Home away from home

My husband and i visited Bahia Principe Tulum for the 5th time in 5 years. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms are a bit dated, but we're not there toc spend our vacation in our room. That being said, the rooms are clean and comfortable. We are always happy to see our old friends (staff) and make new ones. We've always enjoyed the buffets, so much in fact we often miss out on our ala cartes. We find Bahia Tulum simply amazing and customer service is what keeps us going back [... read more]. Older resort with great service and amazing food,

We’ve stayed at 2 of the other properties onsite and this seems to be the older of the 3 with smaller rooms. But the food and service were very good. Francesco in the dining room at breakfast every day was excellent. I was travelling with a broken leg, which wasn’t easy as the pathways are very rough, cobblestone and my knee scooter wasn’t designed for 4wheel drive. I advised the resort in advance that I had a broken leg and wheelchair and was given a ground level room close to the lob [... read more]by, however it wasn’t “accessible”. The bathroom was so small that the door hit the toilet when opened, the tub was difficult to get into especially with a half glass door. I’m lucky my injury is temporary. I don’t think someone in a wheelchair could have managed. The knee scooter is half the size and I barely fit into the bathroom. Everything else is similar to other resorts: people saving chairs with the towels even though signs says not to, weak drinks, and lots of seaweed on the beach. Also, the timeshare people lied to our faces, saying they weren’t selling timeshares. Be careful. But the food in the buffet and a la carte restaurants is excellent, the staff are very friendly and provide great service. We would go back but not with a broken leg.

Beautiful resort

The grounds and public area were absoulty amazing very well kept and clean. The pool area is beautiful but very hard to find a chair as most people head there around 7am and put towels on them before heading to breakfast. The food was amazing.

Good resort!

It’s great that you have access to two resorts for a variety of pools and restaurants. Buffet menu is almost the same daily even though it features different themes but selections are plentiful so don’t need to eat the same everyday. Unfortunately the beach is awful and full of sea weeds that workers rake endlessly but can’t keep up with so much weed. No room to walk the beach. Resort itself is beautiful.

Amazing resort

Hotel was amazing, grounds were well kept and clean rooms Evening entertainment was always fabulous. Pools were great, beach not so much. Ocean was full of seaweed. Food was 5 star with so much variety every day.

Amazing Resort

We loved the resort. The food was fabulous, the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. We had great waiters at the buffet. There is shopping right on the resort and the prices are very good.We will definitely return to this resort.

Nice Resort, Great Staff

The room was comfortable and large. The resort is quite large but I didn't find it overly hard to get around. I did not use the pool, don't like loud music. Never had a problem finding a beach chair which is important to me. The beach has some rocky areas, but you can navigate around them. A La Carte restaurants were good. Buffet always had something good to eat. Staff at the buffet restaurant are very friendly. A little far from the airport.

GBP is the Best Resort with Best Value!

Grand Bahia Principe(GBP) Tulum was one of the best resorts we have stayed with. Trip Central's agent, Teresa Gates is the best we have ever encountered. From the day we booked our trip in mid-January, she was so professional and advised us on everything we needed to be aware of to ensure we had a wonderful experience! We were travelling with our best friends and neighbors from PEI, Canada and we felt quickly reassured that we were deciding on the right choice with Trip Central. My husband and I called her a month ago to book Trip Cancellation/Medical Insurance package as we have aging parents. Unfortunately, our friends did not have this and our dear friend's mother had passed away while we were in Mexico mid-week into our trip. Amazingly, we did enjoy our trip together as her family provided support until we we able to get back home. It was a bitter sweet experience for them but also provided a much needed rest for her as she had been caring for her ailing Mom a year prior. Please know, we are so grateful for all we experienced as this resort is beautiful and the food is the best as we have travelled to the Dominican and Jamaica before! The staff are so personable and the GBP resort is extremely clean, the staff are always accommodating and consistently working to make you feel like you are #1! We have so many staff we need to appreciate with their hospitality, like Liz, the pool/beach bar attendant, and William and Oscar as well. Raymond was an amazing mini-fridge attendant too. They have an extraordinary team and they deserve to be proud of their establishment! Thank you for this opportunity to allow ourselves to respond to sending feedback with such a wonderful resort! In closing, we live on Prince Edward Island, Canada, which depends on the tourism industry being strong every year. Beautiful resort

The grounds are beautiful on this large resort consisting of 3 separate resorts. We stayed at the Tulum, which is aging. The room was comfortable, however the bathroom was in need of updating. The water pressure was low and a shower was more like a sprinkle. The resort also seems to be understaffed, dining room staff were run off their feet, however were always friendly. We were entitled to visit 3 a la carte restaurants during our stay, however booking ones that we wanted as a struggle unless w [... read more]e wanted a booking for 10 pm! We did get a few bookings and were surprised to find the restaurants were only half full at a reasonable time, again we wondered if this was due to lack of staff. The food was always good, lots of choice in the buffet restaurant.

Beautiful Bahía principe

This resort is very grand, the lobby and grounds are spectacular. We found that the service was professionally carried out by pleasant employees. The swimming pools are kept immaculate with no shortage of lounge chairs palapas and towels for comfort. We were delighted to be so close to the beach when we didn’t want to be by the pools. The very well trained staff aimed to please and were always pleasant. The a la Carte restaurants provided an elegant change from the buffet restaurants; must book these in advance, well worth the short time it takes. I was a little disappointed with some of the evening entertainment and very disappointed that we had to pay for the great Mexican event in an all inclusive package. I was glad that I didn’t have to walk everywhere as the resort provides internal transport which is available readily. In our room we could hear some noise from the pool, but not enough to disturb us and never at night. I noticed that programs were provided for children and thought it would be a lovely safe resort to take my grandchildren to. Perhaps we will bring them with us next time.

The right vacation place in the wrong resort

We decided to try the Bahia Principe Tulum after searching the internet for possible vacation spots. Admittedly, our travel was less than pleasant to begin with. Our flight was 3 1/2 hours late in departing, no fault of the resort. However when we finally arrived, the room we had been assigned did not have functioning air conditioning. No offer of an alternate room was made while they tried to repair the problem. When we finally did get functioning air conditioning working, we realized the rea [... read more]son for our poor sleep was not the room temperature but the slab of concrete that was called a mattress. I have had back surgery and a need a much firmer mattress than my honey however what we slept on could have been substituted by the floor tiles without a noticeable difference. Getting home made a big improvement. The main restaurant/ buffet was good, not exceptional. Next, the resort seems to use grey-water (that's water that was formerly in your sink, bathtub and toilet) for irrigating the grass and trees. It doesn't smell very good. In fact, it smelled like we were walking through a septic tank on the way to and from the main buffet restaurant. Believe me, it made both me and my wife to nearly vomit up what we had just eaten at the nearby buffet. I can only assume the signs placed in various locations to keep off the grass were not there to prevent wearing paths in the lawn, more likely it would be a health hazard to have skin contact with the grass. Don't expect to be able to do much of anything interesting in regards to snorkeling on the beach. There is a breakwater set up along the southern edge of the beach which provides some reduced wave action however the water is chest deep at best. No lagoons or bays available. There was paddle boats, para-gliders, hobie cats and wave runners available for some above water action. Of the a la carte restaurants I managed to try 5 of them. I recommend the Tequila (Mexican) and the Brazilian Rodezio as top choices. When getting your drinks at the various bars you may have to specify which liqueur needs to go in the drink otherwise the default seemed to be tequila. It doesn't work in a pina colada. Remember the phrase 'sin tequila' (pronounced seen tequila) meaning without tequila. Additionally, we were approached multiple times throughout our stay to attend the 'time-share' presentation or buy some cheap bracelets or get a massage. It seemed this practice of wandering sales people had the full sanction of the management of the resort. I came south to escape the snow and ice, not to deal with repeated sales offers. As a result of my experiences at this location, I cannot recommend it for future visits. I will be advising my friends and family to other resorts which I have visited.

Great resort

This place was very nice. The food was great, grounds well kept, rooms very nice but showing age. I would definitely return. The beach is not the greatest but usable. The only thing I found strange was that there was no server on beach or at pool for the bar, first time I seen this at a resort

Love this resort!

This was my 6th visit to Bahia Principe Tulum, and it did not disappoint. The resort is clean, impeccably lush and very well kept. There is as little or as much to do as you would like. There seemed to be more rocks on the beach and in the water this year than I remember in the past, but we managed to find a favourite place on the beach for our daily swim. They have lots of chairs and palapas on the beach and pool bars in close proximity. The food and beverage is top notch although we order [... read more]ed the same drink at 3 different bars and got 3 different drinks. The customer service is very good and if you leave a tip here and there the service is excellent.

Wonderful resort

This was our third stay at this resort. It offers all sorts of day trips off the resort if you wish to do so. Has assortment of activities on the resort offered also. The cafeteria always had assortment of foods to choose from, something to the likings to everyone. Room was always clean and equipped with clean towels/ facecloths. No complaints

Expansive resort...Lots of choices

Very impressive and well kept resort. Covers a lot of area but with the onsite transportation system you can get where you need to go fairly quickly. We had asked to be on the south part of the Tulum section, but for some reason we got put in the North area. We wanted the south because of the quieter pool area, but instead we were close to the loud pool by the Tequila Restaurant. The room was fine but the pool was very LOUD during the day. Luckily it is just on the shore edge and the sand/palapa area are beautiful for relaxing on the beach. No complaints about food, as there were so many choices that there was always a great selection of foods. The housekeeping was great and we always came back to our room finding it neat, clean and ready for another comfortable sleep. This was our 3rd stay at Grand Bahia Principe and will definitely return.

Another beautiful Grand Baha'i resort!

The grand Bahai Tull was great. We were very close to the beach. The beach area at our end of the resort was nice, only two palapa so deep. The swimming is a little precarious as there's a coral reef which the coral washes up from and some large rocks in the shallow areas but if you snorkel then the reef is amazing. Little fish, big fish, sting rays and little sharks!! Bring beach shoes and your floating device and you've got it made. The staff cleaned the beach daily. Disappointing

Well the resort is big..thats the only good thing about it..food at buffet is too repetitive..we got the same food all 7 days of stay..no change in menu at all..service was also very poor..the front desk people were not at all welcoming and accommodating..beaches were full of sea weeds..disappointing experience overall..

Great resort!

Great resort! Clean rooms and common areas. Amazing food, great service, friendly staff. Able to go to other resorts in the Bahia Principe complex for a la carte dinners. Trolleys available to take you to other resorts, or shopping at the Hacienda if you choose not to walk. Beach was a little seaweedy but thats just nature, nothing the resort can to do prevent it! Was OK...

Just a mediocre hotel. Not kept up very well. Moldy pools with garbage and slime floating around. Rooms were ok but again moldy throughout. Food was not too bad but same every day. (was just moved around to look like it's different food options). Beach is not usable due to large rocks and a ton of seaweed... We won't be returning unfortunately.
