Excellent Resort

This was my first trip out of Canada. My Brother and Sister in Law bought the trip for me as a gift. The Resort was beautiful. Pools were clean, All the bars were well stocked and service was excellent. Rooms were clean. This is an easy resort to get around due to it's size and layout.. Would definitely go back.

Beautiful resort!

This resort was great, quiet, friendly staff. The only complaint I would have is the temperature of the jacuzzi by the pools. It should be at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit but was only about 75-80. Even the pool water could be warmer to enjoy better. But overall, we really loved this resort and have recommended to friends.

Beautiful resort

The resort was beautiful. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing and the pools were very big and clean. A la carte restaurant were very good as well as the buffet. I would defenetly recommend this resort. They also offered a variety of activities such as badminton, tennis, soccer, dance classes and basket ball.

Amazing resort!

What a wonderful time we had! The staff is very nice, helpful and caring. THe rooms are spacious and clean. The food is ok. I really loved the buffet at breakfast time. The cook Daniel made us good omelettes every morning. The Japanese restaurant is very good. The beach is breathtaking. I would return!!

Enjoyed our stay here!

We stayed here for 5 days and the resort made our stay enjoyable! The beach was beautiful and the pool was very clean. Food wasn’t bad, had a lot of varieties. People at the resort were very friendly. The resort itself was very clean but the rooms need a little bit more improvement on comfort level. The resort is not close to any major cities, but they had a lot of activities to keep the people entertained. Overall it is really a 4.5 stars resort.

Pretty good resort!

Enjoyed our stayed at this resort! Price was a little high because of the holiday season, and the weather wasn’t the greatest but the resort did everything to make everyone’s stay enjoyable with lots of entertainment. The rooms weren’t luxury but it was clean. People there were amazing! From reception to the restaurant workers, bar service, cleaners and all the workers around the resort, all were super friendly and helpful. I would want to revisit this resort again in the future and recommend it!

Great staff

Rooms could use a refreshing but are clean and comfortable. Food limited but good quality. The great staff more than make up for any shortcomings. Lengthy bus ride to resort. Good value for the money.

Awesome resort

It was so lovely to be back at this wonderful resort. We are always very pleased with our room, food, staff and even had a surprise at the beach 3 hammerhead sharks. They were in feeding on the fish in the warm water. They did not bother with us.

A hidden gem

I have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and believe the Melia Cayo Santa Maria is the best value for money available. The staff is amazing, the food good (my husband gained weight during our 2 week stay), the exercise programs and entertainment have enough variety to suit anyone. The resort is small enough to suit people who don’t wish to walk much but the beach is beautiful and great for a long walk if desired. The only drawback is the 1.5 hour bus ride from the airport to the resort but if you add that to the short plane ride from Toronto it is less total time than a longer plane ride (and better scenery).

Amazing staff at this resort!

The staff were amazing! always asking about our comfort and if we need anything! First room had a clogged sink and un-secured safe but staff was quick to re-assign another room which was perfect. Beach was beautiful and entertainment awesome!

Nice Place

The Hotel and staff were great except the Room. We had to upgrade our room, even with the upgrade the room was not as clean. Had to ask for towels more than once. The bellhops were very helpful, the Chefs and waitresses were welcoming.

Good choice for Cuba

We stayed here for a week in November. Beach is beautiful, pool is perfect. We room was also fine, roomy with a nice balcony and a king size bed. No regrets, except we found the food really left something to be desired. We were aware of the food issues in Cuba (have been 3 other times) but was hoping at a 4.5 star it would be better. Unfortunately, that's not the case. They run out of everything, and have little choice for drink mixes, and most of the mixes (juices,etc.) are powdered. How [... read more]ever, if that's not your focal point, and for the price at this off-season time of year, I think the Melia CSM is a good bet, and we would return (of course we had fantastic weather, which made our trip).

Excellent resort only possible fault could be the 90 min trip, air port to resort.

i can not think of anything negative t say about this resort, every thing ,garden, clean ,people were unbelievablie good. some went above & beyond to make our stay enjoyable mainly louie the pool boy &the cigar bar personal. we found the people in all services as good as it can get.

Always a good time in Cuba

was looking to the Cristal cervasa but they ran out day 2. Some thing with a supply issue, even the draft was not available. Hope they resolve the issue before the busy season. The lobby and rooms were great. We were at this resort 2 years ago and the management and staff worked hard after hurricane Irma to repair damage that was done.Friendly staff.

Amazing and relaxing

If you’re looking for something quiet and relaxing with some good evening entertainment this is the resort you want. The resort was amazing well kept and very clean. The people that worked on the resort we’re very nice intentive and generous. The beaches are amazing. What a Difference a Year Makes

Last year after Hurricane Irma we visited the hotel and it was in great shape. This year the foliage has fully returned to all the trees and the flowers are out in bloom. Work has continued on upgrades to this resort. Just before we arrived a new GM/Director was installed replacing the former who arrived last January. The Tex Mex restaurant was closed for renovations but was available off nights in the Mediterranean. Although it is considered off season all facilities were operating. The staff a [... read more]re the heart of this resort and do an excellent job in making sure the guests are priority one, Food was quite good and of course plentiful. Lobster for some reason is not available as before and now must be paid for if requested (18 cuc) as well the was no calamari which may change. We had no problems changing beach towels when required. The beach is in great shape with lots of fine white sand. There are plenty of loungers and shaded areas on both the beach and pools so no need to save anything early. The CIGAR BAR/LOUNGE is now open behind the Lobby Bar where cigars and Vintage Rums can be purchased by the shot or bottle at reasonable prices. That is cheaper than the Duty Free prices. The Lobby bar is non smoking under the roof and the pool bar has gone non smoking as well. The new GM asked for our thoughts and concerns and is always about meeting with the guests and staff. There were some 27 or more return guests on this trip and we all met at the Returning Guest Dinner which is held weekly and attended by senior hotel staff and guests . No see me's were out in force after dark and early mornings until the sun was fully up and spray was required. Many first time visitors were amazed at the smaller size , the staff, and food and have said they are planning return trips, some as soon as January. We are now looking forward to our next visit in April.

Incredible Resort

This hotel is one of the nicest we've been to. The food was incredible, whoever complains about the food is crazy !! The staff, way too many to list as they are super courteous, friendly and go above and beyond service. The grounds are impeciable. The pool ,sometimes dirty but they get on it right away and clean it. The snack bar has pizza, hamburgers, fries and drinks. The a la carte's are fantastic. The beach, beautiful, the food , fantastic , the staff incredible. The rock band they had, simply amazing ! The entertainment is somewhat sub par but they do try. The day time entertainment doesn't get enough credit and seriously people , you're on vacation, get off your butts and get involved and have some fun, they do try very hard. Other than the 1.5 hour drive , it's well worth the time. ***** for me

Remarkable Resort

This has been our third visit to Melia Cayo and we have no complaints. I am totally shocked with the recent reviews online. What is there not to like? The food is great, the beach is fabulous, rooms are very clean, etc... We will be returning and renewing our vows next yr at Melia Cayo Santa Maria. The staff ARE ALL GREAT! No need to mention any names as they are all very friendly...right down to the gardeners.

First time to Cuba and enjoyed my trip. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pools,beach and grounds very nice. Food not so great but always something to eat to get bye. Would like something a little closer to airport. Would recommend resort to friends/family.
