Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Great resort.

Food is excellent. Nice resort layout and never felt crowded. Cant swim in the ocean though as it is too rough. Needs another restaurant for variety on longer stays. Lots to do within walking distance.

The Decameron is like my home away from home. The staff are so very friendly, that includes everyone, the cleaning staff, the grounds staff, the administration staff, the entertainment staff, but mostly the manager Ricardo and the reservation manager Julio.

The Resort was great. The staff was very friendly and always wanting to make you laugh and enjoy yourself. The pools were beautiful with plenty of pool chairs to sit in the sun or shade. Great entertainment during the day, and the shows in the evening were always different and entertaining.

The resort is nicely spread out, which is a actually a nice feature, as it allows you to explore and get in some exercise! ;) Our room was in building 5 on the top floor. Yes, a few steps up and down, and definitely appreciated! There is no elevator! Staff is always there to carry luggage up and down, just call the front desk! Upon arrival your bags are tagged with your room number and the bags are delivered promptly with a smile! Building 5 in itself was very quiet, since it 'houses' the adult/ [... read more]quiet pool. The only noise was between 9->10:30pm when the show was on at the outdoor theatre next door, no big deal. The shows were really, really well done and keep kids and adults engaged and entertained. Since my son (12) was not allowed to 'use' the pool at building 5, we just went to building 6 (2 mins) or frequented the other pools near building 1 and 4; it was a bit of a walk, yet we did not mind. Or we went to the beach, which was 7 mins away and my son enjoyed the snorkelling there! The pools in general are open either until 6pm or 7pm. And then the 'area' undergoes a vigorous cleaning!! The resort is immaculately well kept, everyone does such a fantastic job!!! I noticed that this resort is well frequented by more senior people/retirees, mostly Canadians. There were a few kids, younger than my son, so the activities offered were more geared towards smaller children. It was nice to see that the resort is also visited by quite a few Mexican families, it was a good mix for sure! The animation team is hard at work to offer yoga ( great! ), Spanish lessons, dance lessons, games, etc. A Mexican wedding took place at the beach the evening arrived, that was neat to watch. More or less every night they set up a mini open air market near building 1/2 and you can browse, buy jewellery, bargain and have fun! The food was AMAZING, the variety just blew me away. I work in the hospitality/aviation industry and I have to say the chefs are doing a fantastic job! Our building had a restaurant that had buffet style bfast and lunch; and in the evening it turned into a Thai and Japanese restaurant, one needed reservations. There were two buffet style restaurants that offered dinner a short walk from our building. Every night they had a different theme. So, so much food was on display; it was overwhelming at times, esp. the dessert selection for the Mexican feature night... I can see how one can easily gain weight...lots of weight...plus the free drinks...some people got a bit 'carried away'.. oh well...;) The staff in the restaurants was very, very nice and tried their best to remember one's name...a very friendly and thoughtful gesture indeed! The resort was VERY well kept, so VERY clean; our room was cleaned later in the day, no issues with that. It is nice that Bucerias is only a short walk either on the beach or road; we made good use of that, went to the market, got ice cream and ventured out for dinner one evening. The area appeared very safe. People were not too pushy, or tried to sell you everything you so don't need! On Thursday we booked a sailboat trip to Yelapa with Pegaso Charters and that was certainly the highlight of our trip. We got to see dolphins, walked up to the waterfalls in Yelapa, enjoyed lunch on the beach and went snorkelling; the cost was US $ 80 each and SO worth it. The Air Transat reps at the resort were always very helpful; same applies to every resort staff member, lots of smiles and cheerful faces! I understand why the resort is especially sought after by more 'senior' folks and why they come back! It was a great way for us to get to know the area and be at this lovely resort. Oh, I wanted to mention the iguana tree, which is the home to 40+ iguanas; fascinating to see them up close and it was a treat to have that tree right next to our building, for us to watch them daily! Grand Decameron Los Cabos: nice clean place to stay

we had a great week. I gave it a 3 star because of the food - lack of variety, only one nice restaurant (which was difficult to get in to and complicated with reservation requirements etc). Rooms were clean but bathrooms pretty old and tired. Staff was fantastic - staff made up for other shortfalls.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Awesome resort!

From the minute we arrived at the resort we had excellent service. Staff are amazing! From Adrien when we arrived to Bory and Letanya at the La Bamba restaurant, to Gabriel at the private beach club, so friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and no shortage of choices. Would recommend this resort and would return. Very family friendly and clean. Beach was very good for swimming. Probably one reason it isn't rated as a 5 star is because it is an older resort.

Grand Decameron Panama: A Panamanian Paradise

The hotel was beautifully laid out and the grounds were immaculately kept. There was great attention to detail and cleanliness. The food was amazing and the variety mind-boggling! It was such a bonus to get the a la carte restaurants included in the price .The food was delicious and the meals at The Catch of the Day and the Fusion del Mar were our favourites. The staff were so pleasant, courteous and extremely helpful. Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Beautiful Resort

Exceeded expectations! Beautiful grounds, perfect location, whale watching from our balcony. Food was delicious, plenty of variety of drinks. Meticulous grounds keeping. Lots of beach chairs at pool and on beach, unlimited towel service. Entertainment staff was exceptional- S/O to Hugo, Pollux and Lily. Expect staff to know your name the minute you arrive and remember it throughout your stay. Would recommend this hotel.

Grand Decameron Panama: Large resort, good food, clean

Excellent resort, a little older but well traken care of, staff are great, very clean, lots of activities available, food was good, large resort, lots of walking, staff were nice. Had a great time. Entertainment was good, Late night is more quiet, alot of bars and restaurants.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: 5 Star Experience at a 3 Star Resort

My husband and I arrived in Jamaica on Mar 7, 2015, for a one week vacation at the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean.  We booked a gardenview cottage, with king sized bed and mini-fridge in our room as special requests. I am mid-forties and he is in his early 50's.  We booked our trip through Trip Central in Bedford, NS.  We normally stick to mid to large size 4.5 to 5 star resorts but were looking for a completely different experience this year.  The opportunity to stay in a bungalow sealed th [... read more]e deal for us going to the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean. The ride to the Resort from the airport was about an hour and 20 minutes, including a stop to drop people off at the Bahia.   We arrived at the Royal Decameron around 12:30, so our cottage was not yet ready.  The front desk desk did all of the normal check in things to get us ready for when our cottage became available.  At checkin we paid $20.00 for 24 hours of internet (you spread this out over the week by logging in and out), $14.00 for a safe for the week and $35.00 to have a mini fridge in our cottage.  Front desk staff was excellent, not only during checkin but anytime we went up through the week.  They were attentive, friendly and always made us feel like a valued guest. We then went off to have lunch and explore while we waiting for our room.  We went into the buffet where it was clear to staff that we were new.  We were given a little tour of the buffet and everything was pointed out to us.  First time anywhere that has happened.  Really felt good and lunch was good to! First impression was of a very clean, very friendly and beautifully landscaped resort.  Size wise it was a fair amount bigger than we had anticipated it would.  For a small resort it is well spread out. At around 2:00 we decided to take a chance and see if our cottage was ready, it was.  We were promptly escorted to cottage 132.  The cottage was fantastic, so rustic.  The main area is large with a bed, dresser, two small tables, chairs and a sofa bed/futon. You also have a flat screen TV.  The closet (the safe is in here as well) is a good sized walkin area.  The bathroom is roomy with a large shower.  You have two adirondak chairs outside on the patio as well.  These are cottages, they are not super fancy but they are perfect for the feel of this resort.   The maid did a wonderful job of keeping our cottage clean and stocked.  She never missed an opportunity to wish us a good morning.  Our room was cleaned by 10:00am everyday. We ate lunch at both the Jasmine Delta and the buffet.  Both were good, jerk chicken wings were awesome!  Breakfast was in the main buffet and was excellent.  The actually had someone manning the bacon station, which we thought was a great idea.  Never once did we have to worry about not getting any. There are two a la cartes, we only tried the Jasmine Delta, Thai one.  My husband had the Pad Thai and I had the beef teriaki.  Mine was very good, his not so much.  After that we just stuck to the buffet which was good most nights. There are lots of place to get drinks and lots of non-alcoholic choices.  The drinks are all very good, as is the beer.  They definitely don't water anything down here and my hubby was thrilled that they had Pepsi! The beaches were very nice.  It was very windy while we were there so the water was quite stirred up and wavy as would be expected.  The water was still nice to be in.  We never needed our water shoes for the beach.  The beaches were clean with lots of loungers available all the time, and the resort was full while we were there.  Really really nice to go to a resort where the towel game wasn't played at all.  Anytime of day we could have had a lounger at the pool or beach.  Shaded or not shaded didn't matter, you could always find one. The pools were smaller but we weren't there for the pools so it didn't matter to us.  Lots of pool floaties if you wanted as well.  We swam up at the quiet pool once just to say we did.  We spent a lot of time hanging out at the main pool where there was plenty of seating and the entertainment took place. There are also tennis courts, basket ball, shuffleboard, giant chess, a gym and a kids club.  There were very few young children at the resort and we didn't see anyone using the kids club.  There were also massages down at a gazebo on the beach. There was nightly entertainment outside the resort and we could hear the music but by then we were so tired it didn't matter.  This is Jamaica and the people love their music so we have to respect that they too like to let loose in the nights.  We are just visitors. The entertainment crew at this resort is spectacular.  We had so much fun with them, watching them and because of them.  They truly made this a vacation we won't forget.   All of the staff here is friendly, welcoming and just gives you a feeling of belonging.  It is different then any other places we have ever been.  It is a feeling that is hard to put to words. Prices at the gift shop were reasonable for most things when we compared them with other places. I had no issues exchanging my Canadian dollars for Jamaican dollars at the front desk or using Canadian dollars when that was all I had on me. We only did one organized excursion, just had too much on the resort.  We did the Chukka Catamaran.  It was a blast! We met so many great people and had such a great time!  I know this is classed as a 3 star resort but we truly had a 5 star experience and I would take that over a 5 star resort with a 3 star experience any day!   This is one resort I know we will be back to! If you are looking for the marble and glam of a big resort this may not be for you, but if you are looking for a laid back, relaxing and friendly experience this is perfect.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Enjoyable resort

Upon arriving at the reservation desk we were immediately disappointed to be told that Upon arriving we were told that our reservation was being changed until at least the next day as the garden bungalow reserved was not available. This was a complaint come to reality that was mentioned as common practice at this resort in many reviews we had read before coming here. The apparent upgrade was nicely furnished and large, but the constant barking dogs and extremely loud music all night long made sl [... read more]eep an impossibility. the next morning, after complaining again, we were told to come back in the afternoon - at that time we were transferred to a garden bungalow. After that things picked up: staff was overall very accommodating, food at the Seafood, Thai, and buffet restaurants was amazing, weather was fantastic, beach was acceptable - however, the bottom is quite rocky(wear water shoes) and the water at this time was very cloudy or sandy making snorkeling, which we truly enjoy, impossible.

It is too bad that a beautiful destination vacation has to be ruined by sub-standard food! Generally most was overcooked, and quite criminal that crabs had been sacrificed for no reason, as they were inedible. The grounds were nice, the weather was perfect!

Grounds were well maintained, rooms were clean, a la carte restaurants were tasty - would love to have more than 2 to choose from but they were good. Disco was closed every night until the show put on by the hotel was over, then most guests returned to their rooms with some staying at the bar outside. Disco was empty every night which was disappointing. Would be nice to have the option of seeing the show (mediocre) or going to the disco instead. Grand Decameron Panama: Good Resort

My suggestion is that you fly into Scarlett Martinez Airport which is five minutes away as opposed to Tucomen Airport which is about 2 to 2-1/2 hours away. As well, there was nothing close to the resort. Our Beachfront room location was good with a lovely view of the garden and ocean. Garden view rooms were far away from restaurants and beach. Meals were ok but inferior compared to other places we've stayed. Huge inconvenience was dinner. This was totally unacceptable as when on holiday I do not want to think about making reservations for dinner three days in advance. Since this is a large resort, management should think of having at least two restaurants open for dinner with no required reservations. If the resort would like to run a lacart restaurants, staff should be trained to provide such service. Most times we had hardly touch our salads before our dinner arrived. By the time we got to the dinner, it was cold. The scheduled time between sittings were adequate, but for some reason, the staff just rushed the diners through to get them out ASAP. The beach was nice, however, more shelter should be provided. We were never able to locate an umbrella or cabana and therefore had to limit our time outside as it is extremely hot. Staff spoke limited English, therefore there was no interaction. Even smiles and gestures of appreciation in our limited Spanish often failed to even raise a smile from most of them. The most efficient were the housekeeping staff. We feel that the resort catered primarily to Spanish and French speaking visitors. There were few employees who spoke even limited English. I feel that there should be at least one English speaking employee at reception at all times to cater for emergency situations, e.g., illnesses, etc. Again I reiterate that this is a very large resort and many visitors spoke English in addition to other languages.

Great resort. However everything was catered to people speaking french. Beginning with resort Information, the welcome information and excursion info was in French, being addressed in French, shows at night (in fact a stage was educated to frebch shows) and a beach party entirely in french. Very disappointing.

The hotel was nice. The rooms were simple and there is no stocked fridge. There were not as many shops but the variety was still okay. The food at the buffet was okay but the restaurants were excellent.

Resort is big but not huge. YOU can easily go from one point to another by foot. Grounds are nice, rooms are clean, food is OK. Rooms are basic (very basic)- like no fan in the bathroom, just open a window... Perfect resort if you are over 69 years young. drinks are good, music played at the bars is perfect. Entertainment- not that great. Embarrassing moments at times. You can avoid them, as they only stay at one of the pools. Over-all I give it a 6 out of 10. Location is not great either. Be pr [... read more]epared to pay 25USD every time you want to go somewhere (even in the paid trips- no transportation from this hotel). Do not go with children there. Not a family resort.

Grand Decameron Panama: our get away

Check in was so organized, easy and fast and your luggage was taken directly to your room. Simply put the trip was sensational. Beach great, pools fantastic with no shortage of chairs and you could always find a pool to suit your needs( quiet for reading, games to play, lounges inside one pool or adult only), food great, rooms good, beds fantastic-very comfortable, very well maintained and staff eager to help, although some have very limited English. All the signage is in Spanish and English tho [... read more]ugh. We seen iguanas and peacocks just walking around, It was amazing. It is a fairly big complex and if you are not beach front prepare to walk up and down hills daily to eat. The only negatives were the 2 hour bus ride to get here and the limited English speaking so if that does not bother you, what are you waiting for book it.

We liked the resort it was cute and cozy, the staff were nice, the rooms were good, the beer they serve isn't that good, they don't offer corona, food was ok, cant swim in the ocean. We liked the pub across the street as it has the coldest beer in town and very cheap. The disco was always empty and most people at the resort were over 50 years old, so it is quiet in the evenings. Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Great week away :) Wish I was back

The grounds were beautiful and enjoyable, rooms were tidy and cleaned everyday, food was good for the most part...(breakfast wasn't a favourite). Activity crew were friendly but not pushy, resort was close to san jose and not a bad drive to cabos san lucas. We went in a group of 8 and we all had a blast. I wasn't ready to leave.
