Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Family Friendly Resort

Overall, we would give the resort a 3.5 out of 5. It's a smaller resort but we also felt the food suffered because of it. There was 1 small buffet which we didn't think was very good. We couldn't get reservations the first 2 days and got tired of eating every meal at the buffet and ordered room service for lunch the rest of the trip. The a la carte restaurants were ok, not great. The rooms were clean but showing their age and other areas of the resort also a bit run down (restaurant seats dirty, [... read more] automated toilets worked 1x during a week). The highlight for our toddler was the Aquazone and pirate ship pool. We had good weather for most of the trip and the beach was nice and clear. A little confusing which seating on the beach you could use. The entertainment was good and geared to kids (at least on the family side). Service was ok at buffets, better at a la carte but some restaurants a bit pushy trying to upsell. The spa was ok.

Catalonia Yucatan: Not worth the money

The whole vacation about the hotel was disappointing,only serving one type of beer,Modelo,and I don't drink draft beer,only at the swim up bar,,no pool liquor service,,had to get up and get your own drinks,,very poor service,,buffet was terrible,,same type of food every day,,hardly any variety,and ala carte,had to down load the app,,and couldn't get on the app( very disappointed) it seemed that we had to do everything ourselves,,get up at 6a.m.every morning to put a towel on a lounge chair,,ther [... read more]e were no extra lounge chairs anywhere,, upon checking in for our buffet dinner,the lady directed us to sit at a table that had a used napkin,and that was it,no tableware,table wasn't clean,no napkins,very poorly presented,the lady said she would be right back,,we waited 10 minutes,then finally my wife got up and took all the silver ware and napkins from another table,,there was no personal service at all,at any time,,even when we looked online at your resort,,it looked beautiful,we found out that the pictures taken were when the resort was first built,,this to me is false advertising,misleading,,

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing resort

Great for families with children as well as for adults only. Very clean. Great pools close to a beautiful beach. Good bars, good drinks. Huge selection of food , always fresh. Fun water parks for kids, beautiful gym for adults. Very good a la cart restaurant but difficult to book, rooms were very humid for some reason

Grand Oasis Riviera: Buyer’s remorse

The facility is old, the rooms are musty and damp, unless you pay extra to get a cleaner room without ants. The entire resort is in bed and shut down by 11:00pm. The entertainment is minimal. I night per week for 1.5 hours of karaoke. If anything, the food was fantastic which was a blessing. Bartender Fernando was overworked and underpaid for the relentless alcohol consumption by some of the “swim up bar” locals.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing!

A most enjoyable location and atmosphere. The staff are all terrific. I often noticed how clean and well-maintained the grounds are. Huge, beautiful vegetation everywhere. Food is terrific, lots of choices. Beaches are beautiful (except for a few rocky spots). I would encourage anyone to visit this resort.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Love this resort!

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Palmar. Have stayed here in the past when it was Azul. We stayed in a swim up room in the adults only section. Have to say we are totally spoiled with the swim up….private patio, access to swimming, never needing to worry about saving a pool chair. Could swim down every morning to the Adults only pool and swim up bar for Caesar drinks! Buffet was not open for dinner but alacarte restaurants did not need reservations and menus were extensive enough we could ord [... read more]er something different each time. Food was excellent. Small resort and not overly busy while we were there. I have mobility problems so walking long distances is difficult however this resort has everything laid out extremely well so getting to restaurants, etc. was never an issue. The staff are wonderful…pleasant, helpful and try to accommodate requests. Little entertainment during our stay but may have been due to fewer guest during that time. Room was lovely, hot water daily, no issues with air conditioning and beds were very comfortable. The only downside to this resort is the beach. Narrow beach, shallow water that is rocky and weedy. There are snorkeling trips however to get to better ocean swimming. Despite the beach issue we love this resort and will definitely return!

Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A little tired ...

This was our fourth trip to this resort and after an absence of six years - it will definitely be our last. The resort is incredibly tired and needs some much needed updating to most common areas and pool. Pool was missing many ceramic tiles and could become a liability if anyone were to cut themselves on the broken tiles. Beach accommodation seating was incredibly tight and, as we are not beach people, the beach lacks the draw for any walks as the "sand" is very pebbly and hard to navi [... read more]gate. The beach also had the "black" flag flying for the entire two weeks that we were there - with the story (myth) of a crocodile on the beach possibly two crocs from the river. Party pool as expected - noisy, out of control drinking, and the usual bar atmosphere. Sad to see grownups in various levels of drunkenness including the inability to walk. Staff, however, were outstanding and very accommodating. Speciality restaurants were "okay" but was happy to see an enforced dress code for gentlemen wearing shorts - the work around with lovely seating outside the restaurant was more than accommodating for those guests. We did upgrade to a swim out suite and the move was a welcome relief from scurrying to the pool to ensure a lounge and shade at 6:00 am. Definitely not worth the "Secrets" accreditation and very expensive for what we received.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Alot can change in one year

Last year this resort was it the top of its game , clearly a 5 star and as such we wanted to try it again . Mistake # 1 was sunwing ...wow get it together folks , silly delays going down , silly delays coming back , in fact on the way back every single sunwing flight back was delayed verses every other carrier flying out of cancun. As far as royalton diamond club Hideaway goes , they really need to emphasize Diamond club on their staff again . Despite paying a large sum for this , we did not rec [... read more]eive a private check in and had to wait almost 3 hours to get a room ! Did not receive our bottle of premium spirits , did not receive our diamond club bag , every day we had to hound staff to properly re-stock our room. Room service was a 45 minute plus wait and the hot tea arrived....cold. Resort is in bad need of maintenance everywhere , paint falling off , concrete cracked all over , missing tiles on the pool bottom. We tried to stick to the resort , in particular after folks took a cab to the 5th avenue market and were subsequently pulled over by police and shaken down for cash... So naturally that killed our rental car ambitions. The quality of food has suffered since last year but was still " ok" just not 5 star. Our butler Valeria tried her best but I suspect she is being let down by her penny pinching management. We made the best of it , enjoyed the hot weather , but next year we will be looking at true 5 star / and true Diamond club resorts

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Excellent resort in all aspects!

This place is really nice. It is really big but everything seems manageable. You have access to multiple resorts and a bus to take you there, very convenient. Buffet was good, a la cartes excellent, grounds were clean, room was nice, staff incredible. A lot of families around, we met some nice people. Tip these people well as they are working hard to please every guest. We are not big boozers but at each bar, I saw many premium name brands, so if that's your thing, it seemed to be they aren't serving cheap stuff. The chairs are an issue if you want to sleep in. We never had a problem getting a lounger by the pool, but my wife is out there to get a chair at 7AM or earlier some days. Selection Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort!!!

We were so pleased with our stay at the Palmar! We stayed in the adults only building, in a swim up suite. So awesome, daily exercise consisted of a pool trip to the swim up bar. Food was the highlight of our holiday. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!. The resort staff were the nicest people ever! Can't wait to come back!

Viva Maya by Wyndham: Wordy to Experience

The resort grounds are well maintained, the beach is beautiful and clean, the rooms are O.K- daly cleaned but water supp in the bathroom and shower needs improvement. Eexcellent staff services in restaurants and on the grounds. Activity and entertainment acceptable but need to be better promoted.

Grand Oasis Riviera: We had a great time

The location was perfect. Superior beach front couldn’t have been a lovelier spot. The room however was very rough. It’s better than 2.5 but 3 might be pushing it. Old, very moldy smell, sliding doors didn’t work, sink leaked.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Most luxurious family resort

The food, the location, the size, the people it was all amazing. We had the best week. Also the reviews we had read didn't praise the kids club enough. Hourly activities, my child didn't want to leave and went every single day! The shows are great and the resort is laid out in a way that doesn’t feel cramped. It’s quiet and so spa like you would never think it was a resort that caters to families!

Riu Lupita: Couldnt ask for a more attentive resort

Once again the Lupita has exceeded my expectations. I thought this was a wonderful resort the first time I was here, they have succeeded in surpassing that expectation. The staff are amazing. Check in, bar staff, buffet staff entertainment staff, cleaning staff all work very hard to ensure you enjoy your stay. I would not hesitate to come back. Whether alone, as a couple or a family, the Riu Lupita is the place to go.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Barcelo Maya Riviera 5 STARS without a doubt

When we were dropped off (first) in the shuttle from the airport, the people staying at different resorts audibly gasped at the site of our lobby as it is as grandiose as something out of a James Bond movie. Barcelo Maya Riviera (18+ only) has excellent service, food, and amenities. I don't have a problem with kids, but we definitely felt the difference - not having kids running by the pool or screaming in the lobby. Quite a hike from the airport and to Chichen Itza but worth being patient. If this isn't a 5-star, they don't exist.

Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Beautiful Resort

The rooms were very nice and the food amazing. The grounds were amazing and kept very clean. The workers were friendly and work very hard. Loved the pools and the different activities that were offered including the foam party.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing resort except for the CAPTIVE DOLPHINS

The hotel was lovely And the beach front was fantastic! The restaurants were also very delicious with lovely staff! There are many pools to choose from and lots of activities. I was absolutely shocked to see the tiny water enclosure that the dolphins were in. WHY IS THIS EVEN HERE AT BARCELLO? I have since found out that PLATA THE DOLPHON jumped onto the concrete deck and DIED while performing in a show in February 2025. ? PLEASE TAKE AWAY THE DOLPHIN AREA?

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: great resort

you have a beautiful resort there, but the thing is there is too many steps going up into something or going down into something like by the martini bar that step that goes up there is very dangerous. I seen so many people fall there and I was one of them, unfortunately and I have the huge bruises to prove it. My hip is so sore. I would like to say I wouldn’t recommend it to seniors, but I seen younger people falling as well. Very dangerous even your staff said it was dangerous.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Beautiful Resort

A very large property and having shuttle carts was necessary and welcomed. Plenty of water areas and food options. The hotel staff were very friendly and polite. They were always eager to help in any way. The most negative thing was our room. The A/C was broken. Several attempts were have to fix it. The last night was the only cool night. The patio door was extremely hard to open and l couldn’t use the nice tub because the plug was not working. The traffic noise was also an annoyance. If it wasn’t for the excellent concise staff we wouldn’t have had a good experience. We actually joined the Ultimate Club. We enjoyed all that the hotel had to offer except our room !!! Also Sunwing overbooked seats and l had to pay for the lady two seats.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Nice Resort But...

The resort was beautiful, there were lots of different areas to explore. The food and drinks were generally of a high standard, we really enjoyed the food trucks dotted around the resort, the sports bar was fab and the staff were great. The beach was long, although some days there was a little seaweed it wasn't anything to keep us out of the water. There weren't any umbrellas on the beach, however, the section opposite the family areas did have shade from the palm trees. Unfortunately this [... read more] was not the case at the adults only beach, the only shade was from a small cluster of palm trees. The Royalton Splash next door had an umbrella for every 2 loungers, a much better set up. We enjoyed the infinity pools as generally they were quieter and more relaxing, but again there was a lack of umbrellas. We stayed at the Hideaway, adults only section of the resort and this is where the 'BUT' comes in. There were huge groups of people that dominated the whole area, they acted as if this was there own private resort. A group of 83 Americans were there for a wedding one of which had a swimup room. Our friends had a swimup room on the same block and sadly their experience was ruined by the Americans using their balconies and partying in front of their room. The Hideaway manager did eventually find them new rooms, however, the people moving into the original rooms had to deal with the same disruption. We were disappointed that management did not address this with the large group especially due to the unsanitary condition of the pool with food floating, spilled drinks etc. I would possibly stay here again if we stayed in Diamond Club but that wasn't adults only.
