". I didn't feel a simple gastro-infection required more than a dozen bags of meds (at $85 a bag). I couldn't help by feel it was an insurance scam. They also gave me SEVEN prescription drugs upon my discharge. I felt one antibiotic should have been sufficient. I know the hospital had nothing to do with the hotel, but it was a huge damper on my trip. This sounds like a lot of complaints, but our air-transat reps were friendly, and very helpful. They allowed my friend to use their phone to call me in the hospital twice, which helped me keep my sanity. Juan- Carlos and Jeff were absolutely terrific. Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Great hotel!

Great food, great staff, great beach. The Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is a smaller hotel compared to others in the area which is nice. Beautiful beach. Just a short walk down the beach, you can witness nightly baby sea turtle releases! Amazing to see! A great location only a short bus ride away from Puerto Vallarta. Highly recommend.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: X-caret Hotel

This was my second trip to this hotel. It was an awesome week with a few bumps but good all the same. The rooms are nice and clean, the beach is small but clean and love the man made inlet so I can go swimming without the waves. The food was good plenty to eat. Dinners are all a la carte so was able to enjoy all the restaurants without eating supper at the buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful the grounds are well kept, love the wild life. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Average

The beach was beautiful. The room was simple. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom had issues with the toilet. A new tank was put in. Food was average. Not much of a change in variety from day to day. Overall, it was good value for what I paid

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Great place for R&R

The resort in small enough that everything is close by, but still large enough where we were not all on top of each other. The beach is wonderful! The food was varied, abundant and delicious and the evening show mostly entertaining. Rooms on the side of the theatre are noisy at night. We had upgraded to ocean view and it was worth the extra money as our room was quiet. The only inconvenience was the lack of Internet in our room. We had to go to the main area by the bar and reception and even the [... read more]re it did not always work. I think the hotel was working on this problem. All in all, I would go back there anytime
