Amazing Resort

This resort was fantastic. Beautiful rooms, very well kept, very clean, fantastic restaurants and amazingly friendly staff. Although we didn't travel with our kids, it was very easy to notice what a great family resort it is, as well as being a great place for just adults, providing you stay on the adults only side. The only complaint was the travel with Air Transat. Once we got there we waited about 1.5hrs for our luggage. Then when departing, we were picked up at 7am for our 1215pm flight so  [... read more]we sat in the airport for about 4.5 hours waiting around.

Amazing Resort

From the time me and my family arrived at the resort the service has been fantastic; the staff were very friendly and helpful. To name a few, Andrai at the front desk, Miguel at the coffee cart, Ramon lobby staff and Carlos at the Pez Vela beach restaurant, however all the staff were great. We stayed at the Eden building, which is located close to the beach and the pool. Not to mention the food, it's the best buffet food I have ever had, I also liked that the staff was constantly cleaning and replenishing dishes. I would definitely go back to Ocean Riviera Paradise.

It was okay hotel

I went to this hotel with my wife and the baby to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. There was alot of mixed reviews but in general we personally did not like the hotel. The front desk staff are really rude and the way they look at you is that we are the workers and they are the customers. We did not feel very welcoming at all from them. The front desk ask if we are here on vacation or celebrating anything, so we did say we are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and that was it.  [... read more]Once we went to the room and trying to make reservations for the restaurants but its showing our room is under someone else's name and not our name. we asked if they is any baby crib and they said they do have available and will bring to the room but never did. and every time I follow up on it they always give the same answer. But the staff at the restaurant's and the entertainment staff in the pool were really good. The food was really good also. It did not feel like a 5 star hotel really felt like a 3 star hotel. A lot of restrictions as where its all inclusive but you cannot get the drinks after a certain time and the food for room service is limited. This is our 2nd time in Mexico in playa del carmen but we stayed at a different hotel before and would go back to that hotel. The beach was very dirty was not able to go to the beach. But the rooms are nice and big, so i would not give 5 star.

ORP - Privilege Junior Suite Swim Up - All Inclusive

I was extremely happy with my experience with Sunwing and Ocean Riviera Paradise - I had a Privilege Swim up Suite Room 3115 King size bed Sofa bed Personalised check-in and check-out Bathrobe and slippers ​24hr room service Balcony with private jacuzzi Concierge Services were very helpful - We texted via Whatsapp and met up where required. - Booking my diner reservations each morning before I got up, helped me reserve sunbed at the Privilege beachfront as well. Made change [... read more]s as I needed them and helped me with a car rental for a day trip out of the resort. I went in June for 11 days - across Canada Day and 4th of July - Both holidays were celebrated in some fashion at the resort. My room was great, no issues with humidity as some have described, but being tropical region, everything smells slightly damp. Pools and areas very clean, and never a long wait at any of the bars ( Beso and Privilege) I didn't really go anywhere else. I am flexitarian, and I found the restaurant menus really hit or miss. Some nights/dishes were awesome, others not. I really liked the atmosphere and service at the Italian and Blue Moon, Privilege Restaurants. Pez Villa - During lunch and at dinner was really disappointing, - only the view at a sunset time tinner was lovely. The Steakhouse was far too noisy, Mexican Resto waitstaff /service was excellent, I did not do Route66 and even though the japanese is super popular, and entertaining , I was really disappointed at the fool Activity coordinators work very hard, and are super helpful Everything is easily walkable, but it can be nice to use the trollys too. I do think upgrading at purchase for Privilege rooms and services is worth the additional cost. Sometimes guests are offered upgrades at arrival, but in my opinion they did not get the best choice of room. I would recommend this Resort. I have been to a few in the Mayan Riviera, and even after the effects of a hurricane 4 years ago ( Privilege chill lounge is closed ) , the hotel is working hard to keep guests happy

Amazing and Beautiful Resort!

A place to go with the kids for sure. Friendly staff and amazing facilities. The number of things to do within the resort kept us busy and its truly a family oriented resort. Did not even leave the resort except for their shopping tour which is a free option. Cannot go wrong in terms of cost and the value. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful huge resort

The food was amazing although we were only there a short time for business so we ate at the buffet. Room service was excellent and prices were very reasonable All the staff were very polite and professional, from lobby to security The grounds are beautifully manicured and well kept The room was an amazing surprise for the size and decor. Absolute Paradise!!

An AMAZING resort!! Grounds: It is so airy and fresh and clean. The grounds are immaculately kept. The main lobby is beautiful and the air conditioning is perfect. There was no garbage anywhere. And the restrooms were always clean. Staff: The staff are so friendly- always smiling. William, Lily, Leo, Santi, many bartenders, Pablo, Daniella. We ate at La Loncanda, Steakhouse, Sakura, Privilege Lounge, and the buffet Amaranto, and the ice cream parlour. So happy with the variety and our butler made our reservations so we didn’t have to wait (Privilege Service). Beach: The sargassum (seaweed) sucks. But they tried their best with having people cleaning up as best they could. That’s a nature thing. But we did go in the water still. The ocean water is still awesome. Pools & Entertainment: We loved the Privilege pool since it wasn’t rowdy. Very relaxing. The pool itself is nice. There was always something going on at the other pools. It seemed that everyone was having fun. If you wanted to relax, you could. If you wanted activity, you got it. Overall: I highly, HIGHLY recommend this resort. It was so clean and the service was exceptional. I appreciate how the staff still wore masks and there was still a sense of vigilance in keeping the place clean. But we didn’t feel like we were restricted in any way. I can’t wait to go back.

Amazing resort

I was very please with this hotel the grounds are beautiful the beach not so much as there's loads of seaweed at the moment but still can go in .....the hotel has many restaurants and all the food I ate from room service to the restaurant and buffet are 10 out of 10 perfect dishs Flavor portions great I was in the elbso side adult's only I had swim out the swim out need a great clean but they did clean when there I used it all morning and afternoons in the pool I have to say I travel a lot and [... read more] the booze at this hotel is not watered down love it the rooms are clean and done twice a day I don't have one bad thing to say I definitely will go back 😀

Disappointing resort stay

The beach was extremely disappointing, there was so much seaweed, not enough chairs and every time i turned around there was someone trying to sell me a massage or souvenirs, etc.. The lack of service in the buffet was a real shame, they could get a drink order right because of the language barrier from spanish to english and extremely under staffed. The excursion (tulum ruins, cenote, snorkeling) was well done, our tour guide Jesús was amazing, we did find the cenote and snorkeling a bit rus [... read more]hed and wished we could have spent more time there. There were only a few fish species to see unfortunately. The restaurant lines were long so we resorted to the buffet a few times for dinner. When we did eat in the restaurants (steak house, italian and blue moon) there were only a max of 5 main entrees to choose from and there was very little wiggle room to change something on the dish (baked potato to mashed potato for example). One of my biggest upsets was the lack of consideration for those with food allergies. I have a severe tree nut allergy and everything in the buffet was not properly labelled or every chocolate dessert was made with hazelnuts (same with the crepe station). Many of the restaurant dishes also had nuts and were not able to made without them which limited my choices. Unfortunately I will not be going back to this resort, nor do i recommend it and most likely will not return to Mexico.

Loved the resort

My 8 year old daughter had a great time, we loved the hospitality and the service is prompt. Rooms were cleaned everyday. I highly recommend this resort for kids. Many restaurants for option. I would not give it a 5star I would say it’s a 4star property

Very nice hotel

As for Covid masks were required in all restaurants and in the lobby although lobby was not really enforced. The food was very good. The pools were excellent. The rooms were large clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly. Beach was not great so if that’s what you are going for I’m told go further south towards peurto adventurous. Overall this is a legitimate 4.5 to 5 star resort. Would highly recommend and definitely would go back (I’m not a beach person). Great Resort, Poor Food & Service

The rooms, pools, resort itself were all amazing! That being said, we were very disappointed in the quality of food and the service (reduced staff from Covid) Also the lack of nightly entertainment and how poorly the A La Carte’s were ran (also reduced capacity and staff due to Covid) We would try this resort out again after Covid is completely behind us and they are back to running at full capacity….but it would have to be at 4 star pricing, because that is what this resort was overall, at  [... read more]best.

Maybe for families on a budget

Cleanliness was less than expected, but we usually do 5 stars. Tiles missing from the pool, ring of mildew around the pool bar, bathroom floor not washed. Check in took 1 1/2 hours 😠 Food was okay. Mexican and Italian really good, Steakhouse was not worth the 1.5 hour wait, food was cold, but our server was lovely. Air conditioning didn’t work in our room for 2 nights. Huge resort

I'm not really a fan of giant resorts. Lots of walking...But other than that, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was great. The place was very clean. Rooms and resort were well kept. Not the best beach but still good.

Good resort, wouldnt book with airtansat

The hotel was nice, especially the food offering! I loved all those litlle cosy places to grab snacks or drink (the crepe place, the smoothie bar, the ice cream parlor, the café! The bowling was a nice touch as well. I booked the privilège suite and it was very handy to be able to reach the buttler on my cell. The beach is rocky (broke 3 toes on a rock) but still nice without algae. The airtransat service on-site was not good. The information shared for covid testing at the hotel was not accur [... read more]ate and we ended up running to playa del carmen last minute to get tested. Also we have been told that they could not answer questions with regards to airport transportation and kept refering us to the app. The app was down so we had to wait a long time in the lobby to make sure we dont miss the boss. Not as good, but still a great option!

we were at the original 2 years ago, at the time things were a tad better, only real current issue is lack of staff, other then that we still think its hard to beat for the money, ac vacations canceled our flight and we were moved, communication about what was going on was terrible. Thanks to Susan Snider from tripcentral she was great especially when we were having issues with canceled fligh

Awesome restort

The Ocean Riviera Paradise was an awesome resort. Service and restaurant choices were great. Entertainment was lacking but they tried hard but needed more seating in the outdoor court yard while the Entertainment was going on. Covid testing was fine at the resort but the Transat rep wanted us to do it off site through them which was more expensive we went with the resort and had our results back within 10 hours. Great value!

Resort surprised us as it was not receiving the best reviews yet maybe they were from unfair people? Rooms were nice, staff was great almost everywhere throughout. The property was quite walkable and the swimming pools (cooler than expected) were plentiful. Beach was a good size and the water temperature was amazing. Good swimming with very little coral. Food in buffet was ok, much better in the restaurants - Blue Moon and Steak House and Italian were our favourites. Very Pleasantly Surprised!

I am very glad I didn't take much stock in all the negative reviews, because this resort was amazing! All the extra time and effort that was put into the extra safety measures definitely did not go unnoticed, and despite the fact they were extremely short staffed, everything was still very organized, the rooms were always clean, the drinks were refreshing, and all the staff were very pleasant to speak to! The beach was also very nice, very soft sand, but the shore was a little rocky, so water sh [... read more]oes made swimming a bit more comfortable. The rooms were also great, very clean, and much larger than a lot of other resorts I've stayed at. It was also very humid when we were there, but they had de-humidifiers in every room, so as long as you set it properly and remembered to empty it as needed (it only took 30 seconds out if our day), then the humidity wasn't an issue. Check in took a bit longer than usual, but like I said, they were very short staffed so that was completely understandable. Also, the resort app was very useful, as it was always up to date with which restaurants and bars were open or closed each day (again they were short staffed, so they rotated one restaurant to be closed each night, while all the others remained open). All in all, this vacation was definitely one of the best I've been on! You could see how much hard work everyone was putting in to make our week great, and it was definitely very appreciated!

Would not recommend.

Guest Services no longer exist; no one answers front desk or guest services. Check-in is excruciating with no regard to people having travelled many hours with children. Zero consistency among staff regarding restaurants, bowling, etc. The rooms are not well-maintained and could not get a/c past 24.5 degrees even with maintenance visit. No children-friendly foods (like chicken nuggets, fries). Buffet consistently out of primary foods. The buffet near the childrens pool (One of the reasons we boo [... read more]ked) was shut down with no warning and was never opened - incredibly inconvenient with young children. Mask wearing is inconsistent and impractical - sometimes need to wear at swim-up bars, sometimes not - you never know which it is. Restaurant times are incorrect. Ocean is rocky here - not good for snorkeling if you are looking to. Beach is also about 1km walk from daisy rooms and shuttles come very infrequently if at all. I have been to 9 different resorts in Mayan Riviera, and this was one of the worst. Some can be attributed to COVID19, but I have never seen morale/services be so poor.
