Worst Resort Ever

This is the worst hotel and worst trip I've ever had. First off the hotel is not as clean and put together as the pictures would suggest, it is more of a 2-3 star in appearance, our lamp fell apart on us, the fridge in our room was broken, our screen door was broken and letting in bugs, just everything as falling apart. The hotel is not really beachfront, most of the rooms are facing the pool or have no view at all so this is not the place for you if you want a beach getaway. The service was  [... read more]good at some places, especially at the bar in the main building but at bars and the buffet hall you an expect to just be ignored or wait forever for someone to actually get you anything. Unless you are tipping very high do not expect for the servers to be nice and helpful. The entertainment was basically obsolete, if you want to party and have fun this definitely isn't the place. There is a small theatre that does entertainment at night but it wasn't much and looked pretty sad. I was there for new years eve and there was a very poorly planned celebration with not much other than some dancers they hired and a DJ but the way they set it up around the pool and with all the people you couldn't actually see the dancers so there was really just crowds and a shitty DJ. This hotel is also very corrupt in it's management, I had previously wrote a review of the hotel during my stay cause I was so mad at my experience and when we asked someone to help at the front desk nothing was done but then we were basically blackmailed into taking our review down and made extremely uncomfortable by the customer service representatives. This is also not the place you want to go during the pandemic, there are not proper precautions to prevent the spread of covid-19, the staff are mostly wearing masks but the guests are not asked to at all and at the buffet there is no social distancing and safety precautions other than them plating the food for you but sometimes that wasn't even the case. The PCR tests they do for when you are travelling home also aren't proper, they barely go into your nose when they are testing and put incorrect dates on the forms, I tested positive when I got to the airport so I know that the test they gave me at the hotel as incorrect and I should have been positive and probably contracted covid during my stay. All in all, I urge everyone not to stay here, please rebook to another hotel for your own sake, I wish I had the chance to.

Great place

Top of the list is the people! The staff are amazing and friendly and it was a pleasure getting to chat with them. The beach- hands down one of the best! Rooms are kept clean but could use a little face lift. Nice short walking distance to all the amenities. Varadero and the Beatles bar are a must ( take the double decker bus for a 5$ Day pass). Great resort

Since this was our first visit to Cuba during Covid, we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. All workers were wearing facemask and all surfaces were regularly disinfected. Hotel was really great, newer, with big rooms, walk in showers and flat screen TV. Food was really good, they had good selection in buffet but on smaller scale. Definitely upgrade!

Rooms were good and clean. Staff amazing. Grounds could use some work especially around the main pool area. Lots of peeling paint and cracks. We upgraded to premium and it is definitely wworth it. premium area is well kept and food is much better than the buffet. Condiments are available in premium side but not regular part of resort. Don’t get me wrong beaches were pretty but not the best for Cuba. Bathrooms were always clean and staff always wore masks. Can’t say enough about the staff. All excellent and doing their best for you. Take American money. They give a bad rate for Canadian and do not always take Cuban pesos. No sense really getting pesos. We met some wonderful Canadians and had a great time. Food just ok. Would not return to this hotel but if you get a deal it’s worth it to give it a try. Definitely upgrade!!!!

Amasing sea

I was in my vacation november, 4 - november 11 The weather was amazing, a little bit windy. About hotel: the rooms smell damp, but it disappears every other day with the windows open. I don’t know if it’s like that in all the rooms, but we had it like that. Basically, I liked everything. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The mattresses squeak. Not very comfortable. During this period, was terrible. Once the locals move out, everything is fine The pool snack bar is periodically closed. Or the staf is hiding food. We couldn't feed our children after a long flight. In the end, they brought food, but decided that we were eating raw meat. They wrapped it in rolls and spiced it with a minimal amount of mayonnaise and a slice of cucumber. It's good that they didn't spit. Thanks. Very little animation. On the beach, the animation was only 3 days out of 7. Boring. We need more animators on the beach. Basically everything was very good. The sea is great and warm. Food is ok mostly. There is always something to choose from. Compared to other hotels in Cuba where we have been. And we have been already about 11 times in Cuba, in this hotel, restaurant everything is very decent. Nice and clean. The staff are very polite and pleasant. Very kind and helpful people. I will recommend this hotel, but have to change somethings.

Amazing resort

I recently stayed at vista azul resort in Cuba..i did the 200$ upgrade to privileged..$ very well spent..the resort itself was very well kept..beaches were 10/10..amenities were great..food was Very good..and i had heard differently..i highly recommended this resort for your next vacation..and the best part was the ppl who worked there..tho they have been hit hard by covid..no outside assistance..these cuban employees couldn't do anything more to make our stay the the most luxurious and very co [... read more]mfortable stay..will definitively be going back here to stay

Great resort

I can't say enough good about this resort. The grounds are kept beautifully and the beaches are lovely. We stayed in a premium room in the exclusive area. The service is impeccable, Yuriel was always available to do anything he could to make our stay most pleasurable. The bartender Danny was always ready with a drink and a smile for you. The pool bartender Livia makes you feel like you have been friends for years. I feel like I came for a vacation and left with extended family. Amazing resort…. I’ll go back!!

Lovely rooms very clean and comfortable. Food was great and grounds were beautiful. Staff were friendly, helpful and totally awesome!! Lobby was inviting and walked out to hey serenity pool which overlooked the ocean. Just beautiful! Beach was a little far but beach bar was open til very late and had entertainment. Very nice swim up bar but pool side had great service as well. The staff are the best that I have experienced so far! I will go again 😊

Paradise

The hotel was amazing; rooms were clean and beaches were outstanding. The services of all the staff was amazing I would go back anytime. Everyone was so nice enjoyed there company and there hospitality. The infinity pool was outstanding with the breath taking view. Have no complains will be there again. The only thing there was alot of mosquito rest everything was perfect. Wifi was free aswell you just have to tell them to recharge it for you. Wonderful experience at Oceans Vista Azul

Our second trip to the resort provided an even better experience than the first. We upgraded to privilege package which allowed us to stay in a separate area with its own pool, restaurant, bar areas as well as customer service area to handle all of our needs. The 8 month old facility was spectacular with everything you could want in a suite. Having a patio overlooking the pool became our breakfast go to place each morning. A couple snags with housekeeping that were addressed immediately. WIFI was vastly better than 2 years ago, had no issues at all there.Food was good overall, they tend to over cook fish and meat so note to ask how you want it cooked. House wine is poor I suggest you buy a couple bottles at duty free and bring them to the dinner with you. If you have kids its a good idea to bring the mini restaurant condiment packages for ketchup, peanut butter etc. The beach is a bit of a hike and somewhat crammed but still quite nice with lots of sand, beach activities, cabanas, and loungers. An inflatable floatie for the pool or ocean would work well if we thought of it. Staff overall were great to deal with.

Beautiful resort, food not so much, beach towels were not easy to get, run out of wine, by third day, food not good , never seen potatoes or vegetables all week. Have been to Cuba many times but will think twice about going back

Worst resort I have ever been to in cuba

I have travelled to Cuba resorts for 10 years and have always looked forward to going back. Until now. I have never stayed at such an terrible resort in Cuba in all of my 10years. The food was disgusting. The hotel is only five years old and looks like it is about 20 years old and never been painted. Met two cockroaches for a first in Cuba running around my room upon arrival. Most food was cold the 4 restaurants did not take reservations and could only seat about 40persons at a tile and people who paid extra had first choices. The hotel has about 900 rooms. Restaurant to small for resort. Ran out of white wine three out of six days. I was told I couldn’t have another glass of wine at supper one nite because it was warm.The bed spreads were dirty. I could go on and on but I just want to forget my worst vacation ever. Advertising as a 4plus. Would not even give a three star. Trip central needs to check out there stars a bit closer. The only think good was the ocean view. I think I should win the contest just for what we put up with. Will second guess trip central next time. Even the staff at the bar at the front were unfriendly,which is so unusual for Cuba. Would not even recommend to my worst enemy.

Disappointed

Good resort

The good- privilege rooms are first class. Premium drinks are spot on. Excursions are top notch. personnel on the privilege side of the resort are awesome. The bad- the food and service from the a-la-carte and the buffets are 2 star resort at best. French fries are good though but usually empty.

Not what we expected!!!

Let's just say this hotel was not what we expected. Reviews and ratings were high but i'm not sure why. There were cockroaches all over the resort, running across the dinning room tables and even in our room. The hotel never had clean beach towels, we used the same towels for 4 days. Our sheets and towels were dirty and stained. They constantly ran out of food items and had none left to refresh the menu. Not a great experience. I don't recommend this hotel!

Not as good as last year

This was my third time at this resort. I’ve always been really happy with it, but it seems to be let go. This time I find the resort has let a few things go. We used to have a welcome drink when we arrived as well as coffee and tea in the rooms. Now they don’t do that anymore. The chairs and table for the balcony is not there anymore. What was on the buffet wasn’t really as good as it was. I have to say though that the staff was as gras always and the rooms are extremely clean. And of course the beaches are exquisite. Unless you’re going just for the beaches I wouldn’t recommend it

Ocean Vista Azul

Overall the hotel grounds were very tidy and the room was quite modern. Pools were well kept and clean. Servers did their best to keep up but seemed to be understaffed. Every meal took at least an hour to get our food and they even forgot some of the order on more than one occasion. Never got our welcome drink or rum bottle even after reminding them twice. The bar service at the privilege pool area was amazing as well. The infinity pool off the lobby is amazing with the view of the ocean. The beach area was nice but sort of small for the amount of people that use it. Need to go early to save a chair or good luck finding a spot. Way too many people reserving spots who are never even there using it.

Had a great time

The resort was fine but Yanetsy made it by her personal touches in our room and her constant happy presence . You could not prebook the alacarte restaurants so it made it very difficult to get into .

Worst experience ever

Absolutely disappointed with our stay. Rooms were typical although we had dirty used soap and towels were sparse. Pool was ok but the large bed loungers were broken or filthy and smelled disgusting. Two very small beach areas with not enough lounge chairs crammed together with other resorts. Beaches were rocky and had lots of coral and shells making it very difficult to walk on and get in the water. Absolutely the worst food ever with the same items being served each day. Long line ups due to poor staffing in the snack bars. Waited over an hour for a hotdog. Alcoholic drinks were hit or miss with not as much of a selection as other resorts. Staff didn’t go out of their way to help and weren’t all that friendly. Definitely should not be rated as a 5 star, a low 3 is being generous. Very over priced resort without the 5 star amenities!!!!

Awesome Resort!

We had a terrific family vacation. A beautiful resort and I’m looking forward to going back. We upgraded to Privilege and were not disappointed. Amazing service, very nice restaurants and great people. Our family enjoyed the wonderful Cuban culture. Pools and beaches are all within a short walk.
