This was my second time vacationing at the Bavaro Princess. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and are maintained daily. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. If you have any issues you can call guest services and someone comes to look after you right away. It's quite impressive.
We enjoyed the food very much...as a result I came home a few kilos heavier ha ha. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach, what can I say other than wow! The only real issue I had was with the ven[... read more]dors on the beach, they didn't harrass when you said no and they were friendly, they just came around too often...I didn't really consider this an annoyance though. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation in paradise, this is the place to go.

We had a good time
Visited with my girlfriend for a one week stay in a platinum bungalow February 2018. We are from Guelph, Ontario.
Positives:
Beach. Clean white sand. Large waves. Clear water. Most beautiful beach I've ever seen.
Food. We eat at the Teppanyaki, Chinese, and Lobster restaurants and all three were very good. McPrincess was great at the beach and loved the burgers. The buffet was decent for dinner but was not very good for breakfast or lunch. Seafood was good. We didn't get sick at all and [... read more]tried a lot of food, so that alone is a positive.
Animals. Lots of wild birds and reptiles around. It was nice.
Layout. Resort had a nice rainforest feel. It was very large. I could see this being a turn-off if you are older or have mobility issues or just don't simply like waking. We actually really liked the walks and layout.
Neutral:
Pools. They're OK at best. Very dated and clearly not well maintained.
Rooms. We were in the platinum bungalow. The rooms are really dated, somewhat dirty, and had terrible plumbing. The bed was a negative. They need a big investment to renovate.
Service. It varied greatly but averaged just "alright". A majority of the service staff are not fluent in English.
Grounds. A lot of construction going on and overall not very well maintained.
Negatives:
Vendors. They're everywhere. You're being asked to buy something consistently. In the lobby, on the resort, by the pools and on the beach. I think I averaged 25-50 unwarranted selling interactions per day. It was bad. Resort really needs to investigate this.
WiFi/Internet. What year is it? I bet some resorts had had better internet in the 90s. Totally unacceptable.
This resort is NOT a five star resort.
I would recommend this resort if you are looking for a great beach vacation with average food. Do not come here if you are looking for five star service and/or a five star hotel room. I also would not recommend the resort if you have mobility issues or don't really enjoy walking.
Platinum: Worth it. Especially considering it was only a couple hundred bucks more for us. The biggest advantage is you get a LARGE closed off area of the beach away from vendors. You get access to the lounge chairs/beds, your own platinum bar and washrooms located right in the area.
But along with other platinum perks we also liked our beach side bungalow location, premium alcohol, and the ability to make restaurant reservations.

Bavaro Princess All Suites
Considering the resort was hit last year by hurricane it was amazing to see that the gardens and grounds had been restored to such a high level. Most of the gardens were exquisite. Was disappointed to see that the big pool by the beach had been reduced in size since our last visit in order to build more bungalows. We were unable to use the beach very much to catch the sun due to high winds and getting sand blasted while using loungers and palapas. The pool by the lobby could certainly use a [... read more]good coat of paint. I watch the pool guys meticulously clean the pool every morning but even with all his efforts the pool seemed to be dirty due to paint chips missing. The food quality has greatly declined since our last visit. All the buffets had the same food over and over and all deserts tasted the same whether they were custards, white cake or chocolate cake. At breakfast the bacon was inedible. Not a very good selection on the salad bar of ingredients or dressings to create own salad. The steak house served very tough fillet mignon and T-bone steak that could hardly be cut or chewed. The Japanese restaurant served the best food we ate at this resort for our 2 week stay.
We were also locked out of our room 2 nights in a row. The first night required 2 trips to the front desk and a 75 minute wait with the door open for the security guards(they were very nice and appoligetic) about the inconvenience. The next day the same thing happened....we were locked out again and the security had to change the lock once more.....this time was only an hour wait....mindless to say while the door was open biting insects made their way into the room and proceed to enduce multiple bites on my legs and feet.
The morning of our departure the hotel did try to make amends by offering us a 2 day free stay which they realized that we could not accept due to our flight leaving in four hours. Complaints were made to the Sunwing rep at the resort but there was no compasion for our ordeal.
All in all we will definitely not return to this resort.......we have been there X2 and both times our holidays were less than we expected.

Bavaro Princess is the best!
The Bavaro Princess never disappoints, even during construction the guests are the main priority and the service is beyond exceptional.
This is our 5 time at this resort and we highly recommend upgrading to Platinum, it is well worth the extra you spend.

Bavaro Princess was just ok.....
My wife and I just recently returned from Bavaro Princess (11-12 until 11-19) and we were underwhelmed with the trip.
We were Platinum guests in room 743. The room was no different than the others except for the fact that we got our rum and vodka replaced and wasn't even replaced after the first night. The bed was very uncomfortable, we were out of hot water (the whole resort) for 1 night, friends that we made through the week had the exact same room, when we checked in there was no welco[... read more]me drink or cool towel as advertised.
The room location was perfect and I recommend being down by the pool area as most of the day you are down there anyway. The downfall there is that the trolley's stop running at midnight so when we went to the lobby bar our time was limited as there was still flooding in the pathways back to the rooms causing us to have to take the transportation.
The beach was the best part of this resort, soft sand, no seaweed and very clean. The only downfall are the locals trying to sell you their goods, to get a pic taken with a monkey or iguana or to get cheaper excursions.
The excursions themselves are hit and miss as always it depends on the group of people and your host. We opted for the Saona Island tour which where we were guaranteed to see a star fish and we didn't see one. The start fish encounter was one of the reasons we did this particular one so I feel as if we were oversold and the promise was not kept up. The food on the excursion was terrible and we were rushed at certain aspects of it such as snorkling. We were told to don't be too long as it's not fair to those on the boat that are opting our of snortkling. This didn't make sense to me.
The food at the resort was not that great. The fries were always cold, the meat was very fatty and therefore I spent more time cutting than eating. The Oriental restaurant was less than appetizing and I ended up just going to McPrincess afterwards. We ordered room service one morning and we were told that it was only a continental breakfast and when it arrived it was just two fruit plates with juice. Later that week we were informed that we had a choice of a complete breakfast meal and when we retried it it still ended up being disappointing as it was 30 minutes late.
The people that we met from around the world were great, the resort itself has potential but is just too large for me. There were about 4 staff members that I plan on sending emails to the resort about as they were amazing.
The last thing is the time share people. This resort needs to part ways with them as they are WAY too aggressive. I ended up getting very rude with them as the week went on. They try to get you with a special gift from the bottom of their heart but then want you to spend an hour listening to a pitch and they don't care if you buy or not as they get $40 US for each person that attends and you are helping their family out. In the end it's my vacation and if I want to attend a meeting I would sign up, other than that leave me alone.
I wouldn't go back to this resort and would try going to Dreams near La Romania if I decided to ever go back to Dominican.

The Good, The bad & The Ugly
April 22-29, 2017 Platinum Suite #813, 1st time in the Dominican Republic for my wife & I. 1st off the staff are amazing, Awie in the platinum lounge. She is an absolute rockstar! She goes above and beyond for her guests, My wife had an allergic reaction to something and the next day after the Dr visit she had called our room to see how she was feeling, and went out of her way to make my wife as comfortable as possible while we were there. Jorgie and the sweet older lady who works the bar in th[... read more]e platinum lounge at night (I so wish I got her name), also so amazing just making our stay that much more enjoyable. Ramone down at the platinum beach bar, always keeping the drinks flowing on the beach by the platinum bar. Jennifer our maid, every day new flowers and towel designs on our bed...And Jerry at the hotel reception, I needed a $20 USD deposit to make a collect call from the lobby, I had zero cash on me and instead of me taking a 15 minute tram ride to the far side of the resort back to my room this kid let me use his personal cell phone so I could contact my bank to move money around to be able to pay for my wifes medical bills while up at the main lobby, and help me save time contacting the people I needed to as quick as possible while my wife was with the Dr.
The Hotel is absolutely beautiful, pictures dont do this place justice. We stayed in Platinum suite 813, upper floor right beside the platinum lounge. Very well kept, and always clean. Being this close the the Platinum lounge you can pick up the wifi signal anywhere in the room. Not strong enough to stream netflix or spotify but my wife was able to use snapchat and even facebook video call our kids and granddaughter back home in Canada without issue one night. King size bed, mini bar had 2 coke, 2 sprite 2 Budweiser and a 2 liter bottle of water in the fridge every day with another 2L bottle of water on the counter.
Platinum lounge is the only bar on the resort to carry Coors Light. Food selection is very minimal in the platinum lounge. Pretty much the same stuff almost all week, apples, danishes, croissants, muffins, cookies yogurt. out of the 7 days they did have fruit bowls once.
Being in the platinum area was way more cooler than up near the main lobby pool, always had a breeze even on our balcony which helped with the heat. Zero breeze up in the main lobby and buy the lobby pool there because of all the buildings and distance from the ocean.
Main buffet, lots of a selection but after 7 days its literally all the same. One night I think was a Dominican themed night, I couldn't eat anything it just didnt look appealing to me.
Chopin - buffet - exact same food as all the other buffets just has a piano on a boat while you eat. We ate there for the Sunwing dinner - same food as the other buffets
El Goucho Buffet (Breakfast and lunch) - easy for platinum guests to go for breakfast instead of taking the tram to the main lobby - miniature version of the main buffet, every day the exact same thing is served - Breakfast nothing changes. (scrambled/boiled eggs, omelette station, pancakes, waffles bacon, breakfast sausage or chopped up hot dogs? (no idea why), Fruit, muffins, croissants... Lunch - I only ate here once in the whole week. was Mexican themed and not to bad.
McPrincess - Burgers, cheese steak sandwiches(more like steak fajita sandwich) Still good, hotdogs and fries...Quick and easy when you are on the beach
El Goucho - becomes a steak house a la cart for dinner - Wife and I both enjoyed it
Tanuki - A la cart - Japanese cuisine - by far this was the best a la cart we ate (rice, vegetables, chicken, beef, and seafood cooked right in front of you.
All Buffet's had the same items pretty much made the food less desirable by the end of the week seeing the same stuff every day.
Main lobby bar area - There is a group of people at a desk close to the currency conversion counter and walking all around the lobby, They will offer you a free Dominican package (Tshirts/rum...) all they want you to do is sit through an hour long presentation for a time share. This group made my time in the lobby a living hell. No matter how many times I explained that I spend 65% of my work week in board rooms and meetings, I had no desire to sit though 15 minutes let alone an hour. I am on vacation and just wanted to relax. Every time we went up to the main lobby or lobby bar, no less than 3 separate guys would pester me into going to this presentation. The last day while we were waiting for our bus to go home, I had 5 of them come up to me within an hour. I told em I was leaving and they left em alone just as quick as when they walked up. Being accosted constantly while trying to relax on vacation doesn't make it enjoyable in any location. Even the beach vendors did not harass my wife of myself over the course of the week as bad as these guys did. Even the Dominican market in the lobby the one night was just as bad...why did I pay almost $3800 for a vacation just to be constantly bombarded with "come buy my crap"?!
Photographers - the hotel has photographers to help you capture the moment with professional pictures all over the resort. One day on the beach one of them walked up behind my wife with a 5' boa constrictor snake, I asked the guy to stop where he was about 10 feet away from my wife, she turned to see the snake and took off a good 20 feet in the opposite direction. I spoke to the concierge the next day and suggested that they dont walk around with reptiles as some people are terrified with them.
To sum it all up, Staff was amazing, Hotel was great, beach was beautiful, food was ok, but needs way more variety!! ...trying to walk through the lobby at any time, forget it! If you stay here, Go platinum, stay down at the beach area and make use of the other 3 resorts included for meals, I would have but my wife got sick 3 days into our vacation.
Hotel seriously needs to put a leash on the lobby canvasing!!

Great
The rooms and the beach are highlights but nothing to compare to the natural area with all of the birdlife and reptiles. Great place to walk in peaceful natural areas. Also the layout of the resort is fantastic with the separate 8 plexes with lots of space in between. Nice to see a resort that is not covered in buildings

Great time away! I'm
Resort grounds are beautiful and well kept. Rooms were clean, spacious and fridge was stocked everyday. One of the buffets was not as good as the other. The main buffet in the lobby had better selection in my opinion.
Overall our week here was great but I'm not sure for the money I would come back

No frills resort!
First, I will qualify by saying this was my 16th all-inclusive in the last 13 years in either DR, Mexico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, or Bahamas. We usually alternate our travel from all-inclusive to exploring-type (Europe, Asia, Hawaii, etc.), so when we decide to go on a week long AI we generally know what to expect - we don't go there expecting gourmet cuisine or to be waited on hand and foot. This is actually to first time that I've ever given a negative review because I don't go with crazy expectat[... read more]ions whenever I travel - I always make the best of it. I will give my very fair thoughts on positives and negatives of this resort.
Positives: It is a short drive from the airport. The grounds around the bungalows are lovely and well taken care of. The beach is beautiful. The suites are very nice - not fancy, but large functional and were promptly cleaned every morning; something I've learned is often rare as in the past we return to our room at 4pm to an uncleaned room. A few staff really stood out as desiring to give great service and to (at least pretend) to like their job.
Negatives: Extremely poor service save for the few people who tried hard (Jhonny at the front desk, the whistling gentleman at the beach buffet, the bell boys, and the omelet chef were excellent). If you sit in a buffet there is a 20% chance that someone will serve you and if they do there is only a 40% that they will get what you requested or that they will come back a second time. There is no wait service at the pool or beach and some spotty service in the lobby.
Generally, there was a different clientele here. The resort was full of about 100 partying 20 year olds (which is fine, I guess, if was spring break) though there were small children and families in the pool (there is only one main) the animation team were playing really loud music with explicit lyrics at 3pm. Then I witnessed a couple of them barfing in the middle of the beach restaurant's courtyard while people were eating breakfast.
The food was mediocre at best. If you wanted a snack at 4pm, your only option was a sandwich and fries. A member of our family was a vegetarian (a very low maintenance one) and had a very difficult time finding things to eat other than salads.
As I said above, I do not expect to be waited

Breathtaking
This resort was very well kept. The food was delicious and the beach was breathtaking. We upgraded to a suite and was well worth it. It didn't look like upgrading to platimun would have been worth it though. I can't believe how clean and well kept this resort is. We had an amazing time at this resort.

Nice place!
The grounds and the resort itself were beautiful, however, a few things to look out for:
-there are many stairs and ramps so one must be watchful when in the lobby or in the main buffet.
- in general, floors indoors and out were slippery when wet so it didn't make walking easy.
- resort was quite big, but we found that we could walk back and forth to the beach area with 10 mins to 15 mins
- having a trolley coming by every 7 to 10 mins was convenient.
- entertainment in the evening wa[... read more]s a bit loud and made socializing in the lobby a bit difficult
Other than that, food at buffets was good, a la carte selections were good, the staff was very friendly, entertainment was good and the spa/gym were great.

Bavaro Princess All Suites, Punta Cana
The Resort was far more than I had expected! It's huge but doesn't seem that way at all. There is a shuttle train available to take you everywhere. Amazing restaurants and bars. They can't make a margarita to save their lives though! Mojitos totally made up for it!
All rooms are suites, as the name implies. They are grouped in bungalows of 8 and you rarely see your neighbours or hear them for that matter. Services were great and any reasonable request was taken care of promptly.
The Eco park [... read more]is wonderful and a great place to sit quietly and enjoy the shade surrounded by the beautiful birds.
The only shortcoming I found was the live entertainment in the evenings. The band was great but the shows were bad lip sync failures. It would have been nice to experience Dominican culture and song in the shows not Lion King and Grease.
The staff are friendly and helpful and even those with broken English do their utmost to help any way they can.
I will definitely return again....hopefully not as a single traveller next time. On that note, being a single lady, never once did I feel in the least nervous walking around the grounds on the paths at night. Security is visible but not in your face.
All in all an excellent choice for my 10 days away from winter and snow.

AMAZING Resort
Everything about the Bavaro Princess was AMAZING, the rooms were above comfortable and kept spotless, for a huge resort it was very well kept and easy to get around with the shuttle running all the time, the pools and the staff at the pools were friendly, from the restaurants to the buffet the food was fantastic, the beach has to be one of the best we have ever been on
