Riu Merengue: Perfect resort

This is a beautiful resort which I have stayed at before. Friendly staff, long beach with both shade and sun. Food was wonderful with lots of selection and options (riu bachata breakfast and lunch along with pools, bars, etc included). Shows were quite good (don't miss the diva, magic and audience participation ones). Rooms were very well kept, current and large. Small shopping street with the standard tourist items. Offers all the basic tours. It is a little isolated tho but great in my books if you just want a relaxing get away. Sand is tan (not white) and water not as clear as other places such as Mexico and Cuba (which I don't mind). Dive shop on site. Lots of water sports as well. Highly recommend. Taking a group next time.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Esmerelda!

My 5th stay at Esmerlda. Unfortunately this year the "atmosphere" was different with adult-only...missed the family oriented focus. Am very happy to hear the resort is reverting back as of May. This year I found lack of waiter service in the lobby bar, room fridge was not restocked daily, coffee pot never cleaned out, rooms are getting In need of an overall upgrade. These negatives did not ruin my holiday...just some observations. Met butler first day but not seen after that...not a persona [... read more]l priority for me. The resort grounds are lovely and well maintained. Love the resort layout...easy & quick access to beach and restaurants.

TRS Turquesa: 2nd time around

Start off with the grounds we're clean and groomed nicely. Our room had a few things that didn't work but never complained. Pools nice , beach nice. Vendors on beach continuously bug to do excursions. Drinks were very below par. Every drink was made way to strong that u couldn't even drink and the beer isn't very good but did the job the food seem not the greatest compared to the last time we went on 2015 but again we didn't starve. Staff was always pleasant.

Wednesday.18 same thin also Thursday.19 same thin even so I went to Management of the Resort and Air Transat we will talk to the top in Line Management, oh we will come back to you, give us your them Name room nr we come back to you (still Waiting) If you need to Run the Generator, close the Pool area for the time running or build a noise reduction Wall or open up Door to the back it may help to reduce the Noise. Tell the People a Generator is close by it may inter fair with your relaxation for you stay. I am Business if someone would Complain about losing 3 days of relaxation Construction or Generator Noise, I would not say we come back to you I would be back and let them know or try to comfort them not taken the 20.000 plus Dollars for the Group to get there it so post to be Adult Luxury Bahia Principe. All in our Group was saying the Beach Kids area are very good also the rest of the resource. Working Personal very friendly, helpful what the Management has to Learn from workers. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Resort, would for sure be coming back

The hotel overall was great, room was clean, and staff was friendly and accommodating. The Buffet never had a complaint with any food, in fact it was really good. Pools were well cared after. Beach was great with a good number of lounge chairs, great number of bars with great bartenders. There was one super high energy staff member around the pool that was harlious, entertaining and a definite assiet to the hotel. Overall experience was great and will be returning again

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Good value but!

A little far from Santo Domingo but la Romana was 20 mi . Rooms ok nice bedding and cleaning staff were excellent. Free WiFi poor unless by pool at night. Don't waste money on Saona excursion unless you like 2000 people on a beach... Frank on the beach excursions is great orange hat . .Bartenders not friendly . ..rarely. Liquor quality poor..no coconut rum or rum cream. Pool and spa Jacuzzis dirty. Entertainment in lobby each night was great with a rock band on our last night. Shows exc [... read more]ellent. Not many English speaking staff or vacationers so not great for us.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: It's an ok resort

The rooms where clean and the cleaning staff was very nice. There is no lobby bar or any inside bar unless it's in the restaurant which closes when the restaurant closes. The al a carted are not great and the buffets are the same thing everyday. Some staff are very friendly but most are not. The recreation staff spend most of thier time sitting on the beach trying to get free drinks

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: 3 start resort at best!

This hotel is underwhelming. "Premier" rooms are not well maintained and dated. They are located facing the activity pool and are extremely noisy. For those in buildings 7 and 8 you can also hear the noise from the "social area" which goes on until 11 pm or midnight. The only way to get away from the noise is to keep the air conditioner in the room running. Mini bar is a small fridge that is stocked with 2 beer daily and various sodas. The "class" system is that you must upgrade to Diamond [... read more] status to have upgrades which are not worth the money., nor are they usually available. The buffet food is mediocre and there is no variety from day to day whatsoever. Sunwing states that you may use facilities at the Royalton however they don't tell you that this doesn't include the pools or restaurants (or that there is additional charge for the restaurants at the Royalton and you must make a reservation) because they get to treat you like a 2nd class citizen if you are from Memories. Sunwing also has a vacation club that they like to state is not a "timeshare" but it is and the Concierge at the Memories main focus is to get you to attend a 90 minute presentation after which they will give you the hard sell. We managed to dodge that bullet and the only good part was the "free day" at the Royalton if you attended the presentation. Full use of buffet and pools and restaurants, etc. The staff however are very friendly at the Memories. They are well trained and very upbeat - though they must be bored out of their trees trying to keep the tourists happy. The Front desk is very disorganized but they try hard. Front desk staff at the Royalton were indifferent (we tried to move to the Royalton on the 2nd day of our trip but it was full. Unfortunately it seems the Memories is more interested with upselling the Nexus tours and tourist adventures. They are constantly wandering around the pool areas trying to sell activities and photos and/or timeshares. We have been to the DR many times and have never been hassled to that extent. The water park was a hit with our teenage grandchildren and was the main reason we booked this hotel. That and the accessibility to the Royalton which we found out was not as broad as we had expected. All in all our trip was rather disappointing.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Resort, thumbs up

The resort is perfect size and location. The staff are ALL amazing and will do anything for you. The rooms and grounds clean and pretty. Food was also perfect with lots of selection, something for everyone and never really a line up. Fruit was fresh, big plus in my mind. The beach was also perfect, you can walk for miles either way. I would actually recommend purchasing from them as you can "barter" NEVER accept the price they want to sell anything to you for. Another plus is the Rock Sports Bar, must go!!! We did the Monster Buggy Excursion, booked with our agent. It was alot of fun and reasonable price. Check in and out was easy. This was our second time to VH and loved it as much as the first. Also, the only resort ever that responded to our requests and they were met, above and beyond. VH is our "home away from home" Thanks to the management and staff for their attention to detail and for making us feel like family. Special shout out to "Louie" (Pool Bartender)...He is the best, keep him on staff for our next visit. Entertainment was also excellent. PS....can you speak to mother nature and ask her to hold off on the rain for our next trip....LOL XOXO Can't wait to return.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Had a relaxing vacation!,

Blue bay was a nice small resort, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help. Food was good, always found something to eat at the Buffet, the BBQ night was great but way too much meat, beautiful huge beach great for walking Had a nice stay with friends. Cheers

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Fantastic Spa

I loved the Paradise Island excursion. It was a beautiful beach and the staff were great. I had the best massage ever and would highly recommend it. The view of the beach at the resort was beautiful. The rooms could use some updating.

IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts: Great resort!

IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts was a great place to have our week long vacation in the sun. The resort is newly renovated and we loved it. It was so clean and the staff were always so happy and courteous. The only thing that was disappointing was the distance to the ocean, but it was still amazing to be in this paradise. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a smaller more quaint resort. Paradisus Punta Cana: Paradise at Paradisus!!

Top notch resort whose employees go out of their way to please you. Grounds impeccable, rooms very clean and food certainly 5 star. Royal Service wonderful if in your budget. Large white sand beach area, great swimming, no rocks

Grand Bavaro Princess: Great time away! I'm

Resort grounds are beautiful and well kept. Rooms were clean, spacious and fridge was stocked everyday. One of the buffets was not as good as the other. The main buffet in the lobby had better selection in my opinion. Overall our week here was great but I'm not sure for the money I would come back

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great but not perfect vacation

We were in Punta Cana between March 22 and April 5th. Our vacation between airports experiences (arrival and departure) was amazing at this resort. Punta Cana "International" airport is NOT what I expected for a high volume tourist area. Lined up as cattle to go through both security checks, took forever to get to hotel (3 hours after landing). Watch out for the words "included" and "complimentary" as at first you think you are getting something for free but they always have a way to get you to [... read more] pay for it. We were given "complimentary" golf but ended up we had to pay for the golf cart which was not included and was mandatory. Free golf, right' yeah but the golf cart cost us 75$ US each!! so our game ended up costing us 150$. The 7 games I planned on playing ended up being 1 game and my clubs stayed in the room for the remainder of the vacation. Complementary 1000$ is not cash you can spend but a % taken off various items such as higher end wine, room service etc.. all the stuff you basically would not take advantage of being in an all inclusive resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Wouldn't go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The grounds were beautiful the staff were friendly but the food was not hot , the generator was running all the time in the quiet pool we were not able to get into the ala cartes and at the quiet pool the drinks were not good compared to the other pool. The rooms were really nice but friends in our group and no hot water for showers for 3 days some of them had a fridge that didnt work I would never go back I have been to a 3-4 star that was so much better than this 5 star. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: This was the best vacation ever - A Fabulous Resort

The food was first rate. The rooms were very tastefully decorated and clean. We couldn't get over the comfortable surroundings. Always a comfortable chair or shade with a great cocktail available to help you enjoy yourself. Three pools to choose from and a very nice beach. Resort was immaculate. The property was really well maintained. The staff was incredible. Very friendly and attentive. We were both completely satisfied. We miss it already. We'd go back for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Totally Wonderful

Every moment from out arrival to departure was amazing. The staff, the cleanliness, the entertainment, the food-EVERYTHING was fantastic. Extremely friendly staff. They could practice their English just a bit more. But then I could also practice my Spanish. Another thing, I could only exchange for 10-$1.00 American dollars per day. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful Resort

The Iberostar Costa Dorada had one of the best layouts we have ever seen at a resort. Everything was so close. The beach is practically beside the pool. Check in was very easy, although you cannot check into your room until 3:00 pm however, the resort gives you a beach towel and a changing room to continue on with your day. The grounds are immaculate and  [... read more]the resort workers were very friendly. We did tip (in American dollars) and although not necessary it was very welcomed. One worker didn't even want to take my tip but I insisted. It was only a $1. The only drawback was the extreme wind on the beach which meant the red flag was up and we were not allowed to swim in the ocean the majority of the time we were there. Not sure if the high winds is the norm or just the time of year we were there. Also, during the Easter weekend the pool was extremely packed. It appears Dominicans traditionally visit the resorts for the Easter Weekend. It was a very busy weekend , it seemed like the resort was over capacity. Beach was nice, but not as nice as Cuban beaches. There were two areas, one side with huts and the other side there were trees that provided shade which added to the beach experience. Lounge chairs were easy to find both at the beach and pool. If you wanted a to sit in a specific area, there were always chairs available. Never been to a resort that had so many lounge chairs.

TRS Turquesa: Awesome resort

This was our second stay at the royal suites palladium. Everything was excellent, loved the wet area of the spa which was included with royal suites!! We had a swim out room which rocked would definitely recommend. Make sure to ask for premium booze they dont automatically serve the good stuff. Main big Buffet got repetitive stick to the royal suites buffet and make reservations at the restraunts😉 Only thing is stay away from people offering welcome breakfast and gifts unless you are lo [... read more]oking to waste 2 or more hours hearing about time share and the cost is like 20000USD or more....
