Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Grand Aston Varadero Resort

The hotel is new, nice, spacious and clean throughout. However there’s some ocasional shortage: eg. napkins, cereals, butter, pina colada, martini, Jin-tonic. Food seems to repeat the same very often. But overall they are trying their hardest considering they are new, with not sufficient employees.

Melia Las Antillas: Great

Flight uneventful,really liked that we could fly out of Kitchener. Since flight was not full we could have a middle seat between us ( bonus ) Transfer to hotel quick and very organized. Hotel ,dated but clean. Room supersaver was a ground floor room facing garden. Room A/ C worked to well,couldn't adjust temperature,but better than too warm. Mix poured over ice with rum. No red wine for a few days. Hop on Off bus great. Tip: There is a small restaurant & shop down the street and across the road( at the water) Rum considerably cheaper than hotel or in town. Also large container of natural honey much cheaper. $ in U.S. By cash or credit. Overall nice area. Very touristy and busy ( for our liking )

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Royalton Hicacos

Overall I would say the Royalton is a good resort, it does look a little dated, the beds are very firm and the tub/shower is a little awkward, but we did have warm water every day. If people have mobility issues, the shower could be an issue for them, as well as the elevator that does not work, so they would have to get up to the buffet and a few restaurants by using the stairs. We had no complaints about the food and were pleasantly surprised by the options available. They have a crepe sta [... read more]tion in the mornings, eggs being made to order, as well as many other options. They don't have the typical juice options like apple, orange, etc., but they blend fresh juice every morning with what they have, often watermelon, pineapple, guava, etc. We were able to get into all of the al le carte restaurants for dinner and only ate at the buffet twice for dinner, but again lots of options. They had salad options everyday, and they even had leaf lettuce. They had decent wine, red, white, rose and most places had sparking wine as well. A lot of reviews I read said that Diamond club was a must, we did not get diamond club and am glad that we didn't pay the extra. They had a person on our side of the beach that would come and take drink orders for us, and then deliver our drinks. Like I said, we were able to get into all the restaurants without having to make a reservation. I don't know that there is a big difference in rooms for diamond club vs regular? A few people that we spoke to that had diamond club said they didn't get any different booze options. We also have access to butlers, they are there to answer any questions, help with excursion bookings, etc. They were able to book us into a restaurant for our anniversary. We went to Havana for a day trip and booked with Explore Cuba with Lucy. We had a classic car for the day with a driver and Lauren was our guide and she spoke excellent english. It was a full day trip, but she gave us lots of info and showed us all around. Overall it was a good trip, we enjoyed our time away.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Paradisus Princess Del Mar

The resort itself is immaculate, which really impressed us. We had problems with our first room as the power kept going out so they shuffled us in the dark, not lending a hand at all to a room down the hall. Same exact room. Very clean. However, Glen was on the deck and noticed the sliding door handle was broken, obviously hadn’t been fixed. Our toilet ran all the time as well. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Horrible Resort

We arrived at the resort and the reception personnel were not welcoming or helpful. We got our room and it was definitely not what we expected. Broken shower, air conditioner not working, smelled bad. We complained to front desk and after 3 attempts plus talking to the customer services manager they would not move us. The food at the buffet and other restaurants was absolutely terrible. We spoke to the west jet rep the next day and they were able to get us moved to a new resort for day 3 of our [... read more] trip. The next resort was a down grade but room was all working and reasonable as well as the food being 110% better. Overall we still enjoyed our trip but will never return to Cuba again. I am hoping that I can speak to someone with Trip advisor/West jet vacations about a partial refund due to the nature of events.

Palma Real: Paradise at Palma Real

An older hotel but incredibly welcoming and inviting from checking in to the wonderful men who struggled with our luggage to the room and to the girls at the bar all smiing running to greet us The entertainment at pool bar was fun and entertaining they have amazing people here too The food was beautifully presented and amazingly decorated with what they have to work with Ocean was a short walk which was great exercise The whole trip was fun amazing and cant wait to go back soon!

Selectum Family Resort Varadero: Fabulous!!!

This is the best Cuban all inclusive resort I've experienced thus far. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained, the staff are friendly and extremely attentive and the food is great. A better selection of fresh fruit is my only criticism, but I believe many Cuban resorts are probably dealing with supply issues. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for a terrific vacation.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: 3rd Visit and another Gem!

This was our 3rd visit, and first since the "plague". Another fun, relaxed experience. It is important to have a proper expectation when visiting Cuba, this was our 7th trip to the island. They make the best with what they have, with a heart felt smile, and are very engaging, you just need to smile back! As return visitors, we received a few little perks; a nice bottle of rum in our beautiful room, and an extra al a carte night, which was very appreciated. The beach lounger chairs are tired, I think the are the ones from the pool, as those are replaced. The food was excellent. There are shortages of different things but we always had something different, and delicious. What keeps us coming back? The staff! Beach bartenders Maday and Richard, and Yusmila at the Piano Bar are fantastic! Seek them out and you will love them! Guest experience staff Lili and Tony, were very helpful, always with a smile. Can't wait until next year!

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Will not go again

The Rooms where moldy . No evenings or night divertissement such as shows ect.. Staff were a bit rude at the bars, they were talking on the phone while serving beer . The elevators malfunctioning, I personally have gotten stuck on the 6th floor in the elevator for about half an hour.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Great potential

Nice new resort, beautiful design. Staff not very attentive and couldn't understand English very well. Food tasted very good but very boring as same food selections served at every meal, every day. A'la carte food was good but extremely small portions. Rooms were cleaned well, but elevator & hallways were not cleaned well at all. Cuban restaurant was extremely poor service. We ordered a drink 3 times and waited over an hour to get it, it was an hour and half to get food served to us. Overall I think the resort has great potential but things need to be more efficient, and staff needs to be more friendly and knowledgeable.

Starfish Varadero: Starfish Varadero Paradise

The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff are amazing throughout. From being greeted at checkin by Ismaray Dominguez, to having luggage transported by the witty Yasser (he said drinks are on him all week), it was a great start after a short shuttle from the airport. The bungalow was clean, a little dated, and the A/C issue was quickly rectified, but, the room is the place we spend the least amount of time and the bed was comfortable. Maria Esther Valdez Alfonso for the land sports activities was very sweet, and loved to chat. Alfredo Rodriguez, concierge, chatted with us by the pool for nearly 30 minutes sharing a bit about life in Cuba. What a character. The beach and the clear blue waters were stunning. Windy certain days, as usual in Cuba, but, spent much time sitting beneath a parapa soaking up the sun with a cold beverage in hand. The restaurants were decent. Always found something to eat at each meal. Not great, but, good enough. Never go with expectations and you are never disappointed. I was actually pleasantly surprised at the food. Heard a lot of resorts did not have bacon or eggs, we had eggs everyday, and bacon most days and plenty of choice for dinners. A-la-carte dinner at Spoons was the best, the salmon was a hit. Missed having french fries to snack on, but, not the end of the world. The shows and activities around the pool were entertaining. I wish I could remember all the names, because all the staff were amazing. I can't say enough about them. Overall I give the Starfish a 5 star review and we look forward to returning in 2025.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: It’s Cuba

Stayed a week, end Jan into Feb. We enjoyed our stay, room was nice AC worked, good shower. Beach is amazing, go early in the morning to put your towels on a chair to make sure you get one. Make sure to put Teatree oil in all your body wash, shampoo conditioner and make a spray bottle with vodka and tea tree oil to spray from your kneecaps down every morning and night. We always found something to eat and drink. There was a coffee bar that served amazing hot and cold coffees.. I always bring a bottle of Baileys, and I really didn’t need it this trip. I would return, but would paid the extra to book to /privilege. I tried to upgrade once we arrived, the cost was $60 US a night and they didn’t have anything available when we arrived so we didn’t bother. With the status you have your own pool bar and apparently they have better selection and a Restaurant that people said had better selection.

Blau Varadero: Great resort!

Stayed in the Oceanview select room on the 8th floor. The room was beautiful spacious and clean. Maid service was phenomenal! Designs on my bed daily, the room was always immaculate when she left. Food was very good! A bit of wait in the buffet because there are a lot of people at the resort but only 2 a la carte resturants. Beach is a beautiful area with lots of room. Starfish Varadero: 5th trip to Starfish Varadero

We always enjoy our stay at Starfish Varadero. Stayed Jan 18th to Feb 1st. We like to spend our days at the beach but this year spent more time at the pools. Very windy , cool and strong waves at the beach for 7 out of 14 days. We enjoyed the entertainment especially the orange/foam party at the main pool as well as relaxing on the beds at the quiet pool. The gardeners do a fantastic job of keeping the grounds groomed and are always friendly. The food in buffet is usually cold and lacking i [... read more]n variety. Always pork, rice,pumpkin (squash in Canada),usually chicken&hamburgers, overcooked pasta, baked beans. Always delicious ice cream for dessert. Considering the situation in Cuba the past 2 years the resorts get what they can. We never left the buffet hungry. The a la cartes were always very good. We had a lovely salmon dinner at both Spoons and Milans. Overall for a 3.5 star and the price we paid for a 2 week vacation , we feel Starfish was a good choice.

Roc Barlovento: Fantastic budget hotel

I've stayed at plenty of wonderful resorts over the years in cuba, and for the price point of this hotel people should very happy. Go to cuba for the beaches, the people. Bread is pretty fantastic as well!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: It`s Cuba Baby

This was our 4th time to this resort and our first post covid. Things are not the same things run short including the Rum on TWO (2) different days. Everything was OK but as another couple said it Needs a Refresh and We agree a couple of huge windows in the lounge area were missing but on our last day they were working on one so. The Coffee bar was yum the entertainment was fine especially the 2 pcs string group in the coffee bar they are awesome. the BEACH was incredible as ever . The poo [... read more]l was great until the entertainment group cranked the Stereo to 10+ . None of our group went Hungry or Dry but don`t expect Pina Colada`s anymore and think of basic Drinks as the Coconut Liquor and others are not available anywhere even at the tourist shops or the Duty Free. In talking to other people all the resorts seem to be short something for us no Pasta or French fries.. For others no maid service for 2 or more days one resort was short of Toilet Paper.every resort had something short or an issue like no elevators. So No pasta and running the bar s out of Rum was on the whole we did OK. PS the sailing and snorkeling trip had french fries and pasta that fixed that craving oh and Lots of RUM.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great place to go !

First trip to Cuba and won’t be the last to this resort ! I found the Cuban people amazing , so nice ! People working at the resort tray one another like Faniky and also treated us like family. They appreciate visitors and try their best to make you ahve a great time! I felt the all who work Here take great pride in their work! Hotel setting was great , beach was fabulous ,soft sand , clear water , very few sea weeds. no big waves services was great but the choice of meals was OK and needs improvement in that the stations at the buffet were the same each day both for lunch and dinner. The restaurants were not outstanding but provided a change. We were told that you did not need reservations for the restaurants, it was first come basis ,but the Diamond club membe [... read more]rs could walk in at anytime and this was not fair especially if you have been waiting for 1/2 hour to get in and then refused entry. They should make the reservations ahead so that we know if there is a possibility of getting a table. Wifi was very difficult and we had to go the front reception area to get connected. The elevator was out of order and that made it very difficult for people who had physical problems and were using walkers. The buffet , and 3 other restaurants were all located on the second floor. We enjoyed our stay . We would give this place 4 stars

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Not impressed

The hotel and grounds were fine. The food was almost exactly the same every day for lunch and dinner anyway. The staff were okay for the most part. We were under the impression we could go to solymar also but were told no. That was another disappointment. Overall not a really great vacation o

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Iberostar Bella Vista

We stayed at this resort 5 yrs. ago when it was new. It has gone downhill since then but was still good. Our room had a beautiful ocean view, the food at the snack bar was always good and the bartenders at the beach bar were fantastic. When guests leave and they change the bedding wash the bedskirt to or remove it all together it was so disgusting. The food in buffet wasn’t the best nor were some of the drinks but we did fine and had a good time overall.
