Fair resort

We arrived to the older and dated rooms but upgraded to the newer section which were much quieter and worth the few extra dollars.Food left alot to be desired in the main dining areas but this is Cuba. Grounds were pleasant.

Great resort, great staff.

Great resort and fantastic staff.Lots of activities on the beach with the sailing kayaking...etc. Be careful as you enter the water on the beach lots of rocky spots that one can get bruised,scraped or cut easily. I suggest you wear a beach insert on the feet. Food is good drinks are even better. Make sure you make reservations for the a la carte restaurants. We were told we don't need them but after a few days in we were told that we had to have one .

Fiesta Americana

We spend our holiday there from January 18 to the 27th. We went with four friends. We had a blast, beautiful water, clean rooms. Food as expected service staff was run off their feet, short staffed all the time and at every aspect. Housekeeping staff was gracious and lovely as always. What we were not expecting is to be flat out ignored by the entertainment staff. Now I must also include that there only seemed to be three of them, which is ridiculous for a resort with kids. They only socializ [... read more]ed with the Miami Cubans that were there visiting. Very disappointing. Nothing better or worse than any other Cuban resort, but wouldn't go back. There are many other resorts that would be happy to include everyone in activities.

Not Amazing

I have been to this resort many times, however; I think I just had my last visit. The staff was still wonderful and inviting, there were too many negative things. The grounds not maintained, tiles missing from bottom of pool, black grout on tiles in pool and smell from septic not pleasant. My room was not as clean as in the past, especially the washroom, light bulbs needed replacing (apparently a shortage). The food; last year there was no milk, bread/flour, limited fruit, vegetables, meats a [... read more]nd juices. This year we did have milk and bread, more of a selection of meats, limited to no fresh fruits and vegetables. I found all the meals were basically the same in all the restuarants, presentation was not what it was in the past. Very disappointed, I'm glad I didn't book 10 days.

A go-to resort!

Great resort! The beach is beautiful! We were here from January 19th to January 26th, 2020. The service was really great, the staff was really friendly and super responsive. Even if the building is not recent, it was super clean at all times. The resort is beautiful and huge. We're definitely going to come back!

Stayed Jan 22/20 to Jan 29/20

Firstly...it's Cuba; as with my wife when we first met the three little words that won her over were - "lower your expectations". Saying that we had a great time at a very nice resort. We did change the room we were assigned when we arrived not only because the safe was broken but because it was on the ground floor by the games center. A note on the broken safe; when we reported it a tech was there within 15 minutes and fixed it (the front and rear piece of the door were broken off). The second  [... read more]room assigned on the second floor above reception had a couple issues as well. TV not working and the sliding door frame to the balcony was completely broken at the bottom on the back side. We reported this and it was repaired to our satisfaction with the very helpful assistance from Jorge (a guy who will get things done). All issues were taken care of the first day with the help from Elzbieta at the front desk and no other issues for the remainder of the week. Rooms were cleaned everyday with bottled water, beer and pop (soda) topped up every day as well. Toilets have super flush and scalding hot water whenever you needed it. Because of our location and not having the sun beat through any part of the room we didn't use the AC much but it worked great when needed. The whole complex was always being cleaned and the staff was always pleasant. Jerry and Miguel at the swim up by the beach were great and never missed a chance to give you a refill. There were two swim up bars with the other one located by the main lobby pool 24 hour grill. There are other bars located between the pools and at the beach as well as seafood restaurant very close to the beach and pool. There was also a BBQ by the beach bar every day (chicken). Weather was the best; between 27 and 30 everyday with no rain at all. A market was a 10 minute walk down the beach and horse back riding is also available almost on the resort with about an hour ride right onto the beach. Food was a little repetitive but you could also find something and no sign ups for the ala carts, just show up. There are 4 ala carts; Italian, Cuban, Mexican and Asian and all were good and we used them more than the buffet. Oh yeah...the pools are huge and never had a problem getting a lounger whenever we wanted. You get the usual self centered people saving the loungers but it wasn't needed. No problems getting loungers on the beach either and a fellow was there to sweep them off and take them to anywhere you wanted them. Again, no need to worry about not getting one. Snorkeling was great as well, lots of fish to see, neons, bluefin, angel and schools of other fish. Beach was flat right into the water without the usual step down where the waves break, the ocean was calm all week. You can do as much or as little as you wanted with sailboats and pedal boats. We have been to Cuba 10 times now and never stayed at the same resort twice and would have no issues returning to this one. We had a great time and as with any travel to Cuba, bring the essentials, ketchup, mustard, relish, peanut butter and honey. Some people were a little envious at breakfast when you take these items out of your bag and get requests to share ;-) . Lots more to say about this resort and all good but your probably already bored with this novel. Final word...don't be afraid to book this resort you will have a good time while feeling safe. Nice resort

The resort was very clean and all the staff was very kind and helpful. It was my first experience at a resort. I did enjoy it very much, the only drawback for me was that the weather was not all that great.

Gréât resort

Grounds were well kept and clean, public bathroom weren’t always the cleanest, rooms were very satisfactory . Food was good, not much variety but never went hungry. Most staff were good but not overly friendly perhaps a language barrier

Amazing beach

Our vacation was Jan 6-17. Check in at the Fiesta Americana -Holguin, was quick n easy. The first week was great, food was good and plentiful, very good choices, I presume because there was a lot of people at the ressort.We were given a survey after a few days to fill out,of course we gave a great review , Second week the food choice was not like the first! Great family friendly resort

This is our 2nd time there, the grounds are nice, staff is great. The restaurants were good and clean. Would definitely recommend. The beach is one if the nicest beaches I've been to in Cuba, Pasquera beach, sand is amazing, snorkeling right off the beach. Do need water shoes in some areas because of the coral. Great water activities, paddle boat, catamarans, kayaking.

On week in paradise

Pretty nice week at this hotel. Very good points : 1) Cubans 2) Service at the restaurant and the buffet, 3) At the buffet and the restaurants they serve red wine in bottle, 4) Illimited acces to all the restaurants. Bad points : 1) The water in the shower passes from cold to hot without warning, 2) Even if there was no wind, we could not use the kayaks ans the pedalos at the beach, 3)Severals activities but we don't know where to go to participate 4) Some roc into the sea

Just Ok!

Grounds: Everything was kept clean and well organized Rooms: Ok. Room was kept cleaned and fridge filled every day. I am not sure if there were bed bugs, but we all had bed bugs bites all over our bodies. Beach: Beautiful beach area with free paddle boats and kayaks. A bit a line up to get one, but we were able to get one every day. Downside: If you went to the beach out early in the morning (6:30 am) or stayed there after 4 pm, you will be bitten by sand fleas. I have been in better resorts of the same category. Not too many selection. Fish was good. Often they run out of fruits.

Good resort

It was fair , food wise , could use better entertainment, more cooks . Line ups was too long , 30 min to get good or more . Otherwise people were friendly food was reasonable . I enjoyed the weather for sure and beach .

Dissapointing

Hotel rooms falling apart. People very nice and courteous. Rooms kept fairly clean but sliding doors locks not working properly. Food out of 10 rate a 4. internet service terrible. No value for $$$$$$ spent.

Save your money!

This resort was the worst I had ever been to.It was definitely not a 4 star maybe a 21/2. No friut, vegetables or milk. Food was not edible ,I ran to the bathroom after every meal no joke! I'm not a picky eater either. Drinks were gross, water had mold in it from dispensers. Mold in shower and on lounge chairs at pool. Dead crabs in pool tiles missing. I was so disappointed. Now the beach was good, snorkeling was amazing. I would never ever go back.

Fiesta Americana Costa Verde, Holguin, Cuba, Hotel Review

All in all, it was a fantastic experience for our group of 6 people !! The staff was amazing, from the top down ---we even got to know, on a personal basis, the Director-General (Julian), the Operations-Director (Jorge), and the Restaurants and Bars Manager (Samuel) ------ Samuel even volunteered to personally make sandwiches/lunches for all of us for the plane trip back to Montreal ----- what a gentleman !! T [... read more]he fitness activities on land (such as, the Fitness Room, the Table Games Area, the Basketball Courts and the Tennis Court) need a little upgrading equipment-wise, but the water-activities were great !! The transportation vehicles were also great !! I, on behalf of my group, will HIGHLY RECOMMEND this vacation hotel to anyone !! (On the other hand, I would NOT recommend getting there with AIRTRANSAT, as we experienced a lot of problems getting to Cuba, but not on the way back home ---- such as, the 40 -- 50-something-years-old stewardess working on the Right-side, in the Economy-class, who was always surly, and refused to supply us with Immigration Forms for Cuba in English, as well as in other minor things !!!)

Beautiful pools

The resort has beautiful pools. The actual buildings are run down. They do not do maintain them. There were several leaks. All they would do is put a bucket down. The ceiling in the main dining room has leaks. They just moved the tables so they didn’t get wet and put a mat on the floor to catch the drippings.the leaks were from the rooms above not from rain. The leaks could of been toilet or shower water. The foods in the a la cart was much fresher then the buffet. Cuban food is not for me. We [... read more] went with a group of 15. The buffet would accommodate us but the a la carte would not. They either split the tables into two different tables,or sometimes into three separate tables. Typical Cuban resort

grounds beautiful, food-always found something good to eat, staff was great. We were there with a group of 15, older resort, rooms were clean but each room had an issue, out of the 8 rooms, no one had a patio door that locked, 2 of the safe's did not work. Overall it is what you should expect for the price, we had a great time!

Great time

Staff was great as was the beach and pools. Hotel could use a freshening up but much better then others that I have been to that were rated 4 star. If enjoy walking lots of trails off the resort and the snorkeling near the resort was very good with lots of fish. Would consider going back

Amazing

Grounds were beautiful beach was beautiful and white sand crystal clear water great snorkeling right off the beach, amazing water sports. Pools were kept clean. Amazing staff throughout the hotel beach and pool bar. Older section rooms a little dated but you only sleep in there. I can't wait to go back it was such a great trip and we took 7 18 year old boys that never had a problem finding something to do
