Amazing resort, second time at this particular one
Love this place, huge resort, great beach, awesome pools, love the lazy river, food is good, with lots of variety. Staff is excellent and very friendly. Rooms are beautiful, only problem we found was that the beds always felt damp, room 2935.
They seem to need dehumidifiers.
A/C was fine.
Actually I would like to say a couple of things other than the hotel.
First, WestJet, since they charge for checked luggage, we found that most passengers squeeze all of their belongings into carry-on to a[... read more]void paying $30 per person each way, so it is impossible to put your carryon into your above provided airplane cubbies, we had to have them at our feet and my purse as well, in the already cramped tiny seating area.
Secondly, my husband and I were not aware that we were only allowed 200 cigarettes in each checked luggage, which we had but bought 1 extra Carton duty free on the way to Mexico, since we where going for 10 days. Nobody mentioned that this is not allowed & there where no signs either, nor did they tell us at duty-free. When going through customs in Mexico they ripped all of our check and carry-on luggage apart and ended up charging us on the extra carton a 680% fine which came to 4600.- pesos, divided by 13.333 Can Exchange, which equals roughly
$ 345.- Canadian dollars for a carton we paid $45.-can. native cigs. for. Absolute Bandits !!!!
This just leaves a real bad taste in your mouth when you’re first going on holidays.
Found out a few hours later that the same thing happened to my husband’s cousin and her husband when they went through customs two hours before us.
I wish that this was written out by your company a little bit better maybe, we had no clue, never had this problem in the past.
So then because they held us there for 45 minutes we missed the tour bus the providers helped us out fairly fast though once we got through customs and onto Mexican soil. My last and final complaint would be the drive from the resort back to the airport at the end of the holidays, BEST WAY, operator, and older gent. that picked us up at the resort October 7 around noon for our flight from Cancun to Toronto, I wish I would’ve taken his name or Vin number down. When arriving at the airport in Mexico he unloaded everybody’s luggage nobody tipped him so when it came to my husband and my luggage, the last people to get our things, he unloaded all of our pieces but one of our suitcases and almost held it for ransom hustling us up for a tip.
We gave him a tiny bit of change but this should not happen.
Unbelievable !!! The nerve of him !!!
We are good tippers in general and make sure that our room service girl, bartenders, waiters,.... all of them at the resort get tips from us and if they provide really great service then a little extra.
So most of our issues were not at the resort but everything surrounding the trip.

Very nice hotel lazy river was a plus, however lots of walking and weren’t eager to drive us around unless we were just arriving.
Nice staff good food and clean grounds.
Weren’t happy they made no special accommodations as requesting by my booking rep it was my birthday and they didn’t seem to care we requested a higher floor with an ocean view.

Wonderful vacation!
The Grand Sirenis did not disappoint! The grounds are immaculate, the employees are very friendly, the rooms clean and spacious and the food was awesome. Only drawback was the seaweed problem making swimming undesirable. The air conditioning in the room had a hard time keeping up to the weather.

Excellent resort!
The resort is absolutely amazing, however be prepared to walk as it is very large. Not complaining as the amount of fabulous food you eat, you need the walks...The reason we went there was to snorkel, however due to the seaweed that is on every coast we were limited unfortunately (no fault of theres) as they worked diligently every day to try to remove it but way too much to handle :(. We were there for two weeks and honestly the resort and the staff could not have been better. If I was to rec[... read more]ommend one change it would be that the A/C in the room did not go cold enough for me. The man says it was fine but for me could have been a little cooler for sleeping. We would definitely go back, love Mexico and Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya!

Would go back
This hotel was amazing. From the layout, to the workers, the food offered many options, excellent el a cartes and fun or relaxing pools- you choose! They had lots of activities going at the pools which definitely made up for my one complaint - nothing they can really fix- the seaweed beach. It smelt and we couldn’t spend time enjoying the nice beach they did have. It was a problem for the whole east coast, maybe it’s better different months of the year, I experienced this end of April. Every[... read more]thing else was amazing- always something to do here, and close enough to attractions north/south of the resort.

A Great Resort
This hotel, although quite big, was very nice. Quite modern and well kept. Rooms were fabulous and spacious.
The main pool which is also the activity pool lacked activity at times. The disco was located on the outer edge of the resort which was kind of removed from the hub of all activities. I found it never busy possibly for this reason but there were golf carts which would take you there. The sky bar was a nice place to hang out for live performers. The nightly shows were awesome as thry play[... read more]ed live instruments and they sang. The beach or lack there of was fine. It's common on that side of Mexico for beaches to be like that. Alot of erosion going on. Great for snorklers. Seaweed can be a problem on windy days. The food at the buffets were great. Lots of variety. The best A la Cartes were Steakhouse and Japenese. Never got to really enjoy the whole emenities of the resort due to its size. Staff were amazing all over the resort. The spa services are well worth the extra $$$. We treated ourselves on the ladt day.

Sweet Memories made at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya
Joined my daughter and son in law and their 2 children, 2 days after they had arrived at the resort. Beautiful large clean rooms with a choice of a king bed or 2 doubles plus a queen pullout couch; very comfortable beds. Friendly, helpful courteous staff. The lazy river was great fun, snorkelling off from one of the beaches was nice but not the variety of fish one would find in Cozumel but interesting to view that part of the reef just the same. Beautiful resort, that is well worth the 1 1/2 ho[... read more]ur drive from the airport in Cancun in a comfortable air conditioned van. Food was very delicious and they provide a special kids menu at all of the a la cart specialty restaurants . The kids club was great for kids 4-12, but you can go there if you accompany your younger children under age 4 and the staff were fantastic! There is also a quiet adult pool if you're not into all the action filled family events at the large main pool with swim up bar and music. Something for everyone, but might be alot of walking for someone with mobility issues as only owners at the resort were allowed to use the resort transportation. The free dolphin show at the resort was great. No complaints from me, just thankful for the great vacation experience!

Nice resort
The Grand Sirenis resort was quite nice modern style resort, tucked in a jungle type of atmosphere. Lots of animals and wild life but not to many to be a bother. The rooms have all been updated and the beds were very comfortable.
I was not overly impressed by the food especially the ala cartès.
The beach consists of three bays that are not all particularly easily swimmable. I loved spending many days on the beach which has a nice beach bar and washrooms close by. The week we were there [... read more]the water was quite rough and I was not able to go snorkel along the coral reefs that they have, but I have heard they are beautiful.

Fantastic vacation!
We stayed at the Grand Sirenis for 1 week March 14-21st. It was absolutely wonderful - accommodations and food were fantastic and the staff were outstanding. Always willing to go that extra mile. We would definitely go back again. Our entire family (including our teenage daughters) loved it! Jennifer did a great job at arranging all of the details for us.

A Little Disappointing 2nd Time Around
We enjoyed our first visit to Sirenis so much last year, we booked it again for this year. We did expect a ‘welcome back’ or some recognition that we were return visitors, but nothing. In fact, after arriving at the resort at 1pm we waited until almost 4pm for a room. We had made a room and building request when booking our trip, but that wasn’t considered at all. We were in a building we didn’t like (far from where we like to go- it’s a huge resort), and as a married couple they gave [... read more]us a room with two double beds. We asked to have. Room change with one bed and they told us one wouldn’t be available until the next day. Then they did find us one in another building. We had a third room change, to get into then building we had requested over a year ago. That was picky on our part, but with being there before, we knew what we liked. The rooms smell very mouldy, but I hear that’s the norm in the resorts. I’m not sure? The beach was beautiful, a massive amount of seaweed but they were working HARD for hours in the sun daily to get it removed. The quiet pool was never actually quiet - way too many screaming children. I have five children, nothing against children, but keep them out of the quiet area. It seems most parents just did what was convenient for them, not abiding by resort rules. The lazy tube River was my favourite mostly. Parents just let their kids run through the river without a tube, passing us, yelling, swimming under us. The smoking on the beach was pretty rank but we just moved spots. The entertainment was always excellent and well done. The little market on Saturday and Tuesday was neat, same things as last year, but the hounding to buy was annoying after a while. After being bothered on the beach so much by people asking us to book spa times, massage times and trip excursions, there was little patience left for selling tactics. Not very relaxing.
We took a Transat free trip to Tulum and stopped at a Jewelry Factory and Tequila tasting. Jewelry was neat but they do a speech and a salesperson takes you around the whole store and follows you the entire time- hard to shop and prices were way too high for what it was. The tequila tasting was neat, informative and interesting. Way less pressure to buy, but still there. Tulum was neat, had went last year so was quite similar. We did walk the recommended trails this year on the resort. They are very far from the buildings and on a part of the resort that has some condos and some development but not populated much at all. We saw the cenote on site on the trail and the biotanical gardens were really enjoyable but we didn’t last too long because of the bugs. Did you know there were scorpions there? I didn’t ! Until some lady was stung on the toe on the resort, then I was paranoid! Lots of neat animals to see on the resort. We only did one a la Carter this year because we prefered to do things on our own time and didn’t like the scheduled dinner time. We went to the Brazilian restaurant and it was excellent. The beach bar was our favourite. The buffet was always good, lots of options. The best thing, however, about Mexico is the people. They are always kind and friendly. Our room was always so nicely cleaned. When we left and checked out there was not a ‘how was your vacation, how was your stay, hope you come back. Although the resort is nice, we won’t likely return next year and will find a new resort to try.

Excellent resort.
My 7 day stay at Grand Sirenis was a wonderful experience. Everything you could want/expect from an all inclusive resort. The resort has multiple pools (plus the beach) and many poolside chairs so it is not difficult to find a spot either in the sun or in the shade. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, plus most spoke English, French, and of course Spanish so no translation issues whatsoever. The rooms are nice with good quality A/C and free wifi which was fairly good speed even at pea[... read more]k hours. The food was by no means amazing but good for all you can eat buffet and available at any hour of the day. The one con was the A la cartes, where the food was not much higher quality than the buffet food. That being said I only visited 4 so I can't speak for all of the restaurants. Overall it was a really good vacation, and I would highly recommend (just remember to pack plenty of sunscreen).

Spectacular!
What a beautiful resort. The staff was all so friendly and the resort was in pristine condition. Loved the food, especially the Brazilian restaurant. The beach had really nice sand and a section with hammocks. My favorite part was wondering down the jungle like paths. Even saw monkeys!

Service Questionable
We traveled to this resort during family day vacation and Valentines. For a resort this size I don't feel there is enough staff to accommodate the guests. I found the staff borderline unfriendly except for a few who made up for the rest, and we usually find the Mexican people friendly and witty. The rooms have all been renovated and are very nice but the resort is very stingy with the air conditioning and the rooms were stuffy at night for sleeping. You could not adjust the temperature. The [... read more]buffet is very repetitive and the a la cartes were alright but not over and above. You must book your a la cartes the very first day you are there or you will miss out on what you are after. You have to book with concierge of your building who at the very least was very abrupt with us since he was trying to upsell and we were not interested and he didn't take kindly to it. The beach as with most beaches in Mexico was not great for swimming but good for snorkeling.
We left this resort disappointed, which is a first for us since we have traveled to many resorts and have never encountered this level of service or should I say lack of.

Great stay
We love the pools, coffee bar, gym facilities and food at this resort! Our family of 5 was comfortable in the Junior Suite and it met our needs very well (kids aged 6, 7 and 9). This is our second time visiting the Grabd Sirenis and we intend to come back again in future years.
