Amazing resort

My husband and I have been to Varadero many times and have stayed at about four other resorts. We really enjoyed the size of this resort and my husband enjoyed the golf package that is offered. We never had to fight for lounge chairs or elbow our way at the buffet. The al la carts were excellent, especially the Japanese. We found the food to be the best that we have had in Cuba. We would recommend this resort for the golfing, food and the nice touches like violin acts etc. Some one in a previous [... read more] review mentioned the noisy disco which we didn’t see or hear. This is an adult only resort more geared to the middle aged and golf lovers. The beach was beautiful as always. We shall return.

Amazing service

We were late in arrival due to slow customs. We felt the room we got was not what we hoped for. The bellman, Frank Calbot, who we know now for years, took charge and upgraded us to a two bedroom bungalow for no extra charge. Incredible service. Great stay, like other years. One downer, the Italian a la cart dinner was awful. Other than that, we will be back next year. We love Melia las Americas.

Our Favourite Resort

Between myself & my sister and my Husband and I, I've had the wonderful opportunity to visit Melia Las Americas 15 times. I have just arrived home and am already planning for next year. We have spoken to friends about it for years and a couple who we know, the husband was our best man, will be there for two weeks in March. I hope that they see the magic of the place that we do.

Great time at Melia Las Americas

The beach area and grounds are stunning. Lots of fun things to do, like percussion and dance lessons. The food is fresh and healthy. Great service and entertainment. Only complaint: dated furniture in the lobby.

Great Resort!

Hotel was great - very suited to golfers as it is a short walk to the Varadero golf course. The location is great - close to a shopping mall, bus stop and the airport. It has a very nice beach, the water is amazing and very clean. The standard room we had was very nice - lots of storage space for all your clothes, and a great view of the golf course - we saw some amazing sunrises every morning. I really enjoyed getting a cappuccino after my meals and enjoying it outside on the patio - the coffee was very good! Also every night after dinner there was always something going on in the lobby - we had singers and dancers one night, opera the following, a pianist, then a fashion show... the arts and culture are very important in Cuba so the level of entertainment was beyond anything I expected. Definitely I would go back to this hotel - and we met so many others who return year after year!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

BEACH- needs to be cleaned every day Front counter service - poor Manager- poor customer service POOLS- The:" LEVEL" pools are UNDER CONSTRUCTION. There are no pools there. Main Pools are well maintained The beach bar and the games room area are a disgrace for a 4-5 star resort. LEVEL BUNGALOES- Great suite, Great job by Mari Snorkeling- Lester great job- Masks leak. Our vacation

our room was clean / spacious/ daily maid service / the grounds and hotel was clean / many staff there to help with our personal needs / great entertainment nighty / my fiancé and I are musical and the piano was readily available to us to entertain as a couple and with their extremely talented entertainers / ur travel agent Tammy did a great job ensuring all went well / it’s our first time to this hotel but have been to Cuba many times / we are planning to return again to this hotel in a few [... read more] weeks !!!

Resort is good but not good entertainment

Buffet is good but dont have much variations. Agent cannot be reached. Room is great cleaned and new. Not enough pool. The other pool at the Level are under renovations but the agent from Hola sun didnt inform us. Unexpected situation.

Great resort but not perfect

This was a very nice resort: Pros: Beautiful beach, not crowded, lots of shaded chairs, clean sand and good drink service. Food choices were very good for Cuba, not known for being a gastronomic destination! Some very sweet staff in the buffet restaurant which offered a nice selection. Helpful staff in reception, especially Paloma in the level upgrade dept. - she made our week by upgrading our room to the bungalow suite. My friend who looked after the beautiful falcon is a great guy, always fist pumping me whenever we see each other and smiling. That bird is his baby and he takes great care for that precious bird of prey. Cons: The hotel is 25 years old and showing it. I paid for a premium ocean view room in the main hotel, 4th floor. Opened the door and my wife and I took one whiff and smelled a heavy musty, moldy smell. This room looked like it was frozen in time with mid-eighties decor. The bed was harder then a gurney. Quick trip back to reception as this was not going to cut it for an 8 night stay! Paloma saw our despair ( we were amicable about it and polite about our dismay with the room) she understood and arranged for a change to the bungalow area. One catch, pool area was still under construction but we could make that call. The suite was fabulous, new, fresh, modern, lots of storage, softer bed with double mattresses and a big modern bathroom with walk-in shower and huge rain-head. Sold. That made our trip, and we were happy. The Robleza restaurant staff are quite unhappy, not friendly and hardly crack a smile. We never felt really welcomed and more of an inconvenience. Nothing is perfect but the Melia las americas really needs to invest in completely gutting and renovating the main hotel, especially the rooms. Also, one more item, if you’re looking for dancing, DJ, disco .. good luck! They did have one or two nights themed with some music and DJ but don’t expect much else the rest of the time. Hope golf and beach is your thing, because this hotel offers little then some shows at night that we’re good but repetitive. The dancers were extremely talented and versatile but they need to step up the entertainment variety. Final verdict: We probably will never go back to Cuba for a while if ever, but it is a place to get hot sun, sand and beach at a lower cost then other islands. We typically are not overly critical because we know Cuba has problems and restrictions which prohibits them from being truly what they could be .. they are beautiful people with big hearts and work with the resources they have. I think our evaluation is fair and honest of our experience as paying customers that chose to spend our money and time on a vacation here!

Great Time!

We had a great one week at the resort, the weather was amazing all week (a little windy!), and our room was 30 meters from the ocean! The resort itself was very well kept and clean, and the food was better than at some of the previous resorts we've visited. All in all I give it an 8/10!

Golf Heaven

The Hotel was more modern than I had originally thought. The food was abundant and varied, and the staff were fantastic, warm and friendly. The ala carte restaurants were also a nice change away from the buffet. Ping pong volleyball, and well the golf was outstanding.

Beautiful resort

Beautiful beach, amazing golf, relax or participate in activities. Sit in the lobby at night and enjoy a drink and listen to live entertainment or go to the Theater and watch the shows. Enjoy dinner at the a la carte restaurants. Take a walk around the grounds, there’s so much to do

Excellent Resort

The whole resort was so nice and looked after, grounds were clean and well manicured. Lobby, restaurants and bathrooms were very clean, rooms were great. Staff and service was 5 star, they were all so happy and enjoyable to be around. Can't wait to go back!

Love cuba

This is a beautiful hotel with excellent variety of good food, many swimming pools, beautiful clean beach. Excellent night entertainment. Close to a gorgeous golf club. Their sunset is breath taken. Very friendly service.

Best combination of resort and golf - 4th time back

We had a great time, from the food to the golf. Staff was always cheery, helpful in any way they could be. The beach and ocean is great, the grounds are well kept. Evening music in the lobby was a nice touch, from the piano & sax to the opera voices. The ease of being able to have breakfast and then walk over to the golf course and play was great. Pre-book your first round of the day using the app, that way everything is paid (cart fee only) and you just have to walk in and show the confirmative. Very simple and non time consuming. Food was always available, sometimes too much (will have to shed a couple of pounds). Fresh fish of all types, chicken, beef and various other specialties. Did not visit the al la carte this time. Understand that the internet sucks, so don't have high expectations, it was actually nice to unplug for the week. We were 3 golfers staying in one room, they had 3 separate beds for us, without asking. All I can say, what's not to like, enjoy it's a great place.

Our first visit to Cuba

Even though the hotel is a little tired, it was comfortable enough for us. The bath towels were a little thin on material but they served their purpose. The beach and ocean is top notch, which is why we went. The nightly entertainment in the lobby was very good. Many talented singers, dancers and instrumentalists. The patio on the ocean side was a great place to lounge and enjoy a beverage, a light lunch and listen to the live music during the late afternoon. The food was very good. Was disappointed that none of them served coffee or tea. Would have been nice with the desserts. The servers, wait staff, chefs at the grilling stations, valets and front desk reception were all great. They were all pleasant and tried to make us feel welcomed. The Varadero golf course next door was great. Good condition, lots of traps and bunkers and ample fairways. It’s a busy place so book Tee times asap.

Great Resort

The resort was kept clean and tidy. The grounds were manicured. Buffet was great, lots of variety. Alla cart restaurants were some of the best I have been to in Cuba. Room was nice, we would have liked a King bed instead of the 2 mattresses together to make a King. First time in 10 trips to Cuba I have played golf. Great location next to the Varadero Golf club. Great value $33.00 CUC for 1/2 cart and 18 holes of golf. Course in nice condition. Lots of scenic holes along side the ocean.

Fabulous resort, amazing vacation!!

Melia Las Americas was an awesome resort with lovely people and great service. Beautiful beach, grounds and pools. I have been to different resorts across Cuba and the food here is the best I've had so far! Really enjoyed the a la carte restaurants and the variety in the buffet restaurant - wow! Had a fabulous week and will return for sure! If you are a golfer, the course is beautiful...especially the 18th!

Great All Round Resort

Resort clean/well kept, attn to detail very good, staff. Food good/plentiful. Staff efficient/friendly/helpful. Entertainment in lobby most nites as well in theatre. Lots of lounge chairs/great beach. Very popular for 18 hole golf - would definitely return

Keeps Getting Better!

This was our third visit and it just keeps getting better! The most impressive change was the quality of the food. It was wonderful! The beach is stunning and the rooms never disappoint. The golf course was busy but very accommodating. We will be planning our next visit soon!
