Amazing Resort

The location at first seemed a bit strange however when I saw the resort it was beautiful and very welcoming. The staff was amazing in every way, they were all very kind and helpful. I had my niece and nephew with me and the staff treated us like family, anything we needed was provided to us. The one problem I had was with the WIFI the kids were not able to use their devices. Due to heavy winds I didn’t use the beach at the resort as often but the view from my room was breathtaking. I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely visit again.

NO!minican

Wow where do I start! This is a resort that I would never return too, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. We arrived and were given an envelope with our room key, towel pass, and remote for the tv...We went into our room and were immediately disguised. The view was of an abandoned building, the bathroom was gross, dead bug on wall, fake nails under bed (I wished I never looked under the bed) exposed outlets, only one outlet worked...phone didn't work, and so on! SURPRISE...NO You need to pay for internet that they do not guarantee that it works everywhere, you also need to pay for a safe. So in the rain we went to the front desk (I must say that is also a joke, and they love saying NO) to inquire about changing our room, internet and the safe. Upon arrival we were told to come back in an hour so they can process the guests, so we did about 1 1/2 later and they still didn't want to help. So next day all over again with this process, with NO luck. Emailed Tripcentral (but I never got a response, they emailed the girl I was travelling with?) I sent a text to tripassist, and was told a representative would get in touch with me, and nothing. Went to Transat rep on site on three separate occasions and he was less than helpfull, and said we should talk to John the Front Desk Manager...And he was the rudest person that didn't care what we wanted, he just wanted us to give him more money!!!. The person I was travelling with sent an email to tripcentral and was responded too by our rep... Finally the Transat rep changed and we had the regular one who listened and said that he would go talk to John at the front desk. On the third day after wasting so much of our vacation we finally got a renovated room! Much better but does not make up for the vacation from hell, no apologies, no lets make it up to you and send you on an excursion or anything. So the staff...The nicest people we meet were part of the entertainment (Think that was because they wanted us to order them drinks at the bar and give to them) I asked for mojito - NO A glass for my Martini - NO (they were disgusting..FYI) A bottle of water at the bar - NO - you need to drink water that is in a large container! Buffet was Meh, no flavor, ,meals are always the same..Not very good We were not allowed to swim in the Ocean due to the yellow, and red flags up (the whole trip!) The staff is rude, not helpful, and you need to get your own drinks at the buffet if you want one before your meal is done. This is not a 3.5 star at all! Don't get me wrong the views can be beautiful, but this not a vacation spot! Oh and what was beyond acceptable was the staff when not working hanging out in the pools and bars (and usually get served first) And lots of locals walking in and out of the resort! Disappointed and blown away by an overall horrible vacation We went into town daily to get free wifi at restaurants, and have edible food with some flavor.

Beautiful Land - Terrible Service

The landscape of this resort is absolutely stunning. However, that is dulled once you start having to deal with the resort personnel. A majority of the staff was rude, condescending and arrogant. Our housekeepers were nice, but not quick, sometimes not even having our beds made despite our generous gifts & tips. Most of the front desk staff, especially the "Rooms Manager" John, were rude. Our room was disgusting, dead bugs on the wall, lots of mold & mildew in the bathroom, exposed electric [... read more]al outlets, fake finger nails under the bed, no security. When we asked to change rooms, it took 2 days of phone calls and follow ups with our Air Transat rep and travel agent to deal with the hotel manager, who finally gave in and gave us a renovated room. The bar staff again, was not friendly, despite the generous tips. The young staff live on the resort & are allowed to have friends come in so there is a lot of younger people hanging out at the bars & taking over the pools. Overall, a disappointing vacation. If you book here, make sure you know exactly what you are getting for your money, since John's famous line was "you got what you paid for!".

Great Resort

We arrived on March 20th around 2:00 we were shown right to our rooms.room was ok not like in the pictures but was very clean. The food was amazing,roast chicken ,ham, roasts all kinds of salad and veggies.Entertainment was so so. Drinks okay.Be careful when going to the beaches they are public so watch your stuff ,water is very ruff,we stuck to the pools.enjoyed our stay will go back when they improve the lobby,maybe bigger nicer with a coffee bar and a alcohol bar over all nice resort.

Amazing time!

I recently went with my family (husband and two kids age 2 and 4 months) and it was a great trip!! The staff were always so welcoming and so happy to see us and the kids just adored them all! The food was amazing and each night had something different to offer! The buffet has the view of the ocean which could not be beat! The pool was always clean and always had a chair available to lounge on! We had a room booked that was garden view but we got a pool view instead which walked out right to the [... read more] pool which was fantastic since my kids are so young! They had a show every night and both kids and adult games through the days both at the pool and the beach. The bartenders always remember your order and made great drinks! The room was simple and could use some pictures on the walls but for what you pay and for how beautiful you the resort was we didn't really care! They were cleaned every day and the maid service was great for leaving us extra water to make bottles. I'd definitely recommend them and we will definitely return again!

Excellent week at casa marina reef

All in all was a great place to stay. Beach was closed for couple days due to high waves which were amazing to watch. Pools made up for lost days. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. Unless your super picky there was a great selection of food and drinks. Bars are under staffed but flora was amazing server. Rooms although they advertise as renovated I would still rate a 3. Mattresses dirty. We had mold on bathroom ceiling. All in all was a good holiday. Paradise island is a must if you  [... read more]go. I would never book through trip central again. We were drastically overcharged and lied to about availability at this resort. We paid double and to by trip central nothing they could do.

Just like 12 yrs ago and better

I’ve been to this resort 3 times now. Last was 12 years ago. I liked seeing the new improvements, such as the bars and the nice new Buffett building. We stayed at the Reef side, but if we come again, will see about the Beach side again. We arrived late on March 6th due to the rough seas had flooded the airport. So we lost much of the first day. Surprised

This resort exceeded our expectations,we new it was a three star resort but upon our arrival and once past the front lobby the grounds were absolutely beautiful. We had requested the renovated garden view room and ended up with a view of the ocean was well worth the upgrade. The staff were amazing always friendly the bartenders tried their best to serve people in order which sure doesn’t happen at a lot of five stars we have stayed at. The resort was quiet at night,perfect for a good nights sleep after a full day of sun drinks and food, in the week we were there we only saw one person that had a little too much to drink. The only thing that was anoying were the Lifestyle sales people and the vendors that set up in front of the buffet Wednesday and Thursday night. We left the resort and walked into Sosua two days which was a nice break and stopped at the Jolley Roger for drinks and sandwich and then to Silhouette for a cigar and endless coffee. Overall it was a great week and will likely return to the Cassa Marine Reef resort. Oh an added note they actually take soap and scrub brush and clean the lounge chairs something I have never seen at any five star resort.

Good Resort

Over all my husband and I enjoyed the resort it was very clean and all the staff there very courteous and helpful. The only issue that we had was we asked for the second floor and was put on the ground floor and we had constant water coming through the floor in our bathroom.

Fabulous time once again.

We love the Casa Marina. It's relaxing for us and the weather is almost perfect most of the time. Renovations are great. Can't control waves or beach damage at times, but overall, we can't wait to go back next February for another 2 weeks. The staff is great too - especially the Entertainment gals and guys. Never a dull moment. You can't do better than this on a budget.

Can’t wait to go back!!!

I booked this vacation last minute and was going off of trip advisor reviews which were mostly positive. All I can say is “Wow!!!” The resort is beautiful, the staff is fantastic. Our room was great, clean and simple. We are looking to go back ASAP. It’s our new favourite place ❤️❤️❤️

Sunset pools are to die for

What we liked: The beaches and views were stunning. our air transat rep (Alberto) in the resort was amazing! it rained but only for 15 minute snippets everyday. The location is incredible, right y sousa beach, the distance from the airport is only 15-20 minutes, close to many of the excursions, and it was a very reasonable price. We spent every night watching the sunset, in one of the 3 sunset pools, absoutely breathtaking. Few things we didnt like: They took our shower towels early every da [... read more]y and usually forgot to bring them back. our phone broke and they wouldnt fix it so everytime there was a problem i had to go down and wait in a line instead of being able to call.(first world problems i know). The food was hit or miss, even at the el a cartes you have to wave down the servers to get any service. The drinks had to much alcohol in them that they were sooo far from enjoyable, the bars were understaffed as there was only 3 so they were ALWAYS busy, usually with 1 crappy bartender. All in all it was a good trip and we will definetly be back to dominican soon.

Great Resort With Very Poor Service from Front Desk Staff.

Resort is very conveniently located in the town of Sosua. Beach and pools are are nice and clean. All three Ala Carte Restaurant are not worth the time you have to spend lining up to get reservations. Food is lousy and tastes no where close to the type of restaurant they are named for. During our stay there was no telephone service in the room and the excuse was that there was problem with the network in the area but their own phone system was working well. So if you want to get something fixed or attended to in the room you are forced to walk to the front desk which sometimes is hard to do due to weather and the size of resort and location of your room. Even then consider yourself lucky if you get any service. We had a slow draining bath tub and we complained about it every day for 5 days but it never got fixed. There people at the front desk take down your room number on a loose piece of paper and want you to believe that they are serious and will get the thing fixed. But it never happened. I reported it to 3 different staff members on 5 different days and finally gave up when one of them told me that it was fixed in last one hour whereas I was in my room for an hour before I walked to the front desk. Only good thing at this place is the one restaurant where you go for breakfast lunch and dinner. Place is clean ,service is good, view is excellent and food is not bad. If you have a choice avoid going to this resort spend some more money and stay at some other resort. Believe me nothing will be worse than this resort.

Better than I expected for a 3 star!

Very clean resort, friendly helpful staff, great food. The nightly entertainment was great too! The beaches were clean with lots of lounge chairs. Plenty of excursions for those who wanted them. Easy access to local shopping and never hassled like in some places.

Wonderful place to relax!

We have been to this resort five times now and are planning a sixth. We love the lay out, the cold pools and it is close to many restaurants and shops. The renovations are quite nice as well! I noticed a few new items in the buffets as well. The grounds are very well kept. The activities around the pool are quite interesting to observe and fun for any one who wants to participate. Overall, once again, it was a great vacation!

Nice Hotel

It was a pleasure stay there, good beach and pool, food was delicious and rooms was very good, we stayed in a renovated one. Just to remark need more staff in the Restaurant and Bars. we went outside for shopping also to the public beach. we ate fresh seafood, was fantastic and safe. of course people trying to sell things.

Good resort for price

This was our second visit to this resort, still good value for your money. We traveled with a group of seven unfortunately six of the seven were sick for a day can' t say for sure whether it was the food or drink we had lots of both. Good doon buggy tour into the outback,. Day of return was a nightmare , we where to check out of our room at 1 and where told there would be a room available to change into our travel home clothes, went up to hotel lobby for room, at 4 and was told nothing availab [... read more]le we would have to wait, that was okay we had time , staff came back 10 min later said there was a room available , my partner is handicapped, the room was on 3rd floor no elevators there, said they would look for something else, waited an hour they never came back. We ended changing out of our wet bathing suits in the hotel lobby bathroom. Grounds are well kepted, foods okay, don't expect much from this resort. Stay was okay but because of the miserable check out situation would never go back

Amazing resort

I found that resort has had many renovations which are very nice but staff are overworked and are not as able to friendly service to visit er as they were able to last year.last year it was nice for staff to have a minute or two to speak with visiters like to know a bit about there family's and lifestyles.

Average Resort

The front lobby is old and unappealing but the resort behind it is much better. There have been a lot of renovations but there are a substantial amount of rooms to be refurbished yet. The buffet was excellent but the a la carte restaurants did not measure up. Our phone never did get hooked up for the entire week even though we told them everyday. There was no Wifi in the rooms just in certain areas around the bars and snackbars. This we found out after paying 27 US for internet. The beach and pools were great and the staff very friendly. I got my monies worth but will go to a better class hoetel next time.

Comfortable small resort

This was a nice resort for the money. The grounds were well maintained and the rooms were clean. The food was as to be expected I liked the idea that in the buffet restaurant they had an enclosed area for the food so no problem with flies or birds. They do have a problem with washrooms in the grill area but there were others available and also not far to go to your room if necessary, The lobby is very small and they do not have a bar in that area so if you want a drink you had to go beyond th [... read more]e pool area. The staff at front desk area could use some training in customer service. We had to check out by one o'clock but were assured that we would be provided with a room to shower and dress before we were to leave resort at 8:25 p.m. so we arrived at front desk area at 5:00 p.m. and were offered a room on 3rd floor which was not doable because two of us were handicapped and could not do stairs. This was unacceptable and we waited for almost an hour for them to get another room that would be manageable. Apparently it must have been quitting time and the 3 young ladies left . A new bus load of people arrived and we were forgotten about. As a result we ended up having to change clothes in a washroom. Apparently after you have checked out they don't care anymore you just have to fend for yourself. It would have been nice if they had offered to let us have a later checkout.
