Super excelente!

We liked the hotel which was very clean and all the other facilities. Food was very good too and all the staff were helpful and friendly. The activities at the pool were enjoyable.The beach was clean and safe even for people who can't swim.

Amazing time spent

We had an amazing time @ Iberostar Varadero. People and staff are friendly. Amazing beach and pool area. Food are great for us. As for the ALA CART restaurants highly recommend the Mediterrinean. Please do not book the Japanese Restaurant. We find sushi is too sour (too much vinegar on the rice and rice are too mushy) Fried rice are too salty. Other than the Japanese restaurant, the buffet food are not bad.

Outstanding

amazing resort, great beach, outstanding service. great entertainment for both kids and adults. great water park. vast water pools for both adults and kids. I loved the fact they have separate pools for both families and adults only. a paradise for sure. amazing beach great sand. wow! that is a breath taking beach clean and the service amazing both at the beach area and the resort.

Excelent Vacation

The beach was beautiful, the hotel and food was good. Except there is a lots of mosquitos. Must bring mosquito repellent. The services in the meal room need to be more dedicated to their working designation. The food is good, but need a little more variety not too much repetition. overall is good we would recommend this place.

Awesome Resort!!!

We found this resort to be amazing. The grounds were beautiful and well tended. Public facilities were kept very clean and stocked. Rooms were spacious and the bathroom seem updated. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Enjoyed the activities at the beach and around the pool. Attended all the shows at night and enjoyed them. Wished the disco was more popular. They had a variety of choices for people who were not into fish.

Awesome!

So many people had much to say about resorts in Cuba but our resort was great! The food, people, location, rep, beach - everything was perfect. We met people from all over the world. We felt very safe and we were treated so well. It worries me how the Americans may change the tourism there - I hope not.

Beautiful time at a beautiful resort

Our group of four just returned from a week at the Iberostar Varadero. We had stayed there several times before, but not in the last six years, so were anxious to see how time has changed things. There were a few familiar faces and many new ones which is to be expected. The grounds were even nicer than before, with the trees and plantings maturing and thriving through the years. The ocean level seems to have risen with beach erosion the unfortunate result. While there, the resort brought in a l [... read more]arge bulldozer to level the beach and eliminate a plateau created by the wave action. We were told that the long range plan is to cut back some of the vegetation to extend the distance from trees to ocean. One of the secrets of this resort is that it is a small resort with a lot of beachfront. You can be close to the action if you want, or far away if you like it quieter. The lunch buffet by the pool was our favourite. Table service was attentive, food good, and a different musical group playing Cuban music every day. Lots of birds flying around. Watch out for bird poop on your chair. The main buffet was also good. I sometimes find myself resorting to pasta when other choices don't appeal, but this week I only ate it once. Lots of variety, great taste and beautiful presentation. House wines were OK with a la carte choices available for extra $$$$. Our room was almost perfect. The bathroom was showing it's age a little. The bed was very comfortable, AC worked perfectly, balcony was large with drying rack for bathing suits, towels etc. Small size of resort means that you are never far away from anything. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable. This resort is a real gem, with great service, lovely surroundings and comfortable rooms. This was our fourth visit and we will be back.

The Best Resort in Cuba for sure!!!!

Honestly the best Resort in Cuba! We went to Cuba 10 years ago and got so turned off because of the food and never returned back. After hearing good thing about Iberostar Varadero from some of our friends we decided to take our chance. We were truly blown away with this place! Mexico is better than Cuba

Grounds were good, the pool and beach are great, people are ok, but the lousy food ruins the experience!!!!! Have been to Mexico, and find it much better, when you spend the day worried about what they are going to feed you for dinner, that kinda ruins the fun!!

Amazing vacation

We were overwhelmed at how wonderful the staff were at this resort. The hotel was beautiful and super clean. The grounds were beautiful and the beach amazing. As expected given where we were the food was not terrific but still ok. The only complaint I have is we had ants in our room - this was NOT significant enough to put a damper on our vacation. We had an amazing time!

My 1st Vacation at the Iberostar Varadero, Cuba

The entire Resort was simply amazing and more than what I had ever dreamed it would be. I am so happy I finally got to stay at the Iberostar Varadero, Cuba and will definitely be returning in the future.

Lovely hotel , staff very friendly and helpful , food fresh and good flavor , junior suites very spacious and comfortable, great beach areas , in general a great place for a relaxing holiday, even though children are allow one hardly saw them , they had a great program for them and an awesome swimming pool for them .

Fantastic

One of the top resorts in Cuba!

We just returned from a week's stay at Iberostar Varadero. We traveled with two boys aged 6 and 9. My wife and I have stayed at a variety of resorts in Jamaica, Mexico & Cuba, including Sandals and Couples resorts. This was our first vacation as a family. My first overall comment was that there was very little or no wait times anywhere on the resort. At the buffets, the lobby, the currency exchange desk, or any bars, our wait time would usually be zero or worst case a minute or two. This means  [... read more]more beach/drinks/pool time! The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and there was always hot water and a fully stocked fridge. The fixtures and furnishings are showing some age, but they worked fine and it was a very nice room. We stayed in block 12, which was far enough from the Disco/Performances so with the fan on we weren't disturbed. We split our time between the beach and the pool. Both were very nice, and never seemed too crowded. We could always find chairs, and lineups at the many bars were usually very short or non-existent. They had roaming serving staff as well and we used them several times when we didn't feel like getting up. The buffet food was decent and offered good variety at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Mediterranean and A-la-carte restaurants were just ok - some of the courses were lacking flavor and some dishes over-cooked. The Japanese was fun, and the meat/seafood that was grilled in front of us was tasty, although a little over-salted. In summary I'd say the resort offered great food relative to other Cuban resorts. A note to folks with allergies: My wife has a gluten allergy and they printed up a letter at check in and shared it with the restaurants. This did help with communication, but in the end it simply meant that most options weren't available to her as they use flour in many dishes and sauces. The kid's club was a lot of fun for my kids. They met other kids their ages, and we were expecting them to dread going but they kept nagging us to take them there, which meant mom and dad had several hours of peace on the beach!!! The staff at the club are very enthusiastic and fun, and my kids spent several hours playing around the pirate ship pool with the tipping bucket. My kids also enjoyed the "kids disco", a little dancing/game playing treat that ran between 8 and 8:45pm. We booked the "swim with the dolphins" experience via our sunwing rep. It was a cool experience, but with the boat/bus journey it took over 4 hrs instead of the 2.5-3 hrs that was advertised. I wish we had booked 9am instead of 11am as it felt like it took the whole day. I snuck away for a round of golf at Varadero Golf Club that I booked via sunwing. A great track with slow greens that does look a little worn in places. However I would highly recommend it - some great holes including the spectacular ocean-side 18th. Lastly - the staff were very nice. The gardeners gave my kids little animals made from plants and my wife some flowers. I asked one of them to make a bouquet for my wife for her Birthday and it was fantastic! The bartenders were great, and we got to know some of the serving staff and had some laughs with them. We tend to be tippers so I'm sure that helped. Note: We can't comment on the performances as we were in bed before they started.

Fantastic Resort!!

This hotel was incredible. The staff was very friendly and the resort itself was beautiful and very clean. There were activities for the kids so our son loved it too. The nightly entertainment was INCREDIBLE; it even involved the kids so our 2 year old looked forward to the shows as much as we did. We had an amazing time.

Great Food

Third time to Iberostar Varadero and loved it as much as the first two times. My sisters and I love the pool, beach and activities. Very clean and great food. I will go back again next year. Donna from Hamilton On

Beautiful and contained

If you want to go somewhere to veg out, eat and drink all you want, lay by the pool and/or the beach, in a clean, safe, meticulously maintained place, and have more recreational activities than you can participate in, (from water exercise, to nightly entertainment) you can be sure you'll have all that here. The staff are over the top -- efficient and friendly. It's also easy not to see how difficult most Cuban's lives are; we tipped at every meal, and if you go off the resort, I call it legal be [... read more]gging; you might want to bring lots of pesos to tip everywhere on any excursion.

Iberostar Varadero - Will not return

Let me preface this review with, I don't drink any alcohol. So my wife and I really focus on the service, food, amenities and activities. Food - we ate to survive Amenities - Nothing special Service - missing Beach - awesome! was deciding between this and Royal Hicacos & Paradisus

Fantastic resort and Staff

We were not 100% sure if Cuba was the place we wanted to visit as we heard the food was just OK!.We were proved Wrong.there was something for everyone at the Buffet and the specailty resturants had very good selections.The staff was exellent and tried to get to participate,If you did not want to the let you be,not like other resorts we have been to.the ground were well kept and the ground staff were friendly and often made little birds and stuff out of coconut leaves. Great resort

Being a very fussy traveller myself, I always thoroughly research resorts and hotels before booking and just hope for the best. Well I can safely say I was hugely impressed with the Iberostar Varadero. Rooms were always air conditioned, spacious and beds were large and comfortable. The resort staff were friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome.
