Wonderful Resort

I would give this hotel 4 stars. The service is a little slow and the food was bland but the a la carts were amazing!! Staff were amazing, room and view were beautiful! Towels and water had a bad smell. The resort itself and beach were beautiful! At lot of walking. Overall, amazing experience!!! Will be going back next year!!

A wonderful time!

nice clean resort in a beautiful setting! It made us feel safe and at home.Jairus our rep at the Waterloo office made our booking so easy and helpful. We would most certainly book with him again.Just called on him I person to thank him for all his help and expressed to him our future resort bookings with him.

Great times at Memories

Ok so I was a bit worried reading the reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised. Laura Marie at the main dining room was outstanding! Our room was very clean and staff were extremely friendly. We travel a lot mainly to St Maarten, Mexico and St Lucia but with safety issues we did Cuba and again very happy for a very reasonable price. Take what you read with a grain of salt, if you want a very fun place with lots of activity and great people give it a shot.

Sun all week

Very large. 1km long. Kept nice. Watch for birds in the dining hall. Service good. Always pleasant, fresh fruit was great every meal. Didn’t go for the food. Went for the sunshine. ☀️ Beach was the best pat. Many pools to choose from.

Good resort

large resort with a beautiful beach and great pools. The staff treat you very well and like to ensure you are satisfied. The food is mediocre but they do have quite a bit of variety. Rooms are a good size.

GREAT RESORT

FOOD WAS BETTER THAN MOST IN CUBA. NIGHTLIFE IS VERY LOUD AND GOES UNTIL 130AM MIN. IT IS A PARTY ATMOSPHERE AT NIGHT. RESORT WAS WE MAINTAINED. WE HAD A RECENTLY UPGRADED ROOM WITH WAS IN GREAT SHAPE.

Beach is beautiful

A large resort with gorgeous grounds, beach and fun pool options. The rooms were not comfortable and we came across many issues at the resort(check-in problems, things offered in our room category never received, had to complain many times, etc... Seemed like the list was never-ending) .The food and drinks were good. It was our kids first trip. They had fun. We have traveled to other countries and would probably not travel to Cuba again.

Very good resort for Cuba

Food was better than other Cuban all inclusives - Japanese restaurant is fantastic They have great entertainment, however it is extremely load and goes every night until 130 am. If you enjoy this then its a great resort for you. You cannot avoid the noise it if you have a pool view room, or any room facing into the resort. We had younger kids with us, and were in the room by 10 each night and the sound of boom boom rattled through the room until 130 each night. For the extra cost of the Diamond club I don't think it was worth the cost

Fun girls trip

If you can get a good price for this property and go with an open mind you will have fun. The staff is very friendly and hard working and the beach and pools are fantastic . The downside to this hotel is the food (first time i lost weight on a vacation) and the cleanliness of the women's washrooms were absolutely horrendous. Fun girls trip however would not take my family.

Somewhat disappointed

The ground floor rooms are not very desirable, run down, half renovated, insects, mattresses bad condition (can feel the springs digging into body), shower water just lukewarm, television very bad reception, wiped up some water on floor and cloth was black.|(makes you wonder how often they actually clean them. No facecloths. Hallways are rundown, need repairs. I asked for a different room, ended up on 3rd floor that was in much better condition.(not the mattress, or tv) though. The cleani [... read more]ng lady was very friendly and made the most unique arrangements out of towels etc on my bed. And did a pretty good job of cleaning. The food was not good. Except for breads (buns, rolls, doughnuts, pastries). They have to figure out that they have a huge grill to cook lots of chicken, pork, beef, eggs, but only use a very small portion of grill and cook maybe 8 pieces at a time, while there is a lineup of 20 people waiting all the time. And hygiene is terrible, the one is using same tongs for turning cooked chicken and raw chicken. Tables are cleaned in buffet room with one cloth cleaning placemats, table , chairs, (and to clean who knows how many table with same cloth. The service in buffet was slow, and would often go up and asked for something. You got ignored a lot unless you showed them you were tipping. They were constanting running out of plates also. Staff in lobby were always helpful...also most staff were friendly at the bars, restaurants, grounds,rooms, etc., willing to help if they could. The grounds look like someone cares, the layout of resort is good, pools good, entertainment at pools decent and upbeat. The shows in the evening were very good. The beach has beautiful white sand, also good exercise classes, dances classes at both pool and beach. They just have to renovate the buildings, clean better, change mattresses,(I heard from others that were pretty upset about condition of bldgs., rooms, hygiene in buffet, etc etc). They have to get that buffet organized better, taught hygiene in buffets, public washrooms etc. Change the menu in buffet once in a while, and at busy times use the whole grill for cooking meat, so guests don't have to stand in line for half hour. I could not figure that one out. And why a resort that has that many people coming and going everyday.....??? For me the most important is upkeep and cleanliness of rooms, a good mattress, and great food.

Large Resort!

This is a very large resort that is well laid out. Very spacious as soon as you walk in. You are greeted by the friendly staff. Check in was seamless, with complimentary drinks to start off. I travelled with a couple friends, we were brought to our ‘suites’ by golf cart it that would’ve been a long walk with out luggage! Rooms were standard, with garden views. Not sure what was up with the rooms on the ground floor but I woke up with fresh bites from who knows what, bed bugs??!?? I saw other guests that got devoured worse than me, they complained & not sure what happened?? Music is upbeat, mainly top 40 & reggaeton from what I heard. Nightly entertainment went from 9:30 ish to around 12-1am. Pretty good party most night. Also, most nights got surprisingly chilly! Chilly enough for my wool toque, dress appropriately! The drinks were flowing endlessly so know your limits (or not) Why stop on vacation?!?! The beach was breathe taking, just a bit of a hike to the main lobby if you can’t find an Uber/golf cart to bring you back. It’s also where the main buffet is. The gym is sub par I guess you can’t expect much for that it is, I’m a gym-a-holic & was disappointed. Massages run between $50-100 pesos, we didn’t get around to try. Out of all the a la carte restaurants, Japan was the best & entertaining!

Old, not terrible but not nice either

Rooms were old, rusty furniture and hole in our sliding door about the size of a thick book. Had to patch it up with a grocery bag so moths stopped coming in. Otherwise besides the food everything else was great. Wish they had more events for kids. Never saw toopy and binoo and the kids play area was broken.

Great week in cuba

Memories was a great hotel for us to stay at! Rooms, lobby, pools and restaurants were always very clean. Only small issues was there was often no toilet paper in the women’s washrooms. Also on cloudy days our shower wasn’t very warm so guessing maybe it was solar heated. Food was decent for the buffet and the à la cartes were great... snack bar near pool one was a great alternative to the buffet, especially for breakfast! Memories had a great quiet pool and a separate “activity” pool  [... read more]so it was nice to be able to chose where we wanted to be. Staff was ALWAYS great... beach was always clean too

We had a great time but food was horrible.

The hotel was beautiful, big but nice. We were in building 33 which was very far from the main lobby. We had to walk 1km in the morning just to get some coffee. I would recommend bringing your own coffee and ask for a coffee machine in the room. The beach and pools were awesome, lots of entertainment during the day. The staff was amazing (especially Jenny at the main lobby bar). Only downfall was the food, it was horrible, always the same food at the buffet (morning, lunch and dinner). My husban [... read more]d got sick on day 3 with chicken (from the beach BBQ buffet). He barely ate for the rest of our staying. They really need to improve their food quality and add more variety.

Beautiful resort

The rooms need a few repairs but very clean.bath tub is high with a stool no problem. The grounds are well kept. Fantastic intertament. Dinning buffet needs the fans replaced badly.the food was either not cooked enough or to much was always cold.but you can see they try hard to please.beach was beautiful. The pools where beautiful. My big down fall was after 7 o'clock in the evening no toilet paper or paper towel to be had in any washroom you went too. And the snack bar was always running out  [... read more]of food.there is a menu but all was available was hotdogs or cheese sandwiches .this is a resort for young people and it is big so lots of walking. Did not find the people very friendly. Think it was a language problem with the other guests. No problem with the staff. Also bathrooms are very small. I think that they need to put signs up saying do not put toilet paper in tolilet

Fantastic resort

The staff at this resort are so kind !! The food at the resort was very good (better than expected) ..the nightly entertainment was very good !... only real bad thing about the resort is it is very large and there is a wait for drinks

Great resort

Great resort very clean,friendly staff ,great Japanese restaurant ,lots of beach chairs with two amazing pools 24 hour snack bar with lot’s of choices,beautiful beach amazing animation team lots of activities for all ages.

Hotel needs upgrade.

I am disappointed in the Sunwing service. I received an email alert the day before my departure letting me know the quiet pool was out of service. Departure date November 17, email notice November 16. the pool had actually been closed for two weeks. It did not reopen on the Tuesday November 20 as noted in email and was still a week away from opening after I came back November 24. I would of made other arrangements knowing this. The Sunwing Rep. was not helpful at all with checkout information,  [... read more]actually was lying or totally misinformed, she did not offer extended check out or shower options for early check out, I found out more info from passengers than the actual Rep. The room did not have garden view as promised and the hotel had to change the mattress and fix the toilet. The rooms was very old and in need of repair. I am a repeat Sunwing and Memories customer (6 times at Memories) and was totally turned off by the Rep at the hotel. My duty free pre-order on the plane was not available on the plane on my return trip and am now trying to make arrangements for refund, another time consuming task. I will need to seriously question Sunwing's ability for future trips. I travel about 5 months of the year and this is my first direct complaint to an airline or hotel.

Great resort

The resort was very beautifully maintained and everything on ground was tip top. The food was good, repetitive, but lacked the 4 star service that you would expect. Most of the week we had to serve our own coffee at the buffet and our own drinks at the machines. But the Beach was beautiful, always upkept and lots of space and lots of chairs. Bars were always stocked with great service and great drinks. The people on the resort are extremely friendly and there is always lots to do. There are lots of possibilities and arguably this resort could pass for a 5 star if the buffet service was upgraded and the people served you in the ways you would expect; also if all buildings for rooms were upgraded as well. The room we stayed in was upgraded and very nicely kept. This was in building 24, highly recommend requesting this building as I do recall seeing some other buildings still outdated. Overall the resort was amazing and worth every penny, we did enjoy our 7 night stay.

Amazing TIme

Just got Back from an amazing week away. The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms need to be updated a bit. Staff were amazing for the entire week From the maids to the bartenders and servers, and can not forget the entertainers who put on performances everywhere in the resort. Weather was excellent and the beach is what you go on vacation for in Cuba.
