Hotel Playa Paraiso: Avoid Russian owned hotel

This hotel resort was the worst and I've been to cuba many times. The Safes never opened, the door locks and key cards dont work as batteries are all dead. The food was lacking and the pizza place wasn't open. The snack bar menu stated fries and poutine all they had was ham sandwiches. There was no coffee bar open and the cappuccino was not good. We were told by all staff that Russians are coming to buy the resort May 30th. One Russian tourist had a fight with his wife at bar and broke her  [... read more]leg. Another Russian tourist grabbed a buffet worker by the face demanding she do what he wanted. 2 Russians drowned at the resort next door for not obeying ocean flags...my trip was a disaster. The staff are super friendly. Sadly I fed alot of them as they are not allowed in buffet until before or end of guest use. And they get fed the crap spaghetti. I gave pastries even to the front desk workers. AVOID THIS RESORT. Go to holguin Paridisus de oro

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: True paradise

Amazing resort with so much elegance and class. It is an older resort but very charming. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by very professional and friendly Sesia , front desk conciege. We were upgraded to ocean view room, which was amazing. Room are very spacious and bright, cleaned daily . Everything worked in our room. We had hot water and electricity without any interruption. People in the buffet were exceptional and friendly. Everyone was wonderful, but exceptional were Jaima, Mayra and Jamile , cleaning Lady in the buffet . Workers on the beach were also wonderful. Every worker was exceptional and worked so hard to make our stay pleasant. We had an abundance of delicious food..everything was fresh and tasty.. there was a lot of see food, I personally don't eat see food, but saw many people enjoying it. Entertainment personal worked very hard daily . It was a pleasure to meet Osmani. Beaches are absolutely mesmerizing..True paradise..no seaweeds, just crystal clear water . You simply enjoy and relax. Absolutely amazing place. Would highly recommend it and definitely will be back

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent stay

Lungana azul once again was great. The food was ok booking the vip section well worth it as you really don’t have to go to buffet. Drinks were great there was no shortage of anything Rooms were good there is a few things that should be updated but not a big deal Staff are great and always making you feel welcome Overall it was a great vacation and will be returning again next year to this resort for the fifth time Go with a open mind and you will love it

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Excellent stay

Lungana azul once again was great. The food was ok booking the vip section well worth it as you really don’t have to go to buffet. Drinks were great there was no shortage of anything Rooms were good there is a few things that should be updated but not a big deal Staff are great and always making you feel welcome Overall it was a great vacation and will be returning again next year to this resort for the fifth time Go with a open mind and you will love it

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good resort

Good resort. Grounds are well maintained. Food was OK, always something to eat. I didn't like the open buffet due to food being exposed to flies. Beach was very beautiful. Staff not very friendly. Long bus ride. I did get sick, so remember to bring gravol and imodium.

Sanctuary White Sands: Beautiful beach nice pools

Beautiful resort only 14 months old the Cuban people are wonderful people and appreciative and I would like to thank Sandra DeFaria for keeping us in the loop through our trip booking .Will be in touch Sandra D for our next booking.

Blau Varadero: Amazing

This is our fourth time going to this resort. Great service, great people to deal with. Food,pool and beach are great. Will definitely be back again.Would recommend this resort ti anybody. Met lots of great people from Canada

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Very affordable holiday. Nice resort but needs some TLC.

We stayed here about 16 years ago and the place was very nice. On this return trip, it was obvious that Memories Flamenco is an older resort. It needs a complete paint and plaster job inside and out to the rooms and buildings to make them more up to date and fresher. The bed was very comfortable. Very good water pressure in the shower with plenty of hot water. Cleaning staff and serving staff were great and very friendly. The pool was well maintained with some newly added poolside beds and perg [... read more]olas. The food was some of the best we've had over our our several Cuban vacations. Didn't appear to be any supply issues like last year.

Melia Costa Rey: Nice beach, hotel so-so

Our expectations, based on other people’s reviews for this hotel and our last year’s trip to another Melia resort in Cuba, were probably too high… Disappointed with rooms (e.g. small ants everywhere, including in bed at some point, quite aggressive), buffet food (passable, you will not leave hungry but quality of the cooked food is mediocre, at best) and general state of the resort (a 15yr old working a summer job in Canada will do a much better job at renovating / no green grass to speak of, ev [... read more]erything is parched / pools not clean / beaten up furniture / bathroom doors that don’t close, you get the idea). On the positive side: a very nice beach, new palapas and beach chairs, good selection of drinks, good service in restaurants and bars, good entertainment. I would not go back though, negatives outweigh these positives.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: a great week

lovely small resort. Perfect for quiet relaxation Stunning beach ,could use more palapas,sadly the seaweed piles up and there is one poor guy raking and removing by hand. A slow process but they do what they can Food was better than a lot of Cuban resorts and though the buffet here is small we never felt we couldn't find something to enjoy. Excellent coffee available especially at the cigar bar, Best cappachino and baileys and espresso martinis !! Wine was very good and never unavailable. We never noticed any real shortages here ! Our swim up room was awesome!! we were in building 4 which was central to the beach and the lobby/buffet area. Staff that we interacted with were wonderful and willing to accomodate our requests if possible. All in all I was very pleased with our stay at The Iberostar Coral Esmeralda !!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Third trip already this year to Club Amigo!

I’ve been to Club Amigo 4 times. Once with family, once with a friend, and twice alone. The resort is clean, beach is breathtaking, staff are amazing, and the guests are lovely. Everyone complains about the food but I’ve never gone hungry. Probably not the best spot if you are picky or have dietary restrictions. The drinks are always flowing. I can’t wait to go back again.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Interstate Daiquiri in Cuba

I can not express this enough-the staff members of the Daiquiri are Amazing. From the staff to the serving staff, to the bartenders and garden staff are so friendly and accommodating. The beach, for me, left a lot to be desired. The water is very “grassy” and did not give the water view I was looking for. The area is windy, which is great for the wind surfers and kite surfing. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing beach, best I have ever seen... Everything else was pretty sub par.

Beach was definitely a 5/5 beautiful, plenty of shade when wanted, plenty of sand bars. Rooms were clean, A/C worked well and plenty of hot water. Just dated and old... glass doors on the toilets was an odd choice... Food was extremely disappointing, I lived in the Dominican for 6 years, fruits and veggies are the cheapest best things on any island. Yet everything that was served was canned or pineapple so under ripe it was rock hard. The Papaya was local... Chicken was tasty but not much e [... read more]lse was very good. Sadly the buffet was better than the a la cartes, the service was good but their attempts at Asian/Italian showed how little quality ingredients they had on hand. Booze was not of any quality names, no fun island drinks. Mixes were all from powder, and to top it all off the bars were fully stocked come 2pm but that's all the was put out when you drank everything on the shelf and was never replenished. We arrived to the hotel at 10:30pm the main bar had draft beer and gin remaining.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Amazing hotel

This resort is is close to the beach. you have two options either to use the hotel's swimming pools or go to the ocean a stone's throw away. What I particularly like was the unlimited food and drinks at the restaurant and bar. I also noticed that the staff were friendly , the rooms also very neat. I have been visiting Cuba since the last 14 years. This resort stands out as one of the neatest..

Melia Cayo Coco: May short gate away

Spent four days at Melia Cayo Coco an adults only resort . The grounds are very clean, rooms are spacious but outdated. No outlets with USB ports so make sure you bring all the cables you need to charge your devices. Bufet: same food every day, no variety. I am not a picky eater but I was not found of all the black flies present in the restaurant and on the food. But, you can find something to eat at any time. No fries, but this did not bother me at all. Service: wonderful Very friendly staf [... read more]f ! Beach and water amazing!!!! Drinks: ok, found some were very deluded ….but if you can find one from a brand new bottle being opened in front of you…you mighty be able to enjoy it. Entertainment: enjoyed beautiful performance from local artists in the lobby. Very, very talented people. No evening shows and most of the noise is around the pool which we are not interested in as we came for the beach end the ocean. Cigars: try to buy what you need from the hotel, airport prices -which were supposed to be duty free ….are actually more expensive Overall good trip, no complaints! .

Melia Las Dunas: Another wonderful trip

My husband I just returned form Melia Las Dunas for the 9th time on May 5th. We love the resort and the people in it. The hotel may be getting a little older now and has a few small issues, but it could never out way the amazing time you will have here. Our hearts are with the hard working, people pleasing staff that are there. Special shout outs to Kirenia and her amazing hubby Oramyee, Yusleidy, Andry, Yohanan, Diego and Tony. Melia Las Americas: Very Nice

The hotel was very clean and well kept. The grounds were kept clean and manicured to look nice.The food selections were good. The bread was outstanding might be the best that i have had. The service in the buffet was very good. The hotel was quiet and if you were going to look for a place to just relax this is the place. Its geared to couples so there was not much late night action going on. The entertainment was very good. Selectum Family Resort Varadero: Amazing resort!

My husband and I and my two little boys stayed here for a week, April 25 to May 2. We had a blast, all the staff for excellent, very friendly and were at your service for whatever you needed. Food and drinks were great. We have zero complaints as we love Cuba and feel it is the safest place to travel.I totally recommend.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Great Resort

Hotel is clean, staff are great, food is good, and beach is amazing! We loved this resort, had a wonderful time, and would go back. My mom required a wheelchair, and one was provided. Customer Service was great, and helpful when we needed towels, and a wheelchair. I would go back!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Just ok

Ok for Cuba. Royalton has a good reputation and we have been in a few of their different locations. So generally when we choose our destination, Royalton is the first one we consider. We love Cuba, the people and Varadero beach is one of a kind. Positive for Hotel, really liked the service offered by Rene and Roberto to be the point of contact. The  [... read more]stair cases and hallways of the building we stayed wasn’t clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating if they were given tips except the bartenders and servers at the main bar. They were not happy even with the tip. Not approachable. Not friendly. Lots of attitude It seemed they really didn’t want to be there except only one short hair blond lady server a bit older. She was smiling and super nice. It seemed the young dark hair server and the bar tenders needed a bit of a pick me up drinks or we didn’t tip enough - not sure what the issue was !! Negative : supplies - No one goes to Cuba for food and this is not our first time going to Cuba either and we are fully aware of the economic hardship over there but if you are running a resort in Cuba you have to at least have some fruits. The fruits being sold by the farmers in town were great and it seemed they had plenty. Not sure how the Royalton can’t afford a ripe Papaya, and watermelon or enough supplies of mangos. Overall the hotel was good unfortunately won’t go back to Cuba for various reasons but if we did, we probably choose Royalty again. Also our arrival time was late , past midnight, the service could have been a bit better. We had to carry our own luggages to our building which was far. A buggy ride would have been useful
