Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: great resort

The hotel could use some sprucing up here and there. Like the light bulbs need replacing that have burnt out. The lawn needs watering. The floors in the hallways need cleaning. The staff is professional, helpful and friendly. It is a quiet and low keyed resort. Great place to relax and unwind.

Rex Papillon: Wonderful Vacation!

We originally chose the Rex Papillon for the amazing price we found, but it is a true diamond in the rough. It is a small, older resort, but they have updated quite a few things and they try very hard to please. Everything is very clean, very tidy, if not overly glamorous. Our room was spacious and clean, with a modern updated bathroom. The bed was super comfortable, probably the best sleep I've had at all inclusives! I would have to say the only thing that I found to be a bit odd for a resort was that the pool was closed at 6 every day, when it would have been nice to swim after dinner. Also there is no food available after 930 when the buffet closes. Not the best when you've been drinking and need a snack later at night. However, the most wonderful part of the resort was the staff. From the security guard at the entrance, to the servers in the buffet, to the groundskeepers, every single team member was so open and friendly and welcoming! I would recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to St Lucia on a relative budget and with adults. There is not much for kids and I would be worried they would be bored! It's right in the middle of all the fun and it is a great value. I would definitely go back there again!

Rex Papillon: great little resort!

We just got back and had a great time...weather was great !! although it rained almost everyday....ride from the airport was almost 2 hrs like it stated in the reviews but your on vacation..take in those amazing views... Food was good, staff were great and room was clean and comfortable! Only issue was the shower...peak times it was hard to take a warm shower. We were on 5th floor which was 3 flights of stairs but our room we had ocean view. By the time we got there they were all taken..I guess if u snooze u lose... The washrooms at the beach were amazingly clean, also in the lobby too. Royalton CHIC Antigua: Resort

While the hotel is 'tired' and needs refurbishing, the staff, food and beach are amazing. Bartenders at the beach bar are great - super friendly and accommodating. The fact you can change beach towels during the day is a plus.

Rex Papillon: Resort was wonderful!

Great sea view room and close to the beach. Staff were polite and helpful. Food great!! I enjoyed the beach and the pool. The resort is small and was never too busy. The Pappilon was within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and bars. Thank you to Helen Callender at tripcentral for a quick and easy booking.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Good resort for the money!

The resort was what we expected from other reviews. The room was dated but clean. Everything worked in our room. Food was very good. Drinks were good, including the wine. Not alot of entertainment. Some of the staff were friendlier than others. The servers in the buffet could have had more enthusiasm. The resort is close enough to St Johns to walk. It took a little over an hour each way. Rex Papillon: Great resort

This is a smaller resort which we enjoyed thoroughly. Our room was fresh and recently renovated. We had a garden view room which had a view of the ocean. The room had flat screen tv, fridge, king bed, safe and two luggage racks and coffee maker. Resort had a nice large pool with swim up bar. The Italian and Asian restaurants we excellent and the Buffett had tasty food. We traveled in a group of 4 and unfortunately each of us had tummy issues. The entertainment was average but there was something on every night which was nice. The staff at this resort are outstanding, they were so friendly and accommodating. The beach is beautiful and you can walk for a long way down the beach. Apart from our tummy issues we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Rex Papillon: Excellente

This is the smallest all inclusive Mark and I have been to. I think overall there was about 100 guests. This has its advantages. There was plenty of room on the beach, no line ups in the buffet, and everybody got to know one another. The resort has an exclusive pizzazz. It is situated on the best beach in St. Lucia and is much prettier in person than the professional photos I saw. The town of Rodney Bay is right across the street and we walked there everyday. Folks ..this is not a walled-off resort with mass tourism. In the past, I have been to many resorts where the service was sadly lacking. Rex Papillon staff are professional, polite, eager to please and always a smile on their faces. Beach is fantastic. Clear turquoise water with white sandy beach. I swam everyday and one day I swam along the shoreline to Spinnakers, (a bar and grill) about 1/4 of a mile down the beach. The food surpassed what I had expected. The chef and team do a perfect job. Everything was of quality standard and there was a perfect blend of local food. I tried mostly everything and this is out of character for me as I'm a fussy eater and usually go for things that I am used to. Selection may be smaller than on a higher scale resort , but everything is sooooo good. Less is more. Chef Gordon Ramsay will tell you that! In sum, you won't find towel animals made up in your room (boo hoo) and you won't find a sheet draped over your four poster bed, calling it a honeymoon package with a $400.00 fee (boo hoo again). What you will find is fantastic people, fantastic beach, fantastic food and a clean resort with comfortable beds. All my needs were met! .

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Beautiful Island

The Rex is very weathered. The first room they put us in was maybe a 1.5 stars. We went to the desk and they did get us another rooms. This was better, the view was nice, no stairs and a a bed that was OK. The rooms could be cleaner, and what little furniture we had was very dated. They nickel and dime you. 50$ for converter, and if you lost towel or keys another 50$ each. The entertainment was not bad, but did end at 10:30 and the bar closed at 11:00. Way to early for us. You could onl [... read more]y get internet in the lobby. This day in age, there is no excuse for this. They had the best beach, cool sand that stretched quite a distance - no fighting for chairs - very nice. The food was good but repetitive. The guys in our group did not like having to always line up to eat. The restaurant on the water was very good. Incredible view and the food was excellent. Most of the staff were very nice and tried their best.

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: As expected

We think this resort is over all 3.5 stars. But clean and easy going. Best for older crowd say over 45 years old. Mostly the previous reviews are correct. The employees are not pushy and do not care if you tip or not. Service is the same. If you talk to them they respond very pleasantly. If you don't talk you will get "good morning only" or "hello". The food choices limited but very good. We never went hungry.

Rex Papillon: Relaxing

Older resort but refreshed! The proximity to the beach, rooms, restaurant, pool and bar is perfect! The buffet is small but all the food is delicious with care to quality and freshness! Downside is the 1.5 hour drive to the resort but we will go back for sure!

Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa: Rex Grenadian

Slightly dated, but very clean. Very friendly people of Grenada. Best beach I have ever been to. Very quiet. Food was good, but more selections / choices would have been nice. Overall an 8 out of 10. Grenada is a wonderful island to visit.

Our room was adequate with clean sheets & towels. The people were wonderful, everything we needed was made available to us if it weren't in the room and we enjoyed the grounds and walks on the beach. The only thing that could be improved was the public washrooms across from the check-in desk with its faulty fawcetts which sometimes felt it could break. All in all a good resort.

Our room was adequate with clean sheets & towels. The people were wonderful, everything we needed was made available to us if it weren't in the room and we enjoyed the grounds and walks on the beach. Rex Papillon: Loved this resort!

We loved the smaller size of the resort, it was easy to get around. The staff were great, helpful and very friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, the shower stall in our room (500 block) was a little tight. we had no issues getting clean towels in our room. The night-life was low key but they had something every night. If you are looking for a big productions or late nights of partying this would not be the place for you, but you can walk to bars out side the resort tha [... read more]t might suffice. We went to Friday night jump up, which keeps going into the early hours. We had no issues finding loungers around the pool or on the beach at any time. They have 2 a la carte resturants, we loved the oriental one, the Italian was ok. But we also liked the buffet, the food was tasty we always found something we liked to eat, the deserts were a bit limited. You can venture off the resort in safety and you can easly walk into town, shop and restaurants. People in town were friendly as well. The beach is beautiful , we found great snorkling at the end of the beach by Marie's fish shack. (food was awesome there, definitely worth trying) We would definitely return to the Papillon Rex in St. Lucia, over all great holiday!!!

Rex St Lucian: Excellent button

Everything was excellent except the rooms are old and no sports activities in the facility. The staff are wonderful, friendly,accommodating and pleasant to talk to except for the air transit holiday rep.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Friendly Resort

Upon our first arrival I was greeted with a drink and a friendly smile at the front desk by Aretha, who checked us in quickly and efficiently. The hotel is really dated and the rooms are in need of some repairs, however the bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of hot water, clean towels, and the staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The buffet dinners were amazing, Roast Beef one night with Yorkshire Pudding and all the fixings. Italian another night. Lunch could have had more variety, but it was consistently good with Burgers, fries, salads, fix your own sandwiches, and always fresh fish each day. Breakfast had a variety of food, fresh fruit, oatmeal, eggs cooked any way you wanted with a variety of bread and pastries. There was a wide variety of drinks at the bar and they had tea, coffee and cookies every afternoon. Our Air Canada rep, Liz was there every day and always answered any questions we had. The beach was beautiful and long enough to go for walks, Sandals hotel is right next door. We had entertainment every night and it always ended around 10:30, so it was never a problem getting to sleep at night. All and all good value for the money!

Rex Papillon: Great resort

This hotel was smaller then any of the other hotels we have been too. But smaller was just what we needed. The rooms were very clean. The staff were very friendly and easy to approach if we had any question. The food at the buffet was pretty good, but could use a little more of a variety. I would recommend this resort if you wanted a quiet place to relax and soak up the sun. If you go please say "HI" to the the girls at the lunch shack (Yvonne, Cathy, and Gillen). They were THE BEST.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Antigua

While the hotel is run down and in need of repair, everything else about Rex makes up for it. The food, staff and beach were fantastic. The wifi in the lobby worked well (but take bug spray because the mosquitos are really bad in that area). We didn't spend any time at the pool so I can't comment on the pool area. Rex St Lucian: Beautiful beach and wonderful staff

We were very pleased with the service and food provided by the staff. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and there was always a alot of different options to chose from. The majority of other guests were 60+ in age, so there isn't much of a 'nightlife' at the resort, but there the bartenders were very friendly and let us play our own music. Overall a lovely trip!
