We flew with sunwing. The flight to Cuba and the landing there is terrible to the point we were not sure that the plane was in one piece when we landed. Terrible captain The trip by bus to the hotel was good. The stay was great. Fantastic pools, nice beach and an amazing bedroom. The bedroom had a very large bed and even an Nespresso style coffee machine. Great bathroom. The food was more than decent, specially for cuba. Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Some major sanitary conditions

Let me start by saying the beach was perfect, rooms were very nice, food was as varied as they could make it. Staff are super sweet ,very appreciative and hard working. Danny, I must commend..he took care of our every need. I however have to state that there was no hand soap at any time in the hotel bathrooms which are used frequently by both staff and clients. I checked both the men’s and women’s bathrooms and not a drop of soap could be found. ( nor was there any type of hand gels)Also som [... read more]e days there was no toilet paper. Especially being post Covid this is just not acceptable. Our last two days of 5 we also had no soap refilled to our room and we ran out of toilet paper. I also have to state that the dining room was full of flies everywhere. Lastly because this hotel did not spray for misquitos we were eaten alive especially in their open air lobby. We could not go to any of the evening shows that were held in the lobby so as a result we did not get to enjoy any of that. To say we had over 100 bites would not be a lie. Itchy bites that kept us up at night itching despite all the deet spray I brought and used! They did a smoke spray one evening however that did next to nothing. I imagine they should have been spraying nightly to get rid of the mosquitoes .They also ran out of bottles of water which Alex ,our SunWing rep strongly advised us to use for brushing our teeth not to mention for hydration.When we approached “Ariel” he had no suggestions for us except we spend our time trying to track down our maid to ask for bottles. Our maid btw was excellent and 100% she would have restocked our room with water, toilet paper etc if it was available. It appeared to us we were inconveniencing him by asking about getting bottles of water. Not courteous nor helpful. This is not the staffs fault that there are shortages…however you can no longer classify yourself as a 5 star resort when the very basics for health and safety cannot be provided. My sister and I both returned home very sick. It’s not hard to see how that happened when no one was able to adequately hand wash. I would not recommend this hotel until soap is provided in guest rooms and all lobby bathrooms, until they manage their fly and mosquito problems and are able to supply and replenish clients with bottled water.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Beautiful hotel

It was truly one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen . The hotel had a great open air lobby with a piano player in the evening, unfortunately could not sit there for long due to the mosquitoes!!! They did not do enough to control that situation. I do understand it was mosquitoes season The food , well it is Cuba ..They ran out of lots of items daily , butter milk cheese “ect” Rooms were very nice and cleaned well. The worst for me unfortunately was they had no hand sanitizer or so [... read more]ap in most of all of the washrooms on the property . Being post Covid this is unacceptable hundreds of people sharing the serving spoons at the buffet. I’m also worried the staff and especially kitchen staff were unable to wash their hands as well ! They also ran out of bottled water the last 2 days we were there . Which created a problem because they did not suggest using tap water in the room to brush your teeth.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: MEMORIES FLAMENCO - CAYO COCO CUBA

This was my 7th trip to this hotel and my last. The only positive was that the room was clean. Other than that there is nothing positive to say. Buffet was hot and steaming with no air conditioning. Extremely poor selection of food. Bars did not provide anything but rum. No Coke or Pepsi or Ginger-Ale or Sprite. Our bar fridge in the room was empty. No pop just 2 small bottles of water and only if you asked for water. Took 4 phone calls and 2 1/2 hours to wait for water and extra pillows [... read more]. I am handicapped and usually can walk with a cane but the grounds were terrible and I ended up spending 4 days in the room. My husband had to get me food at the buffet and bring it to me. I asked for a room as close as possible to the buffet but my request was ignored. I couldn't take a shower because the room had a high tub and I couldn't get in to it. If you are handicapped than I don't recommend this hotel at all. Horrible experience and was hugely disappointed in the deterioration of this once great hotel.

Hotel Mojito: Amazing Resort

This hotel is dated however, it is kept very clean and the grounds are meticulous! The staff are outstanding. In the 12 years we have been going to Cuba, this is honestly one of the best resorts as far as staffing goes. Doesn't matter how crazy busy it gets, the staff are always smiling and always there to take care of you. The beach is amazing!!! The water is definitely gorgeous! The beach is always clean and there are always palapas available.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Relaxing Getaway

Overall resort layout was great. Many areas to lounge with pools on 3 levels. Beach access was limited with rock close to the pathway/bar, you have to walk down the beach a bit to get a chair, so bar was not easily accessible. The food was typical and always a good qty with various options, as picky eaters we managed just fine (be aware there is a lot of flies), yes we have flies but what you would expect…it’s x10. Service in the snack bar and buffet was great most of the time, in the lobby  [... read more]not so great. Overall we had a good time, it was a nice place to relax but should mention the music was really loud on the middle level daily close the snack bar.

Melia Costa Rey: Nice new resort

everything was great, grounds, rooms etc. only draw back there is stairs from lobby to pool area & buffet the elevator was not working would not suggest to anyone with wheelchair, walker and cannot climb long stairs. Can tell shortage of food in Cuba

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful beach

It was a stressfull holiday for me, the flies on the food was horrible.My first 3 days we stayed in building 24 we had no hot water , no water pressure plus cockroaches in our room . The girls in the dining room were not friendly and had attitude. On the plus side the grounds are wonderful the beach is amazing but that was my first visit and my last. After many complains we went to building 23 much better hot water and pressure but there was bugs in our room i couldn’t wait to come home. Gran Muthu Imperial: Cuba 2023 Grand Muthu Imperial

Small resort, very clean. Food was as you would expect for Cuba. You won’t starve but very limited selection, and oh my the flies!! Beach left much to be desired full of seaweed, and a good distance from the resort. Had a great week of beautiful weather. I won’t go back to this resort simply because if the beach situation.

Melia Cayo Coco: Nice but not a 5 star

Good service and the staff are incredibly friendly however this is definitely not a 5 star resort. The pool is filthy and also has broken tiles all over, the gazebos around the pool are falling apart and have exposed nails all over them, they’re also never cleaned and are filthy. However the beach is beautiful if you prefer that. The food is meh, not great, but not terrible either. The upgraded rooms are very dated, but certainly not bad at all, they’re kept clean.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Horrible experience from start to the finish

Sunwing should be ashamed to send customers to this resort. The flights, hotel, food, customer service, drinks ( lack of) contributed to the worst trip we ever experienced! We will be looking for a refund! As well as formally entering a complaint about the deplorable conditions we experienced. I gathered video and pictures of the mould infested buildings, the broken glass in the hallways, blood dried to the floor, ceilings falling in due to water damage, no air conditioning in our room for 3 day [... read more]s ( temp inside the room was 29 deg C), the fight in the lobby with hotel staff and a guest, the flies covering the food and the lack of water to bath in and to drink. I want to add that we expected some difference in the Cuban and Canadian standards but this was completely over the top!

Hotel Playa Coco: Potential

This hotel definitely has potential. Unfortunately when we arrived though they closed everything we were excited for. There were Maybe 20 people at the resort so they closed the night shows and all food places except for 2. We were so disappointed. Nothing to do in the evening without night entertainment. We feel we should have been offered compensation for everything being closed.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Incredible Vacation!

We visited May 1 to May 8, 2023 with our family and another family. The resort and food were great and the beach was beautiful. The entertainment team was exceptional, having been to many other resorts it was honestly the best we have experienced. We are definitely missing the afternoon poolside zumba and theme parties led by TNT and Hugo, it was a blast every time. We would like to thank all of the staff for an amazing vacation!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful Vacation

Memories Caribe is an awesome resort. It is easy to get to the lobby, pool, beach and buffet. The beach is stunning with soft sand and crystal clear turquoise water and has a nice gradual entrance. Great for long strolls! I have been to Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria and this beach is by far the best! I stayed for 2 weeks and had beautiful weather (36-40°C) everyday except for 1 day when it rained for about 2 hours. My room was very clean with a renovated bathroom and shower that had great pres [... read more]sure with hot water except for 2 days when the whole resort had no hot water. The food was really good. Fresh bread, omelets, pancakes potatoes, bacon(most days) cold cuts, cheeses and fruits. (No eggs first 2 days). Chicken, pork, fish, rice, pastas, pastries and ice cream for lunch and suppers. Snack bar serves great grilled sandwiches, chicken, tuna, ham and cheese, fries and occasionally hamburgers and hot dogs. Ketchup sometimes! Lobby bar is enclosed, air conditioned and serves great drinks, juices and coffees and has a live band most nights. Cuba day was great with authentic cuban cuisine served at the beach for lunch! All in all an amazing vacation. Expect shortages... it's Cuba! Enjoy the culture, the music, the people and relax! 🌴😊🍹

It had excellent staff who were very helpful and prompt at dealling withneeds and issues we needed help with. The resolt was clean indide and the prprttu out side as well. Note my etesight is poor and may not always write well. Beach was very clean and beautyfull. Pool was excellent.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Not a good stay

I would never visit this resort again. The hotel room air conditioner didn’t work. The buffet was disgusting with flies on every piece of food. Cockroaches running everywhere. The food even raw chicken being undercooked. No cocktails were available except for the very basic. Never been to a resort that had absolutely nothing in the mini fridge in the room. A lot of staff rude and unhappy. Would love to ask for all my money back because all I wished for was to be back home but I know that won†[... read more]™t happen

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great Stay

Was there May 1st . Beautiful resort . 3 nice pools . Rooms need some TLC , but are clean . Don't book superior ocean view just book standard ocean view and this will give you a room in the white cement buildings There are also ocean front rooms that are really close to the beach . We had to be moved from the superior wooden bungalows , small , gloomy and our AC did not work . We changed rooms no problem . Beach and ocean is beautiful but very shallow so not really suitable for swimming ,more f [... read more]or wading in .There are food shortages but we found lots of tasty dishes to eat .I was happy with the food. Many flies in the buffet but many other resorts have them as well . Loved the Cuban and Italian restaurants, they were delicious ( try the pizza! ) . There are noseeums that bite early morning and dinner time till the sunsets . Many people walking around with bodies covered in bites . I only got a few , my daughter was covered in bites . Bring lots of deet. Resort was at about half capacity . Good service. Try the iced coffee at the front bar ! We just love the Cuban people. They work so hard to make your stay memorable. Lots of seashells . I recommend bringing water shoes as some areas along the shore have sharp coral and shell pieces .

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Lovely Resort

We spent an idyllic 7 days at the Grand Aston, from April 15-22.. We completed much research via FB groups and travel review sites prior, so we didn't experience any unpleasant surprises. We were fortunate not to encounter any shortages that had a negative impact on our experience. We were prepared for the worst, and actually enjoyed the food here much more than our pre-Covid trips to Cuba. Facilities are beautiful! Cleaners and gardeners work hard to maintain everything, and it shows. The g [... read more]rounds, beach and indoor areas are well designed and very modern. We loved that the main buffet is indoors, as one of the issues we've encountered at other Cuban resorts is open-air main buffet with birds flying through and landing near/on food . Beer was delicious and cold! The beach is wonderful and has lots of palapas and loungers. The blue loungers are much more comfortable than the striped ones. We spent a little time at one of the pools when a bed was open. The striped loungers are used at the pools and are really uncomfortable. We slept surprisingly well on a comfortable bed in a room that didn't have noise issues from neighbors or hallway (solid wood door, no gap at bottom). We enjoyed all of our meals, including the main buffet, the Asian, Italian and Texmex a la cartes, churros and Cuban food on the beach, stirfry at the beach bar, and burgers at the snack bar. Bring your own cups for water and you can self fill them at the lobby bar or gym, or ask any bartender to. This a pretty quiet resort, not for those that want to party in to the late night. It was perfect for some true R&R and couple time. Special appreciation for the morning lobby bar staff - great service and delicious capuccinos, lattes, coffee - and the lovely lady at the gym that kept my husband and other patrons motivated and trying new things. We were happy and healthy, and for the first time can say we have found a Cuban resort we will return to. Partially that we were lucky to be there when there wasn't a serious shipment or supply issue, and mainly because the facilities and staff are wonderful. No regrets!
