Nice Beach!

The staff were, almost without exception, very friendly and helpful. The beach itself is excellent even if the chairs are not particularly comfortable. Certainly can't complain about the sun and the weather! That said, it would be very helpful if there was signage in the buffet, many of the items were very difficult to identify and if I don't know what it is, I don't want to eat it. The chairs in the lobby need replacing - most are sagging. Some sort of instruction package in the rooms would be helpful - list of relevant extensions, how to adjust a/c etc.. Given the vast majority of guests are Canadian, why have CNN and ESPN as TV channels? Why not CBC or CTV news channels and TSN for sports? Cayo Coco is very isolated from mainland Cuba and there is little to do beyond a few basic excursions, bicycle rentals would have been great, info on kayak, paddle boat and sailboat rentals should be in the rooms. Why isn't the gym open? Would be nice to have enough light in the rooms so that we could read. If I did recommend this resort to anyone, I would suggest a maximum stay of no more than 1 week!

Solid Resort

Despite the recent Hurricane damage, very good progress has been made on repairing the resort and grounds. Rooms were spacious and clean. Food quality has dramatically improved since the last time we stayed at this resort. Weather, pools and beach were amazing as usual and the rum punch is the best in Cuba! Resort staff were also very friendly and helpful. This is a great resort and offers value for money which would be hard to beat!

Work in progress

I felt this was a 3 star location without the damage. The rooms were rough but clean. The pools were well maintained and in good shape but had broken tiles around the edges that were not a tough fix but no effort made to repair them. The entertainment through the day lacked inventiveness and the participation was poor as it was the same format/presentation each time. The evening shows were well done but the volume of the music and pa system might be considered dangerous to the hearing. I wear he [... read more]aring aides and had to remove them when watching the shows and it was still too load some people actually had their fingers in their ears at times. The food was good quality for the most but was the same everyday. The Ala Carte was great and the staff there were great. The site it self was still being repaired after the storm and the ground showed the damage and the attempts at repair. The beach was under construction while we were there and return clients said was far better than before the damage. I cannot say that we did not enjoy our stay but not likely to return in the near future. Perhaps when the reno's are completed and there is time to put things back together it may be a better place.

Iberostar Mojito

The hotel service was very poor and workers there didn't wanna help you out at all. This is the worst hotel I have been at in CAYO COCO Washrooms in room smelt like sewage was backing up into the rooms. Resort was very poorly maintained and there was no one really to talk to either from the resort or from Hola Sun. Also we left some things on my back porch and it went missing. I've been to cayo coco 7 years in a row I've been to several iberostars in cuba but this was one of the worst. Also the buffet was the same everyday. Normally every other day buffets would be different but not at MOJITO.

Amazing!

Amazing service. Despite the devastation from the hurricane, they are doing amazingly well restoring and making the buildings and grounds better. I have heard so many negatives report on the food in Cuba but found this place really good with a good variety.

Words can't describe it

We have visited this hotel many times and have always enjoyed our stay. We thought that with Irma's devastation the hotel may not be able to recover. Viva la Cuba they proved us wrong on so many levels the love warmth and hospitality remain the same or better than always but the staff are this hotels greatest gems. Each person on the staff do their best to ensure that everyone feels at home comfortable and included. Never got there !

The resort wasn't ready so we were sent to Playa Pilar, nice enough resort, although we wanted a beach, this resort didn't have one, only a boardwalk, was not what we booked .........??........?.99999999

Great resort. Amazing staff!

Another great time at the Mojito

We have been to this resort been to this resort before and was still as awesome as always. It was great to be reacquainted with old friends as well as meet a great bunch of new friends. There is still evidence from the hurricane in the fall, but the boys were working hard getting things back together. Hospitality was excellent and the food not to mention the beverages were excellent! Great vacation

The workers at the hotel are what make this resort such a great place. They are very friendly and fantastic at their jobs. The entertainment team is amazing. We met so many nice people & repeat customers. The pools are nice & were always clean. The beach is beautiful and they make very good drinks at all the bars. There is always a lot of good food choices also. The rooms are nice but they need to update their plumbing. That is my only negative thing about our trip. I would definitely re [... read more]turn.

Very nice resort

Amazing how much work has gone into restoring this hotel after Sept hurricane. It’s Very pretty the staff were great and always kept the guests entertained. I thought the food was very good. I would visit this resort again.

Good resort, EXCELLENT location

Resort was damaged by hurricane. Trees were depleted, but, hotel and staff doing their best. Too many kite surfers take away from this once PRESTNE beach. Have been to this resort 5 x's and 2 x's at the Imelia

Good Resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Iberostar mojito overall. The rooms we clean and spacious. The buffet was not big and the food a little bit repetitive, however everything was tasty. The beach was a little too far from the resort for my taste. The boardwalk was being repaired and it was a bit of a hike to get there. The entertainment was really good. I enjoyed the performances in the front lobby the most. Intimate and interactive. Geat resort, great staff!

night show is amazing, beach is beautiful, tables always set up nice and clean, room is good size and comfortable, plenty food...Because there are some lakes between the rooms and the beach, so lots of mosquitos in the early evening, need prepare enough mosquito spray.

Great Resort.

The resort was showing its age however, the employees were very diligent in making sure the rooms were clean and neat. While I was there, I witnessed some upgrades to a nearby room so they are trying to upgrade the resort. Also while I was there, the power went out for about 1/2 hr at night, island wide, which made things rather dark. The resort has its own generators so there was power in the lobby and some other key areas. The food overall was great. The only complaint I would have is that the El Malecon restaurant in the lagoon area had no screens and was not air conditioned. When we went for dinner there, the mosquitoes were incredibly bad as there was no wind. We found some shelter under the ceiling fans but there were only a few there so there was a lot of competition to sit near them. Screens on the windows would definitely upgrade this restaurant as would more ceiling fans. The piano player was a nice touch and the food there was really good. Visited Freddie in the Cigar Lounge one night. Great place to sit back and unwind. When we were there a local band was playing surprisingly, rock and pop tunes. Good job guys!! Visited the Disco one night to see the show. Some very talented people were performing! The Beach Bar hosted a beach party one night which was awesome! And before we left, the Cuban Thank-you party was great with the bbq'd pork, chicken and fish. Go see the Churro guy - they are awesome! Overall, this resort is not a 5* but definitely a 4* and one we thoroughly enjoyed.

You get what you pay for

This is definitely not the best resort on Cayo Coco, but it is also one of the cheapest. You get what you pay for. The facilities are nice but dates and in need of refreshment. The rooms are spacious and everything works but again, the need for renovation shows in the warn off desk, curtains, walls, etc. The maids do a good job keeping everything clean. The staff: well...a mixed bag. Some very attentive, especially in the buffet and others that would benefit from some training (or motivation...) [... read more]. The food was acceptable, nothing special, but quite OK for the money. The guys running the water sports (catamaran, kayaks, etc) are very nice and helpful. I stayed in this resort because as I went to Cayo Coco to go fishing and was away during the days: simply needed a decent play to sleep and eat. As such it met my needs and the price was right. Would I stay there if I were on typical holidays, staying at the resort and using the facilities, etc: maybe no. Or not until they do some work on fixing the place up a bit. The potential is there, someone needs to make the effort...

Average with potential resort!

The hotel was in some disrepair. Areas of the resort were not available the week we stayed and therefore not maintained. This included some of the grounds and half of the main pool. In addition, only one of the four air conditioners in the gym was working which made a workout almost impossible because of the stifling heat. The room was clean and the air conditioning was excellent although we did hear from other guests that this was a problem in some rooms. Inside our room, the toilet flushed sporadically and the bathroom did include a nice deep tub which was a nice surprise. The buffet food choices were limited to very few dishes and were the same each night however, the a la carte restaurants served amazing food and the staff were super friendly. Overall, the staff were very friendly. The beach was spectacular and we really enjoyed our time at the beach.

Gem of a resort

As repeat guests to this resort for many years, we have seen it change hands a few times. Iberostar seemed promising, but it was a shame to see certain areas neglected. The pools needed to be cleaned, waterfalls needed repair - garbage was not being tended to - and the grass and landscaping was neglected. Keep on top of the mosquitoes!

Not what we expected

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The resort itself is in such a disarray and the lagoon to the beach smelled of sewage which blew into the pool area. The restaurants were also on this lagoon. At one restaurant nothing could be eaten for all 4 of us. Not due to the smell but the food. Choice of food was very limited in the buffet. Pathways to rooms were very dangerous at evening especially. The ground floors very very musty smelling and had a tendency to flood during rain. The upper [... read more] floors had no private balconies. The beach almost disappeared when tide was high. Entertainment team seemed to be only hanging out with guests instead of doing group stuff. Grounds staff were more interested in selling you something instead of their job.

Great value!

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) enjoyed our stay at Iberostar Mojito. Very quick check in! The grounds and rooms are kept very clean, lots to eat at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants are good as well. We found the staff to be very friendly, smiling and saying hello. The beach was amazing, from that very first view you take as you walk down the boardwalk, smooth fine sand, turquoise water. The tide is high in the morning and goes out in the afternoon. The entertainment team did an excellent job in running activities poolside during the day and we also loved going to watch the shows every evening. The rooms and certain places around the resort need updating, but like I mentioned everything was kept clean which was great. If you're looking for modern, luxurious accommodations, then this place isn't for you. We would recommend this resort to friends and family and would most certainly come back here again.
