Objective review

This is my 3rd time at this resort and this time we stayed 2 weeks. It is a nice resort but some maintenance is starting to show that is required to maintain the resort rating. The grounds are well maintain. The beach is nice but lack of chairs is becoming an issue. Availability will increase after lunch. Towels availability was fine. Rooms are ok but will need some updates soon as in my case, some stains in wall, couch, covers, were showing. I will recommend the lobster lunch at the Ra [... read more]nch buffet near the beach ($20) they will set up a table for you and include a bottle of sparkling wine and you can select a bottle of wine for around $7. Talk to Eloy (captain) and Elizabetha for an excellent service and great job done by the chef aka as The Mexican. We did it twice. The service provided by Judith and Brandys in the main lobby was excellent. Service en general was great in all areas. Food was good and they keep it coming. The only negative opinion is for the restaurants, menu wasn't the greatest and why trying to make look by 5 * ended up not having the dishes in the menu and portions were so small we ended up going to the buffet for desert or some more food. Be aware of mosquitoes ( they told me they are not mosquitoes but sand flies,which never saw them). They didn't bother us in previous visit but this time they were in abundance. Good time and good weather.

Nice resort

The week we went to cayo coco they had rations as in shortages...drinking water pop juice etc ... we were a group of 8 ladies that went ..there was no hot water for showers for most of the week ... It's a nice resort..the staff was awesome and did there best with what they had...overall could use an upgrade in the facilities as toilets.. water temperature etc. It asks if I would recommend this hotel to friends ..probably not right now ..maybe if they fix the problems and do some upgrades

Great Vacation Again

We stayed here end of January for one week. This was our 5th visit over the years and have noticed some changes. Hotel was full and this at times overwhelmed staff. Additional Trumped up embargo's are definitely effecting the people of Cuba and also tourist areas. No soap for two days, food assortment is more limited. Food, however was well prepared, presented, and hot. Never hungry! Buffet staff seemed new and inexperienced. Alà cartes as usual try very hard to make your experience special, but again effective management not in place. All bars, lounges and their staff are efficient and friendly. Beach bar guys are awesome (Joel, Leeangel) Nautica teams all good guys, missed Alejandro this time. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Maid service team are awesome rooms left clean and fresh. Overall we noticed a real lack of supervision and management, unlike past visits. These people used to be everywhere and could be seen visiting all areas of resrt on their mopeds. Now it is repairmen using the mopeds. We love this hotel and its location and grounds are beautiful. We will return!

Dont go :(

Please don't go to this property. It is not 3.6☆ I have been to Cuba 8 times. The people are lovely, the service was good at check in and with Air Canada, but the resort is in need of renovations. Our first room was a 20 minute walk from the lobby, the property is huge..too big. We moved rooms but we had two small single beds, filthy curtains, toilet didn't flush, no hot water, dark..little lighting if any.very old. I have a breathing problem, COPD, and a sleep apnea Cpap machine so I co [... read more]uld not stay in the mouldy room. The buffet was small, dirty, dark, and people made a mad rush like animals before things were gone. Lots of hot.dogs cut up, whole, on little buns, nothing that I would eat. We transferred to a different hotel that day. So, two hotels, 4 rooms later 2days wasted.. I would give this 2☆

Well done!

Our second time staying here and it was great! Food was fantastic! Staff wonderful and super accommodating. Definitely come back to enjoy the beauty and loveliness! Amazing beach, white sand! Awesome seashells too!

Done with Cuba

Clean resort, poor communication, no attempt to speak english for most employees. Not only did I experience theft of 180.00 my friend had 50.00 taken. And yes, I was pretty good at putting everything of value in the safe, only once did I run down to coffee bar and left my wallet on dresser. Watch out for the guys that fill the refrigerator. We don't go to Cuba for the food, everyone in our group got food poisioning, I mean really bad. Very large resort

Good variety of food. However 11 days without a hot meal is disappointing. We were at the lobby desk 7 times to have door key reset. They finally fixed the lock when I lost my cool. The resort is showing its age. Water stains on ceilings and mould on outside stair wells. Walkways are very uneven Try to take a warm shower!! About the 3rd try you realize it won’t happen.

I can go back

Clean rooms, excellent service, great bartenders, super friendly customer service, a lot of restaurants and entertainments, long walks on the beach, close to airport, a lot of bars with 24 hours bar..

Beautiful beach

Melia Jardine has a beach with soft white sand and beautiful clear clean water. The room was clean and our maid was very accommodating. The food service at Melia is a bit sketchy. We had breakfast cereal but no bowls on 5 mornings. The bread is terrific but sometimes we went without butter. The chefs that cook omelets are very quick and omelets were delicious, but the line up is long. The chef that cooked pancakes made only 6 at a time. 3 people would take those 6 and then we had to wait  [... read more]for her to start a new batch. The coffee at the main buffet was too weak. We enjoyed good coffee at the 24 hr snack bar.

Amazing resort and very clean

we enjoyed our stayed in Melia del Rey for a whole week...the rooms and sorroundings is very clean....staff are lovely and polite...we love the beach..water is very clean...we enjoyed their night programs and dancing...about the food it was not as good as we expected but there is a lot of variations of foods...Overall i will recommend the place to visit and stay..thank you Melia del Rey for the wonderful getaway...

Great experience for my 15 year old

The hotel itself is fine--clean room, hot showers, nice layout except at night need more lighting on the walkways. The food is less than to be desired...by day 4 my daughter and I could not bear to go to the buffet...luckily we had 3 a la carte restaurant vouchers with our package. These restaurants were better food and no greasy oil smell which was hit you instantly when you walked into the buffet. Melia Jardines del Rey

During our stay at Melia Jardines del Rey was not too bad..we enjoyed the beach,pools and the sorroundings...the food was okay not as good as we expected..the programs were good specially the night programs... The rooms are very clean except that the hot water at the shower was not constant.. All the staff were very kind and polite...the a la carte restaurants were not serving the foods that we expect too...Anyway overall we had fun and i think of going back there again someday...

Incredible experience

Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Rooms were perfectly cared for and the staff of the whole resort never dropped the ball once. The grounds were maintained and cared for every day with an incredible group of individuals on their team. The restaurants for sit down 3 course meals and the buffets were excellent with not one complaint from myself or husband, and we both have allergies and the accommodated ya very well. As well as versed in French and many other languages. Multiple day and evening events taking place to make sure you have a wonderful experience with super energetic event coordinators. They also offered many on and off resort excursions as well to meet anyone’s needs/ wants to see the whole environment. Incredible experience through and through.

Great Beach

This is our second time to this resort in the last two yrs.because of location and beach. The resort is ok but needs an upgrade to food selection and restaurant service quality just not there when we were there also not enough beach chairs or pool area. People had to get up at 7 o'clock to get half descent lounging areas. The resort visually looks great but needs lot of work not enough workers there to support client's needs. Good holiday for price

Hotel is starting to look tired. Lighting is a huge issue on pathways and in buildings, bring a flashlight. Check in fairly easy and took us to our rooms explaining where things were along the way. Food average for Cuba, no yogurt or cereal to speak of, also some mornings no to little bread for toast. Service was pretty good all around. International and Tex mex al a crate pretty good. Rooms large, we had a king bed, but pillows are really flat. Water was replenished regularly as well as beer. Rooms clean and towels replaced. Tv worked great. Safe worked great and it is large. Bar service was awesome. Lobby bar huge, drinks awesome. Chairs are really low and tables high, not very comfy. Entertainment brought in was good, resort entertainment average. Ladies toilet @ lobby was shut down due to flooding one day. Toilet paper and soap an issue @ times at pool. Not much for day time entertainment at pool. Played darts a couple of days. Pools kept fairly clean and grounds tidy. Beach beautiful-lots of shells so you may want water shoes. Lots of palapas @ beach and some at pool. No blender drinks @ pool, just mixed drinks and beer. Never had an issue getting a lounger, but resort was only 67% full.

Such an AMAZING beach!

Resort was very large with a good layout. Food was good at the restaurants ( but very very small portions) but buffets were awful. Food was very repetitive and never ever hot. Drinks were all very tasty. Coffee is one of the best things about Cuba! Service was great from the staff.. all were helpful and friendly. I got the week for $799 so all in all for the price I paid i was happy with the price and resort. I wouldn't want to pay much more then that considering the food was not the b [... read more]est I've had in Cuba and this was my 4th trip. Resort is close to the airport which was super handy for the transfer there and back. I would definitely go back again for the right price but I tend to not go to the same resorts as I like to try new ones out

Fantastic service

The grounds were maintained well and were lush and beautiful. The staff are amazing and are always friendly and helpful - always with a smile on their faces. The beds were harder than I'm used to but you cant please everyone - so no big deal. We love the people in Cuba so we keep going back. We have visited this resort twice and will likely be back.

My Favourite

Surprised when I saw the beautiful suites I stayed in.The People ,the food,service, the beaches ,the pools ,the supper invitations...beach and sun with umbrella refreshments... .....I could go on and on... Looking forward to returning for another two weeks. It will be trip #4

Definitely suffice

I just returned from a solo trip at Meliá Jardines del Rey, I enjoyed my stay. I always found something to eat. A la carts were okay. The staff was friendly and helpful at every level from reception to the beach. My room was clean but slightly dated. Many activities to choose from, plus a 2 minute walk from the disco and shopping. Beach was very beautiful clean and not rocky. Non motorized activities were nice. The bartenders were good and a good selection of drinks were available. Wifi was spo [... read more]tty some days but worked in specific areas. Close proximity to the airport. Many excursions. I feel the value for what I paid was good.

I got sick there but I can go back

I love Cuba and first time I got really sick in Cuba was at this resort. I guess I ate something didn't go well with me. I was vomiting all day and had diary for nine days there and I haven't recovered yet in Canada. I found Cockroaches in the draw next to my bed on my 5th day there. I took pictures and showed to customer service. They send over people to spray the room and the bed but I couldn't stay there. Next day, they gave me better room. You can imagine the rest and I don't have to write what others are writing. Pros: Great location, close to airport. Buildings are new well kept. Excellent costumer service. " front desk, manager Carlos solves the issues. Great main bar(huge), open 24 hours. A lot of restaurants, my favor was "oriental" and "Mediterranean". They have great service and great food. Room service is impeccable. Water and beers in your room 95%. ------------------- Cons: Two crowded Buffet has the same food every day, no changes. Lines are too long to get an omelet, fish, pasta or meat. Some employees don't clean tables well at the buffet. The wines are not good at all at the bars and buffet...cheap wine. -------------------------- Don't pay extra for room "elegance". I never got anything ------ This is not a bad resort. I got sick but I will go there again.
