Barcelo Solymar: Great resort
Nice resort. Grounds neat and clean. Stayed in the Bungalows. Nice and out of the way from the crowd. The Solymar is the party side, the Arenas was the quiteer side and more family orientated. Food was fair. Not great but you went away from the buffet full if you want to. Staff friendly. Was happy this resort was close enough to walk into Varadero.
Punta Peninsula Varadero: Good resort
The blau marina was nice. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. We have been to cuba before and know not to expect superior accommodation and fantastic food, this resort was decent for the price we paid.
Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort
3rd time to Sol Palmeras..... Love the hotel and the people that work there. If you are going there to look at all the tiny things that may be wrong.. cracked tile, bug on floor then stay home, no where is perfect.. The food is great, lots of selection and amazing grills with different meats and fish every day for dinner. Lots of different shows and activites at night to keep everyone involved. Price is great and worth the visit.
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Ocean Varadero a modern new resort
This resort is fairly new so don't look for lush vegetation. The rooms are clean and modern and have room darkening drapes. The buffet is a little above Cuban standards and everybody will find something to their liking. Specialty restaurants aren't too bad and you don't need to make reservations, although if you go later you may be but on a waiting list. The lobby bar employees are always having fun and are very entertaining! Big pool, nice beach ( get down early or you will not get a lounger) L [... read more]
Roc Arenas Doradas: Average Joe
This is one of the smaller resort I have been to and the food was not the best but we did not go to Cuba for food. Coffee was great and the staff are very nice and helpful. Musicians are at par and the beach is as expected being in Varadero, white sand. The pool is filthy with guests sitting at the bar drinking all day not going once to the washroom. Guess where they relieve themselves ?? Plastic cups are in the pool floating, just some irresponsible guests who have no respect of the resort. Unl [... read more]
Memories Jibacoa: Not what we expected
First time in Cuba and not what we are use to when winter vacationing.Traveled to Dominican,Mexico,Jamaica and Cuba ,will not be returning to Cuba for a few reasons.Firstly I had no complaints of the cleanliness of the resort, the staff was very friendly for the most part.My only complaint as far as staff goes was that upon our arrival we were given our room numbers and pointed to the direction of our rooms, older bell hop did not offer to help us with our luggage :{.The manager was very friendly [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Laguna Azul should be a seven star rating!!
I have been staying at the Iberostar, Laguna Azul every year for the last seven years and have NO interest of ever going to another resort. From the time I check in until the time I check out, from the food to the maid service is number one with me. It's nice to be treated like a somebody by everybody. I'll be back again next year and every year after until God says it's time to quit.
Memories Jibacoa: Great out of the way get-away
We very much enjoyed our week long stay at Breezes Jibacoa. Our room although not elaborate was very comfortable and quiet and just steps from the beach. The snorkeling was terrific although you might want to bring your own mask. The sailing was included and we really enjoyed our guided sail around the bay. Our Sun Wing guide hooked us up with several great tours of the area and the other side of the island were the snorkeling was even better. We are both Vegans and we found the food to be plent [... read more]
Hotel Los Cactus: Relaxing Resort
Grounds were lush and tropical. Food was ok and drinks were good. Evening entertainment was a bit amateurish but entertaining. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Worth the money. Definitely would return.
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Best place to eat in Cuba, very friendly staff
The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean and good a la carte restaurant quiet at night but lots of entertainment at night if you want to stay up. Beach is beautiful and clean. I will go back for sure
Starfish Jibacoa: Many areas need improvement.
We were told a bungalow, instead we got a motel room, bathroom needed repairs, towels and bed linen were very faded and had holes, we arrived late, and there was nothing available for eating. The staff were exceptional.
Resonance Blu Varadero: over crowded for amount of staff
Over crowded for amount of staff. Food eatable but same taste day after day. Room clean, grounds nice, beach clean, service at al a cartes slow and poor, not polite. Pick up and delivery of suit cases very poor, could not get anybody on telephone for 45 minutes then cart did not arrive, had too walk with baggage nalong with many other people in same situation. Not empressed with desk.
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Looking forward to staying there again
This hotel was the best we have ever stayed at.Good food, pleasing entertainment. Makes you want to return again, Beach perfect. Staff very polite and friendly. Enjoyed taking the double decker bus to the markets. Also the fashion show featuring crochet outfits for both men and women. All the lobster you can eat on Wed
Melia Marina Varadero: A new resort with some up and downs
We have been in Cuba for four times in Holguin and wanted to check out this new resort. Positives: New Hotel, good rooms and beautiful view, foods are good (even with comparing to the other countries) and very helpful employees. Negatives: Entertainment was not that much impressive. Even there is no place for the entertainers to perform (They do it in the hotel Lobby) There are a lot of facilities (Like Bowling , Billiard or specialty bars or restaurants) that you need to pay in order to use th [... read more]
Melia Peninsula Varadero: Hidden Gem in Cuba!
When trying to find a resort in Cuba, my travel advisor at Tripcentral recommended we stay at the Melia Peninsula Veradero. We were thinking of returning to another resort we had stayed because the food was great but we were concerned about staying two weeks and being bored at that place. When our advisor said the food was good, rooms very large, and entertainment fantastic, she was not lying. There was a great variety of food for every tastes as well as several a la carte restaurants. The rest [... read more]
Villa La Mar: Feel like home
Good location, friendly employees, friendly guests. Food is good. Fantastic view. Beautiful beach. Employees are so so so friendly. Full of positive energy. Pool is clean, beautiful. Beds are done so beautifully. Shows at night are so good too!
Grand Memories Varadero: Great Service Great Value!
We had a fabulous week at this resort. There were a variety of food choices and the service was friendly and efficient. The grounds were well kept and the pools pristine. We upgraded to the Adults only section which was well worth it. The private restaurant was amazing and it was great to have the private section of beach which was not busy. Recommend the upgrade for the beach access alone!! Amazing vacation and would definitely stay with RIU again.
Palma Real: great resort
Had a great time at the hotel. Staff were pleasant & helpful, especially our maid & waitress. Rooms were clean, food was good, & lots to eat. Would stay there again. Great location, bank across the street, although not on the beach, it was a quick walk & devine!
Hotel Villa Cuba: Beautiful resort
We travelled to villa Cuba in February 2013. We had a great time! We had an ocean view room! Rooms were clean, no bugs. Food was great! Excellent service. It's close enough to downtown that you could walk there. We travelled with hola sun so we had a free cabaret show. There isn't much for entertainment and the snack bar wasn't very good. This place is great for both partying and relaxing. Pools were clean beach is beautiful as always in varadero. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would definite [... read more]
Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Love Cuba
Overall a good resort. No shortage of food or beverages, always something to eat for those fussy eaters. Very clean, quiet resort. Nice not having kids running around. Rooms need a little updating but they are working on that. Everything was getting a fresh coat of paint.
