Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: OK resort - great location, great beach

We were in Block 2 in an oceanview room - the room furnishings had not been updated but it was very clean and comfortable with Air Condioning, a mini fridge, an electronic safe, electronic key card entry, bathroom with shower ony and small bottles of shampoo, conditiner and lotion along with small bars of soap provided. They also provided one large bottle of water daily and if we happened to see the maid in the hall she was happy to gie us another. The a-la-carte restaurants were all very good, we tried the Japanese, Thai, Mexican and Italian. We did not find the cocktail list to be quite to our liking so stuck with beer, wine and sangria. My only caution is this - security will go and remove all of your belongings from the lounge chairs if someone is looking for a spot and you have been "gone too long".... how long is too long? who decides?? this is the problem.... we told security that the people who were beside us on the beach one day had just gone for lunch, but he either did not understand or did not care- scooped up all their things and when they came back from lunch they no longer had a spot... not really my kind of vacation vibe - why dont they just get more chairs?

Crown Paradise Golden: A solid 3 out of 5

It was an overall good experience. The staff were top tier, all over. They were all so friendly and nice and the bartenders never missed a beat and the omelette girl and the lunch shack girl especially worked their butts off in the blistering heat. The rooms were pretty nice and our bed got made every day, we got new towels and our fridge stocked. The pool was nice and when the entertainers showed up they were always awesome. A couple complaints I had. 1. You advertise Domestic and imported [... read more] beers yet all you had was Cervesas everywhere. 2. We asked twice for a hair dryer and didn't get one. We also had no hot water a couple days (boiler issue I imagine, stuff happens, whatever.) 3. The reservation system for the a la carts were horrible. They would be immediately all filled up 2 minutes after 9 am because they only allow like 3 tables per time slot. You can also only ever reserve for 2 people so you never get to eat with your friends. 4. What's with hiding and portioning the bacon? It's a buffet.. 5. Sometimes the daily pool activities just wouldn't get done, that was kind of a bummer. All in all I had a fantastic week and would go here again but it didn't "blow me away".

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great location

Hotels showing its age but grounds are beautifully maintained, staff are wonderful, premises immaculate, beautiful beach. Preferred the colours they used to have - beige is so boring. We keep going back because of the location, the ability to walk beyond the resort in safety. Food is mediocre but you will always find something. Many restaurants, bars within walking distance so eating out is a bonus.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Very Solid Resort

My wife and I have been to Mexico for 17 trips in total to a wide variety of areas, resort could use a freshening up but food was good, rooms were decent, mini bar was stocked, bed was hard as a rock LOL. Pools and grounds were kept in great shape, and the layout with respect to the beach was ideal. Beach is beautiful and we watched whales almost everyday. Good bars, name brand alcohol, superbowl party was awesome.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Average unfortunately

We have been going to this resort since 2009 , this being our 8th visit . We were sad to learn it is no longer family owned and now belongs to corporate, and you can definitely tell! The Al a carte restaurants are down to 2 from 5 , poor food quality and choice compared to the past ! The tiles are broken in the pools etc , the furniture ( fridges, dressers, couches etc) have been removed from the rooms . The gardens are not maintained as they once were ! Used to be amazing and now average

Plaza Pelicanos Club: Decent value. Recommend.

A nice cheaper and cheerful all-inclusive in the hotel zone. Recommend? Sure! Food: Buffet was ok. Hot and a passable variety. Omelette and egg station. Nice Mexican buffet poolside on Saturdays. Con: only one specialty restaurant (Italian), and you need to reserve at the buffet entrance when it opens at seven am on the same day that you wish to have your reservation. Tried it, once. That was enough. Staff: Great folks all around, from restaurant and bar, to front desk, to housekeeping [... read more]. Pools and beach: Nice family pool in main area, as well as another at the beach club. BOTH had swim up bars. Fairly good access to loungers as long as you didn't wander in late morning. Bars: In addition to the swim up bars, which close a little early, there are two additional bars. One is open til 1am, cuz who stops drinking at seven? I found the drinks tasty, as opposed to some other value resorts where they can taste a little "fake." Location: Hotel zone. Access to the beach at your resort, and city bus or taxi if you want to go downtown. I walked and it took 45 minutes to an hour. If you are a walker, you could cross the street to the Versalles neighborhood and explore some restaurants. Rooms: mine was dated but in good repaiir. Clean, and good housekeeping service. SURPRINGLY COMFORTABLE BED! Recommend? Sure! You get what you pay for. No fancy water features or multiple top drawer specialty restaurants, but warm sun, good people, and you won't starve.

Dreams Bahia Mita Surf and Spa: Fabulous Resort

Fantastic choices on the buffets, excellent restaurants, and great food all around. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly across the entire resort. We rented one of the private cabanas and enjoyed an incredible day in our own little oasis. We watched the whales offshore all day too. It was apparently their mating season and there so many of them! The rooms were large and very spacious too. Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Beautiful beach

We loved the resort for the location and the amazing food We had issues with our room but were moved 2nd day I would not recommend this resort if looking for fun or activities or music There no seating or music in front lobby bar No entertainment or music in evenings Families would enjoy for large pool

Delta Hotels Riviera Nayarit: Amazing Resort

This resort is located about 40 mins North of Puerto Vallarta. Nestled in the mountains it has lots of fauna to shade you from the sun. It doesn’t have a beach but does offer a shuttle to the beach where the resort has a section on the beach with a full pavilion and restaurant. The resort never felt busy, lots of pool options to sit by and watch the reptiles climbing trees. Food is very good and staff were extremely friendly. Can’t wait to return to this resort.

Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta: Great Beach!

The food and the service for the most part was good, the Room was pretty small and very dated. We came to find out the resort will be closing for some MUCH needed renovations. As I said , the food was quite good and the service was also vert good. Entertainment was top notch, the entertainment team was everywhere and the nightly shows were pretty darn.....entertaining!

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Very Nice Resort

This Resort is about 30 minutes from PV on quiet bay. Resort beautiful. Pools lovely. Especially the adult pool. Beach not so good. Only other issue was standing in libe every morning to book reservations for restaurants. Even if first in line could only get 8 pm supper. Premium were able to book ahead. Food was good as well as the service. It would be nice if they had early evening entertainment.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Disappointing Resort

Unfortunately this is not a 4 or 4+ stars resort. First there is a new hotel being built right beside the hotel - so it was loud during the day when construction was being done. Nothing was mentioned about this prior to booking. Our view was of construction. As well it appears the hotel is under renovation. Again no mention of this before travel. The lobby was filled with old couches and walled off where there is renovations going on. On Thursday, construction workers were tearing down walls u [... read more]p until at least 10 pm near the lobby bar - it was so loud. The rest of the week also saw construction being done in the lobby area which was loud and smelly. The food was okay but the buffet was limited. As a vegetarian I was hard pressed to find something to eat for a main. The staff around the pool and in the restaurants were great so no complaints there. The room was outdated but clean. There were challenges getting chairs by the pool and you had to be there by before 8 am to get a chair. Overall disappointing and would not recommend this resort.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Great value at this resort close to Airport and shopping

The Friendly Fun Vallarta is a smaller resort with not too much walking required to get from your room to the buffet or pool - perfect for me with a bad knee. I had the very best room that I have ever had at any Caribbean/Mexican resort. It was very clean, had daily maid service, was spacious and had a direct view of the ocean. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a beautiful main street just 10 minutes from the airport and close to a very large indoor mall with a large grocery store. The lobby had a nice coffee shop and bar and they played the hockey games for us Canadians. It was filled with a cool breeze all day. Weather was perfect. If I had two complaints, I would ask for more lactose free food options and more shade on the beach. The beach loungers were crowded so close together that you couldn't put a leg in between them. Great pool side and beach service. All in all we had a great time and for the money, it was extremely good value. One more thing - I felt completely safe on the resort and walking down the main street.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: We love this resort

This is our fifth time at this resort. Each time there is something new. Its an older resort but it is kept up and very clean. Because the resort is on the smaller side, you get to know the Friendly staff. The food is good and the location right on the beach is perfect.

Marival Emotions Resort and Suites Riviera Nayarit: Great resort for multi-generation family vacation

We enjoyed our week here. Grandkids loved the pools, playground, mini-putt course and air hockey at the teen club. Beach is magnificent for walking. Usually found available lounges under the palapas, and staff would set up umbrellas no problem. Food was varied and excellent. Disappointed that there was no availability at the Italian or Asian restaurants anytime that week, but the buffet had lots to offer and we also got into La Pergola for dinner. The only real wrinkle of the stay was upon arrival, when we checked in at the front desk and were subsequently directed into an ambush by a guy pushing us to buy a vacation unit. This was mid-afternoon and we had been up since 3a.m., so not in the mood for that. But, apparently, we weren’t getting our resort wristbands until we heard him out. Surely the hotel can save the pitch for guests who actually express an interest.

Samba Vallarta: Surprising

First impression was not very good, The hôtel is old and not renovated. The front desk appears not very welcoming at first. But the first few hours at the pool changed our mind. Very friendly staff. Everyone was happy to serve us. Spoke with other guest who also had the same impression as us. Very clean. Buffet was very good with a lot of choices.

Samba Vallarta: Surprising

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Nice all round Experience

This was our second stay with Grand Decameron in Bucerias. We were a little surprised when the vibrant building colors from last year were more muted this year. Again, we booked into an adults-centric block of 5 or 6. That was good for our requirements, and we could wander over to the other Blocks and Pools for a more lively and upbeat ambience. The rooms in Block 6 seemed more refreshed than last year. Maid service was prompt and friendly. The bar lady at Block 6 was excellent, cheerful [... read more] and willing to play along with peoples' attempts at speaking Spanish. The ala carte restos were generally good. However JAP JAP resto had each of the courses served looking suspiciously like the previous course. We actually saw 2 tables leave after the second course and went to dine elsewhere. This year, being able to book the ala carte restos online was a welcome upgrade. However for our last two days onsite, our registration mysteriously disappeared from the reservation system, so we had to resort to the old standard standing in line for making your restaurant reservation. All in all, we would definitely consider coming back here.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Not so good

Flys in bathroom they never dealt with , safe would not work -door lock broke - had to ask for towels and face cloths for the room .getting a lounger around the pool was impossible as people were reserving them the night before . Food was ok pretty mundane tho - couldn't get an ala carte as people were reserving them at 4am - drinks were watered down the kaluha tasted like watered down vanilla- rooms are very dated need renovation for sure

Plaza Pelicanos Club: There's a twist you should know first.

There are 3 resorts in a row. Two with similar names on each side of one, (Sunset?) which is currently under renovation and expansion. Plaza Pelicanos Grand and Plaza Pelicanos Beach Club are NOT the same. PP Beach Club will be demolished to continue the expansion of the middle resort. This background is important to understand in this review. PP Beach Club has a beautiful location with 2 pools. One pool is beside the beach and has a bar, snack bar, and area for shows. The rooms, another [... read more] pool and diningroom are across a street from the beach/other pool area. Because this section of the resort will be torn down, the maintenance is subpar. Light fixtures are literally not attached to the wall, bulbs are burnt out, shower sprays over entire bathroom, and air conditioning is set at cold (no matter the setting). I'm not joking when i say i slept in my winter coat! There is no lockbox for valuabes in the room unless you ask to have it installed for your stay. The food was horrible. If you're coming to Mexico for the food, look elsewhere. Drinks were fine, pool area by the beach was very nice but the snack bar was also not good. Hamburgers and hotdogs and fries. Rarely even tortilla chips... that's a staple in my opinion. If you get a great price, it might be worth it for location alone but if you have expectations of the basic Mexican resort experience, you will be disappointed.
