The hotel was fantastic because it was so central to everything we wanted to see and do. The entertainment was excellent, but I found it to be a little too short, as the hour flew by. The chicken at the Italian restaurant was the best I'd ever had. Overall, the food was good

We have been traveling to Barceló maya since 2001 2 -3 trips a year till Covid started so for the last 2 years we haven’t been. This trip was horrible, the hotel is short help and it reflects it. Service was bad, all washrooms around the resort were not taken care of, food was ok… management is aware of the situation and can’t do anything about it. Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Wonderful resort

Hotel accomadations,food,entertainment were excellent.we would return again to this resort.the food was very diversified always a variety for everyone.the entertainment was very professional as the pool area always had something happening

Barcelo Solymar: Too much change.

Beautiful beach and great view. 80% locals in resort hogging the food and leaving messes everywhere. I will Not return to Cuba. Was my 6th time. Food shortages and way too much change for me. Mexico next time.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Beautiful and clean .

We totally enjoyed our stay . Will come back for sure . Cleanliness was amazing . Grounds kept very well .Restaurants were excellent . Food excellent . Buffet excellent . Pool bars were very good , Pools were very clean. Bravo Barcello. We totally enjoyed our stay . Occidental Cozumel: Wonderful Resort

This was our second time and never disappoints. Beautiful beach, very clean, super friendly, lots of food options. Our westjet rep was great and helped us with a tour to the Tequila Factory. Upon arrival our room was ready.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Paradise!

This is one of the most beautiful resorts that I have ever been too. The staff was so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel property is lush with vegetation. We got to see monkeys, iguanas, and other cute animals on the property. This property is located right next to the Xcaret Eco park and we did the add on and so glad we did. So worth it!!

Occidental Papagayo: Billy goat trails

Nightmare to walk this resort. Every other person got sick! Food or water who knows ! Staff were excellent and services were ok. Lack of service on beach and no where to actually sit is an issue. Not a 4 or even close to a Star

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Mediocre

Grounds and beach are beautiful. Food is mediocre and very repetitive. Drinks are watered down. Service is terrible. Waiters are very focused on clearing tables so much that they will swipe plates while youre still eating in between fork movements. Room was dirty on arrival and we never got our included mini fridge restocked no matter how much we asked. Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great Vacation Destination

The hotel grounds were beautiful and breath taking. This was my first time leaving Canada so I did not know what to expect. From the moment I entered the lobby I was taking care of, check in was quick in easy, there were two people ahead of me and I was checked in and to my room in 20 minutes. The buffet was huge with lots of variety even for my son who is a picky eater, he always found something he liked and even adventured out and tried new foods. If you had young kids getting an early reservation may be difficult. Our room was cleaned and fridge restocked everyday. We did go during spring break so there were big crowds but that was to be expected. We were only woke up once at 2am by loud rowdy teens/young adults and security had come and felt with it in a timely manner. I never worried about covid once on my trip, the staff are all wearing masks and sanitizer stations are at most building entrances and buffets. Masks are required when serving yourself at the buffet and walking to dining tables, I personally think this is pointless to mask up to then go sit beside another family and eat without masks, however it was easy to follow the rules and didn’t bother me. Covid testing was quick and easy we went first thing in the morning of departure (it gets busy so my advice is to go early) and had our results in a couple hours, I did have to go back to the covid testing place and request them to send my results as our shuttle was about to arrive and they hadn’t come through my email yet, the lady hit a button and I had my results. It was annoying to have to walk back to do this but again not a huge issue, and I was understanding as they were busy that day. Overall we had a wonderful experience and enjoyed our vacation.

Occidental Papagayo: Adequate Resort

The grounds are beautiful and there are two lovely pools. However, there were six umbrellas at each pool and in 35° weather you need to be under an umbrella. Several people on the resort requested more umbrellas and nothing was done about it in two weeks. The Buffets are the same every day and there are only three à la carte restaurants that you cannot get into unless you stand in line for almost an hour to get a ticket. Inexperienced staff and a manager that never showed up. This could be a very good resort if there was proper management, more efficient service and better food in the Buffets.

Occidental Punta Cana: Good Location

The resort grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are updated and clean. The staff was very nice and Joseph the "spa guy" was such a sweetheart! The Steak House and Mexican were excellent, Italian not so much. The pizzeria again very good, wish it was open earlier for lunch time. The buffet was ok nothing special. We found a used lysol wipe under our salad while eating and brought it to a few of the staff's attention but they didn't seam to care. The resort was not at f [... read more]ull capacity which was great, if it was full capacity it would be a problem for waiting etc... Personally the resort was too big and I would not go back.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Pleasant stay

First of all the hotel is very big, which could be a good thing or bad thing to people. We like it because you don’t feel you stuck in a complex and there are many things to explore in it. Pro: Relatively new renovation for the junior suite we stayed. It is in a good size and balcony has a good view for the ocean. Food variety is good. The quality is not great but ok. Service is good. Beach is the best and pools are nice but could be busy for certain hours. Has a good golf course althou [... read more]gh we are not golfers. Con: TV is old and quality of picture is bad. I know it doesn’t matter that much but sometimes you do need to watch something (like Oscar live😀) Phone in the room never works At one of the restaurants, Mexico, my wife had stomach issue after a fish main course. Staff can’t speak English sometimes. Instructions for checkout/shuttle bus to airport/ Covid test are not clearly listed Overall we are happy we can have a great vacation after 3 year Covid lockdown!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Wonderful hotel with a few Issues

Overall the Barcelo Maya Colonial is located in a beautiful spot with wonderful beaches and fantastic pools! The food was great and the staff were all fabulous. However, there were a number of disappointments. We booked a premium ocean view suite and when we checked in we were sent to a side office and the check-in turned into a bit of a nightmare. It was busy and there was one person working and instead of a simple check-in, it turned into a 2 hour wait. We did receive our keys eventually. [... read more] Given we had a premium suite we kind of expected....an ocean view but the view we had was of the kids water park. Our room was on the ground level right outside the waterpark which is a tad noisy. When we asked for the ocean view suite we paid for we were told there was nothing available. Great, so the room was nice but the TV didn't work and took a while to address and then the safe wouldn't open after we had locked all our documents and cash in it. Both issues were eventually resolved. We also soon discovered that guests of the hotel would place towels on the lounge chairs around the pool or beach area to reserve their chairs. When we went to sit by the pool there were no available chairs, just a bunch of empty chairs with towels on them. We had to get up each day at 5 AM to find an empty chair and put a towel on them to "reserve them" for our use. In many cases the reserved chairs were never used at all. Lastly, we had an early flight and tried to arrange for breakfast from room service and we were told that, although the menu states breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, breakfast was not available at 6:30 AM but I could order a club sandwich, which has toast and bacon on it. I should also mention the hotels Covid practices were very good. All the staff wore masks as did most of the guests when in the dining areas. I felt quite safe from a Covid perspective. Anyway, it was a wonderful location but I won't be going back

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Clean but disorganized

I stayed at Barcelo Maya beach March 2022. Clean resort, very nice place. Very big! I was impressed with the report itself and the services offered. So much to do and I don’t even think I saw the entire place before I left! I got married at the resort on this trip and had planned a destination wedding at this resort in advanced. My wedding coordinator (Angel) was amazing through the whole process! He was able to help rectify so many issues upon check in. The resort had literally messed up [... read more] every room for booking and had everyone in the wrong rooms and wrong departure dates. Much of my holiday was spent at the front desk dealing the notes mistakes. I thank Angel for fixing many of these issues as well. Unfortunate when you spend thousands of dollars on top of your package to get married and upon arrival it was only mistakes for the resort. I would return, but I hope the hotel continues to provide training for I assume all newer staff.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great beach

We had fun at this resort. The beach and water are amazing, you can walk forever! Staff are great, food was very good. The only draw back are the sales people on the beach and on some nights, around the pool. We are there to relax, not shop!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort

Beautiful resort with Mayan style art, pretty fountains and basins, smart design. I enjoyed the access to the 4 hotels - lobbies each have different Mexican themes. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, service is friendly but a bit slow, lineups at the pool bar. Hard to book the a-la-carte restaurants - the seafood one has great food.

Restaurants were overbooked. Thus only able to access a la carte 3/7 days. That was booking immediately upon arrival. Very disappointing Limited english language amongst staff. Other than front desk and guest services (not typical in the Mayan 8 previous visits) extraordinary grounds excellent fitness facility beautiful beach with adequate chairs well maintained pools Buffet - average Ala carte Italian - average, Mexican - above average, Spanish - below average

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Super clean hotel during Covid

Great small resort . Very clean. Friendly staff , good food. We paid more for the private restaurant and better room. Had a separate pool and a separate part on the beach. The restaurant was ok same menu for a week but enough choice just be aware that the service there is very slow and they are a bit unorganized! Barcelo Huatulco: Barcelo Huatulco

This resort had virtually everything we hoped for in a sunny destination all-inclusive. It was not too large, It was clean, in good repair, casual yet tasteful, well staffed and felt safe. The beach access was close and easy. Loungers and palapas were provided free of charge, you had the choice between full sun exposure and shade around the pool or on the beach. The Airport was reasonably close too. The beach and ocean floor has nice sand. Ocean water was clean but I would suggest increased level of caution for children & non-swimmers as wave break was right at the shore and undertow strong most days.
