Great Resort

Spent 5 days at this resort in August. The grounds were beautiful. Several different restaurants with a good selection of food. 24hr room service with a limited selection. Two pools, one with a swim up bar. Very quiet around the pool. Beach was beautiful. Lots of shade from palm trees and the water was protected by a floating barrier. The rooms were nice with a jacuzzi in it. Our room overlooked the pool which was very nice. Internet was provided but was poor quality at best of times and almost [... read more] nonexistent in the room. Timeshare rep is relentless, get rude with him and he'll disappear. We wondered around the family resort next door. It's grounds were beautiful however it it much louder. Had a great vacation here.

Awesome resort

This was our 3rd trip to Catalonia Royal. .....everything seems to get better each time .this year the new Thai restaurant.....delicious All your restaurants are superb. .and that is so important with an all. Inclusive. We will.be back next year for sure and maybe sooner if the resort can give us a deal..love to go for 10. Days

Nice resort

The resort was well maintained and clean. The service was adequate. Food was not exceptional but good and many choices. The maid service was marvellous. Any problems or concerns were dealt with immediately. The resort was adult only and was peaceful.

All that I expected and more....

My expectations were surpassed. The resort was super clean, the staff was helpful and plesant and the food was very delicious. I would definitely visit again. I would have liked to see more BBQ options on the beach. Fareeda

Beware of con artists on the premises

We were staying in Junior Suite Deluxe. The ceiling above the tub was showing signs of water leakage from above. People were very nice and polite. Food was not good except breakfast which was quite decent. Stay away from high-pressure selling artists of Exclusive Traveler Club.

An amazing time away from Canadian winter

The grounds are very nice. Considering this is an older reaort they are doing upgrades and additions to the grounds to freshen things up. No buffets only a la cart and no need for reservations which is awesome. Food was good always had something to eat, pizza was amazing and the alcohol was premium. Disappointing Trip

Rooms were nice and food was reasonable. Royal pool closed for full trip found out 3 days days b4 we arrived - substitute pool very dirty and poor conditions with peeling paint and mould on sides. Room internet did not work on first floor without going out on patio. Casino closed for 3 days unexpected maintenance. Very little action and old slot machines. We wanted to spend a lot time there but not worth it. Took taxi to other casinos $$$. 3 star rating is generous. Room service was good.

Started off rocky but quickly turned...

We arrived at night so it was hard to get around. That was frustrating (thanks to Sunwing..grr). within 2 days we were having amazing time. EXCELLENT resort... staff were incredible. This is a must go resort.

Great Place to Stay

A very nice place to stay. We felt so relaxed and cared for. We never had a meal we did not like. The romantic dinner on the beach was PERFECT and we recommend it to anyone staying at this resort. The pool was about to get renovations and the beach was slightly messed up from the weather but nothing that we could not manage and it did not impact our experience. Housekeeping a little short on towels some days but easily corrected.

Very relaxing Vacation

The Catalonia Royal Bavaro is a very nice resort. Being on the adult side was quiet and relaxing. The food was just right, and the service was incredible at all of the bars and restaurants. My hat goes off to the staff there!

Great resort! Food was good pools awesome! Rooms very clean staff were great,very helpful,did some excursions that were highlight of our trip,meet some very amazing people,very nice adult resort,great time

Excellent food!

We enjoyed our stay at the Catalonia Royal Bavaro. The restaurants, food and grounds were immaculately kept. However, our room was quite dated, the furnishings somewhat shabby and the maid service a little inconsistent. I would not categorize the Royal Bavaro as a 5 star hotel in comparison to others we have visited.

Beautiful

The rooms was awesome and clean. The only thing disappointing were the weeds in the water and on the beach although they worked all day at keeping it clean. Food was good but sometime seemed not cooked enough. Wasn't not impressed with the lack of money exchange at the front desk. No ATM on site the one at the market did not work so you were not able to access more money. The stores only took credit cards or charging to your room.

Many positives, but not a wow resort.

The staff are wonderful, always smiling and helpful. The property is beautiful and kept perfectly. The beach in front of the Adult side of the resort has been eroded by the ocean and is not great. Seaweed is a big problem. The replenishment of towels and robes in our room was hit and miss. The hotel should have each room inspected by head of housekeeping after cleaning to make sure that they are completed properly each day. As a partially disabled person, I found that access to the bar pool did  [... read more]not exist. The food at the adult resort was far better than the family side. The main diningroom menus are wonderful, nicely prepared and presented. Lastly, the main desk should have a person who is fluent in English. We found that language was an issue at times.

Wonderful getaway!!!!

My husband and myself enjoyed our vacation so much. The grounds were beautiful and people were very friendly. The people who work there are so genuine. Yes some have trouble understanding English but then again my Spanish is not great. If you try they will try. Was never a problem!!! Some mixed up food and drink orders but no big deal.Food was great with unlimited ala cartes with no reservations required. That was a real bonus. Timeshare people could be a problem but a polite "no" and they finally gave up. Rooms were fine. Rooms a bit musty but it is the tropics. What more can I say.... It was a very relaxing time away...it is a quiet resort but a great opportunity to meet new people and new friends.

It was okay.

The grounds were lovely, the washrooms in all the buildings were immaculate. The restaurants I would rate as average. Not enough variety. The service in the restaurants was good and the staff were lovely. Room service, cleaning was also good, although we had to ask several times for towels and robes, which were supposed to be included in our room. The pools were lovely. Loved it

Thoroughly enjoyed this resort. Loved that there was no limitations or reservations on ala cartes. Enjoyed all the restaurants. Staff worked very hard and were so friendly. No need to get up early and save pool or beach chairs.

Great Trip!

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon (jan 14-21). We stayed at the Catalonia Royal. The resort was very well kept and serene. We were looking for total relaxation and received just that. We were pleased with the service. We would definitely recommend this resort if you are looking for a nice time.

Very disappointed!!!

Very disappointed in this resort !!! Had to change rooms twice. Still very smelly and toilet leaked the whole stay! The beach was the biggest disappointment full of seaweed and smelled from this. The food average. I have been to several resorts in Punta Cana and never had a issue with food. Not the variety I was used too! The staff great as all folks from the DR are!!!! But they can only do so much with what they are given. Would not recommend this resort to family frien or even co workers

Is not a 5* as advertised 4* at best

This resort is not 5*. You pay 5* price but 4* at best. The all adult resort is very dated and needs a major overall. We were at the Excellence a few years ago and it was a 5* this resort should take note how it is done. The sister resort beside with children is where everything is casinio, theatre, restaurants etc. You have to walk over there all the time to do anything. And there is no map or anything telling where everything is at both resorts. Other resorts give you a newsletter everyday to  [... read more]tell you what is going on that day not this place. All adult is like a seniors retirement home. You just lay on loungers around the pool. No water sports, music or even floats to lay on in pool. Food was just o.k. nothing special. You could tell maids, bar tenders etc. worked very hard but the front desk didn't go out of there way to help, passed you on to someone else.
