Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: clean resort

I found the Senator Resort very clean and staff very friendly. I did find though that the maintenance of issues in the hotel like toilet seat broke, tap not working some light issues and tub drain off tub broke to mention a few were never fixed during our stay. No key for the safe an extra charge. The air transat rep was very good spoke good english and very informative it was worth the welcome invitation visit. The food was ok but got boring after the 5th and 6th day so ate in the bar wa [... read more]s good food there. The beach was clean and the pool area kept very clean. I did wish however some english music would be played during the day. The entertainment at the pool area was good. I would go again if the price was right.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good resort

We stayed in gran ventana 1-15 of November, 2022. We had upgraded package and enjoined vintage club and all privileges that it provided including late check out. Food was good in the buffet. Visited all three restaurants. We did not like service in the ocean grill. Italian restaurant was good. But octopus was the best. Great service, good food. Weather was good. Couple of rains that did not affect our stay. Walked 180 km in 15 days by the beaches. We had some problems with bathroom towels - ma [... read more]ny times came from the beach to take shower before lunch, and there were no towels. Had to use face towel.. Also very negative impression for sunwing rep. He did not leave any notes on when return bus is picking us for the airport. So ee ran around asking and collecting piecies of information. Sunning app did not help at all. It did not show current stay. When we entered reservation number, it said that this trip is already linked. But did not show information.

Our opinion on this resort is as follows VERY clean VERY well laid out Handicap accessible VERY welcoming Beautiful beach Rooms are basic (needs a table) Food was fresh, nice selection Needs some work on entertainment Overall would DEFINITELY recommend!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Disappointing resort

The restaurant was very disappointing. Service was pretty much non existent. They did not have enough coffee cups so we went without coffee in the morning. The one day I did get coffee it was served in a dirty cup? There were also not enough plates & utensils. We saw people take spoons from the serving dishes to eat with. An hour and a half into the meal they ran out of certain dishes. We ordered food one day and after waiting an hour asked where the meal was and was advised they forgot  [... read more]to put in the order. Rooms were very clean but shortage of towels and face cloths. There was also a shortage of keys for the safe so we had to wait till people returning home turned them in. Shows were also disappointing and were mostly in Spanish. There were no English shows or interpretation of the shows. Pool activities were in very poor taste.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Awesome resort

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This was our second visit. The food in the buffet is excellent many choices lots of fresh fruit and veggies. The beach is great had a wonderful surf show while there. Several bars with great staff. The spa is excellent. Enjoyed many interactions with the awesome staff throughout the resort. Very close to Sousa were we visited daily. Enjoyed an evening at Jolly Rogers Bar and got to come home in a golf cart! We booked an ocean view and it was beautiful and such a g [... read more]reat location! We will definitely visit again!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Outstanding Resort

Our trip was cut short by a day due to flight problems. But the quality of this resort made up for it. Very clean, great food, very nice beach; but there are some peddlers. About 30 min from the airport. Very good Wifi coverage. Attentive staff. The pool, area was a bit busy of Sunday with local guests. Rest of the week was peaceful. Good activity around the pool each day. A few stray cats there and there, they dont bother you. Top notch waterfall excursion.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beware

A very pretty resort, also very large. We stayed for 16 days this fall, and quite enjoyed the resort, the food was quite good, lots of shuttle buses to get you around, and friendly staff. The down side is when you get to your room there is a list of items in the room, and they tell you on this list if any items are missing you will have to pay for them. We read over the list and thought to ourselves okay, but we are not going to take anything so no big deal. Well that was until we had checked ou [... read more]t had our baggage on the bus and where waiting to go to the airport, and then someone from the front desk came and asked who was in this room and he mentioned our room number. I said that is me and he said you will have to come with me. I followed him back to the front desk where I was told that I had stolen two spoons from our room and must return them or pay $4.00 US. I was flabergsted, I told him that I most definately had not stolen anything much less to spoons, but it fell on deaf ears. Not having any American cash I paid $210.00 Dominican Pesos (for which they gave me a receipt. Over the course of 16 days we left over $8,000.00 in Dominican Pesos ($200.00 Candian) in tips to various staff members at the hotel. Now I realize that we should have taken a compete inventory of the items in our room and reported that we never had any sppons in the first place I also realize on that basis it is my or our fault. But that is just plain nickle and diming, and as such the resort has lost a new client and we will never return nor will we ever recommend that place. So just be advised don't go there but if you do count and verify each and every item on the list or else.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Fantastic resort - zero complaints!

My girlfriend and I had and absolutely amazing week. The room was always clean, the resort was beautiful, the service was impeccable, the food was delicious and we also had great weather. My girl friend is vegan and she was able to find something to eat at every restaurant.

Playabachata Hotel: Deplorable conditions & horrendous accomodations

The stay was absolutely atrocious! That facility is a public health hazard, somehow ranked as a 4-star resort & spa. It is actually a 1.5 star (I'm being generous here) dump...it is literally one more wild bird or stray cat away from a disease outbreak. There are birds in the dining hall eating desserts off the buffet. There are stray cats coming up to tables begging for food. The rooms are in disrepair (please see attached photos). We had scammers trying to approach us by reception, requesting  [... read more]to see our Canadian ID and credit card to enter a raffle. We also had a power failure that lasted a few hours (clearly there were no back-up generators). Rooms were not retrofitted for wifi. Wifi was only available by reception (which was shotty at best). Linens were discoloured and nothing matched. Questioning sanitations practices was a daily occurrence. Customer service was severely lacking. We never once met our Sunwing representative. We were literally left to fend for ourselves to figure things out. Playa Bachata is known among the locals as one of the worst hotels in Puerto Plata. Very unprofessional. We had to leave and pay an extra $1000 to stay elsewhere at a facility that actually was safe & clean. And when we were trying to leave Playa Bachata to go to better accomodations they gave us such a hard time (check-out took almost 45 mins with them giving us a hard time) and tried to get us to sign a legally binding form in Spanish. We had to request to see the English version of the form. We refused to sign either form as it would try to absolve the hotel of all responsibilities. We left the hotel because it was subpar and unclean. Horrible experience. Please see photos of what I have described.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Casa Marina Heaven

Casa Marina Beach resort was amazing, rooms were cleaned what seemed like twice a day and was totally wonderful to come back to fresh towels and your bed made. The air conditioning in the room was especially great because after spending all day in the sun and warm air on the beach it felt good to have a cool sleep. Casa Marina Reef Resort: Awesome Resort

Everything was great. This has been our 10th time there. We highly recommend it. We like how clean the grounds are kept. Good service all around. The A la cartes we're awesome. We did a tour which included horseback riding. We had a great massage. The drinks were fantastic. The entertainment was ok. Thanks

Playabachata Hotel: Sub par at best

The word resort is used loosely. Most staff can't speak english. Barely any orientation on arrival.The only wifi they had was in the lobby none at the rooms which were sub par. Bathrooms were outdated, cracked and old. Door to roombalcony was broken so we couldn't go on it. The gardener mowed the lawn for what seemed like all day. It was near impossible to sleep in. Hotel staff were inappropriate and animals picked at the bland sub par food put out on the buffet. At checkout the reception couldn't even give a statement as print option was non existent. By the weekend the events at pool were SO loud, we wouldn't have slept if we didn't check out. We moved to Gran Ventana as a result and that deserves 4 star. Locals who found out we were at Playabachata all agreed it was bad and no place for tourists.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful and Friendly Resort

Great vacation. From start to finish. Rooms are large clean and modern. Upon arrival we were upgraded (no charge ) to a suite as the resort was not overly busy. The grounds are well kept and clean. The MANY pools are immaculate. It is very large as there are 3 hotels on the property and you have access to many of the sister hotels amenities. The best part of our stay though had to be the staff. We stayed at this resort many times and love everything about it. It is super clean, the food is good, the drinks are delicious, and everyone on staff goes above and beyond to make your stay a great experience.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Casa Marina Reef and Beach

This was my 9th time to Casa Marina had a fantastic time with family and friends. I realize October is off season so it was rather quiet. I don't remember having issues with the water like I did this time. Rarely had hot water.. lukewarm at best and the water pressure was very poor. There was so animation around the main pool like other times as well. There is not alot to do at night on resort unless you want to drink or go into Sosua If rest and relaxation is what your looking for this resort is it. Food was typical buffet food so if you get tired of it you can always venture into town and eat relatively cheap. Sosua beach is a must especially the Pina Colada in a fresh pineapple 🍍 April 2nd I am back fi8r 2 weeks.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice resort

This is a small resort with beautiful beaches. Grounds are immaculate. There is hand sanitizer everywhere. The rooms are clean but dated and could use a dresser of some sort. There’s not much to do after dinner and this resort is more for an older crowd. The food is good but is repetitive and needs more variety especially breakfast. We would recommend this resort but it would depend on who you’re recommending it to - would not recommend to younger couple.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Family Vacation Oct 22nd

Service was excellent Grounds clean and well kept Rooms clean Food very good selection Japanese and Mexican very good Italian not so good Al la cart reservations would be nice to book all in advance vs same day More food labels at the buffet needed Coffee/tea before 7 am would be nice for early risers Beach too much seaweed and garbage washing up on shore Domingo at the buffet was pleasant and very accommodating thank you !!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great vacation

Small to medium size resort that had a very nice decor and many nice features for you to enjoy. Fountain in the lobby and in the courtyard. Lots of seating in the lobby with a bar to boot. Very clean and well maintained grounds. Rooms were larger than expected. Very clean inside our room with balcony to enjoy morning coffee or a late night cap. Huge pool in the centre of the resort with lots of loungers to enjoy your sun, pool, and pool bars ( one swim up). We were a party of ten and never had a [... read more]ny problems finding loungers together by the pool or at the beach. Beach was beautiful with lots of sand and a long strip to have walks on. The water had an abundance of seaweed in most spots trying to enter/exit wasn’t ideal. The hotel had a crew to clean up the seaweed everyday off of the shore. They only had three ala carte restaurants italian, Japanese, and Mexican and the main buffet was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also had a buffet lunch by the pool and one day we had Mexican at the beach with some great drinks at the beach bar. Staff was remarkable. Probably one of my best vacations with the staff at this resort. From first registration and bell hops with quick courteous service. Waiters, waitresses, bar tenders and kitchen staff were top notch with service, gratitude, friendliness that kept up for the entire stay. Unbelievable that we had not one issue with any staffing whatsoever and that’s with a group of ten. The staff by far make up for the little flaws or inconsistencies of the resort. The choices for breakfast lunch and dinner were good with many choices for all types of palettes but were very repetitive. On most occasions the trays with food were not labeled at all. Our ocean front view really wasn’t but should of been called palm tree view looking through the palms you could see the ocean. But like I said before the staff were amazing and that definitely outweigh the minor flaws.

Playabachata Hotel: Great Resort

The food was great. We got the rooms we requested. Looks like they painted. Small resort but I liked that. No long walks to the pool,bar ,Lobyor ocean. Only real down side is no. Coffee maker or microwave in the room. This resort is kept very clean.
