Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great Vacation Resort!
We had an amazing 1 week vacation end of June/23. We love Cuba and especially the people and have visited many locations many times. This trip we went back to 'Caribe' again mainly because of price. I have to say that our party of 6 adults were totally impressed and had an amazing time. Staff throughout resort were all very efficient and caring of their guests. Food (Cuba) was plentiful, very good with good variety for everyone. The Specialty restaurants were all equally amazing, the food was v[... read more]ery tasty and the service, outstanding. Those restaurants are all renovated and spotless. After dinner drinks in the Piano Lounge were a must as entertainment is great. The staff here provide excellent service in this busy spot. The resort runs exceptionally well under the excellent direction from IAGO the new General Manager. You will see him everywhere and at all times of the day. We spoke with him and learned of his plans to continue improvements to this resort.
So... the beach and ocean, are just simply to die for. Clean calm waters full of fish, great for all levels of snorkeling. Soft sand à nd lots of shade. Beach bar is super fun and beach pizza is a must.
Please, speak to these terrific staff and tip well, ( yes you can use loonies and toonies and bills).
We went for the good price, but we'll return because of the Memories of outstanding service and amazing atmosphere!!
Thank you to all.

Melia Costa Rey: This is not a five stars hotel,
This hotel is not friendly for people using a walker or wheelchair like my wife,
. There is no elevator in the lobby but a lot of stairs
One of the front desk staff refused to help my wife to take down her walker.
I strongly complained and the following day she had the same problem. An unknown guest showed compassion and she helped her to take down the walker,
The hotel needs an elevator plus front desk staff willing to help.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: The Hotel was great and the beach was gorgeous and beautiful !
I stayed at Grand Aston Cayo Paredon between 18-25 June 2023. I rated the Hotel 5 Stars. I enjoyed my entire vacation (with all sunny days) and had a wonderful time there. The Hotel was new, beautiful and with a good layout. I stayed at the Deluxe Oceanview room for CAD$745 each. The room was spacious, clean, tidy, neat and everything was working in good condition. The view of the room was gorgeous, overlooking the swimming pools, the garden, the hotel, the beach and the ocean. In the mor[... read more]ning, I watched from the balcony the sun rising slowly from the ocean and the horizon, giving light and hope to us all. All restaurants are indoor with air conditioning. I enjoyed all the food at the buffet. There was no lacking of food supplies. I enjoyed the cappuccino, fried eggs, omelet, ham, bacon, yogurt cups, juice, fruit and toast (with butter) in the morning. I enjoyed the beer, the different combinations of pork, beef, chicken, fish-fillet, shrimps, pasta, pizza, vegetables, cakes, desserts, ice-cream and fruits during lunches and dinners at the Avila Buffet. The juicy mangos and papaya were super sweet and delicious; the fried fish-fillet, shrimps and pork were very tasty. Wine, liquor and champagne were served in the 4 reservation restaurants. I enjoyed the pina-colada at the Lobby bar. The entire Hotel was clean and very pleasant. The garden was well maintained. The flowers, the plants, the banana trees were beautiful. Hotel workers were working very hard all day to keep the Hotel nice, clean and beautiful for us. The 3 main swimming pools were amazing. The Bali-beds by the 40 metres pool was very romantic. Few people were swimming. At one time, I was the only one swimming at the 40M pool. Lots of empty loungers were available. The beach was wide, absolutely gorgeous, beautiful and clean. The water was clear. They cleaned up the sea weed every early morning. Lots of empty palapas and loungers stretching in front and back rows along the entire width of the beach. I did not have problem with the supply of beach towel, toilet paper, bottled water or other service. The Hotel turned on only 1 elevator when occupancy was low and turned on additional elevators pending occupancy was understandable. Mosquito was a problem to the entire Cayo Coco area. Bring and spray your mosquito repellent. All hotel staffs were friendly. Special thanks to the good and friendly service of Arturo, Osmar and Jimmy serving us at the Avila Buffet. They did not work for your tips, they worked hard to make the Hotel Good and our vacation enjoyable ! I am Keith from Toronto. Good-bye ! July 2023.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Stunning resort and beach
The rooms are gorgeous. Brand new. Beds so comfortable and rooms ice cold. We had the rooftop. It was huge. The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen. The people are so kind and the service is amazing It’s a place where you go to relax. Not much of a nightlife. Also there is a lack of food. We didn’t starve. But it’s not the same as it was preCovid. Not even close. Room fridge only has one bottle of water a day. There was a lot of shortages. No seafood at all. The f[... read more]ood situation needs a major improvement.
NOW the travel, what a nightmare with SUNWING. Delay after delay after delay. There and back. Sunwing changed our travel times by 12 hour to go there and they added a stop in Holguin. On top of that we were delayed by the sunwing crew for 4 hrs. Coming home was another nightmare, our sunwing rep at the hotel made us waste our last day and sent us to the airport too soon, he didn’t get the delay notifications and argued that his supervisor didn’t inform him even though we showed him the multiple emails from sunwing all day long with delay notifications. We had to tell him. We got the airport before the staff was there and we had to wait outside in 40 degree weather fighting off the mosquitoes for a hour and a half. Never again sunwing. Ever.
Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Resort for your lifetime memories!
The regular Cuban "Package"-clean ,safe beautiful flowers and trees .Exceptional staff even for Cuba (been many many times in all provinces) no food poisoning -thanks ....yes mosquito-lots))) yes flies everywhere- go in the winter instead...lol

Melia Cayo Coco: Very good place to stay and relax
We stayed in Melia Cayo Coco May 12-19. Overall, the vacation was good: the weather was nice, with a few rains, perfect beach, decent food, nice pool and activities during day and evening time entertainment. The only glitch was an alcohol: the variety was not great and, most importantly, the resort first ran out of red wine on Sunday, May 14. Then by Monday they ran out of the white wine and by Tuesday – out of sparkling wine. So, wine lovers out there – be aware! We had to settle for beer a[... read more]nd rum as we are not cocktail-lovers. We talked to the administration rep in the Guest Experience office, they cited some delivery issues with a truck stuck for some reason or other in Havana. Whatever the reason was – fact is, they didn’t solve till the end of our stay on May 19 and we don’t know when they finally were able to re-stock they wine supply. Other than that we liked the resort: it’s clean, the staff is friendly, in the eating area there are cooking stations where chefs are cooking meat, fish or pasta for you if you’d like. Our special thanks to the entertainment team and their coach – they were young and energetic and put on a great show every night, everyone enjoyed it!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great vacation - stunning beach!
This resort has by far the best beach of any resort I've ever been to! The water is crystal clear and the water is quite shallow allowing for long walks and good swimming - and seeing some lovely star fish, trumpet fish and even a barracuda or 2. This was our first time in Cayo Coco and we'll definitely be back. The resort is older, but well maintained. We upgraded to Diamond Club and it was worth the little extra cost for the a la carte breakfast and exclusive area on the beach. The staff were [... read more]all very friendly and provided great service. The food was good, well prepared and a good selection too - especially the fruit - mango and guava were in season and pretty perfect. Pizza at the beach, poutine at the poolside snack bar and really good cappuccino and espresso martini's at the lobby bar. Our room was lovely, especially the close proximity to the beach and the outdoor shower. We went in June, which is rainy season so the mosquitos and fly's were pretty bad - but there is a lagoon on the property, lots of foliage - we will return, but not during rainy season. They have a pelican on property - Fico and it was a joy finding Fico at the beach, at the pool and every night by the entrance to the buffet - the hotel staff do feed Fico fresh fish daily and he's well cared for. Overall a great experience. Our room had water refilled daily, fresh towels daily. The staff really did go out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great staff & service
I went to Iberostar daiquiri in April. And I again visited last week. The staff goes out out their way to accommodate you. Please remember you are visiting Cuba. There ARE food shortages which the government controls. Bring protein bars, peanut butter packs or snacks. The shows are fabulous along with singing in the lobby at times. The courtyard was wonderful in the morning where I enjoyed feeding the Mother & 5 baby roosters. It was quiet while enjoying my breakfast of fresh buns, omelets and f[... read more]ruit. Thank you to the man at the front desk for fixing my phone! You are fabulous. I dropped it in water and he fixed it. Once again, thank you to all the staff, the girls ate bar who brought me my favorite food for breakfast! I will be returning again soon. Miss you all,
Janet

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Disappointing.
Regarding the hotel stay, I am very disappointed. First, the mosquitoes were constantly a problem. It was impossible to watch the evening entertainment because of the mosquitoes. Everyone was complaining about this. We came back covered in bites.  I was considering upgrading to the Club Privilege section but it was closed.
Secondly, the food shortage in Cuba resulted in substandard food choice and quality. Pumpkin seemed to be a substitute for fruit and vegetable ingredients through[... read more]out the menus. I lived on eggs for breakfast. For several days, they didn't have butter in the buffet for your bread and not at all in the a' la carte restaurants. They didn't even have ketchup, mustard, relish or mayonnaise as condiments. Wine was only served in the a' la carte restaurants and coffee was not available in any the restaurants during lunch and dinner. We had to go to the bars to get a coffee.  International alcohol was not evident. There was no room service despite this being listed in the advertising. International alcohol was not evident. In my opinion, the hotel's description of services is misleading.
Third, the economy and financial situation of the people in Cuba resulted in the staff always suggesting that guests provide tips. Obviously they are not being paid enough by the Hotel(s) to make this an "All inclusive" destination.
I would only give this a maximum 3 star rating at the best and we will never be returning to this resort. In my opinion, you should take this hotel (and all others in this new resort area) off your vacation spots.
