Grand Paradise is truly a grand place to vacation

Trip central was very easy you use to get the best deal for your vacation with the price alert feature. I did the booking on line got our tickets online and just had to wait for the departure date to arrive. Yvette was very helpful in putting this together. Grand Paradise is our favourite in the Dinican because the rooms are clean, well maintained, the staff are all very pleasant, the food is good in taste and quantity. Did I mention Grand Paradise has the best beach in Playa Dorado? Its long cl [... read more]ean,wide, and has a gentle slope into water. This was our eighth visit to Grand Paradise.

Great time

the food is very good great selection the grounds are very clean pool cleaned every day rooms are clean and nice the bars are the best happy friendly ppl the beach is very nice long walk from end to end but lots to see shows where great too always something for everyone

The place where Grand Paradise is located is really nice , the beach is big clean a the sea is amazing calm and clean, pool area is fun, the food is very good, and the best is the people ! They are so friendly, I will go back

Awesome. Clean and outstanding service daily. Food is great, different varieties, Drinks overflowing and servers are amazing people. They are polite and full of smiles. I love the white sand and clean along the beach and free to walk with no danger to remove sandals. Air Transat representative Raymondo, I salute this guy for being so nice and taking care of his people while you are there.

Recommendable

Overall , the place is safe . Friendly , helpful, approachable , caring staff.Reasonable time to respond to issues. Food are good . The place is accessible to tourist spots. Beach is beautiful. We have a relaxing week. Thanks for the mall within the resort.

An amazing place

There was nothing bad about this place I would have no problem recommending this place to friends or going back their again .We have been on several trips this year and this was by far the very best one

Amazing resort, great people!

The Grand Paradise Playa Dorada was one of the best times I've had and a great first experience at a resort. I went with 2 friends, and the staff was very fun and friendly and kept us entertained throughout the week. We met a guy named Dio (bald guy, white golf shirt) on the beach who saved us $50 (each) in total on off-resort excursions. What a blast they were! People were amazing

Had a great vacation.it didn't rain during our whole vacation.We visited Jeanette who is the manager of the Restaurant and visited her new baby.She prepared a wonderful snack for us.My favorite drink was the Superman.

Average affordable vacation !

We stayed at this hotel from April 22nd to 29th , overall it was a very clean and well kept resort .. I had no issues with bugs in my room and the beds were super comfortable , personally I didn't enjoy the a la cartes and the service was super slow , we waited 40 minutes At edens just for a bowl of soup .... The buffet was great ... A little repetitive and not many breakfast options but we always found something we liked . The music and drinks were great though !!! .... The one thing that drove me crazy was the vendors on the beach they drove us INSANE. I understand that they need to make a living but some of them just would not take no for an answer , very pushy ... The timeshare people are not much better ... Overall we did enjoy our vacation , the staff were just wonderful and very helpful ...3 and a half stars from me :-) recommend to people who are 50+

Absolute Paradise

A week in paradise.. all was great... the food was excellent.. good variety.. great drinks selection...the beach was super clean.. very welcoming staff...!!!! I will recommend this resort and will most likely go back again.

Nice,clean,compact with a great beach!

This was our first time to puerto plata -we usually go to punta cana but wanted to try this area of D.R . This resort is 15 min from airport, it is small but easy walk to pool, beach and restaurants. The rooms were renovated,pool was clean with brand new pool loungers,and the beach was great-always could find loungers at the beach with shade and the water was free of seed weed and clear enough to do snorkelling . I found the sand to be soft just like punta cana but just a shade darker,also a lot [... read more] less litter like cigarette butts I encountered in punta cana. This hotel had a lot of Canadians so English was the majority. The only thing this hotel lacks is nightly entertainment and food selection. The nightly entertainment was a kids mini disco and the stage was a 12x12 platform that was put up and down everyday so no big dancing shows on this stage. Now the food, it was fine-breakfast had the omlet station,reg. breakfast items . The buffet at lunch and dinner was ok but there was not enough selection of different items.we ate at the Eden at lunch time-it had the best chicken wings,fries and pizza and burgers.we definitely did not go hungry but if they put more effort into the food and entertainment at this resort,it could be a real gem.the best thing I liked about this resort was the placement of the eating areas-wherever you dined,you were looking out over the ocean and beach and could hear the waves crashing and could view all the mountains surrounding the resorts . I would recommend this resort if you are looking for a cheap vacation and just want to relax in the sun and could get it for 900$ taxes in.

This resort is amazing

Thor resort is beautiful, grounds and garden were cleaned daily. Great service and very friendly and entertaining. Two beach sections very clean. Vendors are ok. Just buy one or two things and they leave you alone. Food was always good. Something always new. Just need more music and a closer bar at the beach.

Awesome and friendly!!!

been to the caribean many times, and we have never had such great staff. front desk staff were always friendly. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Always something good to eat. The Italian a la carte was fantastic in all ways. Best snorkeling and swimming beach area in Playa Dorada. Can' t say anything bad about the resort, only the beach vendors trying to make a living. And the resort has no say about it there. The time share people can be a bit pushy too, since they work on commission. [... read more] But AWESOME overall!

Very good resort

The beach and foods is very good,the only thing bother me is too many smokers around the pools and the beach chairs, i fully understood there is no rules that banning peoples from smoking around the pools and the beach chair , without the smokers I would rate the beach and pools 4 1/2 stars in my opinion.

Breath taking

Beautiful and super clean resort. Food was Favb couldn't ask for better. Service was great cant complain :) Excursions was organized and came on time. Lots to do for excursions but not so much on the resort.

Lots of Food and refreshments

I only go to Dominican for the weather, and spend little time in the room, but the room I had at this resort was great, it was designed to be a permanent condo, and there was price list in the room if you decide to purchase, which I thought was cool, the property is fairly big and we would do several laps around the place after dinner to burn off fuel, it has nice walkways and lighting. Negatives are that the allow local vendors on the beach....everyone has to make a living,....but they have the [... read more] same stuff I can purchase here...I did purchase a flask made out of a actual bull horn, and if your there take the Rum factory tour its nice and you get Rum slushies at 9am..........if I drank them at home at 9am Id be scheduled for rehab.......overall great trip, I don't visit the same resort more than once though, as it takes away from being new and exploring the unknown......

Cleanest resort ever!!

This is an excellent 3.5/4 star resort. Staff was amazing, food was good, rooms were decent, grounds were beautifully kept and everything was impeccably clean! It's a lot smaller than other resorts I've been to, but that just means less walking. There are only two restaurants and maybe 3 bars, so variety is limited, but everything offered is great. As well, there is only one pool but it's very big and super clean. The beach was the highlight for me, clear, warm water and spectacular sunsets.  [... read more]The sand isn't white though, was kinda hoping it was, but everything else about it is perfect. It's huge, never a problem finding lounge chairs. And it's so clean! The workers come by with a truck in the morning and clean up all the seaweed. My husband and I took a long walk along the beach, passing many other resorts, and ours was, by far, the nicest! A major bonus is, the hotel is only about 20 minutes from the airport!

You get what you pay for

Too many locals trying to sell their products on the beach & on site time share. Day trips was another sales pitch every step of the way. Air conditioning broke down twice in 1 week but it was fixed. Had to fight to get 2 room keys as only 1 is allowed. Family of 4 but no connecting rooms given as requested. Rooms were far from each other. Some of the staff at the front desk were not very helpful. Restaurant staff had their own preferred people to serve. 2 restaurants yet 3 a la carte promised.  [... read more]No available chairs at pool nor on beach during the whole time as people reserve them early in the morning. Other issues but enough said.

Best Week Ever

I went with a bunch of friends (university students) for February reading week and it was a blast! It was a great place to go to meet other young people (though there were also families and retired individuals around as well). The food was delicious (especially the fried chicken)! The drinks were also well made and very strong. The beach was beautiful (I noticed walking down to other resorts they had more stuff washing up on their beach). The hotel staff were professional and friendly. The rooms [... read more] were clean and spacious, and the maid did a great job of tidying the rooms up each day for you. The resort had a great atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it to university students looking for a fun place to go!

Fun Times

The resort is a great place for university students to go to. The food was great, drinks were strong, and there were a ton of other university students there during the February reading week. The workers at the hotel were all super friendly and made an effort to get to know your name and give you a high five when they saw you. They also went out of their way to provide great service. Overall, I had a blast with my group of friends and made a ton of new friends as well!
