Amazing beach, so so resort

World class beach but has lots of sand fleas. Bring bug spray. Rooms and hotel outdated and in need of repairs. Staff super friendly and helpful. Cuba going through a recession so not all food options available all the time (bread) and 24 snack bar closed or no options many times.

Nothing special

we had no hot water, tv .telephone ceiling fan first night.after a meeting the next day with our rep they fixed hot water .others had in our unit had no hot water for 3 day's.they said if tv wasnt fixed next day we would not have any for the week.it wasn't fixed next day so i made the repairs myself by pulling out desk and a makeshift connection to cable that had come apart.we never did have telephone service or ceiling fan .they ran out of beer twice in pool area in early afternoon. food wa [... read more]s better than expected .service was good.weather good.i had a visit to local clinic for reaction to bug bites.

No beer resort

The biggest dissappointment was Sunwing's decission to add stop to Saskatoon on our way there and back, which added extra 2 hours each way. Hotel run out of beer several times during our 7 days stay. They did not have clean beach towels for exchange either. Food was not great but it was expected for Cuba hotel. Beautiful beach and crystal clear water were there to compensate for everything bad. Staff is very friendly.

The resort was clean and nice

The resort was great, service good , beach amazing best beach. at night the walkways were dark and you could not see, not good when there are holes everywhere. Also at about 6 pm every night they fogged the resort for masqitos, they really should warn the people so they could be in there room or the restaurant because the stuff is toxic and stinks. Amazing Time

Can't say enough about our visit to Grand Memories Santa Maria. Amazing staff, Hector (Manager). Andy Fernandez (Customer Service), Laney (Entertainment Team) amazing! kept us entertained. Marisnae, Chapotain (Best Servers, can't thank you enough for taking care and looking out for our family) and all the others at the resort; went above and beyond with care, service and to assist with any issues that came up. Good vacation

Stayed with a young child (1 y/o) and family members in April 2018. The resort did accommodate to have 3 adjacent rooms, but this required quite a bit of effort on our part (to return to the front desk on various occasions and move rooms once). This could have been handled better. The service at the resort was excellent. Waiters at the buffet had the tables cleaned in a timely manner and were always available to bring anything we needed. Compared to other resorts I've stayed at, this [... read more] definitely stands out. The beach and resort grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The buildings are not new, but reasonably maintained. There are 3 parts to this resort (we stayed in the middle one). The one adjacent to ours mirrored our resort. The one to the other side, Santuary, was for adults only (no access to their amenities). There is a very nice local market accessible directly from this resort with a bell tower to climb with great views. Highly recommended.

Beautiful time, beautiful people, blessed vacation!

This was my second time back to Memories in Santa Maria. The first time the resort was not divided into 3 sections, so there were some changes with regards to where I was able to access; however, it was still an amazing time and the personal care of the staff and managment was amazing. Being a solo traveller, this is something very important to me. Very safe and able to even walk about in the evening on my own. I was humbled at how they have recovered from Hurricane Irma which devestated so muc [... read more]h of Cuba; but, the grounds, the beach and the buildings were brought up to a standard that certainly was impressive and respected. Being an off season time, they were more than willing to allow you to change things up with the A La Carte restaurants, and were able to really offer that specialized care and the time to get to know them personally. It was such a blessing and is one of the resasons why I love to travel at this time of year. Will I return.....absolutely if the Lord is willing. I'm not sure I would enjoy it as much if were in season as it is a huge resort; but, for me and the time I chose to go, it was perfect......no lineups, no problems with longue chairs and getting your reservations...of course the upgrading to diamond club was worth it. In closing, the hurricane has really improved the beach in some ways.....one thing I really noticed was that when you went into the ocean, it was deeper and you were able to swim and play in the beautiful waves that were available on some days...... Amazing Resort!!

This resort was amazing. I’ve only been to Cuba twice and have been to this resort both times and would go every time. The staff were amazingly friendly and made you feel at home especially Alberto, who was working at the pool in the Paraiso resort... amazing! The rooms were super clean, cleaner than most hotels I’ve stayed at in Halifax. The food was fantastic as well with tons of variety!! If you have to choose , choose this resort , hands down:)

Nice place

Ocean is the best!!! If you like snorkeling this place is not for you. Room was good, cleaned every day. food was pretty good but repetitive.Nobody in my family had no stomach problems. A little bit slow service.

Grand Memory Santa Maria Cuba

My husband and have been in Cuba (Cayo Coco and Varadero) and three times in Cayo Santa Maria and first time at that resort. Great resort, great people, good food, good service, nice and clean pool and last the beach is amazing as usual. Will recommend that resort anytime. Tks!

Great Family resort

We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Memories resort. The beach was by far the best beach I’ve ever seen, staff was wonderful, food was very good, lots of kids at the resort for our kids to play with. The entertainment was best in class! Great week and we would go back for sure!

Exceptional time!

Classy hotel, pool, beach, food, drinks; entertainment could be better though, was good a couple of times within our week stay but that's about it. We will remember our trip for long for sure however and are already thinking about a next one.

Great resort

Very clean resort, spacious rooms, staff is awesome, they make sure that you have a good time, very good service. The beach is amazing, the staff on the beach are incredible. The food was fine. I would go back anytime!!

Not good resort

I will tell what happened to me at this hotel to be fair i arrived with my daughter who required to have a room in the 1st floor which she got the second day of our arrival as soon as we entered the room we found two insects which was disgusting so we asked for spraying the room then my daughter asked the room service for a bottle of water to feed her baby which we got after 2 days and after asking for it tens of times and in this time we had to share the bottles provided to my sons room after t [... read more]hat noone came to clean my daughter 's room for almost the first 2 days The other thing is the restaurant which was full of flies where we couldn't eat our meals and i had a stomach flu which was probably due to the dirty in the place.

Ok Resort

The dining room was full of bugs and there were no good food varieties. I am usually not picky when it comes to food but at the end of the week we were all sick from the food served there. The rooms were clean but seem like they were not renovated for a long time. For someone who wants to spend most or some of their day in the room watching tv or whatever I don't recommend this hotel.

Good resort

Very good resort. Extremely big and clean. The food is typical Cuban food, but you can always find something to eat. The beach is fantastic with clear blue waters and lots of fish. Great for fishing !

First Time in Cuba

It was a very fast check in. We were greeted with drinks. The bell boy brought our bags upstairs for us. We were on the 3rd floor and had a nice view of the resort. Walking up and down three flights of stairs at least twice a day provided lots of exercise, but for the older crowd I would recommend staying on the ground floor. The rooms were very clean. Our maid was a sweet heart. But there were some days that our new towels had stains, so we could not use the bath towel. They also brought b [... read more]ottled water on a daily basis to our rooms and restocked the fridge. Overall the resort staff were extremely friendly and provided great service. Most employees always had a smile on their face and would say hello when you pass by. The resort was well maintained. Every day the gardeners were out cutting the plants and trimming the trees. The pool was clean too. They had a sign with the PH of the water. There was an adult pool and a kids pool. There were places to rinse off your feet and shower through out the resort. You can exchange your beach towels btw 9:00am-5:00pm. It would be nice if you could exchange the towel after 5pm in case you wanted to do an evening swim. You would have to wait until 9:00 next morning to get a clean beach towel. We went to our sunwing intro session. The lasy was very informative. What I loved about her is that she did not try to upsell any extra excusions or extra trips. She just gave us gthe basics and everyhting we needed to knwo to have a great stay! The beach was gorgeous. Clear water, white sands, no litter, a few fish (but very early in the morning). The beach guy was always ready to get you a lawn chair and dust it off for you. There was also a sailing boat that brought people out into the ocean for a boat ride.They played nice music on the beach and drinks were available at the bar. The buffet food was not good. Very repetitive, and very few options to select from. The good thing though, there were a few prep stations where the chefs would cook raw meat on the spot for you. You could select your seasoning and you would also know what ingredients are in the food. The waiters and chefs were very friendly. There was an incident where a waiter broke a glass and the pieces of glass were on the floor. The staff did not sweep up the pieces of glass on the floor. It was somewhat hazardous, esp if a child walked by. There was a telephone room to make international calls. The prices were reasonable. There were diff phone booths so that multiple people can make phone calls at the same time. The theater shows were very entertaining. There was a ballet troupe that performed extremely well (felt like a live ballet segment). Cuban night was also lots of fun, great song selections and upbeat performances. It was also nice to see that the dancers would pick participants from the audience to join the performances on diff nights. There was a retro party one evening in the market. They played lots of classics from the 60s and 70s,which was cool, and some songs from the 90s. We practically danced the night away, and there were people from all ages just grooving together. The market is a far walk form the grand memories side, but its worth the stroll. The market has a bowling alley, an ice cream parlor, and lots of nice shops. There is also a tower that you can climb which will give you a 360 view of all three resorts in the area and the ocean. The hotel also offers rides around the resort to help people move from one end to the next. Everything runs on cuban time, which takes a while to get used to. If a restaurant sign states it opens at 1pm, most likely the doors will open btw 1:30/1:45pm. If the beach towel hut states it opens at 9am, you won't be able to get a new towel until 9:30/9:45am. The pace is a lot slower, which is a diff change if you are someone from a fast paced city. Overall I had a great time. Shout out to Danys, Pedro, Soleil, and Aryanis for great service!

Amazing Staff and Resort

This is our third time at this beautiful resort and will be going back again next year. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted like family by all the staff that remember us, it felt like home from the beginning to the end. The beach is spectacular as always and our friends at the beach made us very comfortable. The food is much better at the Grand than at Paraiso. Also Mangoes were in season so it was a major bonus. We loved every minute of our time there and cannot wait for next year.

This resort was awful

At this resort the phones did not work in our room. The lock to front door was not working and when you ask for service to fix the lock they did not give any urgency to my request. TV went on the blink just before we left. There were cockroaches in the dining room with lots of dead flies. My wife nearly got her lips cut with broken wine glass. The grounds were keep in pristine conditions and also public areas. The bathrooms were awful and most of the time some stalls was not working or no water. [... read more] We/I got lots of mosquitoes bites and I'm still recovering today from those bites with prescription medication. Some folks from our same town (Stouffville) said there were bed bugs and some got bitten very badly. There was also mosquitoes/bug truck going around spraying white smoke that also killed some folks who had asthma.

Nice trip

Over all it's was a good stay the only complaint I have is the lack of Wi-Fi and the food at the buffet. We ended up going off the resort to eat. Also the bank there was a little shady and tried to pull out and extra 200 out of my account we ended up going off resort to a more legit bank
