Ok resort

The pool is gorgeous... The food is gross gross gross The wine is piss especially the red wine. Please get proper wine. Waiters/waitresses r extremely polite. Love them Entertainment is wonderful!!! Starboy u r doing a great job!!! Bartenders r so nice. Sports bar needs sports bar food n not cold sandwiches in a fridge. Amazing Resort!

Had a fabulous time with my family. The resort was very clean, staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. I would definitely go again. Unfortunately due to Hurricane Irma the beach was not swimmable for the first 3 days and the sand had a lot of debris washed up but they brought in loaders and cleaned it all up like nothing happened so I still got to enjoy the beach side for 4 days.

Beautiful Resort

This is a clean resort and maintained well. The facilities and dining area are located conveniently and easily accessible. The alacarte restaurant services could be further improved by increasing its capacity to reduce wait times.

Ok

Food was ok. Sports bar food was horrible. A fridge with tuna sandwiches is not a vacation. Water in pool bar was disgusting. Not enough bars or washrooms. Pool areas not clean enough. The driver of the bus to return to airport was insane. Doing 110km on winding roads was unacceptable. 4 people threw up on the bus.

Rui beach club Negril Jamaica

The hotel property was very clean. Main pool with swim up bar got pretty gross daily . All the other pools were very clean . The bartenders and waiters all very friendly. The buffet was very good always lots of food lots of variety . Only one restraunt was alla Cart. And it was very good . Asia was buffet Italian and French just main coarse was served . Sports bar had cold sandwiches and pop corn 24 hours so if you wanted something late at night not much choice. Activity staff worked very [... read more] hard to keep guests entertained .

Awesome Vacation!

We just returned from a week at the Riu Negril. We went with a group of 12 and really enjoyed our holiday. Just a few points you will want to know about this resort. You cannot make reservations at the Al la carte restaurants. They do have two dinner seatings and three at the Asian restaurant but be prepared to line up for dinner. Or if you don't want to do that you can just go to the Buffet which was excellent every time we ate there. You must try the Jerk Chicken they serve on the beach  [... read more]for lunch. It is amazing! The lunch buffet at the Seagull was also very good. The Entertainment Staff were fabulous. Happy Feet, King Burger and the rest of the crew were so much fun. If you want to do an excursion I would recommend the Catamaran tour to Rick's Cafe and Margaritaville with Big Bird and his crew from Scuba Caribe. What a fun and amazing day and the sunset was just beautiful. Special thank you to Tricia at Scuba Caribe for being so friendly and helpful. All and all we had a wonderful trip and would not hesitate to go back.

Amazing

This was our first trip South. The Hotel was great I would have to rate it as a 10 note a 5 star. The staff grounds and food was outstanding. I will and have told everyone I know it was the best trip I have ever had. Thank you for making a dream come true for my husband and I. We will be going back

Awesome resort and staff

This property was awesome from the check in , meals , cleanliness , pools ,drinks and best of all was the smiling friendly staff !! The food selection and quality was terrific . The bartenders were never behind as they were very efficient . The grounds keepers worked diligently to keep the walkways and beach immaculate . Each and every staff member were a pleasure to do business with !!

All round awsome resort!

Great holiday, food was top notch, lots to choose from, Jamaican, Canadian desserts of all varieties, coffee was amazing. Service & staff friendly, servers always available. Rooms clean & comfortable bed with change up daily. Pool & grounds very clean, always cleaning around pool & grounds. Great all inclusive holiday, my second time back & will return with out any doubt.

My Second Home - Amazing Resort

We love the Riu Negril, and have been returning there for many many times throughout the last four years. We enjoy the hospitality of the friendly staff every time we are there. It is always clean, and there is always someone working with a smile to ensure the resort is clean. Love the food at the buffet either for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The entertainment staff is full of energy either on the beach during the day or at night.

Fabulous Hotel!!!

Been to Jamaica 3 times before but 1st at Negril. The resort is beautiful and exceptionally clean. Reviews we read about a terrible beach with seaweed are totally false. There is natural vegetation in the water which you can walk around and the water is crystal clear and very calm. If you want all sand just walk to the Riu Tropical. The staff here are great and they make sure you have a great time. The 2 problems we encountered were: 1.) No coffee makers in the room but we just managed t [... read more]o go to breakfast early. 2.) First come first serve at the specialty restaurants which make people mad every day when they get cut off after waiting a half hour to get in. A problem they could easily avoid by reverting back to a reservation system.

Great family time ...but

Family vacation over Christmas. December 19-26. Great job Candice at tripcentral, fantastic service. Limo pick up at 6am to go to airport good. Given instructions for arrival. Post 29 etc. Great job. You now pay large for cheap crappy food on board. Son had mac and cheese, wife had soggy pizza, I had lazagna. Bill came to $32. Frozen pasta dinner from micalina(?) is better and only cost a dollar. Jamaican airport is a zoo. Bus to resort Waited 2 hours at airport for a person who took wrong bus before driver left for resort. Arrival at resort at approx 8 pm.14 hours traveling. Arrived at resort to find room booked for third floor. No elevator. Wife with cane. Hotel was sent request for ground floor when booked. "Upgraded room" to oceanfront from ocean view. Look around trees to see ocean. Also right at pathway intersection. Room 1049. Like being parked at busy highway. Room having been upgraded last year, good. Need to fix broken tile on floor as it has sharp edges.Had to have rollaway bed brought for son. Water pressure very low at all times. Unless you are going on excursions, don't waste time going to orientation.sunwing more pushy for excursions than pedallers on beach. Food... Mediocre at best. We at at buffet on arrival. Late in day therefor food warm at best. Selection was ok but repetitive and got worse through week. Try to be at omelette bar early and you won't have to wait. up to 25 minutes one day for me. Kulinarium rest. Pumpkin soup good Fancy salad excellent Snapper good - me Goat good- wife Duck ok -17 yr old usually picky son Mandalay rest. I could not eat here. Tried several things, cold, greasy, Wife- ok at best Son - indifererent Italian rest. - did not go. No pasta dishes?! Beach. Sandy beach with small tree roots, be careful. Fogged and raked every morning at about 6 am. People on it or not. No sand fleas or bugs thou. Day Activities by entertainment staff were excellent and kept our son busy most days. Way to go Rolly-Polly. Wow, what energy. Pools were good. Clean. Pools games fun to watch. Son took part in some. One unfortunate incident by drunks fighting. Ugly and a disappointment but not a resort issue. Unfortunately, staff didn't know what to do. Evening entertainment, Preshows involve audiences participation fun. I saw 3 shows and steel drums. History of Jamaican music, good Africa? Left some of audience detached Circus. Left after 2 very slow balancing acts Steel drums, wife says they were alright DRINKS Come on guys, I TRIED to get drunk one day, 25 double rum piña coladas each with wife and I. Normal night for me is 4-5 max at home. Didn't happen. Departure, Original checkout time from resort set for 10 am. Told bus pick up for airport 11. Packed checked out and waiting. Then told bus now 1 pm. Ok, I'm at resort. Dressed for air conditioned travel. Bus showed up at 1:20. Is that our bus? Sunwing rep didn't know. Arrived at airport in record time. Wow driving incredibly fast. 80 km limit , no way. Called limo for pick up kept company informed of flight status. Arrived at airport flight time and gate changed to two hours later. Delta passengers were given sandwich and soda pop for only 2 hour delay. Flight time changed at least twice more.finally boards at 7 pm. Land in Toronto at approx 11 pm. Limo pick up driver did not follow procedure and sign in. Therefor left at airport making phone calls to closed company.... finally driver shows at approx 1 am. Not impressed. Overview, Great family time together. Traveling left room for improvement . Sunwing in particular. Get it together. It about the customers. Hotel, room ok. Food needs improvement. House Wine needs to be replaced, undrinkable. Christmas bottled wine good. Drinks thin.Beach good. Pools good.

Amazing resort

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms were beauiful and spaceous. The public areas were clean at all times. The restaurants we delicious. Large resort but everything felt central. Felt right at home : ) Going back next year.

Great Time

Loved it just wished there was music by the pool or beach all the time. And more entertainment that lasted more then 10pm. Great location, great beach. Try walking to one end to another it's beautiful and so many different small fish on the one end. Every time we wanted to go somewhere we had to take a private bus which got expensive

Meh

The food was repetitive, the beach was nice although lots of seaweed and alot of locals trying to sell you stuff, the pools were not very big, the rooms were nice, bit of a drive to get to the resort but a nice secnic view of Jamaica. Al a carte restaurants weren't very good other then the steak house. Still made the best of our trip an enjoyed ourselves.

Beautiful resort

Resort looks bigger on the picture, however it is beautiful. The rooms are extremely clean, with foyer like entrance giving you lots of space... You are only able to book a la carte only 2 days at a time, so you can't book your entire week. Lots of chairs available at pools and beach. No need to get up early and place towels... Beautiful beach......

Not impressed

The hotel was 90 minutes from the airport, long trip but still had to stop for a beer break (unacceptable). On the way back had to wait at another resort for 20 minutes while the person got to the bus. Out of seven days only had hot water for four and when we did get hot water had to let it run for at least 5 minutes to get it. Sand fleas around pool area and outdoor table areas not good.

Great Resort!

Great food and lots of selection every night at main buffet. Very clean resort both on grounds and rooms. Staff were friendly and welcoming, never felt unsafe on resort, beach or out with the locals. Beach was beautiful and perfect for walking along or tanning, but also enough shady areas for those of us that tend to burn easy. Ocean is shallow and weedy in front of resort so not the best for swimming...but it was perfect and easy to snorkel and see tons of fish and marine life (urchins, starfis [... read more]h, coral, etc).

Riu Negril, fun vacation

We stayed at the Riu Negril, March 31 to April 7. When we walked into the lobby we had a beautiful view of the ocean. Check-in went smoothly and we made our way to our room. We were in building two which was the perfect location. It was the only building with a pool in the courtyard. There was also a main pool further down with daily activities. We had an ocean view room that was small,but clean and comfortable, thanks to Paulette our housekeeper. There were cold drinks in the fridge which were  [... read more]replenished every second day. We went to the buffet for the majority of our meals because the food was so good. We tried one a la cart (Asian) which was also very good. We were concerned about mosquitoes but only saw three within the week. However there were minuscule black bugs that did bite so I would recommend bug spray. The Sun Wing representative Hubertprovided the information we needed and was readily available. Because we were in a bay, there wasn't very much wind and the water was very calm. The beach was great but I did not like the water. There were patches of weeds and my husband was stung by something, probably a sea urchin. I would recommend water shoes . There were vendors on the beach but a simple no thank you was accepted. There were numerous security guards walking the beach. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and everyone spoke English. We were confused by the no tipping policy and inquired about it. We were told that tipping wasn't mandatory but very much appreciated so we tipped the same way we tipped at other resorts. If you want to hear an amazing singer, go to the lobby bar in the evening. The bartender has a fantastic voice. There was a good band in the courtyard also. The stage shows were okay. Overall we had a fun and relaxing vacation.

Great trip- planning to return!

My wife and I just got back from our Jamaica vacation at the Rui Negril. Booked the trip through our Super agent Lisa Akenhead @ TripCentral in Ottawa. Everything was as expected. No surprises. Flight on Sunwing , transfers and check-in all went very well. The newly renovated rooms were spotless and kept very well during our stay. The hotel staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating.
