PUJ BARCELO Bavaro Beach Resort

Our Vacation at the Barcel Bavaro Beach Resort was amazingly Awesome. Adults only. Rooms were spacious with one heck of a Super size King plus bed. Lots of storage space to unpack like you were at home. Our maid service was Fantastic We were greeted everyday with a beautiful smile, Beer, pop, juice, Water, chips, snacks were topped up daily. Guest Service was absolutely on top of all your needs/concerns. There were info boards, computers. Internet you had to buy The Gift Shop was Small. But the Market on the Beach is Humungous. Easy to bargain. Water Sports was HUGE. OCEAN FRONT WAS CLEAN. ENTERTAINMENT WAS ALL DAY LONG. THE NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS WERE VERY COLORFUL. VERY TALLENTED People WALKING THE GARDENS I CAME ACROSS PEACOCKS. THE YARD WORKER GAVE ME PEANUTS THE BIRDS ATE OUT IF MY HAND. THERE WAS A TRAIN THAT RAN EVERY 10 MUNUTES FROM MORNING TILL 3am. The Buffet was huge with a great variety. I sampled foods I thought I’d never eat. Cooked to perfection. The pools were very spacious and well maintained. I cannot comment on the excursions. I focused on much needed relaxation at the Beach and Pools The Palace Hotel next door was Humongous... with so many stores. A Casino, AMAZINGLY BIG. THE BEACH HOTEL NEXT TO THE PALACE HAD A LOT OF ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. A PIRATE WATER PARK. IF YOU WANT TO TRY ANY OF THE CULTURAL RESTAURANTS IN THE PALACE YOU COULD BUT HAD TO PAY IF YOU WERE NOT STAYING THERE. WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE THEY ALSO HAVE A CASINO OPENED 24 HOURS. BUS RIDE FROM AIRPORT 17 MINUTES AWESOMENESS AIRCONDITIONING WORKED WELL I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT IN PUNTA CANA IT WAS PEACEFUL AND NOT SO BUSY AS THE OTHERS WERE. THE STAFF WORK SO HARD

We were very pleased with the resort.

The amenities were great. While the rooms are obviously not new, they were well maintained. The only problems we encountered was with the bath tubs that we found to be difficult to get in and out of especially for my husband who has leg problems. Walk-in shower equipped rooms would be at great asset for disabled people. The food was always fresh and beautifully presented. The best part of this facility is it's staff. Beautiful resort

Everything was clean, efficient, and very friendly. The food was very good. The beach was excellent. The grounds were landscaped perfectly. The shuttle service to the Bavaro Palace was always available which was especially nice for seniors. The pool, buffet, and bar were centrally located around the rooms so there was not much walking.

Third Time's the Charm!

This is the third time for us at this venue. We stayed twice before (2001 and 2003) and were surprised at the many upgrades since those long ago vacations. The grounds were groomed to the nth degree; the guest rooms are roomy and clean; maid service was excellent, and while we normally prefer not to dine at buffets, this one was a surprise because the menu selections were plenty, varied, and interesting, so we found ourselves drawn to the Carib buffet. We dined at two of the reservations-only [... read more] restaurants, especially enjoyed the Chez Gourmet. However, the servers were so accommodating and polite in the Carib that we found ourselves drawn to it. Unfortunately, for some reason, we could never find "snacking" venues at the resort to tide us over between scheduled dining times, and for later in the evenings--we prefer to dine lighter and more often rather than three large meals. Clean large beach towels were always available, pool areas were spotless and pools were temperate and pristine. We particularly enjoyed seeing a beautiful peacock strutting about here and there with his more drab harem of peahens following. All in all, a wonderful venue. My husband enjoyed it as much as I did.

Very impressed with this resort

The grounds were very clean, the people were very helpful. The food was very good. the weather was fantastic. I loved that we could visit the Palace. Lots of variety in the drinks at the bar. Loved that bottled water was available at any bar and you did not have to stand in line for it.Would go back to this resort

Quality Resort

Our stay there was great. The staff ( all staff) were so friendly and accommodating. Food was good. They have a huge selection. With that being said, there wasn't a 24 hour "burger pit" so to say because we were always hungry at dinner times and if you didn't eat then you were starving later. Other than that it was a great resort, fun activities, and lots to do.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort

We were quite disappointed to be honest... -We had to change rooms the day after check in (they had nothing available at check-in). The rooms are dated and somewhat clean. -We should have been made aware that there was NO WIFI, ALL GUESTS HAD TO PURCHASE WIFI, which made for many very upset guests… its 2019, how can it be that there is no WIFI as part of the hotel booking?!!!! It cost us $90.00 US = $120.00 CAD over and above the cost of our vacation package … customers should all be [... read more] made aware and reimbursed this cost and the travel agencies should have that cost covered as part of the package … this was not fair and should be changed/revised moving forward. -The adults only (where we stayed and paid extra for) had no adult offerings, the casino, disco, lounges, coffee houses, shops, various restaurants and cigar lounge and bar, were all at the family property … how does that make sense?! In our humble opinion, the properties should be reversed, adults only should be moved to where the family property is, it would read so much better ad provide the adults with all adult offerings (including the swim up bar). The adults only property, provided little to no options day or night. The 1 bar was substandard, uninviting and had ongoing walk through traffic for guests to get to the theater, to the front desk, to the 1 restaurant, to the shop, rooms, etc. The theater had constant walk through traffic between the seating and the stage ~ how does that make for a unobstructed view of the shows? The bar/theater/front desk lounge area, was constantly smoke filled as the peaked roof and ceiling fans, pushed the copious amount of cigarette smoke right back to ground level. -So much vacation time was spent in customer service, booking dinner reservations, the website made no mention of having to do this. There was, at any given time, 1-2 customer service people to hundreds of guests (lineups), not a good ratio...and takes up so much of the guests time. PLEASE advise your future customers of this. -Extra charges were expected for over half the restaurants and all in US (as expected), how can there be costs for restaurants when, this was a all inclusive resort and sold to us as a all inclusive vacation package? -The positives are : the beach was simply spectacular, the hotel staff were kind and helpful and the weather was nothing like we are experiencing here in Ottawa. We ask that YOU PLEASE be clear with your clients on the facts of this property … IT IS "NOT" A 5 STAR property and should not be sold as one. We met many lovely guests from all over the world and they all echo our sentiments and will also be proactive, in contacting their travel agent to ensure that this not be sold as a 5 star, free WIFI, full amenity property … it most definitely is not! We will not recommend this property and we will not be returning. Hope this does not fall on deaf ears and that Tripcentral, take all reviews seriously and take steps to updating this properties description. Barcelo Bavaro Beach - Adults only

There is two part for this Hotel. The Barcelo Bavaro Beach the adult side and the Barceló Bavaro Palace the family side. After having spent 10 Days on the adult side only "The Bavaro Beach Side" I am convinced that the 5 stars rating is as a result of the family side. The most updated infrastructure and the most available amenities are on the family side. The Adults side infrastructure, accommodations and décor is dated. Reminded me of a Cuba resort. This should not be deemed a complimen [... read more]t. The cleaning staff do their best to maintain the area clean. The Casino, the bar lounges, cigar lounge the Disco and swim up bars, amenities of normally found on a Adults resort, were all located on the family side. 8 of the 11 Restaurants are on the family side and the majority and although a so called all-inclusive resort, most of them required additional cost. Either $15.00US per person or $30.00 US person. WIFI is not inclusive and cost $55.00 US per device for a 10 Day stay. In 2019, WIFI should be inclusive. So from my perspective, there are money grabs for the restaurants and WIFI. The grounds are very tidy, the pool to beach geography is great. The Beach is very clean. The pool bars and serving staff were very polite and courteous and would not shy on the preparation of drinks. Expect to be served in plastic cups. For us there were too many amenities and activities missing on the adult side that I would rate it a 3 Star vice a 5 star. last year we went to the Valentin Imperial in Mexico and we are realizing that we got spoiled and our expectations of 5 star resorts has increased exponentially. If I would go back, I would stay on the Family side and further explored/enjoyed the amenities it had to offer, that is, if you can deal with having lots of children around you and an over populated beach side.

Beautiful destination !!!

Returned for our second visit to Barcelo Bavaro Beach . Everything was just as expected .... FANTASTIC !!! The resort is very clean and well groomed , the service is amazing ... your drink glass never gets empty before someone offers another . The staff are all very pleasant and helpful . You always feel welcomed and special . Food options were plentiful and tasty . The adult side is very quiet and relaxing .... but if you want action , head over to the Palace (also included) were things go all  [... read more]night . The beach is beautiful with plenty of loungers available . The pool is very clean and refreshing with plenty of loungers also available . The only down side is there is not a swim up bar .... but the efficient servers make up for that . I would highly recommend this resort for couples looking for a hassle free holiday in a paradise setting .

Beautiful

We travelled to the Bavaro Barcelo Beach (adult side) December 2018. It was a wonderful experience! The buffet food was very good, although they could have changed it up more. The restaurants for the most part were average and I wouldn’t keep high expectations for taste and quality. However, the buffets are splendid. The beach was also average but the resort does a pretty good job at trying to clean the seaweed. The rooms were cleaned nicely and we had no complaints. Food: Buffets at palace and beach 4/5 Restaurants: 3/5 Friendliness of staff: 3/5 Beach: 3.5/5 Pools: 5/5 Weather: 4.5/5 Activities: 4/5 Shows: 4/5 Casino: 4/5 The only thing I didn’t care for were the surcharges for activities at the Palace resort. Bowling, golf, waterpark, kids club etc. All had extra charges. They should consider eliminating this as it’s an ALL inclusive resort. We did some scuba diving and we loved the experience. The spa was awesome and we were happy most of the regular services were included with our package. The gym was also fantastic given it serviced both resorts. Might want to consider opening another gym on the adult side as well. The views from our room were spectacular. Honestly, really good value for the Canadian dollar. A last note, our travel advisor Manuela with Tripcentral was fantastic. We give her our TravelCouple69 FIVE star recommendation!

Chip Resort

Pros: Amazing Beach, probably the beat in Caribe Amazing Water Sport activities Cons: Horrible service everywhere Flies everywhere including main buffet Bad HVAC & Plumbing (old equipment & lack of good maintenance) Too many Russians & Quebecers (smoking everywhere and all the time, no place to avoid secondhand smoking)

Awesome Place

This was an amazing resort. The restaurants and food were fabulous and beautifully presented. We loved that there were some low key activities near the pool (ping pong billiards, shuffleboard, bocchi ball, and some ta le games) that added fun to our vacation. Things were nearby and convenient. The little trains were available to take you to the Palace hotel next door. Entertainment was very good and located at both hotels which was very convenient. We are definitely going back.

Another great vacation at Barcelo Bavaro Beach

This was our third trip to the Barcelo Bavaro Beach. We had an oceanfront King size room. The bed was very comfortable. Love the bathroom with dual sinks and separate toilet and shower area. Cleaning lady did a fabulous job. Floor was so clean as was the rest of the resort including the bathrooms. We found that the restaurants (on both the Beach and Palace side) even better than last year. The Mexican was our favorite. The house wine on the Palace side has improved, however the red  [... read more]wine (didn't try the white) on the Beach side is still not drinkable. Service at the buffet for Lunch was very good, however coffee service at breakfast was still slow, which would have been fine but we were in a bit of a rush to make our tee time at the golf course. All employees extremely friendly. We enjoyed that there were so many places for night entertainment, from the sports bar, to the singing and piano in the lounge next to the casino, not to mention the entertainment show every night which you could catch at either the Beach or Palace side. The beach was spectacular as usual. Love the natural shade from Palm trees. No problem getting chairs and no-one reserved. Seaweed was cleaned up every morning and the water was clear every day. The golf course was absolutely beautiful. We will definitely be returning again.

Premium vs Prestige/Superior

Dated rooms, but great food in the Bavaro Beach Buffet and La Brisa restaurants. Poor service, low quality wine and food in all of the other restaurants, meals cold, food cold, wait staff unprofessional. NO "free" wifi anywhere, unless you selected Premium. If your room card says "Premium" (which includes free wifi and access to ALL restaurants-including the ones that have an extra charge) and your room is in the "Premium" section, it does not really mean "Premium", it is probably Prestige o [... read more]r Superior...double check prior to booking and confirm, either way, they are NOT one in the same. Very inconsistent at the bars, restaurants, in the quality and mixing of drinks. One bar and their staff, though, were top notch, The Bohio, by the pool, in the adult section. Great service, friendly and attentive.

Oh What a Week

Okay so I travelled alone for the first time and the guests and staff made my staff incredible. The room was oceanfront and had an incredible view of the beach. It was far away enough from the pool that it was quiet for daytime siestas, but close enough that if I forgot anything it wasn't a long walk. The room was clean and cool and well kept. Fantastic resort. This is the second time I've stayed at the Beach (adults only) and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The resort is very well maintained, the staff are friendly and there is always a good selection of food.

Clean, good vibe and white sandy beaches.. The best trip I’ve been on.

Starlin is the bomb, everyday he gave us way above average service along with hilarious conversation.. lol.. Thanks man! The resort is huge, you’ll get that cardio in if you want it although there is a small train that rips back and forth throughout the day like every 10-15 mins. Two resorts in one, the beach and palace sides. The beach is like an adult mature kinda vibe, until people get lit.. With a 25+ feel. The palace is full of the younger side plus parents.. and the club is also on  [... read more]this side so you have about a 20-30 min walk there and back from the beach side. The excursions were ok and kind of expensive. the rooms are well taken care of with clean white colour and daily serivice, we had no issues with anything and they provide a lot of water daily. Resort excellent

The resort is beautiful. The hotel staff are very nice. Food was great. The resort is very clean. Absolutely no complaints. But, the Air Transat representative at the hotel, Charleston Perez, was extremely rude and not helpful. On speaking with other guests on our flight, they had the same complaint about him.

A Great Vacation spot in Punta Cana ..

We just got back from the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. It was a fantastic resort with a great beach, and access to it's big brother (The Palace). This resort is focused on 18+ Adults and I found it to be quite a laid back atmosphere (no kids allowed). The beach is beautiful, but on our last 2 days there was a large amount of seaweed that washed up, making access to the water kind'a yucky. There was a cleanup crew, but this amount of seaweed completely overwhelmed them and if was just left  [... read more]for the guests to navigate through to get to the ocean. I am not sure if this is a common problem, but the hotel needs to find a better way of fixing this in the future. The beach Palm trees seemed to be very sparse in there shade coverage, so look for smaller palms to hid under, as the sun is very strong and you will roast quickly (the constant wind makes it seem cooler than it actually is ..) Our room was great, with a fantastic view of the beach and lawn (get room 5052 if possible, tho it is an upgraded cost) Only issue I had was with the bathroom shower which uses a half glass wall instead of a shower curtain which will leave a large puddle of water on the bathroom floor after a shower. The Food is above average, but does not change from day to day, so get reservations to the other restaurants on the complex. Suggestions: Chex Gourmet (which is on the complex). It was by far the best restaurant we went to ... Bring Dress Pants\Shirts\Shoes, as several restaurants only accept casual-formal dress attire .. (saw 2 couples get refused . lol) (The Restaurant Dinner ticket will state the Dress Attire on it ..) All other restaurants are at the Palace (a 10min walk or 5min train ride) Most of the other restaurants are just partial a-la-cart making you have to get your salad and desert yourself. Other restaurants are actually just cafeterias .. We did not try the French, Spanish or Mexican restaurants, but was told the Mexican was terrible. The Casino and Disco plus all shops, etc are at the Palace .. The Nightlife at the Beach is very basic with only a small stage show which ends at 11pm (suggestion is to go to the Rock-In-Roll group show, which plays all your favorite 60\70\80's music .. it is actually not bad) The biggest shows are at the Palace, which has a huge auditorium and lots of seating .. Tip, you will need to tip your room cleaner (approx $2\day) to get all needed towels swapped out .. we missed doing this twice, and had to get the front desk to have them deliver extra towels ... (I usually give a tip at the end of the stay, but they like it daily) Also, tipping your waiter\bartender, etc seems to be the theme here .. (so much for ALL-INCLUSIVE) SO bring lots of US $1 bills .... There are no water sports at the Beach, you have to go down to the Palace for that ...(not sure if it costs tho ..) If you are doing any excursions, suggest the Saona Island and the ATV's If doing the ATV's, bring fully facial sealed eyewear (think construction safety glasses), as the dust and mud will blind you even with normal sunglasses on .. trust me on this!! Saona Island is a Sailing\Speed boat ride to a beautiful island off the DR. You will get lunch and swim time on the island and at a sandy key in the middle of the ocean. It's lots of fun.. bring suntan lotion, towels, swimsuits, sun hats, etc There will be local guys there wanting to take pictures of you for inflated prices ($100\approx 80 pics), suggest you do not pay more than $80! Don't forget to get together with your Guest Services Rep, as he\she will have good info for you ...

Decent Place

The resort was advertised to have wi fi available throughout the resort. Wifi was only available in the lobby of the casino from 4pm to 5pm. As a result I was forced to use my cell phone creating a $500 bill. Spoke to guest services and was offered 30 mins of service. Being lied to and insulted is not what I travel for. Will not return or use tripcentral again.
