Great Resort but reception and pool were under construction

We really enjoyed our stay however we were disappointed that the large pool was closed. It was under reconstruction and there was dirt everywhere. I knew the reception area was under construction but there were no reviews that I saw that warned us about the pool. Varadero beach is beautiful buffet food was okay but we really enjoyed the a la carte restaurants.

Very nice and friendly people

We had a great time. The food was okay and the nice people working there were great. The shows at night were also very amusing snd entertaining. Oh and don’t forget the beautiful beach, always clean and blue! I’m definitely returning to Melia Las Antillas!

A wonderful vacation destination !

As my first Cuba vacation, resort and rooms were very clean. Staff are very polite and welcoming.Lots of food options for any taste and diet. Yard and pool are well maintained at all times and kept clean. Lots of free activities at the beach and some for very reasonable price. I sure consider this resort for my next trip.

26th time, always feels like home

this is for us the best hotel and people in all of Cuba. food amazing and everyone is so friendly, some becoming part of our "family". if you want a home away from home, this is the place..... ......

Great vacation

Staff are nice, food was good, they have freshly made bakery, enough variety of fruit and vegetable, Grilled food was satisfying and loved coffee. The beach and pool, both were clean. I liked live music in the bar and almost all performances. I will be back soon!

Not bad but staff makes it fun

Rooms weren’t bad...food wasn’t the best but the beach is beautiful! All the staff work so hard and really make the experience! Book a la carte reservations...much better than buffet. This resort is more for couples and older people, while we went on a girls trip we found ourselves relaxing more than part Omg. The beach is never crowded and there’s always a chair!

Not for honeymooners!

Grounds: The resort looks like a typical Cuban resort. The pools are clean but doesn't have a pool bar. There's also 4 bed type things alongside the pool area to lay and relax in addition to pool chairs. There's a lot of water related activities in the beach and pool so there's tons to do. The gardens are well kept as well but the best part of the resort is the beach. The water is clean and clear. The water isn't too deep so you can swim around and be safe. Public Areas: Not at all impressed [... read more] by the lobby or the internal public areas. There's black mold, lots of roof leaks during the rain. The elevators are out of order. There's no AC as they keep windows and doors open. Room: Standard. We got the honeymoon package so we were excepting something beautiful but it was like every room in the resort except a king bed and a side window (it was the room in the end) giving an ocean view (from a very far distance). The bathtub had black stains that won't come out. The water pressure (understandably) was very low. Dining: Worst food I ever had but I am told you don't go to Cuba for the food. Even the la carte restaurants had blah food. The meat is not real meat. There's bugs in the food or the dishes. The food is not labeled for the buffet so you actually have no idea what you are eating. The bars water down the drinks, was honestly drunk maybe twice and only because the VIP lounge let us make our own drinks. And to any green tea addicts - there green tea was peppermint tea. Overall, zero romantic vibes!

Not so great second time around!

This is our second time at this resort. We arrived in the rain and it had been raining for a few days. The lobby had buckets and towels sopping up the water coming in the ceilings and windows. The ceilings were black with mold. The dining room also had buckets and molding ceilings. Our room was dry though. The grounds of the resort were well manicured and neat. Three of the four of our group came home with digestive issues. One even got the Ducoral vaccine and still had stomach problems. Melia Las Antillas

Hotel is in good location beaches are very nice providing that the weather is good any time rain elevator is not working out of 4 units 2 are on repair for 2 weeks noting has bin done the third working 50% of the time fourth is the only one working

Not alot to complain about

The people are wonderful! We had fun with Annie and the pool staff. The dining staff were excellent too. My husband's and my room was great, yet my kids room was musty and damp(even the sheets). My kids asked me not to say anything as they were afraid they might be moved to another building. It certainly didn't spoil our trip. The food was good and we certainly didn't starve, yet a little repetitive. They supply various condiments to spice it up if you choose to. The outside pools and gardens were amazing.

I just got back May 10/2018 For the price overall was fair. I maybe a bit picky cause we meet people that have been going to that same resort for over 10 years. I found the staff accomadating but not overly friendly.In the past I have visited resorts in Cuba and the staf were entertaining. I was disappointed with the linens and towels they were clean but very old. I like going to hotels that have nice white plush towels and devet style bedding. BUT EVERYTHING WORKED. We met people from othe [... read more]r resorts who paid about the same and bragged about the bedding . I was jealous. The food was substandard but better than other places I have stayed in Cuba. Again I like more fresh fruits and salads and food i recognize, understanding they have had much of there crops destroyed. The main dinning room did not have any linens on the tables so it felt like a cafeteria and it was very dated. It was very clean I must say that. The beach and pool unforgettable. They were not that creative with the cocktails, so I didn't drink much, which is unusual for me. I personally would try to find a newer resort for my next trip... but I can't wait to go back to Cuba. TRIPCENTRAL EXTREMELY EFFICIENT, I give them a 10 out of 10. I would give the hotel a 6 and the pool and gardens a 10.

Las Antillas

We really liked the resort, although a little dated it was clean and bright. They continually maintained the grounds, cleaned the pools, fixing the elevator which was non functional all week. The food in the a la carte restaurants was amazing! The beach was fantastic. Great sunsets!! The people were friendly!

Pretty good

The room was very nice - 5th Floor Ocean View. The hotel is back far from the beach so the room overlooks the grounds of the hotel, the pool and then the ocean beyond the trees. The Concierge service was well worth it. Elizabeth was excellent and the lounge was a nice bonus. The buffet food was ok. You could always find something to eat. The beach burger bbq was very good. The rooms were very clean and the maid was very good. All the staff seemed to do whatever they could to be helpful. Of course, the beach was beautiful. The hotel needs to add beach drink servers and cleaners. A lot of cigarette butts and smoking everywhere. The guy in the motorized cart driving up and down the beach selling coconut and pineapple drinks was annoying and we watched him cut his straws and leave the garbage on the beach. Some rooms overlooked the hotel patio which could be very noisy. The entertainment was good but somewhat repetitive. Note - there were two camels and an emaciated horse tied up in a field out front of the neighbouring hotel. I think they gave rides or something. Don't do it! Animals in poor condition.

Cheap and cheerful as advertised

If you are looking for more than a basic beach vacation, consider a newer and higher rated resort. This is our third time staying at the Melia Las Antillas. A family of women, ages 27, 47 and 60. We go for the beach and nothing more. We know what to expect. No surprises, good or bad. By far the beach and the staff make your stay. The hotel is seeing its age with wear. I would recommend paying for the upgraded room (at which point you may want to consider a higher rated resort). The food is plain [... read more] but you won't starve. Pizza at lunch at the Italian restaurant is the best. We never waited in line for food (stories we heard from other large resorts) and always got a choice spot on the beach, as long as we were there by 9:00. If we go back again for a fourth time, I would like the management to recognize our confidence in the resort with a few perks, like maybe a room upgrade and late check-out.

Amazing staff and resort

This hotel is an older resort with lots of charm. We stayed in a bungalow with a king bed and large sitting area. Bed was comfy, food was good, staff are helpful friendly and welcoming! Beach is heaven on earth!!!

Decent resort

Hotel is older and dated but its still pleasant enough. Had basic room but changed to one quieter near back of resort. Pool and beach were awesome..only downfall were all the sand flea bites we both got from beach. Had no complaints about the food for Cuba. Tipping will get you better service. Staff friendly with the exception of a couple. Overall good trip. Will go back to Varadero at some point.

Beautiful Pool Area

Melia Las Antillas, Veradero, Cuba: Beautiful beach - very clean pool and deck - hotel rooms were very clean although linens could use updating. Staff exceptionally helpful and polite. If you're not hung up on gourmet food this is a good place to vacation.

Nice resort

Dated but clean hotel. Staff were amazing,special shout out to chino on the beach and Teresa by the pool 😎no signs of hurricane whatsoever. Make sure you bring a bubba less trips to the bar ha ha!! Entertainment was everynite and enjoyable!!

Nice time!!!

The hotel itself is one of the oldest, but it’s kept in good running condition. Love the stuff people are so nice and helpful!!! The food in the buffet could have been a lot warmer but it was plentiful. Beach is beautiful!!! One thing I can say Cuba got the most amazing beaches!!!! Overall had a very nice time!!!!

Very relaxing

This has been one of the cleanest, tidiest resorts in Cuba. The staff are very friendly and courteous. It is very low key, so if you are looking for a place to get away and relax, this is definitely the right place.
