This was my second time going to Mexico and he first time at this resort. After the first trip, I said I would never go back but glad I did. Had an amazing vacation and the resort was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and did everything to ensure your vacation was great.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Fun times but upgrade to black
The hotel itself is beautiful, but the rooms a/c hardly worked. You also have to pay for everything wifi, lockbox in room. Which they dont tell you from the start. Upragde to black membership also. The hotels restaurants were amazing for black members (vip) which made up for all the other stuff
All in all great experience. I wouldnt go back because of the hotel, but because i set that place on fire haha ( not literally)

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Huge Resort
This was a very huge resort. We stayed at the adult only which was the furthest from the beach. It’s a nice walk when the sun is not beating down on you. Lots of seedweed so we spent our time around the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food was very disappointing We found we were better off eating at the buffet. Staff were nice and friendly. Barely makes a 4 star. Unfortunately we won’t return. Plus side we didn’t gain any weight, food was not good and we walked so muc[... read more]h. Lol

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Excellent experience
My husband and I just came back from a week at the Occidental XCaret in Mexico and we loved just about everything about it.
The staff was very attentive, polite and went out of their way to accommodate us whether it was in the restaurants, beach, front desk or even the cleaning crew.
The food was tasty and plenty at the buffet and we only ate at 3 specialty restaurants which were good (steak house, sea food and Italian) but overall was a very nice experience.
The thing that stood out the mos[... read more]t about the Hotel was the excellent cleanliness all over: the pathways, the pool area, the hotel inside and grounds. There were people constantly sweeping, washing or painting the different areas of the hotel to keep it spotless. We were in awe of the amount of trees, plants, greenery that surrounded the hotel which meant that a lot of animals were present on the grounds all the time. These little creatures (monkeys, parrots, exotic birds, salamanders, iguanas, were always around but did not bother us. They also had white tail deer, tapirs, and larger animals inside enclosures for clients to admire.
We ever have had such good service at a hotel since we have started to travel 35 years ago.
The only negative part of the trip was the beach. It was far from the hotel and had lots of sargassum (seaweed) which is unfortunately not the Hotel's fault but due to the warm weather currents and storms in the Caribbean sea. This is not a hotel for people with mobility issues because of it's large size.

Grand Riviera Princess: Grand Riviera Princess - Mar 13-20/2018
Check in was a breeze! No line up at all. However, they did not accommodate our room request and did not want to change our rooms. Once we got to our rooms and called front desk, we were able to speak to someone else that was able to change our rooms. This was a bit of a hassle as we are a family of 5. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had an issue with our A/C so they were in and out trying to fix it but it was fixed within a few hours of our arrival. A/C unit was still loud though. Fridge wasn[... read more]'t working so they tried to fix it. When they couldn't, they got us a new fridge but still didn't work. Apart from that, room was fine and cleaned daily.
We mainly ate at the buffets for breakfast and dinner and just got BBQ for lunch. Food is good. We were travelling with an other family that has 2 kids and we have 3 kids. No issues finding food that the kids liked or food that we liked. For the A La Carte restaurants, I would highly recommend the seafood (salmon and shrimp were delicious) and the Japanese. The Italian was not very good. But the buffets are also just fine and they have theme nights.
The grounds are well kept. There is always someone sweeping, changing garbage, cleaning washrooms, etc. And everyone is very friendly. We had no issues walking from place to place but there is a "train" that you can take also. There are lots of animals that you will see. As long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you! If you leave your food unattended though, they WILL come and eat it!
We had access to the family club. The kids pool was nice. It was clean, shallow, and had some slides and other things for the kids to play. They come around during lunch with hot dogs, burgers, and fries which is very nice of them. The kids club also has a schedule that you can view and sign kids up for activities. There are plenty of activities and lots of supervision for the kids.
The pools are well maintained and some have swim up bars. They usually have entertainment in the main pool around 3PM but it's not always child friendly. They had a foam party at the beach also one day but again not child friendly. Didn't bother us as there was lots of other things for the kids to do. The beach has lots of seaweed but if you go in it stays shallow for quite a while and you won't find seaweed. We only went to the beach twice but that was only because the kids didn't want to leave the pool!
Entertainment at night in the theatre was great! The shows are appropriate for all ages and the kids really enjoyed them.
We travelled from March 13-20, 2018 and the weather was perfect! There is a bit of rain on the day that we arrived but it didn't last long. The rest of the days was sunny and hot.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Loved Secrets Aura Cozumel
We arrived on a late Friday evening as our flight was delayed out of Toronto. Check in was fast friendly and professional. For a little extra we where ocean front preferred members. Their were many activities to chose from and the evening entertainment put on fantastic shows. Housekeeping was prompt and attentive. A variety of different restaurants to chose from. Only one with a dress code. Several pools to chose from. The resort was well laid out and the view breathtaking. My wife loved it just [... read more]as much as I did. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing resort, apart from the dolphinarium
The hotel and the staff were great. Amazing and clean place with a lot of people doing a great job. It is truly grand, in size, so a lot of walking is recommended but they have transportation on the premises. There are two different pools, a lazy river and two sides of the beach and decent spaces to snorkel and a dive shop to scuba dive.
The grounds on and around the hotel are beautiful - they have a bike tour around the hotel that show all the fauna. The hotel property is very big and it d[... read more]eserves the detour.
The equipment in the gym is fairly old and the spa seems great, I however did not try it. The spa is far from the hotel in front of the dolphinarium. Its a great hotel for walks in the mornings.
I however cannot recommend this place for their dolphinarium. Dolphins are animals who have the ocean as their home and here they are captive in a very small pool; their captivity reduces their lives. Please do not go to the dolphin show and request the animals be freed.

Allegro Cozumel: Not well organized
We booked this resort at least 4 months before March Break. We booked a room for our elderly mother's to share, requesting two double beds. They gave them a KING to share. When we opened the door, there was water from the AC unit, dripping/pouring down through the pot lights over the vanity sink onto the counter and the ceramic floor, making the floor very dangerous for slipping. The floor of the walk in shower slopped away from the drain, pooling the water by the far end near the door, again on[... read more] ceramic tile, making it very slippery, and very dangerous for our mothers. They took 4 nights to finally get them into another room. The beach, pool, food, etc were all fine. General staff were very friendly and its a good resort. Beach was great.

Canto Del Sol: I really liked it
It is very clean, impressive how clean it is.
The staff are great.
My complaints are few: I would have preferred to be able to reserves more a la carte, as I am not a buffet fan and was only allowed 3 on a 7 day stay. And
I found there is not enough shade around the pool area.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Special Resort with friendly staff, and great service and food!!
My wife and I both love the Cozumeleno Beach resort. Despite staying in the dated part of the hotel (room 409) the cleanliness and the view from the balcony was truly worth it, as we were able to see the beautiful sunsets, and the many cruise ships pass by the hotel each night.
The food was good, and despite only having one buffet, it is the only resort we have ever been to that gives you the option to also order off a menu, for lunch right in the buffet. You could also order from the menu i[... read more]n the Ala carte restaurant for breakfast.
The beach is small but protected from the wind and ocean surf by two cement piers that make it very calm an safe. a definite advantage over the Hotel Milia, which also had a good beach, but ha no protection from the seaweed, and surf that hit mid-week, making it less than fun to go in the water.
The El Cozumeleno remained always great for swimming and had plenty of fish and excellent snorkeling.
The pools are clean, but not heated, however we are beach people. There were always lots of chairs.
The resort had not much entertainment at night, and things were quite evening. If you are looking for more to do at night than perhaps Cancun or other parts of Mexico, might be better for you. We found the staff very friendly with a genuine interest in getting to know you, and provide great service. A shout out to Gloria, Aldo, and Emanuel.
The resort is on the north end of the island, and a short cab ride($8) from San Miguel and shopping. The final added bonus was the direct flight to the Cozumel airport instead of having to fly into Cancun and then sit on the bus for 35 to 60 minutes. We were told this perk may be ending for the season. (We were down from March 16 to 23, 2018), so if you're interested you should check.
That's it .. definitely a great spot for a safe, relaxing vacation.
Would go back again.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Needed more staff and updating.
The hotel was very short on staff you could tell because they seemed to always racing to get the dinning areas cleansed and ready. Room service was exceptionally long wait times, took almost 2 hours to get a salad to the room in preferred suit several times we called.
Had to call everyday 2 times to get the room fridge filled with water. No snacks that are suppose to be refilled each day, had to ask for those to.
The hotel it’s self is in need of updating and repairs. Cracked pool walkout t[... read more]iles, beds were done our was like trying to sleep in a hammock.
The food exceptional each day
No complaints at all there.
The spa was a pristine and very well maintained and staff were

Allegro Cozumel: Great resort and wonderful couples vacation
This is a very nice, eco-conscious resort that is not as fancy as some others however it offered everything we wanted and more. We did not find it dated, just more simple in decor and style such as thatched roofs on the villas and simple but modern and clean rooms. We were very happy with the food, there was lots to choose from and plenty of it. If you are picky then you may feel limited in your choices at times but if you enjoy trying new things (like grilled cactus and mole poblano) then there[... read more] are lots of options. The beach was fantastic, we purposely chose Cozumel because of the snorkeling and we were not disappointed! Crystal clear waters and we saw small sting rays, a huge starfish and lots of fish right off the beach. On a snorkeling excursion we went on we saw sea turtles, many many fish and even a tiny shark hanging out by the reef. We did not use the gym, spa or go to much evening entertainment but we saw a cirque-de-soleil style show and a concert. One thing you should know if you visit here is that the hotel staff will try to sell time shares to you by telling you there is a free welcome package or gift of some kind. Nothing is free and if you buy into this you will be given a presentation about time shares. A simple no-thanks will suffice though and no one bothered us after that. This would be a great resort for families but my husband and I (ages 25 and 26 no kids) had a great time. Value for the money was awesome.

Riu Flamingos: Amazing vacation; beautiful resort
I really enjoyed my stay at the Riu Jalisco! The garden/fountain view is truly beautiful. Amazing food, great shows and most importantly, great hospitality. I enjoyed the activities at the pool and the theatre. One thing that needs improvement is the humidity in the room. Opening the AC introduced a smell. Other than that, i was very pleased with the hotel. Will definitely recommend.

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: Week at the Now Amber
Fabulous grounds, amazingly friendly staff, and an overall great time. The Now Amber worked very hard to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. For example, my gluten free wife was given gluten free products for almost every meal by the head of the kitchen staff (bread, muffins, cookies, pasta, and even a pizza!). Our kids loved the kids club (ages 8 and 10) and went often. They also loved the kids pool and the main pool area to swim. Grand Oasis Sens: Understaffed, over rated!!!
I absolutely hate writing bad reviews but I felt this was necessary. A group of 10 of us went and we did not have high expectations by any means but it was worse than we could have thought. This resort is very understaffed and run down.
Water: we were never able to get water bottles at any bar except the lobby bar which managed to run out everyday meaning you could not get water bottles unless you ordered them through room service which costed 11$. You get 2 bottles in your room and that’s[... read more] it. Being in Mexico and in the sun it shouldn’t be such a hassle to get water bottles.
Food: buffet is awful, very limited selection. Only open for breakfast and dinner. We had a group of 10 and could never get a table together, they made us seem like we were always bothering them when asking to sit together. Only 2 other restaurants you can eat at without a reservation and don’t cost extra.
Moonlight the Italian was by far the best restaurant in terms of service and food. 8/10 people in my group got extremely sick from the food unable to leave the washroom for at least a day. Not how you want to spend vacation.
Drinks: the bar rail alcohol tastes like nailpolish remover, when you ask for Smirnoff or absolute vodka they make it seem like you’re asking for a huge favour. There’s also a limited amount of bars around the resort- 1 at the beach, 1 in the lobby and 2 at the pool that’s it. They are extremely understaffed, it takes forever to get a drink at the lobby bar you really only get one at night before it closes. As well they ran out of beer across the entire resort.
Rooms: only a sheet on the bed, we had ants all over our night table every morning when we would wake up, my friend had a massive cockroach in hers. Meanwhile we were in the grand sens plus which meant we were supposed to get a stocked mini fridge which was not stocked and there was no other difference. Walls are super thin you hear everything.
Beach: beach is beautiful and water is very nice.
Pool: great layout and super fun during the day.
Entertainment: amazing entertainement staff and activities. Participate and you’ll have a blast!
