Good resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Playa Costa Verde. Everyone was very friendly..the pool was alway kept blue not green in color..Very clean resort.The a'la cart restaurants were really good.Our fav was the Japannese restaurant..Cuban and Italian were also good. We didn't eat much at the buffet but when we did it was okay,never went Hungary,a buffet is a buffet LOL..We ate a lot at the bar/ restaurant by the pool. If they were low on food they always made us a good lunch with the best Piña Coladas..Th [... read more]e staff were just awesome..The beach is beautiful,lots of chairs.. The staff at the front desk are not friendly at all..Didn't matter who you talked to it seemed like they didn't want to be there.. Rooms could use a bit of an upgrade but they were very clean,the housekeeping ladies( ours) were great.. Not much to do at night and entertainment was not the best.. All in all its a 4* resort with a mix of 3 1/2. We would recommend it and go back if the price was right..

Friendly resort

The rooms are a bit dated. However, they are very clean. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the water pressure in the shower was strong. We had a ground floor room, but had very few bugs. The cleaning staff kept our room very clean with fresh towels every day and plenty of bottled water. The food was very good and there was always a large selection at the buffet. We enjoyed two a la carte dinners. The Italian restaurant was delicious. The Japanese restaurant was not only delicious but v [... read more]ery entertaining also. I would highly recommend both of these restaurants. I would recommend Playa Costa Verde to friends. Cuba has the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Beautiful beach, but a few things declining at the resort

This is our 2nd year in a row at the resort. The staff are great (we really liked Marcel-trainee, who worked the lounge in the evening). However, there seemed to be some food shortages.....no pasta, hit and miss with French fries at the 24 hour, 2nd toaster at the buffet broken for a number of days creating long line to for toast at breakfast, no soya sauce or garlic for a few days (the rice stir fry for lunch is great......as long as there is garlic and soya sauce). It seemed like there was [... read more] limited fresh fruit also. I would suggest they focus on improving the buffet.. (the Japanese a la cart is WONDERFUL).

Amazing vacation,

I have absolutely nothing but goodness to say about this resort and the people who run it...from the moment I arrived until the day I left, I have never felt so appreciated and respected anywhere I have ever been. These people are so genuinely happy and excited to see us have the best time.

Costa Verde Resort, Holguin

Food like most Cuban resorts was mediocre. The best food was the food that was cooked in front of you while you waited. The accommodation, entertainment, and al la carte restaurants were all very good. Lunchtime at the pool side restaurant.was not all that great. Much of the food was burnt to a sizzle. At lunchtime I would have preferred to help myself rather than order from a menu. The beach was fine except I left my water shoes behind and kept on stepping on sharp bits of coral. On the Fence....

Although a nice looking resort, with a beautiful beach and pool area, it did leave a bit to be desired. Upon check-in, our group of 11 found the front desk staff to be most unhelpful. Two people per room and only one card handed out. When everyone asked for a second card, they were rudely told no. When one friend said they needed the second one, they were told to maybe come back tomorrow, and that they could pay for one. While most of the serving staff, and room staff were good, there were many whole were not very personable. Kids club staff were wonderful, pool and beach bar staff great. I know all of Cuba is struggling with food and drink, but I feel the food was below average, even for Cuba, and it was hard to find fruits and vegetables that all could/would eat. Thank god we brought peanut butter, jam and nutella. Japanese restaurant the best meal we had, Italian was awful, no one could fill up there, and service not very good.

The resort was ok

The resort was Ok, not too happy with the food, beautiful beach, great water activities. The resort seems to treat return tourist much better over first timers, which make you think of not returning. I was surprised the mosquitos were not as bad as previous reviews stated. The resort is not well lit up at night. Their should be more options to eat like a beach snack bar.

Home away from home

We have stayed at this resort 12 times, needless to say we love it! Reasonably priced and the grounds and beach are beautiful. More importantly is the staff and how well they treat us. We go for the sun, fun and beautiful beach, rooms are average and dated.

Amazing Resort

Had the best time at this resort. Food was good and the staff were also friendly. Beach was amazing too. Can't wait to go back and visit my Cuban friends. The weather wasn't the best but we can only blame Mother Nature for that. Highly recommend taking some local tours and see the Cuban culture.

Consistantly Good!

Consistantly doing its best no matter what Cuba throws at it!. Always maintaining , improving this resort sets the standard . Friendly efficient service always. I am a many time returnee because of this!

Sunny days, clean air and beautiful landscape.

Everything looks good and clean and the staff do their best to keep everyone happy. Thanks to Eliades, Tamara, Vivian, Jose Suarez, Juliet and her staff in the lobby bar, Mildred and Yaneisy, Thanks for such a nice vacation! We will be back .

This was our 8th time at Playa Costa Verde

Everything was great, as always. The variety of food was not as fulsomely as usual, but after talking to locals we know now why. The problem is Donald Trump and his embargoes. They try what they can and now local people have almost nothing to eat anymore, because the Resorts are more important. This is very sad.

Old and Tired...

For the most part, the rooms are nice and clean...we did not have a problem with the room, once we changed as our air conditioning was not working. The Beach is a long walk and buffet is in an open air facility, which allows birds, bugs and flies in... The pool needs a complete revamp and cleaned a lot more than it is...swollen eyes due to green water is not pleasant for a few days. Probably, the biggest problem is allowing Locals to use the facility...funny, the staff don't even enjoy it [... read more]...we have paid a good dollar for the vacation and the Locals come in and take over...they like to be waited on and do not clean up after themselves...Take your vacation away from Easter and early in April.

Disappointed

We were sadly disappointed with this hotel. We arrived on Sunday April 21 at 1. We could not get our rooms until after 3 yet it was very apparent the hotel was no where near full with many empty rooms. When we finally did get our room there was no toilet seat and the phone did not work. We asked three times over two days to have these things fixed and finally gave up. In addition to this while the bar service was great the alcohol quality was sadly lacking. Lastly, Thankfully the pool was great  [... read more]because going to the beach was quite a walk across a bridge over what we nicknamed the cess pool. Not appealing in the least.

Always the Best in Cuban Hospitality

Clean efficient and most of all FRIENDLY!!! Yes I am a manytime returnee to this resort and very biased...as I do travel elsewhere yet thisvis my true rest vacation spot. They excel at makingvyou confortable and at hime. Need something..ask! If its in Cuba they will get it for you or do if they can.

Friendly Resort!

We have been at this resort before a few times and we love it! Friendly staff, beautiful beach, good food(love the ice cream bar)! Highly recommend to single People and families. Shopping close to resort is handy if you are looking for local souvenirs.

Great resort

Great place to get away just came back from an 8 day vacation stayed from April 7th to the 15th had a great time food was great beds where comfy everything was kept cleaned. The only thing i didnt like was the beach it was to rocky for me but that really didnt bother me the pool was great i would differently go back.

Nice Resort

The beach was beautiful and very relaxing. The grounds were well kept and everything was very clean including the rooms, restaurants, public washrooms and the lobby. The food choices were always the same not much variety! Liked the fried rice station but never any protein choice.

A Village in a Park

A great holiday for your money .2 story buildings in a park like setting. large pool and a place for small children with a shallow pool . icecream hutt and a beer corner for evening get together with friends. Lobby has lots of seating areas with new furniture. Evening entertainment is fun. Nice people

The rooms are clean. The beds are comfy. Right now the buffet is lacking because of the political problems. The same food every day for a week. They could use more staff. There's a gap. The staff has decade's of experience or none. Depending on who you get.the beach is nice. Decent snorkeling. Pool is good. Staff at the pool are also good. Alot of planned events don't happen.
