Beautiful Resort

Hospitality was excellent. Great employees. Food was excellent for all inclusive, lots of options. A la cartes were great! Red wine was good. Fantastic view from our room in main building. Room 317 - Thanks Danny! A lot of walking/stairs, but there were shuttles available as well. Wifi only in lobby was too limited. Also needed more seating in lobby to accommodate people wanting to use Wifi. Would have been better if Wifi available in rooms. Entertainment was very good as well.  [... read more] I like the idea that lounge chairs were not to be held/reserved (signs posted.) Chairs were always available when needed.

I will be back....

I have stayed at the Luxury Bahia in La Romana, at the Grand Bahia in Punta Cana and a resort in Puerta Plata. Nothing compares to the beauty and service at the Cayacoa. The lush mountains of the surrounding jungle and view of the Bay is breathtaking. The other reviews are correct that your stay may not be perfect. I met others who had issues with WIFI in their rooms, tubs that wouldn't drain or luke warm showers. But the smiles of all of the servers more than make up for any little inconvenie [... read more]nces. This truly is the one resort that I will come back to someday.

Great trip

Resort was clean and beautiful. Great time. A few issues with check in. They didn't give us the proper bands and services we paid extra for. The privledge club. The desk manager was rude and made us print out proof that we had purchased the upgrade. Otherwise food is great. A la cartes are great. Beach was beautiful. Excursions a lot of fun. We saw whales!!!

Amazing Views

Hotel is absolutelty beautiful. Stunning Views. Very Clean throughout. Excellent food. Most reviews talk about not good if you have mobility issues. Depending on the room I didn't find an issue with getting around. Shuttles will take you back and forth to the room.

Wonderful time because of wonderful people/resort!

This is a great resort! I was skeptical at first - worried about my mobility issues (double hip surgeries) but no problems at all. They have shuttles and golf carts to take you to any area on the resort, to get to the beach a very modern and quick elevator. We were located in the main building, steps away from the amazing buffet and the main pool. What made this resort unique was the amazing people working there! Mercedes, Ana, Dady (especially Dady the manager of the main dining lounge WOW!) Pablo (Lewis) Raul the bartender made for a great stay. I never heard one bad thing about anything or anyone (other than a sour faced lady (?) who complained the music was too loud (go to the beach where there is quiet and peace if that is what you want! Your in the Dominican - ENJOY!) The meals - they were great. Lots of everything - mixed it up as much as possible and DO NOT book any a la cartes on Gala night. The resort must have brought in around 500-600 lobsters, plus mussels, clams, crabs (legs) oysters as well as chicken, beef. All servers are wanting to please and Dady will make sure that it is. We did have an issue with the room key not working but it was corrected as quickly as possible. The air conditioner could have been colder - but it was ok. I was leaving the cold - didn't need to be reminded of what was waiting for my return! The room was clean, the resort is continuously cleaning, painting, picking up and scrubbing. The beach is cleaned every morning the pools and hot tubs are scrubbed down every morning. The animation team tries to keep everyone involved and has games or will sit down and chat and make everyone feel welcome. Thank you again Pablo (Lewis) for explaining some of the Dominican culture to us. If you want a huge sprawling resort this might not be the resort for you but if you want some pleasant, and personable people looking after you with good food, lots of drinks that are very well made please consider Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa.

Great small resort!

The resort was clean and well maintained. The food was good in the buffet but pretty much the same each day. I only liked the meddeterrain a la carte restaurant. We spent most of our time at the main pool and it was great. Just the right amount of entertainment. Overall I would recommend this resort as a great place to relax for a week.

Great place to take a vacation

The resort was very clean and well maintained. Food was excellent with lots to choose from. Staff was very helpful and always greeted you with a smile. Never had a problem finding loungers at the pool or the beach. Only issue we had was no hot water in the shower the last two days of our trip.

Friendly, accommodating resort

Very pretty, serene, resort on a hill top with spectacular views of the bay. Room was spacious, no ambient noise at night and housekeeping was great. All in all this resort has it all from friendly reception staff, to a nice selection of food at breakfast, dinner and supper. Bar area inside and outside was very spacious and inviting.

Amazing views!

The views were absolutely stunning here! The food is very good and the resort is nice and well maintained. Very clean!!! Everyone is so friendly! One thing I would say is there are a lot of stairs which we liked because it was good exercise (HAHA) but if you are elderly and can't do many stairs this may be difficult. They do offer 24 hour shuttle service though which helps a lot. Just have to call front desk and they send it in a timely manner!

Good Food-stay away from the Ala Carte-bad guest service experience

The buffet was good, excellent choices of fish, waitstaff were quick to clean up and top up your water/coffee/wine. A different story at the Ala Carte, orders were messed up, wait staff in a hurry/seems agitated or rude, quality of food was bad. Evening shows were great and there were activities by the pool from 10-6 everyday. We had a delay in getting our rooms upon checking in and the guest service agent was hesitant to explain about the activities available at the hotel despite having no line [... read more] behind us. He kept asking us to ask our Transat agent. Dont buy the VIP lounge voucher offered by Transat as the agent(Merieve=Canadian from Quebec) claimed that there will not be a/c nor decent food in the airport, however, we were just fine and there was a duty free shop and a decent place to eat. I slipped and fell on the hallway over a puddle of water. My husband went to the front desk to alert them so they can clean up and to see if I can get some help. On the way he met Merieve (Transat agent) and they both went to the front desk. There both of them claimed that I might be faking it. I would think that being a Canadian you should know better. First, you ensure the guest is alright, then you clean up the puddle so that no others fall. Instead, they make an audacious statement. Shame on you both Merieve and Danny! This has definitely affected my overall experience both with the hotel and with Transat. I was on vacation to relax not to swindle Pesos

Great Resort Located on side of hill!

Hotel was Great! Lots of walking and stairs! Rides are available through concierge no problem Still need to do some stairs, but elevators are available in main building Pools and beach very nice, we used both! Lobby bar is great! Nice seating Our room was quite far away, so we did use transportation to and from our room, coffee service in room, not available in lobby till 7am, but so faraway from our room not a problem... Dady in the buffet was a great help! Service is wonderful, buffet is small , but lots of choice....We would go back but stay in main building..Frogs love singing all night long! Wonderful Time at the Grand Bahia Cayacoa!

My husband and I travelled to Samana, D.R. during the last week of November, and even though I was anxious about the weather, we had sunshine and heat all week long! The resort is beautiful, clean, with breathtaking views! The staff work very hard to ensure their guests' stay is enjoyable, from the food right down to the cleanliness of the pool! There are alof of steps, and the resort is wide-spread, so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the resort for you. We went off-season and our wait was very short, but it could be much longer depending on how full the resort is.

Fantastic time crazy views

It all started with the best hotel coordinator ever. I'm talking about Danny at the front desk of the cayacoa resort. Every need question n comfort was addressed and executed. The views were amazing. The resort had an elevator to one beach and a golf kart to the other. The pool yes with a pool bar sits high above the ocean and feels like royalty. Manuel at the late night buffet was amazing too as well as the bar tender at the disco who's name I forgot. Great experiences I feel like it's underrated. N I've gone back 3 times in 3 months that's how much I liked it. I recommend the gift Store Hemzone on the samana town. They had some great jewelry pieces made on the premises. All n all great place. Trip central square one office was very convenient professional n I will continue using them Anna torrefranca is the agent to go to she was super fun informative n professional thank you.

Decent Vacation

First I have to thank Nita at tripcentral.ca for her work in booking our vacation to the Cayacoa. She notified the resort that we were traveling there for our anniversary and the resort responded with nicely decorated table for our anniversary dinner and a happy anniversary signage on our room door . Nita has come through for us every time we have booked with her. Now for the resort. PRO's The alacarts were delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff was friendly. The room in the R [... read more]oyal service area was quiet with an ocean view. The maids did a great job keeping our room clean and tidy. The shuttle drivers were always friendly and never expected a tip for their services but we always gave them one. The buffet was very good and the meal on Gala night was an added bonus with the lobster and other shell fish. CON'S Too many stairs to every where, I think there were a 100+ stairs from our room to the pool. Pool is too small. Wifi only in lobby, I think if you pay the extra for Royal Service you should have it included in your room. Royal Service, for what you get it is just not worth it. The Royal service lounge is just a room with cookies and a couple of computers, and I thought a consierge was a person who personally took care of you and not just a person you never see when you call them. A lot of construction work happening while we were there. While the beach that is at the bottom of the elevator is ok the other one in the Royal service area is not a beach at all but rather small areas of sand between trees overhanging the water. The staff at front desk were excellent and responded to your needs or requests right away. This hotel is a very nice looking hotel that is kept very clean. The surrounding area is picturesque . While I would rate this hotel as very good I am not sure I would return. Because of all the stairs there really is not a lot of places to go for walks at night and that is something my wife and I like to do and sometimes it felt a little closed in. We wanted to see the Samana area and now we have . Also we went on the excursion to El Limon waterfall, and I would say it is over rated, the area where you can swim is small with a very rocky bottom, and the trail for the horses is full of large rocks and I don't know how the horses don't get hurt walking on it , I would not do this excursion again and I could not recommend it to anyone who cared about a horse.

Bad experience at Bahia Principe Cayacoa

A 2 weeks family vacation at the end of October 2017. We have booked a sea view room. The view from the balcony was very nice ... unfortunately was the only positive thing at the hotel. The food was average ... the drinks selection poor, the beach a desaster. Around the hotel and on the breadge garbage everywhere ... the experience was so bad that we had changed the hotel after 2 days.

Amazing

Hotel was wonderful,their is not a bad view as you can see water from all directions , we had a view of the bay on the elevator side . Food was just average and there is premier liquor but you have to pay for it , this is the first for us. The grounds where beautiful, and the pool was wonderful. The animation team was the best . They would take time to get to know you , and always smiling. Thank you Alex , Caroline , Sexy, Edwardo, Amanda and the rest of the team .

Excellent views!

Recently we stayed at the Grand Bahia Príncipe Cayacoa for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The hotel was clean and well taken care of, the staff and food were wonderful! We loved the elevator to the beach and many nightly entertainment options. The all inclusive made everything easy. We would have changed the fact that the beach is not fully private (some locals have access) and we would have liked more souvenirs. Overall a great experience we would recommend!

Good resort if your a billy goat

We enjoyed our stay at the Bahia Principe Cayacoa. The food was excellent for the price. We were at the golden area and there are many stairs - 130 from bottom to top. It could be an issue for some if you aren't in shape. We found the beach lovely and always an abundance of chairs available. Our rooms were sufficient. The air conditioning didn't really cool the room to under 77 F. We found it difficult to sleep with the heat. Staff were great and overall we enjoyed our stay.

No Surprizes!

The resort was exactly what I expected. The scenery was spectacular, everything was very clean, pool and groubds were great. The beach was small but it had plenty of shade which os really important for me. The water was warm but a little murky. Its not the crystal clear pristine water but was fine for swimming. The food at the buffet was ok. I could find something I liked at every meal. The a la cartes were pretty good. My favorite was the Mediterranean. The rooms were nice although the bathroom [... read more] was small and the beds are very hard. The entertainment wasnt great - mostly audience participation shows. Overall for the price it was a great resort and I would recommend it.

5 Star Service!

This is a lovely hotel situated on a cliff with a panoramic elevator down to the beach. In our seaview room on the fourth floor we were still able to hear the surf pounding on the shore! All the employees go out of their way to provide excellent service with a smile and do not expect tips constantly like other resorts I have been to. Our plates were taken away as soon as we were finished with them and our glasses were never empty. The beach bartender works alone all day and is busy but always sings and serves customers with a smile, taking the time to make a quality drink each time. We never had any issues finding shady spots at the pool or beach at any time of the day. The beach is a public beach, however there were never any issues, it was nice to see the Dominican families enjoying the water. The first few days the water was wavy but once it settled down the snorkelling was amazing, many varieties of fish plus colorful coral. Best places were under the bridge and to the right by the rocks all the way over to the pier down by the snack bar. The food was plentiful, lots of variety with a different theme each night at the buffet. I wasn't crazy about the seafood restaurant, my fish was raw in the middle, the appetizer and dessert were good though. Loved the other two a la cartes. Lots of walking but I loved it as it gives you a chance to work off some of the delicious food and drinks! Loved walking the 'bridge to nowhere', very peaceful and perfectly safe. Would definitely recommend this resort and will hopefully return some day.
