Catalonia Montego Bay: Peaceful and relaxing

This is our third visit to this resort,previous to the new name and new owners, this resort was the holiday inn. Although it is tired and needs renovation, it’s in the process now and we hope to return to see the upgrades next year. The main reasons for returning is the Staff,so friendly, the food, always tasty and plentiful, it’s quiet and always loungers on the beach. The gardeners did a great job, grounds very neat and tidy. The beach was raked every morning. The a la cartes were very good and you could always get a reservation for dinner. The buffet was very good as well. The ladies at the front desk were wonderful and check in was a breeze. This is not a high end resort, but was clean, well kept and comfortable. We felt safe and our items could be left on the beach without a worry. I would recommend the Catalonia to everyone, couples, singles and families. There was good security and no vendors bothering you on the beach Or in the resort. The swimming area needs to be addressed, too shallow. Hoping the new owners keep with the Jamaican feel and don’t overprice next year.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice and clean resort

The staff are excellent, very beautiful and clean resort Small resort with lack of pool entertainment and music as well as nightlife Not being able to get in a la carte restaurants Eating buffet all week got old Variety of beer would be nice as they only had modelo Overall our week was great weather and service was excellent

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Best all inclusive I have been to

I have been to the RIU in Bahamas and Aruba, the Catalonia surpasses them both. The food is superior, the service is friendly, courteous, and excellent. The cleanliness of the grounds, your room, your balcony is by far the best I have experience at any resort. This is our second time we have stayed at the Catalonia.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort

We just came back from spending a week at the Catalonia in Costa Mujeres. Overall, our stay was great, super relaxing. The property is beautiful and well taken care of. The resort is a beautiful blend of modern architecture and lush landscape. We did book the privileged suite which gave us a couple of parks the first being you’re on the top floor with a very large balcony, including a shower and tons of seating. With booking the privileged suite you get access to the beloved restaurant that is only for those guests. The there was good. The menus are not huge, but there are always options to pick from. The rest of the à la carte restaurants in the resort or good I wouldn’t say fantastic. The Teppanyki table was our favourite dinner we had at the resort. The buffet was always good with quite a bit of variety. We ate all of our breakfast there and our lunches there as there were just more options for me. My biggest complaint of the entire trip would be the lack of gluten-free options that were either not clearly marked or nonexistent, especially when it came to desserts not a single pastry cookie or any sweet was available gluten-free. The only desserts were ice cream and sorbet’s and at the Beloved restaurant, I was able to get a delicious Crème brûlée. They did have a gluten-free bread available that was actually quite good but things definitely need to be better marked. If you are full celiac, I feel like you would have difficulties. That being said, I didn’t starve. But I have had better options at other all inclusives. The pools are some of the cleanest I have seen at an all-inclusive resort. I usually never swim in them, but went in several times, the beach is more of our thing. The beach is beautiful, white sand, and not too much seaweed, and it kept pretty clean by the machine that comes by. As far as the water goes, it was a little rough for my liking but it was beautiful and you could walk forever in either direction as the beach is long. We enjoyed the beach more on our excursion to Isla Mujeres. Getting chairs on the beach was not too difficult, but we did have a privileged area with our booking that is roped off. I keep in mind the resort was not at full capacity. I feel like it would be more difficult if the resort was fully booked. The pool area was definitely busier and most loungers were taken up early in the morning. There’s lots of bar options down at the beach plus they serve drinks right to your lounger as well, which is always great. Check in and check out was probably one of the quickest and smoothest we’ve ever experienced at an all inclusive resort. And final note would be the staff, they work super hard and we’re extremely kind in all aspects. Always going the extra mile for anything you ask for. Although tipping is never required we always do at all inclusives. These people work extremely hard long days and the tips are very much appreciated.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Beautiful Resort

The beach was very nice but not a lot of shade. The week we were there it was very windy and we couldn’t really go in the ocean because of the waves. Rooms were suites and very nice. Service was good and food was good as well. There were lots of families so I would not recommend for a couples trip.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Amazing resort!!

Everything at this resort was great!! The staff, the beach, the pools, the service, the rooms, the entertainment, the spas, the gym, the food etc! It is very family friendly! We loved all of it! The only negative thing is the timeshare sales tactics that they use! The lady that approached us said it was a welcoming breakfast she was giving us at one of their posh restaurants and a free massage at the spa. When we sat down with the next person she brought us to, it was exactly that, a timeshare pitch. I feel they wasted our 1.5 hours and we feel deceived. If someone says "no" it's 'no"... stop pressuring. We will know better next time. Also, everything is payable in USD at the resort which is very expensive based on the fact we are Canadian. There should be a Canadian option as well.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Good resort

Guests reserving beach chairs each morning saving up to 12 chairs at a time, found it hard to find any after 9:00 am. Lots for exclusive guests. Only could book specialty restaurants 2 days in advance. Couldn’t get anything booked except for 10:00 pm unless you booked 12:01 am…never managed to get a good reservation in 2 weeks. Food in buffet relatively good although could have been warmer. Most things just warm, and vegetables usually not cooked enough.,couldn’t get hard liquor in buffet, ju [... read more]st wine soft drinks. Rooms very spacious and comfortable..all room staff excellent and English speaking. In fact all hotel staff great and very accommodating..front desk not as much !! Resort washrooms hardly visible and not near the beach area. Great many children and small babies. Pool nice normally pretty quiet, but family’s pool very near. Happy noisy fun pool was just that….very noisy.

Catalonia Yucatan: First stay there, but not our last!

The grounds are well kept and very pretty. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom is large and has a clothes line in the bathtub to dry your swim suit on. No hair dryer but we didn't miss it. Pools are well maintained and are the perfect temperature to cool you off. The beach is a little rocky but there is a clear path on one side that takes you to crystal clear waters with a sandy bottom. Many people were snorkeling and enjoying the sea [... read more] life. Buffet had great options at each meal.

Catalonia Yucatan: Good and bad

To begin, having stayed in numerous all inclusive resorts, we have Never not been able to enjoy a Mamosa with our breakfast. The late bar opening time of 11:00am is unheard of in all of our experiences. That coupled with early closures as well, was somewhat disheartening to say the least. The Catalonia was advertised as a resort with white sandy Beach, which was a real draw for us, only to meet with unaccessible waters, due to immense amounts of seaweed, that was worked tirelessly to rid of,  [... read more]to no avail. Understandable, that this is an issue here, but it should not be promoted otherwise. It is stated that pool chairs cannot be reserved, but it was very difficult to get one, as they were always taken with towels on them very early in the morning. We usually ended up sitting with our feet in the pool. The food was the biggest disappointment of all. I actually, came down with what was suspected of food poison and lost a day and a half in my room. The buffet was redundant, and the two restaurants were an even bigger disappointment. It would have been nice to have access to an activity board as we found a lack of entertainment and music especially. All that said, we did appreciate the well manicured and beautifully kept grounds at this resort.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Catalonia bavaro

Needs a refresh. Most bathrooms are rough. Buffet mediocre. Main buffet is terrible. Service is non existent. Staff pretty good at beach buffet and specialty restaurants. Our service got better when they realized we were tipping well for every meal. Beautiful beach. Most privilege advantages not available. 9 hole Golf finally worked after negotiating fora better price. 200$ for 9 rounds instead of 60$ per round.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Relaxing Resort

Stayed at Catalonia Royal Bavaro. All the staff were great, especially the front desk and the pool servers! Resort is on the more quiet side, but if you wanted more activity you could just walk next door to the family resort. The pool was great and warm! Restaurants were wonderful. The rooms were a good size but dated, could use some updating. The resort was clean, even the bathrooms by the pool. Took advantage of the spa and had an amazing foot massage! Catalonia Royal Tulum: A bit of Paradise!

The Catalonia Royal Tulum is a beautiful resort carved out of the jungle and situated on one of the most beautiful beaches, Xpu-Ha, pure white sand and crystal clear water. We were attracted to this resort for several reasons, the location, it's size and the fact that it is adults only. The grounds, buildings and facilities are immaculate. The staff have definitely been trained to deliver exceptional customer service in all areas of the resort. The beach and the pool area are pristine, with plenty of loungers, services and activities. Guests love the bar in the Palapa and swim up bar. The lobby is a great place to chill in the evening often with entertainment and another great bar Margaritas. It was hard to leave this piece of paradise, we will definitely return.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Perfect holiday

This is our fourth trip to Catalonia. Three times on the family side and one time on the adult side we are already looking into rebooking for this October on the adult side and once again with our entire family next February as well on the outside. Our trip was amazing and everyone had a fantastic time. I have no complaints whatsoever about anything at this resort. Our group was split up amongst three buildings, and we were not in the buildings that we had requested. Hopefully, our next trip our request request can be made. Catalonia Riviera Maya: Excellent resort for relaxing

This was my second time at a Catalonia chain resort and this one didn't disappoint. The service provided by everyone (and I mean everyone) was impeccable. The resort grounds were very clean and there was a variety of activities at the main pool all day (make sure to be up early to save your chair or you will lose out!!). The buffet was good with lots of variety. The a-la-cartes were very easy to book (despite previous reviews) and most you could book a couple days in advance, except the tepp [... read more]anyaki. I recommend upgrading to the Privilege Premium Deluxe room. It was a very modern, clean room with all the bells and whistles. We were in room 418, so if you face the back like we did, it can be a bit noisy as it's a route for the service trucks. You also get to go to the B-Loved restaurant (and that was delicious) and have the use of Pure chill out bar, which is a mere 10 steps from the edge of the pool. Burgers restaurant is also a must try, as is the juice bar, Maloo!! Wi-Fi was very good throughout the hotel. If you are looking for a beach, this resort is not for you – there is a very small beach for Privilege guests that isn't rocky (the other side is very rocky) and the larger beach area is at the sister resort next door. It's very safe as it's in a gated community and we walked 10 minutes down the road to the marina to check out the shops and cafes/restaurant. Or you can rent a golf cart from Paul who is out front of the hotel daily. There is a golf course close by, but seriously overpriced. Check out Nauti Burro and Munchys down by the marina – both make an amazing margaritas.

Catalonia Yucatan: Not worth the money

The whole vacation about the hotel was disappointing,only serving one type of beer,Modelo,and I don't drink draft beer,only at the swim up bar,,no pool liquor service,,had to get up and get your own drinks,,very poor service,,buffet was terrible,,same type of food every day,,hardly any variety,and ala carte,had to down load the app,,and couldn't get on the app( very disappointed) it seemed that we had to do everything ourselves,,get up at 6a.m.every morning to put a towel on a lounge chair,,ther [... read more]e were no extra lounge chairs anywhere,, upon checking in for our buffet dinner,the lady directed us to sit at a table that had a used napkin,and that was it,no tableware,table wasn't clean,no napkins,very poorly presented,the lady said she would be right back,,we waited 10 minutes,then finally my wife got up and took all the silver ware and napkins from another table,,there was no personal service at all,at any time,,even when we looked online at your resort,,it looked beautiful,we found out that the pictures taken were when the resort was first built,,this to me is false advertising,misleading,,

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice resort but would not return

The resort is small, pretty, clean and friendly. Shows and entertainment were good We got the privileged package but nothing other than different colour beach towels differed from the regular package. We had a renovated room but not in the privileged section, not two beds we requested ahead, no a la carte reservations ,except the included Bloved which was just ok. The reservation system is a bad joke, we tried every day before 8am and were not able to book one. There is not enough chairs around [... read more] pool and beach. The lobby bar and sitting space way too small for the amount of guest, not possible to find a seat! The buffet was ok, great selection of fruits, very few deli or cheese options. Never seen smoked meats or fish/sushi. No themed dinners, food very repetitive and not warm enough. Compared to food options we had at other Mexican resorts we went to , there are very limited choices. Also couldn't get a late check out (our flight was very late at night) as promised by one of privileged extras.

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Amazing

Beautiful grounds , public areas and dining! Everything was truly amazing ! Gorgeous beach, best beach we have been to and we have been to many in the Caribbean. Can’t say enough good about this resort. The service was exceptional and the cleanliness was incredible!

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Wonderful Resort!

We went back to this resort Feb 2025 after our stay there Feb 2024. We enjoyed it so much. Wonderful staff. Excellent food. Nicest room we've ever had. No bites on my ankles at the beach. Strongly recommend this resort.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice resort

The resort had awesome bars and restaurants, although I found the restaurants hard to book. The buffet rooms had a great assortment of good food. The layout of the resort made it extremely easy to navigate. Our room was good, but if the bath tub on the deck was made into a hot tub, that would put it over the top. I have been to better beaches, but while snorkelling I did see a lot of marine life in the water. Overall, it was a great experience and I would return for another week some day.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Great Resort

First the good. The grounds were well groomed, the food in Bloved and a la carte dinners were delicious. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The bedrooms were clean and updated (was told our building was newly renovated). We enjoyed the amenities and had a fantastic time. We found the size of the resort was perfect to get around in. While we apprecia [... read more]ted the location of out rooms, it was very central in the resort as we were in the Privileged rooms, our nights sleeps were not restful at all. Building 3's stairwell was directly across from the building that housed the laundry, supply room and dish cleaning area. The noise at night that came from there was very loud, and reverberating up the stairwell and into our rooms. The doors to the rooms are very thin and need to be sound proofed. Also the path from that building out to the rest of the resort ran right past our patio door. All the transporting of laundry, booze bottles etc to the rest of the resort were moved down that path in carts that had plastic wheels. These deliveries were made at all hours of the night and would constantly wake us up as they went past. As mentioned above, if the doors where soundproofed it would help to buffer the noise of the other guests coming and going. For most of our stay we had 2 rooms that were together and had young people in them. They did not respect any other guests, and banged their doors and talked loudly when they left at 11pm and returned in the wee hours of the night. The other recommendation I would make is to have more shading around the pool areas. There is not enough! Overall I would return to this resort, I would just never stay in building 3 or in a room along that path.
