Krystal Grand Los Cabos: Not very good and many inconsistencies!
I stayed at Krystal Grand with my boyfriend in February of 2018, and from the minute we arrived it was a disaster! We booked a deluxe ocean view which we did not receive as they were “100% booked and gave our room awayâ€. We were given a time share room which was extremely dated and the sliding door did not lock, which was an issue as we were on the first floor. We moved rooms the next day but were given a room in the residence building; the room was nice but not what we had booked.
The serv[... read more]ice around the adult pool was good and the bartenders were fantastic! However food service was slow and three days in a row we did not get the pizza we ordered and one day we were told that they ran out of guacamole...it’s Mexico! How do you run out of guacamole? Anyway food at the buffets was awful and a very poor selection, and food at the restaurants was poor. The Risotto restaurant (Italian) was horrific! The service at Risotto was awful and we watched other couples get up and leave during their meal. We ate at Ayami, the Japanese restaurant three times as the service there was great and the food was good and consistent!
Overall, I would never recommend this hotel, poor service, staff seems disgruntled, no info provided at check-in, you will not get what you paid for! The only positives here was the beach and weather and the grounds are clean.....stay somewhere else, we were very disappointed! If travel companies want to have satisfied customers then they will have no affiliation with this chain!

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Great Resort with Views to Spare
We booked this trip on Debbie Maguire's advice and couldn't be happier. We were in the Junior Suite Ocean View (Every room has an ocean view though) and upgrade to the prestige club which also got us upgraded to Options plus with Transat (with Debbie's help) The resort was beautiful, the food was great and the service was at the level we've come to expect at AM resorts. We didn't really utilize the prestige club services (buttler service etc.) because everything was already top notch and provide[... read more]d.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Fantastic resort
Hotel was beautiful room were very clean service was impeccable. Food was delicious drinks were top shelf and nightly entertainment was fun. Beach was rough and not able to swim but you could walk to a swimming beach in 15 minuets. The only problem with this resort is that it is far from Cabo San Lucas and Cabo San Juan. Taxis are expensive to either town.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Resort for everyone
Transpo: confusing pickup at airport. Loaded into taxi vans based on resort. We watched many load while we waited an hour. Given a taxi chit for return trip. Did not realise the chit had details for Transat welcome time.
Hotel Reception: fast and welcoming but no info was passed about Transat welcome. Easy check out. Friendly.
Room: very clean, well stocked with water, towels etc. Comfortable beds and AC. Quiet.
Food: Very good. Excellent selection of a la carte restos. Downside, resto[... read more]s filled quickly so placed on a waitlist.
Grounds: well kept, pools were great. Pleasant that there was no food being brought out of restos to mess up the grounds.
Beach: Very Unsatisfactory. Do not recommend resort for someone wanting a beach vacation. Very significant swath of weeds line the hotel’s entire beach front. Significant weeds also floating in the water. Most unpleasant. Not used.
Vacationeers: Good mix; families, old and young. A few partiers.
Party Atmosphere: Pool with bar and swim up bar were hub of activity during the day. Other pools quiet. There were shows in the evening but we did not attend.
Smoking: Smoking permitted outdoors, thus at the pool too. Not plesant for non smokers. Thankful no smoking is restos.
Airtransat: Good flights. Two reps worked in the reception area during the day. Welcome reception was not attended because it’s time and location was not communicated well.
Over all experience and vacation was very good but I would not recommend hotel due to the unplesant state of the beach front.

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun: Awesome place
Nicest resort around that region, on either side none of them were near as nice. Many parts to the resort were unlike any place I had seen before, i.e. hard liquor bottles in every room, nice mix of music by the pool, speakers and a DJ all day long at the pool

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Staff great hotel mediicre
The hotel rooms were dank and stuffy with constant mold smell. We had to move from the first room as it was unbearable and this view as supported by club people who were shocked at the smell, the second room was better but still not acceptable. We paid for Imperial service in a master junior suite and it was not worth it at all. The management of this hotel is poor but the service was excellent in the restaurants and bars with the food mostly okay. Our imperial master junior suite was not pro[... read more]perly made up as per advertised and I had to call frequently to get bathrobe, slippers, fruit basket and gift plus beach towels. The maid service was good. The entertainment was to hip hoppy and not enough good dancing music but weather was great and beach pretty good Alon with a great massage near the beach area. I will not go back again as management letting the place deteriorate with bad room smells.

I really enjoyed the smaller resort. Food was good, room was perfect and beach was nice. The staff were all very friendly. Yes we had to wait in line for buffet but it was not too long. We were a large group and they did a good job accommodating all of us. I had a hot water issue but it was dealt with within few hours.
Over all...fabulous vacation with my family! Would definitely come back to this resort! My only recommendation would be to have music playing at the pool and more fun pool parti[... read more]es.

The resort was beautiful! The swans, peacocks and pink Flamingos were beautiful! Good food at buffet and the Japanese restaurant was good, and the LaHaciende was really good. AC in my room leaked on my clothes making them wet and unwearable for a day. Felt like a second class citizen when I was asked to leave area of beach reserved for those who paid more $. Food just ok. I paid a lot because it was Feb break so I've had a lot better for a lot less $. Not terrible. But not great.

Buenaventura Grand Hotel and Great Moments: Just not satisfactory in so many ways
Here are the main grievances that I will cover:
• Check-in and Upselling
• The Rooms, Internet, Noise Level
• The Pool Chairs!!!!
• The “Adult Poolâ€!!!!
This is not to say there were not other issues, but for me these are the main ones. See also positive notes at the end.
Check-In and Upselling
Problems started right from the moment we arrived at the hotel. Right beside the front desk are 2 offices staffed with people who wear tags saying they work for the hotel but it [... read more]would seem they are there to get you to buy other services. During check-in, any questions we had about the hotel were referred to these people. You couldn’t even ask a simple question about what time dinner started. We still had not caught on, and I naively asked about the "adults only" pool. I was again referred to the other offices, and was told they could set us up with "preferred seating" at the adult pool (see further notes below on this subject: The “Adult Poolâ€!!!!). After check-in we asked about this at the desk we were referred to, only to be told this would be explained by their specialist who would be there in the morning. So by then we knew there was something fishy. We did go to see the "specialist" in the morning and sure enough, he was doing an up-sell. He talked about a “Vacation Package†(probably timeshare) – wait a minute, hadn’t we already bought a vacation package through Westjet? He wanted to give us a free breakfast and talk about it. Sure - the usual timeshare come-on.
So you see the connection: tired travellers just off their flight have all their questions redirected to a side office and are then told that in order to get answers you need to come back in the morning when the "specialist" is there (read Sales Guy). It seems the hotel has no qualms about trying to get weary travellers to give up more of their money for these additional “services†and “packagesâ€. In my opinion it is shameless. I have been coming to Mexico 25 years and have never seen such blatant attempts to get their customers to buy more from the minute they walk in the door just when they are most tired and vulnerable.
We talked to many other guests who were equally disgusted with this shoddy and unethical practice.
The Rooms, Internet, Noise level
Forget about internet in the rooms. Our package from West Jet did say there was wifi in the rooms, but neglected to say it doesn't work most of the time! We complained about that and also about the fact our room smelled and after 2 days we were moved to an ocean-front room (we paid for the upgrade). The internet still did not work properly. So we just gave up on that front.
The room was very nice until about 8:30 at night when the "entertainment" started at the pool. It was absolutely the loudest music I have ever heard and would probably be damaging to the eardrums. We had to close out balcony door and also needed earplugs just to survive. So much for the upgrade and listening to the surf. We called down and asked them to turn it down. They said they did but we did not hear any difference. The hotel claimed they had 400 guests and some people did like this music. So we went down and saw that there were only 8 people actually watching the show. What about all the parents trying to put kids to bed? What about people just trying to have a relaxing evening, what about those who paid a premium to hear the ocean (ie us) who have to the shut the balcony door and put ear plugs in????
This took much more complaining to both the hotel and West Jet. They did turn it down a little on follow-up nights but we still needed to close the balcony and wear earplugs. So we requested yet another room change, this time to the far side of the building. Finally, the noise was bearable. By then we were on day 6 of our 14 day vacation.
The Pool Chairs!!!!
This is perhaps one of the most hidden and bizarre aspects of their poor maintenance program. Every single lounge chair at each pool could not be placed properly in an upright position so you could read a book. In fact the mechanism for adjusting the chairs was in all cases mangled (see photos). Did they get the chairs at a fire sale or what??? This is not something you think to ask about in advance when going to a new hotel (ie – “can you actually adjust the lounge chairs?â€) So most people we talked to were very unhappy about this and had resorted to putting stones in the mangled mechanism so as to get a bit of an upright position. This was very, very common during out stay. The stones would fall out and you would have to keep putting them back in. It was quite a common discussion point, or joke, on the elevators or poolside. Every night the cleaning staff would remove the stones and then you would have to find some more the next day. My husband decided wood would be better, so he collected wood pieces from the ground in town (I kid you not), and then chiselled them to the right dimension with sharp stones he found in the beach. The wood pieces were very popular and we ended up making some for other guests and also giving ours away when we left. I know this sounds incredulous, but look at the pictures! You couldn’t make this stuff up!
The "Adult Pool"!!!!
The website states that there are “Three heated pools with adults only areasâ€. This is quite misleading. We thought there was an adults-only pool which we assumed would be a quiet area. This is not so. There is a small area or “pool†with submerged lounge chairs which is what they refer to as the adults-only area. It is approximately 3 meters by 10 with no room for swimming. The actual swimming pools all allow kids so there is no actual, quiet, adults-only swimming pool. This was very disappointing as this was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Other guests told us they had the same misconception.
At all the pools, you are subjected to noise off and on all day of various sorts, including pool aerobics and pool-side bingo. If you want peace and quiet, this is not the place to come.
On the positive side
• Non-management staff are friendly and try to do a good job. None of the above is their fault. It is management.
• On another note, they have established an exemplary recycling program including organics, plastics and paper. This was very good to see.
• The place is kept relatively clean.
