Good service

The beach is awesome!!! Recreation is very good,the food is acceptable although the availability of the restaurants was awful.Public areas are good and well maintained. Service at the bar in the pool is excellent.

Nice view resort

Facilities are very poor in the room. We only had one table lamp in a good condition. Standard lamp without lampshade. Aisle light doesn't work. Two lamps in a room can't provide enough light. Bathing supplies wasn't provided everyday. TV can't be seen clearly. Plus a large number of mosquitoes. Unbearable!!!

Excellent resort !

Roc Arenas resort was amazing! The staff, the people over all, the place was excellent! Didn't give me one chance to complain! They loved us just like we were there own! The food was so good! I would surely go back! The 24/7 hour bar, the pool (bar included), the beach , they were out of this world! There were many services such as massages, pedi/mani, facials and much more! The palm trees and the coconuts were just great and refreshing. I would love to go back! 5/5 !

Nice relaxing vacation

the resort was average the grounds were very well kept the ocean was beautiful with very clean beaches .The beach bar had excellent service those 2 girl went above and beyond to make you happy ..good JOB ladies; no service in lobby and very little in buffet... the rooms were great for the first 5 days then not so nice after maid changes. But over all it was very clean and I had a good time....

Great Family Vacation

The hotel was great. Single mom travelling with two boys aged 12 and 14. Entertainment was fun, food was good, rooms were clean. The grounds at the hotel were immaculate. Staff was friendly. Kids loved the pool as well as myself. I loved the beach. Clean and lots of chairs and shelter at both the beach and the pool. Check in was quick. Overall we all thought it was a great hotel and would go back and definitely recommend it to others.

Fantastic week in the sun!

We went on our agents recommendation that this hotel would be a hit... And she was right!! Beautifully decorated, impeccable grounds, great pool and amenities, and one of the most breathtaking beaches! Loved the free catamaran rides right off our beach...or pay a little extra and go out snorkeling for an hour. Buffet was always well stocked with a couple of grilling stations and a fresh pasta bar. If you want to go off the resort, you have to hit the Beatles Bar in Varadero ( free shuttle from the resort) and also go on the) jeep safari. This was the highlight of the trip! Overall we had a fantastic week and would definitely go back!!

Perfect

absolutely beautiful. perfect location awesome friendly staff, activities for everybody. Nice short walk to the beach from any building, restaurants and bars available all over. Not far from in town, forsure would go back in a heart beat

Absolutely the best

The resort is smaller which made it friendly and assessible in all ways. Cozy enough that the employees remember you at dinner etc, and you get to know them by name, we will be going back here again. This was our 4th trip to Cuba and by far the best of 3 visits to varadero

Good value - if you set expectations accordingly

Very nice place

The pool was deeper then other places I have been and it was so clean. The first night we were there the power went out all over the resort. Because I didn't get to look around before hand I didn't see that some of the walk ways were uneven and broken. Which turns out I fell on the walk way , it was very painful but I survived. Some of the guest were so rude there were a few that just push in front of us to get something to eat. It was disgusting that their parents didn't teach them to wait their turns. It wasn't just the kids but the adults too. The grounds were very well taken care of. The front desk were amazing I had forgotten my coat on the bus and they helped me find it and told me were to pick it up. I was surprise that my Rep didn't take us there to pick it up but told us how to get to their main office on the bus. It turned out we had fun on the bus as we went downtown. We traveled with Air Canada and the money you need to pay to get in and out of the country was added into our ticket, that was nice we didn't need to worry about having the correct money to get in and out of the country. But the flight was kind of unpleasant, that company did not offer a drink for free or anything for refreshments. The pool bar people were wonderful, we gave them a good tip almost right away and after that we didn't really have to say what we wanted each time, they remembered us. They were friendly and I thought they were great. In all I did have a good time for the week we were there. There was a few very windy days but the sun was out and that was good for us.

Room had cockroaches

Public areas, dining rooms, bars were good. Arrived Tuesday. Noticed roaches in room on Saturday night.Since we were leaving Tuesday we did not complain. Killed about 8 of them between Saturday and Tuesday when we left. We were in room 129.

Wonderful staff and great resort

Although it was not a new hotel, it was very very clean and comfortable. The pool and bars and food along with the staff was amazing, I look forward to visiting that resort again in future years. It was great for our family, and are single friends that accompanied us, there was something for everyone!

Friends & Fun

Travelled with a group of 8 adults and7 children (ages 11-15). Rooms were adequate (beds hard, pillows lean) and clean. Shower had warm but not hot water but friends in another building had no problem. Pool was perfect. Buffet was okay. Italian and International a la cartes were good. Really enjoyed the burgers at the Snack Bar and lunch at the Beach Buffet. Bar service was never a problem. Coffee Shop was great. Beach was fabulous, never a problem to get a lounger. Great staff, terrible food, and dirty rooms.

The food was the worst I ever had. I went there with low expectations for food based on previous trips to Cuba, but this was beyond bad. The rice was ALWAYS undercooked, and there was ketchup,mustard drizzled on everything for decor. I've would have starved if it were not for the decent breakfast and hotdog options they had.

Hotel

Hard to find a clean table at the buffet. Was told more than once that reservations at special dining places were full but whenI went on my reserved days the restaurants were less than a third full. When speaking to sunwing rep he keep interrupting me to speak to others walking into his office.

Amazing Trip

Stayed Sept 23-Oct 7th 2015. It took me a long time to review this hotel as I broke my leg while on this trip, so I have been busy with surgeon, recasts, etc. Also because this is a very important review to me. That being said, this hotel became very dear to my heart and I will break things down for you the best I can. Staff, first and foremost. The bar staff are very attentive and very little time ever waiting for a drink. There is very good English spoken at this resort. Customer service is amazing!!! Food: The new buffet is now open, best food service design I have ever seen. Other hotels would certainly benefit from this template. Even before it was open, I heard many complain, no reason at all!!! Even at the beach while awaiting the renovation the staff did the best they could, which was all in. I believe sometimes the onus of an issue lies with the guest, not the hotel. The food is the best I have ever had on the islands and hats off to Chef! There truly is something for everyone. Pool and beach are amazing, although I admit, due to my accident I was only in each once. The beach is well maintained and secure and the pool is clean and fun for all ages. Bars are available 24/7 and coffee bar open lengthy every day. There is no smoking at the bars but there are tables close by that you may smoke at. Bar staff go above and beyond for you. Grounds are so well kept!!!! The grounds keepers work so hard at the resort and their efforts are really appreciated. They are meticulous and very knowledgeable about the specific trees, fruits and flowers. Rooms and housekeeping: We were in a suite in block 1100. Very roomy and lovely. We were first on the 2nd floor until I broke my leg 3rd day into the trip. They promptly switched us to the ground floor. Of course ground floor had more bugs but remember it's the same as where we all live. Housekeeping was, unfortunately not so good. Of course I left ample tip money each day anyway. In all fairness to housekeeping, friends said their housekeepers were great and the lobby and washroom ladies were amazing. Nothing was ever out of stock in this hotel! Miscellaneous: There is a free shuttle a couple of times a day into the flea market part of town where there is also shops and food. Children's Club is closed due to off peak season but there is still an awesome playground that parents may take their children to, not to mention that animation staff still manages to include children with side games. The lady who runs the animation team is so sweet, as are they all. I wish to Thank all staff for my experience at this hotel even though I did not get to fulfill it to it's potential. As far as complaints I've read about this hotel, I dismiss them all. Sometimes it's the way people approach things. Treat others as you would want to be treated, it goes a long way. Management and staff are approachable, willing to listen and will address your concerns the best they can. Even though I broke my leg on an uneven pathway going to my room, staff was very prompt with my medical needs and very helpful. I miss this hotel and the staff already and wish I had at least 1 week back of my two week trip to do over standing on two feet. I'm sure I would have gained even more insight. If anyone has a magic wand, wave it now and let me go back and finish my trip! Finally, I recommend this hotel from families with small children, young couples, singles and seniors. Just what we expected!

The place is a little outdated but they are currently working on updating certain areas. Overall very clean! Was surprised at the food, ate in the al la cart very tasty, the buffet was bland but we had brought our own hot sauce to spice it up. The staff were very nice. Entertainment wasn't bad either. For what we paid a nice place and would go there again.

Beautiful resort!

My husband and I stayed here from June 3rd to June 10th. We were looking to relax and reconnect after having our son, but also wanted to let loose a bit ;). This resort had all we were looking for and needed. Plus more. The food was great. I LOVE to eat and eat often. I did not go hungry here. The coffee bar is superb! Ajon at the swim up pool bar is the nicest!! The guests were great we met some amazing people. The staff was pleasant. There were a few bartenders or servers that werent so happy. [... read more] But 3 out of the at least 30 we met doesnt ruin my day!! We will for sure go back to ROC Arenas Doradas!

Very nice, clean resort!

Everything was clean, resort is small so getting around is no problem, all rooms are close to everything. Al a carte restaurants were great. Food was the only downfall, but you did not starve. The staff was good. The beach was the best, clear water and white sand.

Beautiful hotel, however not much to do

This was a beautiful place to stay! Most of the staff were very nice and the rooms were always clean! There was not much entertainment during the day or at night so we often ended up going in to Varadero. The food was not very good at the buffets but the al la carte restaurants were good! Overall, it was nice for a beach getaway but I wouldn't recommend it for a full week. There just was not a whole lot to do.
