Relaxing and fun all at once

We enjoyed our stay , met great people and it was a perfect size. 👍🏻 I just didn’t like the culinary experience I got sick off the food and had a sore stomach and nausea and diarrhea the next day. Everyone said the experience with the culinary experience was awesome. But for 150.00 American never again. The place only got 4 a la carte restaurants that you never need reservations but you would think they would need more restaurants but the menu is so different that you can go to the sa [... read more]me place every night and never eat the same stuff ex. Italian don’t just have pasta, sushi is not only sushi........loved all restaurant. Service was great and beach was always clean. Buffet always had different themes every night and fish and sea food was always available. We had to check out early cause our flight was only at 10pm but they had a hospitality room available for us at the end of the day to wash off before the shuttle 👍🏻 Just wasn’t crazy about the time share always being asked. The spa walking around daily to ask if you want a massage and nexus asking if you want to book excursions. They have stations for all that and if you are interested you will go But once you said no they would not ask again till the next day 🥵but most off all what we hated the most was 2.days out of the week getting bugged and harassed from locals that are aloud on the resort Friday all day from like 8 am till 10 pm and giving you stuff and saying you owe them and you said no that is all day on fridays non stop And again on the evening of the micheal Jackson in the lobby night show. Very annoying. If you wanted to go shopping they got a free bus twice a day all week long going to the mall. And on the Friday evening my husband even got asked if he wanted to buy drugs and offered him a huge variety just not right right In my opinion. The vendors/time share/excursions/spa sales are a real buzz kill to the resort

Wonderful Vacation!

Hotel was lovely, quaint, chick! It was refreshing to stay at a small resort for a change, be able to walk from one end to the other in less than 5 minutes. And did not give anything up in regard to facilities, still had wonderful restaurants, pool areas, and entertainment. Staff were plentiful, courteous, and resort was clean, although the resort is starting to show signs of wear. Food was hot, tasty, and well presented.

2nd time even better than the 1st!

Second time, better than the first!!!! How is that possible?? What it made it so great? Johan, Johan, Johan is the MAN! By far the best concierge/butler we have EVER experienced. He has now set the bar so high I really don’t think anyone will ever compare. Firstly, when we arrived we had a major hiccup, which I am not going to even bother sharing because Johan quickly saw the grit in my teeth and managed to not only manage my issue, but go WAY above and beyond. I truly he believe made our t [... read more]rip even better than it would have been had everything gone smoothly from the start. So here is the deal: • Go Diamond club….totally worth it. Dinner reservations, great beach bar, better room locations, great little Diamond club with appys. • The food….I am in TOTAL awe at whoever complains about the food. Are there the odd dish that is so so, yes, but we have been to many high-end Mexico resorts and quite frankly this is on par. Yes, the portions are small. If you are complaining about that, you may want to reevaluate your eating habits….or maybe even your ordering habits, just order more dude! Problem solved! • The person that complains about the entertainment is probably stuck in some strange time warp. The Madonna singer was AMAZING. We actually thought she was lip syncing and had to take a double take to realize she wasn’t. • The rooms can be damp, yes. Why? It’s called humidity. People leave their room sliders open to enjoy the sea air….this is the result. It tends to also affect the wood, which is prone to warping in the sea air. And sea air is corrosive on metal. I think the resort does the absolute best in trying to keep up with it. The rooms are still clean and sexy. • The service overall was generally really good. The pool and lobby bars could maybe add a couple extra people during the rush times, but overall no complaints. • The pool area in the afternoon is not as much a party as we would have liked. The DJs tend to smile and nod when you ask for requests, and continue to pay the Spanish dance music. The techno music they play during the water aerobics is AWESOME, and wish they played that in the afternoon. Admittedly we did sneak down to Breathless for an afternoon to party at their pool. However, outside of that I hate Breathless. Stayed there once and it had terrible food, weird resort layout and bad bad bad entertainment. • While Chic is a small resort, the layout is so expansive it makes it feel bigger than it is. • The beach is beautiful. No seaweed, well manicured. A few waves to make it interesting. We have never been to any resort more than 2 times but we WILL be back for a 3rd to Chic. Did I happen to mention Johan? Truly he made our trip so amazing, I can’t thank him enough. Johan pleased don’t ever leave! We will see you again very soon my friend ;-)

Good choice

Nice resort, good food, nice people. Unfortunately we had rain 6 days out of 7, and not just mist, but showers all day. But we still had an amazing time. I would still recommend to friends. Steak house and Italian are the best. They should think of changing the Tagine restaurant for something else. Not good and always empty

CHIC Punta Cana

Room type: swim-out, Diamond Club Pros: amazing service, very clean room and very well kept hotel, food is above average for Dominican Republic, fantastic entertainment, very friendly staff, good restaurants and especially loved the coffee shop with an amazing range of coffees and probably the biggest and nicest spa I have seen in DR (been there 7 times) Cons: a bit noisy if your prefer a more relaxed and quiet vacation, ocean is a bit rough, hotel is a bit isolated however is not a con if aga [... read more]in you prefer quiet Overall we had an amazing time and our butler (Thomas) was always available with a nice approach without being overbearing. The Royalton is a great hotel chain and I would return to any of their hotels in a heartbeat. Loved it!

Very nice resort

grounds, buildings, rooms, staff and service 5+. food 3 1/5, the noise level from the pool area is way too loud, unable to have chairs at the beach, towels are put on chairs although some are unoccupied all day..so never went to the beach except for a few short walks... excessive sewer smell from bathroom in our room (building 6, ground floor)

Amazing vacation

My partner and I stayed at the chic, to celebrate my 30th birthday. We stayed in the the Diamond club, with a swim out room and it was worth the extra money spent! Our butter Joan (aka JJ) was amazing, and made sure our mini finger and bar was always stocked. Remi was around to help out at time that JJ was busy, and did an awesome job! The Bar waitress always remembered what we were drinking, and brought them with the biggest smile on her face (I'm sure her ace had to hurt from smiling by the en [... read more]d of the day). We loved our stay so much, we tired to extend it, Wilkin hooked us up big! I miss the smell of fresh burgers being grilled everyday by the pool. All the food was so good and the portion sizes were great! We enjoyed our stay so much, and would recommend it to anyone!

Awesome

The resort was amazing, service was top notch. We had a luxury/standard room which was fine as we were hardly in it. Yes the shower leaked but a towel on the floor solved the issue. Pools and drinks were great. There was something for everyone. The burgers were the best ever. Some windy days there was above average seaweed but the tractor did its best to clean up. My experience

We did enjoy our time at Chic. We went for our friend's wedding. However, when we got there we were super excited, but that changed quickly. Our group was all getting their rooms and we did not. They then proceeded to tell us that our room had been cancelled, which is weird since our flight was fine and we were on the attendance on the bus on the way to the resort. They told us they couldn't do anything to upgrade us for the disappointment. They didn't even offer us a free massage or anyth [... read more]ing. I was very disappointed with how they treated us.

So impressed.

Everything was absolutely perfect. From accommodation, to food to exceptional service. I can’t stress how amazing all staff were. Such lovely people. The beach (and non stop cocktails) were excellent. Would definitely stay at other Hotels in the chain.

An excellent time

We went with a big group for a destination wedding and had an excellent time. The pools and beach were beautiful and the staff were incredible and friendly. The rooms left something to be desired, especially the bathrooms, but were OK. The restaurants were quite good as were the snacks, but the buffet was simply OK. My wife and I had a great time, even if those few things weren't up to snuff.

Not as great as advertised

I was under the impression that it was a 5 Star hotel, but I didn’t feel it was. Pros: 24 hour room service, grounds were beautifully manicured, bracelet key entry, aqua fitness classes were fun, Marisol and Yulia were amazing pool servers, Italian restaurant was really good, gift shop had almost anything you needed (even though it was pricey), lots of booze options, private cabanas were great and beach was beautiful. Cons: Male s [... read more]taff members were kind of sleazy and asked too much about my marital status when I wasn’t with my partner and tried to sell us on perks too much. The vendors were pushy and made it uncomfortable, central bar staff in lounge area were distracted and gave poor service, buffet and room service food wasn’t that good, not many fruit options, room smelled musty, rain shower barely worked, bed was hard and lumpy, room looked a little grimey and needing of repairs, pool area staff were relentless to recruit people to play games (even when you just wanted to relax). We tried to use the oxygen bar, but no one could work it, and said no to us after trying to find someone to work it. The lineups to get into the country and out were absolutely absurd and chaotic. Was almost impossible to get more money, and stores rarely had change for purchased items (bring LOTS of 1$ bills). There is no ginger ale. The trip was amazing and we had an absolute blast, but once was enough. I don’t feel the need to return.

Excellent choice for a vacation!

CHIC is a beautiful resort! You definitely feel pampered if you opt for the Diamond Club and the Butler. Thank you Thomas for doing such a great job for us!!! Presidential Suite is a magnificent suite......very spacious, extremely clean and comfortable!! Food is excellent in the buffet and also at the a la carte restaurants! So nice to have the extra options such as the INSOMNIA CAFE and the Diamond Club Lounge...fabulous food and drinks... What a pleasure to have a rest on the beds at the [... read more] Diamond Club Beach Club and the food and drinks there were very special....thank you Diana, Chef, and Bartenders! The staff worked very hard to make us happy....Stephany was always there to make us feel special. She really cares and it shows!!!

Resort too expensive, food not great

I paid a lot of money for this vacation and I didn't appreciate staff at the resort aggressively trying to sell paintings, souvenirs, etc. every time I walked by them. I was disappointed that the hotel doesn't pay their staff a decent salary. The staff shouldn't have to rely on tips. The staff at the hotel, including the Nexus agent, were all great and worked very hard. The food at the buffet was always cold. I don't think the warming trays worked.

Great Little Resort!

This resort was the perfect size for us. We went as a large group for a wedding and while there were a few hiccups, check in at the front desk was relatively seamless for such a large group. The staff are all super friendly regardless of where they worked in the resort. Food was good and there was always some form of entertainment happening. They even had sunrise and sunset yoga on the beach which I thought was nice. The resort didn't seem overcrowded but there were never any chairs at the pool  [... read more]or the beach available. There's a real issue with people dropping their towels at 7am and leaving for the day because the towels are given freely. This made it incredibly frustrating which led to us to not being able to enjoy the beach as much. The only chairs available were full sun so more umbrellas could help with this. Rooms were good (we had the luxury room) however be forewarned that if you're shy, these rooms aren't for you - there is no bathroom door, just a frosted glass door to the toilet that didn't even reach the ceiling and the shower has a window right into the room which, if using the washroom at night will shine right into your hubby's face lol. It also directly faces the balcony so we had our drapes shut most of the time. All in all it was a great experience! Be sure to try the Italian restaurant - it was so good!!!!

Best F*ing Vacay Ever

Not only did this resort have exceptional staff that truly cared for your stay there but they had activities going on every day and every night. Let’s just say you don’t really need to go outside the resort to find some fun because this place is a handful

Not a 5 star experience!

Lovely beach Inconsistent service, front desk staff by far the worst of the team. Moody and quite rude. Not helpful when asked for help. Adolfo at front was most noticeably miserable and actually quite rude. The rooms dated, small and run down, repairs needed details missing. Cold lobby. Food is ok at restaurants, buffet as expected so,so. Most snack bars and inroom dining cold. Ice machines and spa jets/pools not working during our stay. Not much being done to rectify. Lots of entertainm [... read more]ent if you enjoy a busy pool scene this is your place. Solid fitness selection, enjoyed aqua spin with one of the instructors (the machine) if you travel a lot and have experienced 5 star elsewhere don’t expect it here. If you’re new to travel and don’t mind missing details you’ll enjoy chic. Our other Royalton experiences were far better than this one. Won’t be coming back here.

Fantastic service and resort

This is a great resort if you are looking to relax. While they do have a great entertainment team with plenty of activities during the day and night, my purpose of this trip was to relax and I was more than able to do that. I definitely recommend the diamond club when you go as the beach butler service was fantastic as well as the beach beds that come with this upgrade. * Spent honeymoon in Dominican Republic: RIU property in Puerto Plata - nostalgic to return to DR to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary * Chose CHIC due to so many positive TripAdvisor reviews * Definitely did NOT find this a 5* property; perhaps for those travel only to Cuba or DR - not by Mexico standards; 3.5 tops, across the board: service; accommodation; most food; property size * Right from arrival: Airport chaos - no structure * Bus run down and wasn’t sure we’d make it to our [... read more] destination! * Check in process long and not very informative * Requested top floor room for our 15th anniversary: given ground floor; requested quiet area: our room opened up to main road / staff entrance…(building 8); immediately asked to move as room had a bad smell of mold!!! * Moved to building 5 - ok but VERY small rooms; seem a bit run down; lights didn’t all work; chips in counters; rust on floor bolts. * No information in rooms - told it was all on TV’s (on day 2) which take a while to figure out! Funny though, we went for our 15th wedding anniversary but a Happy Birthday message kept popping up on our tv! * Few restaurant options: only one choice for breakfast; same food every day - didn’t alter menu selections at all! From the concierge at your building, to all those stationed around the property in their hot pink shirts - accosting you each and EVERY time you walked by... hubby joked: we need one of those stickers saying we’ve been asked already!!! It was too much!!! * Paid a premium for “luxury; exclusive, all inclusive” ...it was not; again, based on TripAdvisor reviews... it was better than our Cuba vacation in some ways, but overall the service and amenities in Mexico far exceed for us. * Washrooms always a little gross and ladies stalls constantly out of toilet paper! * I was dismayed by the number of excellent ratings on TripAdvisor - I then came to learn, it’s actually part of the staff’s “schpeel” at end of any fitness classes “best to share on TripAdvisor”...almost funny by end of trip * This property is very small (again, in comparison to those 5* we frequent in Mayan Riviera) - so hard to escape the noise of the fun & games around the pool * We are not big party people, we go on vacation to relax and enjoy some serenity * No such thing as a true “quiet” area if you want to escape the loud music of the vibe team - super nice people, but we don’t go for the games. I did partake in yoga and Fabio was amazing. * Not much of a nightlife either - also fine with us, but if going for the “shows” you typically find in Cuba/Mexico, you may be disappointed. * If you enjoy the ocean, this is NOT the place to go... winds are VERY high and water is REALLY rough & unsafe to swim! Fine with me as I prefer the pool, but hubs prefers the ocean. * They do have some wonderful staff: evening servers: Nestor and Nicholas; Yulia doing pool service (the only one who would actually service the “quieter” pool!); amazing lady at coffee bar: can’t recall her name unfortunately, but she is 6 months pregnant, cute as a button and has a fabulous personality! And Edwin at Munchies. * Don’t get me wrong, we DID have a great vacation! After all, It’s what you make it! It’s just not up to the same standards we have become accustomed to; and was definitely disappointed to have paid MORE than we normally would for those “luxury exclusive” offerings... which we never found!

Wonderful Resort

We had a great experience at the Chic The rooms were very clean and the hotel grounds were very well kept The staff were accommodating and friendly. The restaurants were beautiful and the food was top notch quality.The daily activities made the resort lively. The recreation staff had great energy and ensure a great time was had by all!
