Great Value for a 4 star

Everything was very nice at this resort. Rooms are recently renovated and quite spacious. Bed quite comfortable. Only negative is that a few days we had no hot water for a shower at 5pm. The beach is beautiful with white talcum powder sand. No snorkelling and NO palpas for those who need shade. The food decent with a lot of variety. The ala cartes are hit and miss as always. We would definitely consider returning to this resort.

Beautiful resort

We had a great experience! Hotel was very clean, very friendly staff, our room was clean, bright and spacious!! Food was great. Lots of selection of restaurants, something for everyone!! Beach was beautiful! The vendors didn't bother you too much. If you said no, they walked on! Pool was clean too!! Had a great week!! Would highly recommend!

Very nice resort.

I thought the resort was very nice, the pools were great with lots of lounges so there was no problem finding places to sit. The food at the buffet and all of the a la carte restaurants was very good. They did an excellent job for Stacey and Matt's wedding and the wedding dinner at the Italian restaurant was great with terrific food and service. The availability of shuttle service was a great help for some of our family members who need assistance walking longer distances. The beach was very [... read more] clean and well looked after. The only problem, as you are aware, was on the last day when my niece suffered a medical emergency when she was given a drink that had been drugged. I know the hotel and the hospital will deny this and state it was dehydration. However, her symptoms and the quick onset of problems leave no doubt in my mind that she was drugged and in talking with her upon our return this I believe was confirmed by her family physician although nothing can be definitively confirmed because no drug testing was done at the hospital in Punta Cana. Our activities for that day do not support their assessment of heat and dehydration, as we drank lots of water that day before snorkeling and were only back from this excursion about and hour when her symptoms occurred. Very unfortunate that this should have happened and put a dark cloud over what had been a wonderful time with family and friends.

Fabulous resort

Paradisus Punta Cana is a beautiful resort and we enjoyed all the activities, food and especially the beach and pool. Friendly and helpful staff made our stay wonderful. It was a destination wedding for our family and the setup was beautiful.

Very good hôtel

The price is right

The Occidental Punta Cana is a warm and inviting resort. The staff is friendly and a number of the staff are able to speak English. The hotels cleaning staff is responsive to your requests and if you tip them they become your best friend for life, or however long your trip is :) The food is above average, they offer a number of restaurants, Seafood, Chinese, Mexican and of course the Steak house and the beach is great. Lovely resort

The resort was lovely however did not appreciate the harrasing “time share” salespeople especially after derogatory name calling. Food was great and the hotel is beautifully well kept. The beach wasn’t always clean as lots of seaweed however the pool made up for that. Excursions offered were really good especially La Hacienda which I recommend.

Royal level at Occendental: Fabulous

I was there from May 17th to May 24 2018. My stay was just perfect: the room (they gave me a suite), the dining room, the food, the service, the private beach: everything was perfect. The only turndown, at that time there were algue in the water, but we could swim anyway. I recommand Royal level, but I would not go to the regular resort, because the buffet is not at my taste. I noticed that at that time of the year there were plenty of free chairs on the regular section of the beach.

Absolutely loved this resort!

Grounds were beautifully maintained. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. Pool was amazing, lots of lounge chairs available. Beach was incredible and kept cleared of seaweed. Rooms were well cleaned daily and staff always made sure there was coffee for the coffee maker. Oriental restaurant was perfect-had generous serving of succulent Peking duck with roasted veggies. There was lots of excursions to choose from with something for everyone. Warning about the ziplining. Was told there was a 5-6 [... read more] minute walk between some of the platforms. Turns out it was more of a 5-6 minute uphill hike! Despite this, the experience was exhilarating. Nightly entertainment was very professional and energetic, excellent shows every night! Although a large resort, it is well laid out and everything was easy to find. Only thing missing were smiles, especially at the front desk. Overall, an amazing experience.

Beautiful resort!

This resort was not too big and a short walk to the beach, lobby & restaurants. The grounds were impeccable. The beach area was clean and had nice white sand. It was a pleasure to walk the beach in the morning. The public areas such as the lobby & restaurants were very clean. Our room was close to the beach and the quiet pool. Our cleaning lady was very nice and after leaving her some messages & tip, she would provided us with what we needed & more. We enjoyed eating at the buffet restaurant since it was air conditioned and there was a variety of food. As for the other restaurants, we especially liked the Oriental. The Italian and the Steakhouse were also very good. The main pool had a swim up bar and a whirlpool area. It was very relaxing when it wasn't too busy. One negative point is that it was very hot and we had to find shady or cool areas. There wasn't any palapas at the beach and the shady areas under the palm trees were taken. People would also reserve their chairs at the pools...so in the afternoon we would spend most of our time in our room or on our deck. Another negative point is that the time sharing representatives were relentless and very annoying. We avoided them as much as possible. My niece's wedding day was amazing, well organized and lots of fun. We enjoyed some of the entertainment at the theater but found that the main shows would only start after 9:30 PM which was too late for us. Our last day there was very chaotic since our flight with Air Transat was delayed almost 5 hours. We couldn't get a late check out since there was no availability. Check out was at 12:PM and pick up time for the airport was 6:25 PM. Thankfully, we were able to put our luggage in my niece's room since she was staying for another week. Our arrival to Toronto was very late after 3 AM and we didn't get to our room until 5 AM. Needless to say we were very tired and didn't sleep very much. Overall the trip was pleasant and the resort was very beautiful.

AMAZINGGGGGG

I just got back from a friend's wedding, i wish we could party longer but they ended the dance at 10pm. The dinners were all so good all week ; the party pool was amazing and i would 100% come back to this location.

Really nice resort

Very clean resort, rooms, grounds and pool areas. Beach nice too. Food good in general, Mexican and Oriental was our favs. Buffets were OK. Drink was disappointing as they show they have International drinks but when you ask they give you domestic crap. Staff were very friendly, apart from the drinks it was a joy-able trip and would return if the price was right.

Nicely kept!

Nicely kept! The accidental was a very lovely four star resort. The grounds were kept up very nicely. This is a nice size resort not too much walking to get to where you want to go. The beaches are gorgeous! We had the best Ala cart meal we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive at the steakhouse ! Definitely a family resort as there were lots of small children but this did not cause a problem we did not have any air conditioning in the first room we were assigned to and it took two days for u [... read more]s to be moved but once we were that room is fabulous !

Occidental Punta Cana 2018

A great time at the Occidental Punta Cana. The main Lobby bar was excellent with Nordy and Williams taking care of us and Francisco and Edwin amongst others were great at the beach. The ladies cleaning the washrooms at the beach (unfortunately I didn’t catch there names) were wonderful. My wife couldn’t say more about their friendliness and general pleasantness every time she went there.

Great vacation !

We had an amazing week at Occidental Punta Cana. We stayed in a superior room it was very nice and beds were comfortable my only complaint is that the sheets could use some upgrading, however it was a very minor downfall. The resort is beautiful and very clean. Plenty of space and we were always able to find a chair at any of the three pools or the beach. The beach was one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. Food was great always lots of variety at the buffet we also tried the Italian, Mexican and s [... read more]teak restaurant, the steak was definitely a favourite ! Staff were helpful and attentive we didn’t have beach towels in our room when we arrived and at another point during the stay our safe stopped working but both times we called guest services and they sent someone to help us out within a few minutes. A lot of staff were able to communicate in multiple languages and even those who could not did their best to be helpful !The evening shows were unreal very talented performers . There is also a lot of live music going on in the evenings very enjoyable. Don’t have kids myself but I noticed that the resort was very family oriented and there was a lot of activities for kids, they always seemed to be having a good time ! Very satisfied with our stay and would definitely return.

hotel well maintained staff very friendly little bit of a line up at bars but not too bad food was quite good,always found something to eat beach does not have a lot of shade but wanted sun anyway room was renovated so very comfortable would go again

Beautiful Location but poor customer service

We paid a significant amount to upgrade to First Club and were expecting special check-in and other premiere services. We didn't find out about all of the extra services until day 5 of our vacation. Not sure if we were talking to an inexperienced person or someone that just didn't care about customer service. Because of this, we were sitting in over-crowded areas, waiting forever for poor quality drinks and getting poor customer service whenever eating. The room we eventually got was very nice a [... read more]nd up to date. The beach and grounds are gorgeous but the constant swarming local vendors drove us away from the beach. I wouldn't rate this hotel as a 4 star until they sort out there customer service issues. You definitely need to pay the extra money to upgrade to get the 4th star.

Improved conditions

Rooms greatly improved and very nice. Main desk very poor service. Example second day it rained no umbrella in room told main desk and concierge both said they would take care of it, never happened. Inroom fridge did not work took two days to get one that barly worked. Food not the best and every night at dinner was cold.

Wonderful resort

My sister, brother and sister-in-law just got back from a week at this great resort. Beautifully kept grounds, short walk from rooms to the beach or lobby, not too big, no problems getting chairs at the beach or pools, and the meals were fantastic. We loved our meals at every one of the five à la carte restaurants, the buffets were great - we spent most of our days at the beach so often enjoyed the buffet at La Caracole (hello Ana and Felipe!) so you ate by the ocean, though more variety at th [... read more]e main buffet. The room and bathroom were clean, great size patio, and the beds and pillows were so comfortable - everyone remarked on them! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of shopping available on the resort if so inclined. We did a couple of excursions and there were two days when too windy to swim in the ocean, but we spent most of our days walking the amazing, sandy Bavaro beach - you could walk for miles! First time in the DR but we would not hesitate to come back - lovely, friendly people.

Outstanding resort

The occidental was a clean,well maintained grounds,excellent buffet,Mexican,Steak House and Oriental Dining was superb.The only complaint I have was the first day registration and getting keys to our room could be more efficient a lot of time wasted.I would recommend this resort to any traveller and return for a second time if I had the opportunity.
