Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Asbolutely fantastic!!!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here the end of April and had the most amazing time. The staff were so entertaining and nice and friendly. This resort is very clean and beautiful and brand new. We had a gorgeous suite and many different swimming pools to enjoy. There were many delicious choices for food and drinks. We had the very best time and hope to have the chance to visit here again. Cheers from Canada :) Mike & Kim

TRS Turquesa: Excellent resort... even in the rain!

Lots to do. Lots to see and lots of places to relax and enjoy the sun. We had three days of rain on our seven day trip and we still enjoyed our time. There are many covered walkways, golf carts to bring you from place to place, many restaurants and buildings to hang out in. Service was incredible and the food is endless and delicious. Any food you can think of or imagine, you could find there. Rooms were very nice, similar to a hotel in Canada. Highly recommend.

Cayo Levantado Resort: Amazing Resort

This Hotel was fabulous, luxurious and being on an island was fantastic. The grounds were beautifully kept, my little villa was fantastic with a king size bed and Jacuzzi. The Don Pablo restaurant was my favourite, however the buffet breakfast was awesome lot's of variety, as well as many choice's for lunch and dinner. Also 24hr room service, staff were amazing, helpful and always friendly. Everywhere was incredibly clean. Amazing visit, can't wait to go back.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Just okay

There were some excellent staff members with great customer service but this wasn't wide spread or consistent. It took 3 tries to move into a room which had enough beds, or had AC that worked or didn't have a leak from the heavy rain (understandably not the resorts fault about the rain but the receptions attitude was "don't worry, it's ok... you're on vacation" instead of doing something about it). The regular rooms at Bavaro are quite basic with no room service or hotel info in the room. The "S [... read more]un club" (VIP) rooms and service perks in the Sunscape Dominican part of the resort were more comparable to what you'd expect from a 4 star resort as a Canadian than the Sunscape Bavaro part of the resort. They have room service and more friendly and helpful staff. Juan at the Sun Club swim up bar is the best!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing resort

Loved it. Family vacation, service was great. Beach awesome. One issue was not enough clean towels at the pool for exchanging. Restaurants were good but hard to get reservations at 6 PM and we ate late a lot. There was construction directly behind our rooms and the construction crews worked day and until 11 PM at night. Noisy when in the rooms but not in the room that often. But they woke us up at 7 AM.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Graduvation 2017

This is our 11th trip to this Resort, so obviously we like it. We have celebrated milestone birthday's and anniversary's at this resort but this year was extra special as we brought our 3 adult children plus two girlfriends all of whom who were graduating from University, so it was a big celebration. After going to the same resort for 11 years you would think at some point they would have a record of your stay. They don't, after 10 years you get a grey braclet (not sure what the benefits are if any) but anyway I brought our bracelets from the previous year, well this totally through them off, they didn't know what to do. The manager came over and said to us look in my eyes and he said no don't recognize you and doubted us. He said wait in the lobby until he checked something out, it was an hour waiting to get checked in, why I don't know. The other inconsistency is making reservations for restaurants, 4 people, 4 different days and 4 different answers mostly no can't help you. Funny the 4th person made reservation for 3 restaurants no questions asked. This year not sure what the confusion was with reservation, the week before we were to leave we were contacted by Trip Central to stay the rooms that we were staying in at the Punta Cana part of the resort were going to be affected with the renovation and we were moving to the Palace resort, we said not a problem. I did recheck with Trip Central to see where we should check in at and she said check into the Palace lobby. When we arrived no one at the Palace knew what we were talking about and there was no reservation. We went to the Punta Cana lobby and they had our names, even when I showed the email from Trip Central they had no idea.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great time & great staff!

Hotel was great, resort grounds are clean and food is good for Dominican Republic. Seems that the resort was a bit overbooked when we first arrived but no complaints other than having to switch rooms the first day. Also the wait to check-in & get our rooms was a little lengthy.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Good resort

Very nice resort. Food at the buffet was very good, and the same for the main Don Pablo restaurant. However the Food at the Asian restaurant was awful. The beach does not have the fine white sands, and even the ocean is not clear. Friendly staff. Over all a good experience.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful resort - fairly new. Well maintained. Lots of flowering plants but only a few in variety. A few mango plants. Overall clean and good ambiance.

About 3 year old resort. Well manicured and well maintained hotel grounds. Beautiful swimming pools and good access to the beach. Man-made beach - basically corals covered with imported sand. Not clear water and there was about 30 cm (1 ft) drop in beach level (underwater) about two meters from the shore line - caught many people by surprise. Beach walk was limited to about 1 to 2 km on either side. Lots of private / resort development ongoing along the beach front. We walked every day and excep [... read more]t for a few places, where the sand covering was shallow, the overall ambiance was good. Missed the blue / green water of Punta Cana. Good buffet restaurants, good service and good food. Most service staff spoke decent English. Room staff - less so. Front staff - a little less attentive. Speciality restaurants were OK - nothing outstanding. Stick to sea food. Keep away from the Sushi and Japanese cuisine (in the Asian restaurant). There were no lobsters, few scallops. Mostly shrimps and clams. Took a day trip to Santa Domingo - Older guide (kept on calling us his family - every few minutes). Well versed but had problem with his English - perhaps French was better. Not worth the 75 US$ cost.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Definitely return

Adults only side was right choice. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Always chairs available at beach or pool. Food was good but warm to cool. Good variety. Disappointing night entertainment. Premium level gave you better choice of house wine.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Nice resort very large though

The Bavaro resort is quite nice although it's very large. Sometimes hard to find chairs at the beach and pools. When it's raining there's not much to do but drink in the lobby which is packed. Juan at the lobby bar is exceptional!! Always smiling and going above and beyond to make people happy. Food is great variety and quite tasty not sure why people complain about it. The entertainment staff is severely lacking and quite possibly not even present at this resort. Example: volleyball net in the [... read more] pool but pool staff guy was quite rude - wouldn't give us a volleyball- said we had to buy one from the lady with the snack shack 29$ US. This was highly disappointing considering all other resorts we have been to have daily volleyball in the pool as a way to get guests to socialize and have fun together. Overall the resort is so large I likely wouldn't go back. It's well kept always kept clean but aside from a handful of good staff, I feel there's a larger number of staff that treat you like you're an inconvenience For instance the towel exchange fella I actually offered him a tip if he'd crack a smile - nope! (I have experienced this Dominican wide though, not just here)

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Beautiful, Relaxing Resort

Our stay at this resort was great. It had all the amenities and more than enough variety to keep you busy and entertained for a week in paradise. Food, amenities, grounds, and staff were all excellent.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Honest Review

Rooms: need updating, very plain. The patio door had a very cheap lock. I suggest an upgrade to ocean view it was definitely worth it. The water was always hot and awesome water pressure. We stayed in room 1121 but heard horror stories about other rooms. Food - buffet was OK, usually cold food but a large selection. The A-la-Cartes were amazing. The snack bar was also awesome. Pool - large and clean but no swim up bar Beach - amazing - lots of shade and didn't have to fight for a cha [... read more]ir Staff - amazing and very hard working On the weekends the locals come and it's too busy. You're usually fighting for food at the buffet and the pool area is very crowded. The grounds were very well kept and it's a small resort. Very good for people who have limited mobility. We brought our baby and could bring the stroller everywhere except one a-la-carte above the pool. I suggest paying for the lock to the safe $21 US/week. We also paid $25US for 25 hours of Internet and would suggest that if wanting to have access to Internet all the time. Otherwise you have 1 hour free per day by the pool only. If the rooms were upgraded and the food was served hot we would consider going again if the price was right. There are definitely better places out there but for the price it's not too bad.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Beautiful Resort!

I knew I was going to like this resort, as soon as we pulled in. It's very tropical and the gardens are beautifully landscaped. We upgraded to the ocean view, it was very nice, but we would have been just as happy to be facing the pool or gardens. It is a small resort, so everything was very convenient to walk to. Lots of washrooms near beach & pool area, so that was a plus! The maids are extremely nice and our room was always clean as soon as we came back from our daily leisure at the pool [... read more]/beach. Plenty of palapas, so no need to rush early in the mornings to reserve as there is a "no reservation" sign beside each palapas. I was also impressed that instead of umbrellas at the pool area, they had the palapas, which made it feel tropical. I have no complaints about the food either - there is LOTS of selection. The resort is kept very clean. We were also amused by a few peacocks at the resort with their little ones - very sweet. I would definitely return to this resort. The only downfall was the ocean water - a little seaweed, but nothing to stop us from going for a dip on those hot days.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

Gran Ventana Amazing, fun, clean, great food , great service , would definitely go back or recommend to friends family of 6 (4 young adults) had a great time great weather and fun excursions

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Had a blast , great place ,

All was perfect . Clean place , great food, friendly people . Would do it again for sure.the beach was awesome and cleaned everyday . The pool was also very clean along with the rooms. All staff members where super friendly. BBQ at the beach was another great addition, And both flights were great, we took Transat both ways with lots of room , first a 3301 and then a 330 plane . Big seats and lots of leg room.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing Resort

Travelled to Cofresi Palm this past week and We have nothing but good to say about this resort. Never a dull moment here with many entertainers keeping everyone happy and always games being played. Chihuahua and Blackie whom are 2 entertainers there were the best. The buffet and A la carts food was Also great. I would definitely recommend this Resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Not as good as I remember

Not as good as we remember. It was our second time here, and we had alot of issues with our room. The construction next door sucks but isn't the hotels fault. Our air conditioner leaked for 3 days into jacuzzi before being fixed. Then it stopped working completely one night and I called and complained. Nothing was done until I found a maintenance guy and brought him into room and showed him how to bypass it. Room was never restocked with soap water alcohol or chips unless you called Butler and [... read more] complained.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: 5 star resort wito a few room blips

The food and grounds are beyond amazing! We were disappointed by our room this time; we had a shower stall that was not clean (mould around the base and covering the shower head), our air conditioner was leaking into the jacuzzi tub and the maid staff didn't stock the mini fridge or provide soap. Although these may seem like minor details we wasted more time than I wanted attempting to communicate and get what we needed. Riu Merengue: You get what you pay for!!

Ok lets start from the beginning and work our way to the end. First off the check in was easy and the hotel was able to accommodate our room request for a room on the ground floor and close to most hotel amenities. The room had a slight musty smell, but it was not that bad and my wife and I got over it real fast. The beds were a bit lumpy but we were able to sleep on them. ( I kept my eyes open for the remainder of the stay and did not find anymore, nor did I tell my wife until we returned home!!) The grounds are nice and the staff were constantly working and seemed very happy. The beach was fair but the sand fleas were very active and fell in love with my legs.( still itchy as heck ) Lots of lounge chairs at pool and at beach. The food was not as good as I was expecting for a 4 or 4.5 star depending on the site you looked at. I was able to usually find one or 2 items each meal that was not that bad. For the a la cartes we went to the Steak House and that was disappointing. My steak was to be a medium well and it was well done and tough as old heck. The bars were clean and the drinks were not that bad. The bartenders were very friendly and service was excellent. The maid service was excellent as well and no complaints can I make about that. The on site activities were the norm for the Dominican. The team were friendly and approachable. Check out was as easy and painless as the check in process which was nice. Overall it was not the worst experience of my life, but I would not return to this resort.
