Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Lacking in Luxury
We booked the Luxury side; unfortunately it lacked in luxury. Only one day of 10 for turn down service, always asking for wash clothes, bath mats, no robes/slippers, ran out of premium liqueurs/liquors at luxury bars, limited bar service at luxury beach.
Staff was great, food - especially Jamaican cuisine was great.
The good beach is on the Grand side - loooong walk.

Samsara Cliff Hotel: Will stay here again. Great value for money. Highly recommend.
ROOMS: Love at first sight. We were in the Sea Vuz units on the first floor, steps away from the infinity pool with spectacular views of the cliffs. Modern, clean. Just bring your own hair dryer, body wash and so on.Â
SERVICE: We were very happy - friendly, attentive staff. Tina was a standout - she noticed the details (our names, anticipated our needs and so on).
MEALS/DRINKS: Hearty, delicious meals. Wide selection on slower evenings when they did the al la carte dinners and lunches. R[... read more]ivaled meals at larger, pricer all inclusives. More variety can easily be found in the local restaurants in the area if desired. Wide variety of drinks on the all inclusive menu.Â
CLEANLINESS: Spic and span. Always someone cleaning around the property.
VIEWS: Stunning views of the cliffs, but there is an opportunity for beach views at sister property Legends. A free shuttle goes there twice a day.Â

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Amazing experience
We had a fabulous time at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. The facilities were incredible and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach and pools were beautiful. Well worth the extra money to stay at the Suites rather than the other Iberostar property for families. Food was plentiful and fine (not amazing but satisfactory). Enjoyed the entertainment as well.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Beautiful Resort!
Stunning resort with incredible pools, gorgeous beach with fine white sand and blue waters. Rooms are very roomy but a bit dated and the finishes are not perfect, but the service throughout the resort was excellent, very friendly and polite staff, always happy and helpful! Food was good, especially at the Italian restaurant (Poseiden) and seafood restaurant, but lobster and premium seafood were at additional costs. The other a la carte restaurants were average. Surprisingly, the buffet was excel[... read more]lent, perhaps better than the a la carte's. All in all, a fabulous place for a vacation, especially if you have children, lots of fun things to do. We stayed at the Lady Hamilton (the adjoining adult, sister hotel) and it was beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel.

Ocean Eden Bay: Wonderful staff and hotel.
This was a beautiful modern resort with many amenities. The staff members went out of their way to help with everything. It was very clean and quite often you could see the staff washing the floors and other surfaces. Everything smelled clean as well. I was completely impressed with the choices for restaurants and buffets. The Steak House was incredible. Bluemoon was a very elegant restaurant with many choices of well-prepared food. The Captains Market had a large variety of food throughout t[... read more]he day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was very clean and organized. There were often cooks there to prepare fresh omelets in the morning or steaks or fish on the grill for your lunch or dinner menu. Finally, they had someone there to make a fresh smoothie in the morning. If you stay at the Ocean Eden you can also take advantage of all the restaurants and facilities at the other hotel adjacent to Ocean Eden. So there was no lack of food or entertainment or drinks. The entertainment company called Blueline was unbelievable. Every single staff member went out of their way to entertain and make everyone feel at home. Every evening there was entertainment either outside or in the beautiful Senses theatre. At the pool, during the day, they had activities going on and they had an incredible way with people. I felt like I had known them my whole life. They went way out of their way to get to know everyone. We were greeted warmly at each encounter. The bartenders are amazing as well. They can prepare a variety of drinks and are always happy to meet your needs with a warm friendly smile. There were plenty of lounge chairs and shaded areas around the pool and at the beach. They were kept very clean. The beach is very nice although there are some parts that have some rocks that you need to walk around. But, it’s very easy to do. We were in the water every day and the breeze was incredible. We will go back.

Couples Negril: Wonderful resort but needs improvement
The resort itself is beautiful. The beach is out of this world…. White sand and blue water.
The resort needs more variety in food and lacked a cafe… there was no where I. The day to find a nice latte or cold shake with some baked goods.
It will be nice to have a place to relax and enjoy the cafe.
The lighting in the rooms need to be brighter.
The staff was outstanding and worked very hard to keep the place pristine.
Overall a wonderful resort.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Amazing time!
We went July 19-26th 2022. We had the most amazing experience! Perhaps the best part ( aside from the stellar ocean views and access ) was undoubtedly the staff! Amazing services and always genuine and with smiles. Special shout outs to Troy who was part of landscaping/ maintenance… his positive attitude brought a smile to our faces every single day! Also to Odette from the bar by our little beach. I believe it was called Bar Booze Liner . She was absolutely phenomenal! Also William from the [... read more]main bar was brilliant! Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Vacation July 2022
We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks in July of 2022 .The resort is very large and consists of a lot of walking. There is a cart service available however waiting for the cart took quite a long time and walking sometimes seemed much faster. The hotel itself was quite clean and the staff was following covid protocols most of the time. They were constantly having guests hand sanitize before entering any buffet areas and counting people as they entered to make sure it wasn't over populated. Nobody [... read more]wore masks unless they were very high up on the management scale which was a select few staff members. The food itself was not the best. There was not alot of variety, it was the same thing almost every single day and unfortunately the food was always cold despite us going right when the buffet opened. For a 5 star hotel I expected the food to be a little bit better. The beach was beautiful.
The grand side of the beach was a lot bigger than the luxury side so we often walked over to the other side of the hotel. The luxury side was very windy and the beach was smaller but if you do enjoy a nice quiet day at the beach the luxury side is very nice. Sadly the entertainment was very boring and sad. It was very loud when it didn't need to be and the entertainment was not very interesting sometimes the events listed on the board were not what was happening during the entertainment portion so that was a little bit confusing. The elevators were very slow so if you were on the high floor you had a lot of walking to do in the very hot weather luckily for us we were only on the 3rd floor so it wasn't too bad. We tried to order room service but it took a long time for anything to get delivered and when it was delivered some of the items we had requested were not brought to us. The rooms were always cleaned by a reasonable time during the day. Checking in and checking out of the hotel was fairly easy and done quickly. Overall we enjoyed our stay however we will not be returning back to this resort. Many members of the staff try to get you to join their privilege club which often became annoying they would ask you every day but they're just doing their job. Jamaica was nice and I would definitely go back but I would definitely change up resorts.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: 3* Hotel
I was at this about 1 year prior to the start of COVID. At that Time I gave it a 4* rating. RE this trip. the staff were still wonderful, friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was clean and spacious. However, things like wash cloths and bathmats were provided only when asked for and were not always available(no fault of the staff). All services were provided on a bare minimum basis.
Now that I am 5 years older than when I was last at the resort, there re certain areas that should be addres[... read more]sed to ensure the safety of seniors. the toilet bowl is so low that a senior of my height and age had extreme difficulty using it. Having a grab bar in that area and in the shower stall would make people of my age feel much safer and would reduce the risk of falls.

Ocean Coral Spring: FANTASTIC VACATION FOR FAMILIES!
We spent 1 week at this resort and give it a 4/5.
Resort: gorgeous. Well maintained. Very big, lots of walking.
Beach: not the greatest in terms of size, but we still enjoyed it. Rocky and seaweed.
Food: lots of options, but did have to wait for certain restaurants. We still managed and liked it.
Entertainment: GREAT! Mariah, AKA Skittles, is great with the kids. Kids club is great!
Pools: there's a lazy river, with no current so you're floating on your own, but it's fun! Swim up bars were[... read more] great!

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Huge resort
I will start with the positives. The food was amazing. A great variety every day. The a la carte's were also extremely good. The staff was friendly and helpful.
When we checked in I asked for a room near an elevator because I am handicapped. I should have asked for a room near the restaurant's and beach and pool. The original room we were in was close to an elevator but 45 minutes from the restaurants. I;m sure for a healthy person it would not have taken as long. I was very dishearten[... read more]ed and in tears because I felt that I was not up to the challenge. My husband went to the front desk and asked for us to be moved but they could not accommodate us. Next morning the Sun wing Representative called for a meet a greet and I explained my concerns. He made sure that by 2:00 pm we had been moved to a room on the ground floor near all the amenities. I will be forever grateful to him for his kindness. The hotel is not conducive for any one with a handicap. It is a much too large a resort. The rooms were beautiful. Well kept and very clean. Hat's off to the cleaning staff.
Also, the reason that I booked this hotel was because it had room service. Unfortunately they discontinued this a few months ago. So false advertising. I would recommend this hotel to people with no disabilities.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Apathetic staff. We won't return here
The service a this hotel is so poor. We would not ever consider returning there after our experience. The front desk staff are very rude and seem annoyed if a guest asks them anything at all. There were always a line up of angry customers at the front desk. The front desk staff were apathetic and did not seem to enjoy being there at all. Anything that a guest would ask them was met with disdain.
The housekeeping staff were friendly and our room was cleaned daily. When we asked for extra towel[... read more]s or shampoo it was no problem and the ladies were always smiling and polite.
The buffet restaurants were dirty and kept running out of plates. The waitstaff there seemed stressed and angry. Wait times were excessive. The "Knife" steakhouse restaurant had the absolute worst service and many tables got up and left the restaurant in the middle of the meal. We spoke to the manager and he said that many tables were complaining and he was sorry and would send an email to his boss. The tapinaki restaurant was very good. The food and the service were great. The beach was lovely.
The room was comfortable but the toilet ran non-stop the entire trip and the air conditioner did not work properly.

Riu Ocho Rios: Riu Ocho Rios
This hotel is top-notch in terms of food, staff hospitality, nightly entertainment, day-time activities and beach facilities. However, room maintenance could be better as we had to call on 2 separate occasions to get our toilet repaired (was not flushing) and the electrical outlets at the bedsides were not working. We therrfore had to charge our phones in the bathroom.
BUT THE MAJOR DRAWBACK WAS THE LACK OF ATTENTION TO COVID PROTOCOLS LEADING TO MY FRIEND AND I CONTRACTING COVID DURIN OUR ST[... read more]AY AT THE HOTEL!!!!
We were there over the July 4th weekend when the hotel was booked to capacity. Except for the front-desk staff, no other staff wore masks. There was no requirement for masking or social distancing of guests. The buffets were not adequately protected; the top shields over the food were not low enough to protect the food from contamination by spit from adults. There were no lower shields to protect the food from the children whose mouths and noses were at the same level of the food. These factors may have resulted on the jul 4t weekend being a super spreader.

Sunset at the Palms: It is not what you would expect.
It was our first trip to Jamaica with my wife.
Indeed, Sunset at the Palms is an unique small adults-only resort nested amongst tropical gardens and flowering plants. From outside "tree-house-style" guestrooms look incredibly "picture-perfect". Resort staff are very nice and accommodating; food is great as well.
However it is not what you might expect looking at the pictures and reading resort's description before heading to Jamaica. There are number of issues which you may not find in the[... read more] reviews. Here is what you should be aware about before getting there:
1. The hotel is located right besides major busy road. A loud noise and exhaust fumes are felt in the whole resort area, especially at the daytime. Our room happened to be right beside fence separating resort from the road. Noise and fumes were so unbearable so that on our second day we requested to move us further from the road. But it did not fully solve the problem.
2. Resort was built a while ago. It is not being properly maintained/repaired over the years and currently in "tired-and-wired" state. Guestrooms have sophisticated shower system with showerheads and multiple sprays installed directly onto the walls. It would be great it all worked the way it should. But when you turn on water it starts spraying and leaking all over the place. Good luck to make it work the way you want! There is no proper water drainage either - when you finish showering, your feet might be fully covered by water. While staying in the resort for one week only we changed rooms 3 times (!) for different reasons - "shower situation" is practically the same in all of them.
Another problem in the rooms which could have been fixed easily and inexpensively - electrical receptacles. Due to their age many of them are not tight enough to hold power plugs or charging devices to charge your phones, tablets, etc. So your charger might simply fall off an outlet while you are trying to feed your portable device.
3. WiFi performance is quite spotty. Despite strong WiFi signal, neither of wireless devices can hold stable wireless connection. For some mysterious reasons you continuously get a message on a device: "Failed to obtain IP address". So if you plan to stay connected during vacation, let alone work remotely - it would be a frustrating experience.
4. Beach. Has multiple issues, in my view.
4.1 To get to the beach you need to cross the road and go through the gate on the other side of the road. The gate is open from 7 am and closed at 7 pm. So you can't get to the beach early in the morning (before 7 am) and have a swim or simply walk on the beach late in the evening.
4.2 Towels. If you are early on the beach you should not have a problem to get a towel. But if you are a little late (say, at ~ 10am) - good luck to get a towel.
4.3 Swimming area in the beach is very small; it is marked/restricted by small buoys. Swimming beyond those buoys is strictly prohibited. So if you love swimming and/or snorkeling - the beach is not for you.
Overall, hotel's ranking in its present state should be somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Wouldn't go there again.
We just came back from grand Bahia principe I Jamaica on July 1st
This is our third time in Jamaica and our third time to Bahia principe( previously in Mexico and Dominican)
Unfortunately we didn’t get the trip we hoped for comparing to both the destination and the resort
The service was extremely bad. Most of the employees don’t even look at or ask you about what you need sometimes we waited for over 40 minutes to get scup of milk for my little daughter. Changing the plates wasn’t e[... read more]ven an option except with one or two waiters
The food wasn’t as expected. You almost can’t find anything to eat besides the grilled chicken and the pasta. A lot of the food tasted so fishy and strong. The bread was almost always stale and barely enough fruits for the guests.
The cold cutes didn’t even look good to try
Even though the a La carte restaurants were really good
The beach was nice as usual In Jamaica
The rooms were clean enough but we always had one towel less than what we needed even tough it was requested from the cleaning lady
The security and life guards did a great job doing their jobs properly and keeping kids and parents happy
The staff wasn’t that friendly as usual

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great family vacation resort
Older building with some areas needing better maintenance but quite comfortable. The room is large and has good air flow. Food is not quite 4-star plus but variety is amazing. This place definitely has something for everyone. Pools and children play pools are great. We North American probably be a little nervous about the water slides for kids. These slides are too fast for both my kid and my hubby. Overall is good. Recommended.
