Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Resort exceeded expectatioms
First impression as I stepped into the Lady Hamilton Lobby "Wow". The colonial motif and grandeur of the lobby and resort blew me away. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The resort shuttle dropped me off at my villa and the driver escorted me to my room.
The resort buildings are showing a little wear and tear. Overall though they are very well maintained. The grounds are also very well kept. Gardners and maintenance staff were always present. I had to call maintenance once to assist with[... read more] the lock on my suite door. They came quickly to my suite and resolved the issue post haste.
Maps and signs are abundant and made navigating around the resort a snap. The Palladium app which was downloaded and set up for me at check-in was great. I used it often.
My first impression as I entered my Junior Suite - was " nice". The room was a very nice size and the ocean view from my balcony was a pleasure to view in the mornings as I drank the wonderful Blue Mountain coffee. My housekeeping person Melonie was wonderful. I had forgotten something (toothpaste) and asked her if she could help and she did.
The spa exceeded my expectations. The treatments I had and the hydrotherapy were wonderful. I was glad that I took advantage of the special.
The entertainment was excellent and varied. The night shows were top-notch. My favourites were: the Las Vagas, Bob Marley Tribute, and the Circus.
The staff was exceptional and friendly. They made my stay even more pleasurable.
Overall, I found the buffet and ala carte restaurants to have a pleasant atmosphere, good food, and great service. I enjoyed the Jamaican and Caribbean dishes served at the buffets. My favourite buffet place was the Blue Lagoon. Who would not want to eat on the patio overlooking the pool while listening to the live music? At the El Dorado ( steak) restaurant, I requested a coffee and my server went out of her way to get me what I had asked for - an americano. Now that is great service. I appreciated that they waited to find out if what I had ordered was cooked to my specifications - it was. The two Jerk huts beachside had wonderful Jerk Chicken and Pork. Very popular as the lines attested.
My favourite coffee place was Miss Lou's. Too bad the piano was broken at the time of my visit. I could easily see myself enjoying a late-night coffee there while listening to the piano.
Only two minor drawbaks tick out. None of the bars on the resort served the Jamaican Dragon Stout or Ginger Beer. I did find them in the gift store eventually. The first night at the bar I asked for a common cocktail called Dark and Stormy (made with Ginger Beer) and was told they could not make it for me. That did not detour me from partaking in the other wonderful cocktails they made. Every day was a new one to try.
Overall a wonderful experience.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Good time
Stayed at this hotel in late April. The beach and grounds were beautiful white sand for miles. No rocks. The water was warm in both the ocean and the pools.
Staff were very friendly and always resolved issues quickly.
The food was good for an all inclusive. Best to get to the buffets early to have the better selection and temperature of food. There were more restaurants than days I was there. Only downfall is the reservation system. There should be room for more reservations, but I was on[... read more]ly to get into five nights out of seven.
The rooms are very clean and housekeeping. Staff made sure that we were taken care of. The rooms are in need of updating.
Lots of activities and the staff worked hard to keep you engaged.
Overall I would recommend this resort for a family. Wonderful vacation thank you to all the wonderful staff

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Nice resort, lots of amenities. Rooms just ok
We overall had a great week. Lots to do at this resort, you won't be bored..service was great in the restaurants. The shows were amazing. The biggest let down that almost ruined our trip was that our AC broke during 40 degree weather. They "fixed" it after we asked them twice but it did not fix the issue and we had to move rooms at 11pm. We had two very tired kids. They moved us to a 3rd floor room and we had a wagon with us. No elevators. The front desk did not apologize or appear concerned in [... read more]the slightest of the inconvenience. The bell hops were great though and very helpful and empathetic about the move. It would have meant the world to us if they even showed a shred of empathy at the front desk. Overall I would recommend this for a nicer budget trip. The rooms were not impressive but I guess you get what you pay for. It was a lot of money to us though. The pools and beach were lovely and fun and Incan safely say our kids had a great experience. Definitely a good resort for families.

Grand Palladium Riviera Resort And Spa: Pretty good for the most part .
Grounds were Lovely as well as the staff.
Needs some updates. I know a few people had issues with the air conditioning. My screen door on the balcony fell off the first day and was never repaired. Food was adequate.
Good resort for the kids

Great resort for family with kids
Nice staffs
Good quality foods
Clean rooms and areas
I have been in their resort in Punta Cana and both places are great
If they add water park for adults to the resorts then it would be the best

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Not very good
The grounds were beautiful and well kept up, entertainment was very good a night. Rooms were clean but dated. The big problem is the service, waited for drink everywhere we went Morning,Day and night. Sometimes we would be finished breakfast before we could get coffee. The staff just seemed to not care. Lastly the pool is no good to hang out in unless you were 6 feet or taller.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Huge resort
Hotel is very large, we averaged about 5-8km of walking per day. Going through immigration was painless and quick at the time we arrived. However, once past immigration trying to secure our shuttle to the resort was chaotic and unorganized. Check in at the resort was fast, accommodation was great (suite, garden view). Food in general was good, beaches are nice but quite compact and small and watch for sand fleas, my legs received lots of bites. My only complaint was that some staff at this [... read more]resort clearly do not want to work there. Some staff were unapproachable and rude and some completely unhelpful. Biggest let down was our check out and the consistent expectation of a gratuity. We did not receive our email telling us what time our shuttle was leaving for the airport. We couldn’t find a rep all week to confirm and once checked out the front staff was completely unhelpful. I rate the resort a 7/10.

TRS Yucatan: Beautiful resort!
Our first time at this resort and it was amazing! Beautiful grounds and beautiful pools. From the moment you arrive to the time we checked out the level of service was extraordinary. Best of any resort that we have visited. Our room was beautiful and the butler’s were excellent. Food quality was great and catered to my husband’s gluten allergy. My only complaint was the beach area. Very small and far from the resort.

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: This resort has it all.
This resort was amazing!! Having travelled to numerous resorts over the last 20 years (25+ trips) this resort has figured it out. There is designated areas for families, adults (no kids) and club members, each having their own little resort inside the Grandpalladium complex. They have a lot of the restaurants, coffee shops, sports bar, sky bar and theatre all in the same vicinity calling it the village, this is also great as there is a nice atmosphere in the evenings for people to enjoy. All res[... read more]taurants I ate at were very good, anyone complaining about the food must have crazy expectations. I would recommend this resort to anyone. I will be back for numerous holidays.

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Fair at best
To start with when we arrived in our room it smelled like mould and mildew, the tables had actual crud stuck on them, thankfully I brought lysol wipes and was able to clean them. The cupboard door to access the fridge was off the hinge and falling apart. The bathroom shower had mould all along the floor at the bottom of the glass. The tap handle on the sink was about to fall apart. Our fridge was not stocked even though I asked it to be a few times until our last full day there.
The grounds wer[... read more]e kept nice however we had heard of several thefts that had taken place at the hands of staff members.
The food was not too our liking at all.

Grand Palladium Colonial: Great resort
The resort was beautiful and the food was great. We ate at many of the specialty restaurant’s and the Eldorado was the best, Asian was second, Italian was third and Mexican came in last. The beach and pools were also very good, a little sargassum was cleaned in the mornings and water was clear. It was our second stay at this resort and I would recommend this resort.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: We had some issues :(
6 of us went (friends) and in pairs we each got put into completely separate buildings and all with King size beds...we asked for 2 queens and they said there weren't any (the resort was not full) 2 days later 2 of the girls got a new room and 3 days later the other 2 got a room...my friend and i just sucked it up and shared a bed. But no assistance at all of trying to put us closer together.
The resort is massive so trying to find friends in different buildings that are far away wasn't easy.[... read more]
We went down to the main buffet in the morning the first day we were there and i can't make this stuff up...there was NO food 25 empty silver pans..we had yogurt/juice...I have never come across this before. When we went to go for dinner that night...they asked us to come back because there weren't ready (it was already 15 min past opening time)
We did discover the Negril buffet (awesome) and the Poisiden (awesome) half way through the stay. so i highly recommend these. The a la carts were great!!
The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of and the staff were all very kind and friendly!!
it was just the food and room situation that put a damper on us...but of course we pushed through lol

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Dated Resort
Staff was friendly and there was plenty of staff but it was next to impossible to get anything done. Rooms were pretty clean, we had requested two beds and only got one with no spare pillows and NO blanket; only one sheet. We requested multiple times for a room change to the upgraded room we had paid for and did finally get it 4 days into our 6 day stay. This was a girls trip with 6 friends and we were all "issued" one king size bed. It was next to impossible to get bookings for a La Carte resta[... read more]urants; we never could get the steak house and could only get the Japanese at 3pm. Breakfast buffets we pretty scarce at least 3 of the days.

TRS Turquesa: Switched hotels mid stay
This hotel was very well kept for the most part and most of the staff were wonderful and kind. Our room was the furthest away (building 58) and paralleled a busy road and neighbourhood. All day and night we heard motorcycles and cars racing down the road with loud booming music. Each night we heard loud rap music pounding from houses and a lot of loud (liquid filled) talking.
We would have asked to be moved but this was not the worst part of our stay. They have 1 coffee shop and it opens at [... read more]10:30AM and closes at 6:30PM! This is the only place you can get cappuccino or pastries, room service does not offer either of these. You can’t order a coffee or tea or even pastries after 11am from room service. We do not drink alcohol so this was my worst nightmare!
We only lasted 3 days, our last straw was going to the buffet for dinner and realizing the ONLY buffet available was in the all ages part of the resort which meant we had to take golf cart to buffet and sit with families and kids. Most people go on holiday to adult only resorts to avoid this. There are NO other options.
The day we were leaving, I fell really hard in my room because the air conditioner vent on the ceiling was leaking all over the tile floor (the pictures would shock you).
On our second day we learned we could get a cappuccino from the main bar in the lobby (remember, we are at far end of resort) so we walked up to get one and stood at the bar (which had no patrons, only about 6 people working behind all talking to each other and ignoring us standing there), that is, until we pulled out a $5 bill. Even then it was sub-par service and hospitality at best. We don’t expect a red carpet and are pretty down to earth and friendly but that was ridiculous.
We called Trip Central asking if we could move hotels and were told (VERY nicely) to call Air Transat as they had put the package together. We called Air Transat and they said we could NOT change hotels as we had already left Canada. How does that make sense???? How would I know if the hotel I had booked I would have issue’s with prior to arriving?
We ended up booking another hotel, paying for private transfer and paying for balance of stay which cost us another $4,000.00.
Then the day before our departure, we realized how late our flight was and the new hotel required us to checkout by noon. This meant we would be sitting in limbo for 5 hours before our ride to airport. We checked Air Transat online to see if any earlier flights and they had seats available! We called Air Transat asking if we could switch to earlier flight (which would have been a win for them because they could sell our later flight ticket at a higher cost), once again, Air Transat said no! This is a joke now, I was furious!
So after sitting for hours before heading to airport, we get charged $100 US for 2kg overweight…. Interesting because we did not purchase anything and it was the same weight as it was when we left, minus the floaters we left behind and whatever we used. Heaven forbid you question it, they don’t speak English.
We have been to punta cana 4 times this year alone and have always stayed at Bahia Principe Ambar but wanted to give TRS Turquesa a shot because we had heard good things. NEVER again. In fact, I don’t think we will return to DR anytime soon because of this nightmare.
I’ve veered off, I apologize but please know, Air Transat Vacations will do nothing to help you, the Punta Cana airport is getting worse everyday and TRS Turquesa is not what they advertise at all.
Beware, Air Transat Vacations can not be modified in ANY WAY once you leave your country, regardless of the reason and will do nothing to help, assist or compensate you.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Could do better
Thus resort in my opinion only should be graded at 2.5 stars.
The customer service was ok but definitely not good! The service on the beach was fine but not good enough for a resort graded at 5 stars. The food was good but should've been better considering it's given 5 stars. There's no nightlife. The casino is 1cent machines only with a run down look & feel. The golf carts to drive guests around are never to be found. Room service is useless. I would definitely not recommend this resort when y[... read more]ou can get a better bargain elsewhere in Jamaica.
