Clean and Quiet Resort

We visited Ocean Coral at the beginning of February for 7 days. The resort is really close to the airport (about 20 minutes) which was a big selling feature for us. Here are a few other reasons we enjoyed our stay: -rooms, restaurants and grounds were immaculate - large selection of food to choose from - no matter where you are, you are close to the beach - the view from the Privilege restaurant for breakfast was beautiful! - we were quite close to Puerto Morelos for shopping - excellent [... read more] room service which is included with Privilege - really enjoyed the Creperie -very impressed with the wifi performance from the hotel right to the beach!! Some things we did not like: - the relentless sales approach for their time share. They will tell you it is not time share...but it is! Their "free shopping excursion" and "special breakfast" is simply another sales tactic. It was not worth us losing a day away for a sales pitch. - while the staff cleaning the beach of sargussum our first few days was diligent, they became neglectful midway into the trip All and all this was a lovely belated honeymoon. We experienced good and bad service (to be expected) This is a solid 4 star resort. As a side note, we had the most amazing agent we have ever come across! Thank you Jill Klacza for your patience and help with planning and booking our trip!

Okay resort but would not return

Pools are nice beach ok but lots of seaweed. Biggest problem is trying to go to alacart restaurant's they tell you that you have to wait up 2 hours to get in or not available at all then suggest you go to the buffet which is not the greatest. Rooms are dated and could use some work.The other problem is getting pool chairs need to be up at 6am to get a good spot all chairs are gone by 7:30. Excellent resort!

Great size resort to get around with only 500+ rooms, no need for a shuttle. The staff is friendly and hard working. All common spaces were well maintained and the rooms were nicely laid out and a great size. Excellent kids club/pool area and only steps to the beach. Really good food at the buffet. The a la carte restaurants were good nice for the experience, but the buffet food was better quality. I would return to this resort for sure!

Relaxing and laid back resort

A friend and I stayed at OCT for a week. At the advice of my travel agent, we did not upgrade to ‘Privilege’. The room and resort on a whole were quite clean. We did not have trouble getting into any of the a la carte restaurants since we ate early and were there for 6 pm or shortly after. We especially enjoyed our dinner at Terraza D’Italia, Luis Trevino was an excellent host. The steak and veal were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed eating at Sensai. WiFi was great throughout the res [... read more]ort, even by the pools and was complimentary which I hear is a bonus since a friend stayed at another resort nearby the same week and had to pay $30 USD for three days for spotty WiFi. The only suggestion I have is that the public washrooms near the pools be renovated to a bit larger cubicles, they were narrow and awkward. They could have been cleaned a little more frequently during peak hours of use.

Was O.K.

Definitely not 5*. We stayed for 2 weeks from January 17 to 31. Personal was very friendly. The most we like beach server Jemima she was very friendly funny & fast the best. But on 3 day staying there I got salmonella poisoning eating salad with peace of chicken eating in beach restaurant.Thanks to my friend Anna having god medicine after 24 hours I was better.We all enjoyed Grease show the angel was fabulous.

Very nice resort

Everyone works hard to keep everything clean. Staff is pleasant and helpful. It's a very beautiful resort with lots of pools. The one thing I didn't agree with was the fact that our friends upgrated to a privilege package when they arrived as one was not available at the time of booking. My husband and i were able to get the privilege package when we booked but there was none left for our friends. It was understood that they would not be able to get a privilege room but they would get all  [... read more]of the privilege access. Well that isn't so. They did not get the lobster dinner coupon, when asked they said it wasn't part of it. they also didn't qualify for the sauna,pool and hot tub i n the spa area. They asked to have their room stocked with alcohol like every other privilege guest, but they were also turned down. They paid what any other privilege guest paid but the only benefit they seem to have received was a cute bracelet and access to the privilege lounge and premium alcohol at the bar. I felt they did not receive fair treatment for the extra fee they paid. The hotel should honor the full privilege package (except for the room) if this was the agreement.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa

I thought the hotel was very up to date, comfortable and friendly. I realize it is not the newest hotel in the area however I thought it would then have more ambiance and I was primarily very happy with my decision. The hotel however should update their beach chairs and their chairs around the swimming pool. I was down at the ocean beach most of the time and the chairs were rather uncomfortable and heavy to move around and low to the ground. Very nice resort!

Grounds, pools and beach were beautiful. Really liked the three pools with kids at one side and "party" pool at the other. Rooms a bit dated but not terrible. Staff were friendly and helpful but getting your room cleaned/restocked could be dicey at times. All in all a great place.

Great Time at Ocean Coral

We loved our stay at OCT! Very kid friendly with a lot activities and toys. Pools were nice. Beach was beautiful with seaweed cleaned out regularly. Buffet had nice variety. Loved the outdoor Italian a la carte (steak and tortellini were SOO good). Friendly staff. Our son had to see Dr. Diaz at the resort’s clinic and he was very helpful and attentive. He even came to our room to check on us. We’ve been to a number of resorts and this one did not disappoint. GREAT VACATION

MY SPOUSE AND I HAD AN AMAZING VACATION. THIS RESORT IS NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL, BUT VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND GREAT STAFF. THEY ARE RESPECTFUL, KIND, VERY WELCOMING,GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE THEIR SHOW/PERFORMANCE "GREASE''. IT IS WELL WORTH IT. THE A LA CARTE DINNERS ARE DELICIOUS AND THE BUFFET. ONLY THING THAT WOULD NEED IMPROVEMENT IS THE HOUSEKEEPING. THANKS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE RELAXING TRIP.

Great family resort!

We had a great time at the resort, there was lots to do and plenty for the kids! The weather was beautiful and the Ocean was great most days, a few days we had a bit more seaweed if the wind had picked up. Otherwise, it was calm and clear :) The food was not great but not bad! Unfortunately, with an 8 month old it is not easy to do the a la Carte because her bed time is so early. Because you cannot make reservations we would only end up being able to eat later at night which did not work for our little one. I would end up having to leave early completely or walk her around and come back to my cold meal. If you have older kids or are going with adults than I highly suggest doing the a la cart instead of the buffet. We also went to the Mexican and Route 66 a la carte which were great! The teppanyaki was okay, not great compared to other resorts we have been to. Service on the resort was great, everyone was very friendly! Wait, not everyone. The front desk was horrible lol never picked up the phone and we had issues with our thermostat, leaving our room very cold at night. They would keep telling us they were coming but didn’t. Same with our bed situation they said they would fix and didn’t until the 4th night. I am a firm believer of the phrase “kill em with kindness” but apparently in this case we had to get pretty upset before they did anything lol The pools were also great (all three) We all enjoyed them including the kids :)

Amazing place!!

Travelled to this resort in Jan 2020 with 8 adults and 5 children ages from 8 months to 8 years. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this resort was!! Rooms were beautiful and clean. Grounds were well kept and clean. Multiple pools also impeccably clean. Kids water park was great. Buffet was good to very good. Restaurants were great. Staff were all so friendly and service was great. Beach was quite nice although some have said seaweed can get bad; we didn’t have any issues the week we w [... read more]ere there. Sand is so soft and water was pretty calm. I would definitely go back.

Clean hotel, food good not exceptional

Staff - very friendly One day there was construction in morning and it disturbed our sleep. This went on for a few hours Bell servers very accommodating - Carlos provided exceptional service did not go on any excursions but did visit Playa delCarmen for a few hours. the food was better outside of the hotel

Beautiful resort

This resort is smaller but has great food, the best service ( thanks Poncho for making our day start off with your smile and serving us breakfast) and I can't say enough about how clean it is. We will go back again and would recommend for families or just a couple.

Awesome resort!

I Really enjoyed this resort. The food was awesome at all of the restaurants, the sensai restaurant was my favourite. The beach always had chairs. The entertainment was really great to watch. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was so helpful!

Great hotel, but dont nickel and dime me on the way out

Pros: Has 4 pools. All of the staff were super helpful and friendly. Food is great if you get there when the buffet opens. If you get there at the end, all the good food has gone. Price was great. Rooms are a little dated, but who is really hanging out in their room at a resort. Provided lots of entertainment if you are in to that sort of thing. Cons: If you want late check out, they want $10usd per hour over late checkout. Why nickel and dime me, when I just spent money to stay at [... read more] your all inclusive place. Obviously I chose all inclusive so I wouldn't be nickel and dimed. Seriously. $10usd per hour isn't going change your revenue much, but it surely buys you a lower review. Knocked a couple of stars off of my review.

Amazing family resort

Overall this resort is very good. It is big yet very accessible. The food is delicious. The pools are spacious and clean. The service is 5 star. Safe and secure. The beach is good, although they have the occasional days with seaweed problem, they are working non stop to clean it.

Nice Resort

Nice variety of restaurants but only the Japanese takes reservations. The rest are first come, first serve so may need to wait 1-2 hrs for table, or opt for buffet. Disappointing beach. We had windy days that brought in large amounts of seaweed that wasn’t always removed. Other resorts along beach had much less or kept up with removing it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very relaxing stay

Our two weeks in December are over. We enjoyed every minute . The staff were attentive and friendly . The food was great . The seven a la carte restaurants provided a great choice . We enjoyed them all. We especially enjoyed walking the beach to the village of Puerto Morales a few times. Next year we plan to return for a week with our seven year old granddaughter . The kids Daisy Club is highly recommended by families we met.

Many positive things about this resort

The hotel was beautiful. The beach was great. We had 3 days with alot of sea weed coming in, the resort had workers removing it all day. It was nice to see that they were on top of it. Food was good and rooms were wonderful. Had only 2 things that I did not like overall. I found that the resort was pushing (time share) you to attend a welcome meeting. We were approached 6 times during our 10 day stay. Did not enjoy that. Also their boutique was very expensive. There was no store to just buy tour [... read more]ist stuff at all or snacks. A sun dress was $69 USD at home I would pay about $25 Canadian. Not for me! Again the resort itself was wonderful as were the maids, bar staff and restaurant staff. The grounds were well maintained as well. Resort was abit remote from towns, for shopping.
