Excellent family vacation

Beautiful hotel and grounds, everything in good repair, very clean, and well landscaped. The resort is small and well laid out so that everything is easily accessible. Rooms were very nice & spacious, beds were nothing special but not uncomfortable. There are beautiful ocean views from most rooms. Restaurants (both buffets and a la cartes) were very clean and we didn't have any trouble getting a table for any meal at any of the a la cartes. Service was a little slow at the a la cartes and wait staff seemed stretched a little thin during dinner service, breakfast and lunch were generally much more leisurely and we felt very well looked after - wait staff were always exceptional during these meals. The food in the breakfast and lunch buffets (both the world cafe and the seaside grill) is exceptional if you enjoy Mexican food - if you prefer to stick to american favourites I can't comment on that food, we enjoyed the Mexican food so much! We found the food in the a la carte's to be average - not as good as you might expect if you have stayed in other Dreams properties, but not bad. Truthfully, we found the food at the buffet to be better quality and flavour than any of our a la carte experiences. We enjoyed the coco coffee bar very much as well for a daily latte but these are also available on request at the buffets. If you need to use room service the food was good and service was very quick. We travelled with children and didn't attend any of the evening entertainment but we cannot express enough how wonderful the explorers club is! Our daughter loved every minute she spent there - the staff were very warm and friendly and they kept the kids engaged with a variety of activities every day. Our daughter said it felt like going to summer camp in Mexico! The pools are fantastic - more than enough pool side chairs to go around. The infinity pools along the beach were our favourite but the pool near the Seaside Grill/Oceano was perfect for the afternoon if you wanted a reprieve from the heat. The towels are easily accessible and plentiful. The poolside bars are great - the servers are friendly and drinks are cold. The beach is beautiful, pristine golden sand and crystal clear water. The slope of the beach is more gentle than other places on the same bay but getting in and out of the water could be a challenge depending on the waves! Some days the water was very calm and others it was quite wavy but there is a rapid drop in depth along with shore break that make this beach unsuitable for young children to wade without an adult holding them. There is some good snorkeling along the rock formations between Dreams and the next resort. Overall we enjoyed our experience very very much and we cannot say thank you enough to every staff person at Dreams Huatulco who made our trip so amazing!

Terrific and Relaxing

As a first timer to this resort my wife, son and i were very happy with all of our accommodations. Our balcony had an ocean view and we spent a few nights sipping cervezas and listening to the ocean from it. The Mexican fiesta night was truly great as was the Mexican a la carte restaurant. The other a la cartes were fine but not nearly as memorable. The buffet and seaside eatery were always well stocked and rotated great stuff. We ate tacos every day! Beautiful Resort!

Very clean, nice rooms, great showers, staff was excellent. Only negative comment would be the food, while the buffet was tasty there wasn't always a large selection to chose from and it wasn't very hot.

Great resort

We loved this resort, we came back a second time. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean but showing some wear and tear. The beach and pool areas are great, maybe some more adult only areas. We were disappointed in the food this time, especially at night.

Mediocre in general, grounds & people beautiful

We stayed for two weeks and were disappointed by the food. There is much improvement to be done there. The Japanese restaurant, the buffet & the seaside grill were all we would recommend. The worst factor we found was the lack of the shade palapas on the beach and too few chairs & umbrellas by the pools. Of course, like everyone else who actually like to sleep in a bit while on vacation (go figure!!) we found the chair/towel game to be exceedingly stupid!! The rooms were beautiful & comfortable & kept very clean. The ocean view was amazing. The people were lovely and very helpful. The town of le crucecita was very cool. Take a taxi & go walk around yourself & make sure you see the church. The catamaran tour was excellent. They will go out of their way to find whales for you. All in all 3 1/2 star.

Pleasant and quiet - very relaxing

If you're looking for a quiet alternative to the Mayan or Cancun, then Haultulco might be a great option. My wife, 2 sons and I just returned from a week at the Dreams resort. Nestled on a bay in the south Pacific, the resort is friendly, small and quiet. Our family enjoyed the authenticity of a true Mexican vacation and would recommend this spot to families looking for a quiet alternative.

Exceeded expectations

My wife and I chose this location because of the assurance of good weather - low 30's and sunny each day proved this to be a good choice! We loved the area, which offered many activities both active and passive. We loved the Dreams Huatulco for all the right reasons: comfort, service, cleanliness, amenities, food, and location. The beach is wonderful, ocean temp at 28 deg. Just be careful of any little ones in the undertow. No restaurant reservations, no problem. Our longest wait was 25 minutes  [... read more]and that was only because we chose to wait, rather than go to a different venue. One complaint, but it needs to be mentioned. The towel service and pool/beach lounge furniture situation is out of control. Although the resort posts a 'no reserving' policy, the reality is quite the contrary. We actually overheard people discussing who was going to get up at 2:30am to go down to claim loungers. I also noticed people who would reserve multiple chairs - sun area and shade areas. I should note that this applies to the beach palapas and 3 prime pools. There are 3 other pools which have less 'pressure' and are very nice in their own right. I think towel cards and enforcement of the no-reserve policy are the only fair way to go as long as it's explained at check-in. Oh, and the spa? To die for!

Fabulous Resort.

We had a wonderful time at Dreams Hautulco, one of the cleanest resorts we have visited, amazing staff, nothing was to much trouble, loved the no wrist bands, no towel cards, no reservations for A' la carte restaurants, just show up, and even although the resort was busy, we only had to wait once to get in, liked the Japanese, and the Italian the most, our least favourite, I'm sorry to say was the Mexican, maybe I just ordered the wrong dish. The selection of alchohol was also amazing, they had  [... read more]all the top brands, frozen drinks were made fresh in the blender, not from a machine, loved that. The one let down for me personally, was the sand, very rough, and hard on your bare feet, the water was very clean, and not a bit of seaweed anywhere, six pools to choose from, always managed to find a chair with some shade. Took a taxi into the little town of La Crucecita, lovely, very safe, mostly souvenir shops and restaurants, very pleasant, lovely people. Lastly, and very important, the weather was perfect.

Amazing Resort

I cannot say enough about Huatucolo. It is beautiful, the people are very friendly. The resort was the best I have ever stayed at. Everything was supplied for you, right down to the sunscreed. Food was great. Rooms were spotless and comfortable.

Wonderful Break from Endless Winter!

We recently returned from Dreams Resorts and Spas in Huatulco. We travelled with another couple and felt it was definitely one of our new top faves. The positives include...weather was perfect EVERY day (much needed vitamin D after our never ending winter cold + snow!) spotless everywhere and constantly being cleaned, beautiful view from our lounge chairs by infinity pools, excellent buffet with huge selection for everyone and the staff were always helpful and smiling while saying "our pleasure" [... read more]!! The only negative I could say is the "towel game" is in full force..I'm sure people place their towels on lounge chairs before going to bed at night to reserve?!?

Awesome resort

Very clean, food was all right, loved everything! No complaints! Will definitely go again no problem! If we had a problem which we didn't just had to ask and was solved but didn't like the time share people not impressed at all!

Beautiful area!

My wife and I were at dreams at the end of February.We had a great time there. The service and food was fantastic. The weather perfect! The resort is very clean and the staff makes sure it stays that way. Great fishing, thanks "Rudy" We really enjoyed going to town, many Canadians at the resort. Definitely will go back and we recommend Dreams!!

VERY CLEAN, GOOD FOOD, PEOPLE VERY FRIENDLY, THE ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS ROOMS WERE NOT MADE UP UNTIL 4 O'CLOCK PM AND THEN TURN DOWN FOR THE EVENING WAS ONE HOUR LATER, ENTERTAINMENT IN THE EVENING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

Amazing & Beautiful Resort

Hotel was very clean, staff was very kind, food was amazing and soo good. The Hotel grounds, rooms and resort bathrooms were kept clean. The staff was very attentive and did everything with Pleasure. It was a Dream come Ture!

Great resort for both young and old!!

I recently travelled to the Dreams Resort, Huatulco. I was traveling with my brother his wife and my aging parents. My dad is 82 and my mother is 77. They are both deaf and have some mobility issues. The everyone was very helpful from the airport to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and made our trip great. The pools were easily accessible and the staff very attentive when you wanted a drink there was always someone there to bring one! We played volleyball in the pool or on the beach and soaked up the sun. My parents fed the fish on the shore while we snorkelled with them further out! We took a kayak out and paddled around the beautiful bay. The restaurants great very little waiting and no reservations required for the ala carts! The food was great and so was the service. We went on a fishing trip where we saw huge schools of Dolphins, a very memorable sight! Then my brother caught a large Mahi Mahi followed by a few bonito fish. Huatulco is a beautiful place and the Dreams resort is the place to stay!

Lovely Vacation

My husband and I travelled with our 15 year old daughter and 18 year old son, and found the hotel wonderful. We usually travel 4.5 to 5.0 star hotels in the Caribbean, and found that this was lovely, but not one of the best we have been to. Honestly thought for a Dreams property that some standards would be higher. The food was good, staff very pleasant, especially the staff serving drinks around the pool. Rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Town was quite small, but enjoyed our day out seeing the sites and eating locally, although kids would have preferred to stay at the hotel. Didn't get a chance to do tours or watersports as our daughter broke her ankle two weeks before we left :( Huatulco was a lovely change from Mayan Riviera/Cancun/Puerto Vallarta - stunning views.

Wonderful vacation

hotel was impeccably clean, very friendly staff, amazing views overlooking Tangoluka bay. You could not ask for better weather. It was sunny and hot every day. The resort is nicely situated on the calmer side of the bay, with a gentle breeze blowing most days. Food and beverages were top notch.

Nice resort

First impression was to compare with other dreams which was a mistake after changing room (we were on ground floor with people passing by) we were happy beach was nice. drinks too Dining was soso overall can't complain will try my other Dreams

Beautiful resort

Service was great! Drinks were a little inconsistent, food was pretty good. Only negative, aggressive sales people pushing the Dreams Club(whatever it's called). The resort layout was awesome, everything was close. I'm not sure upgrading to the preferred club was worth it. No wristbands or towel cards were nice too.

Wonderful vacation

We stayed at the dreams huatulco January 2014! The resort is beautifully designed and easy to understand. Loved- the room, gorgeous infinity pools, view of the ocean, no reservations required at the restaurant, quick cab ride to a large town,spa was amazing. You did not need towel cards...you could just replace your towel as needed. There was amazing staff that brought you beverages to your pool lounge chair! Our room looked like it had been renovated and we had consistent maid service. Disliked [... read more]- the evening shows they were low budget and really needed work. We would definitely go again..in fact we are planning a trip in December with some friends.
