The Hotel staff, ( dining area ) were extremely friendly, helpful, and extremely attentive with myself, but most importantly my LO one employee imparticularly would go above and beyond to always greet my son the 100 times he seen him! Thank you Frandy!
The water park area was the show of the hotel for my LO, we spent most of our time there! Unfortunately the room AIR CONDITIONING never really worked, the room was extremely hot to the point of us getting out the shower and sweating right away,[... read more] I called customer service 3 times before finally having someone show up. But unfortunately nothing really got fixed as the moment the gentleman left the AC turned off an hour later, the following day inwent to reception and I was told I would get someone to check.. but unfortunately no one ever came. The room service was amazing, food was delicious. Not as much variety to choose from, but whatever was there was great.. the dining room food for dinner was extremely bland, same dinner everyday with only a few changes to give it the impression that there was different variations of food, we 100% preferred room service rather then sweating to get our food.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Horrible resort
The rooms of the resort are so dainty. Definitely not a 5 star hotel. Would never come back here. The hotel lacks English speaking workers. Bunch of locals everywhere. Buffet is the same selection of food everyday.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Honeymoon
We recently stayed at the Ambar for our honeymoon and it was nothing short of a great week! The grounds are gorgeous and so well kept, the staff were friendly and quick to help out whenever you needed. The rooms were very nice and recently updated. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: 10 years ago it was amazing
Staff and employees are absolutely amazing.
The resort is falling apart though. Ceiling leaking with water, due to condensation. Built poorly. Showers are small , jets don’t work in the tubs . Sometimes there is no hot water. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, they should probably flip the mattress. Some rooms hardly any air conditioning. I guess you get what you pay for unfortunately

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very disappointed.
Hotel room had a coffee machine but no coffee or tea was ever available to make.
Food at the buffet was questionable. Seeming to be recycled from meal to meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner meats were always dry giving a clear indication not much was being made fresh.
The juices made available for breakfast were made of the leftover fruit and there was no freshly squeezed orange juice to be had. It was the powdered variety.
There was no entertainment other than some not so talented vocalists a [... read more]couple of times during the week I was there with recorded music having been played on the other days.
We got sand fly bites on our legs at the beach so that became off limits having resort to the pool only.
As a result of this very bad experience I have decided that All inclusive vacations will no longer be my choice of holiday.
The Air Canada shuttle bus ride from the airport to the hotel was disappointing. Once onboard, the guide informed us that they would be making several stops at different hotels, and it would be a total of 2 hours and 45 minutes to arrive at Bahia Principe (the last resort on the trip). The toilet on the bus did not flush, so there was a urine smell.
(Note: the return shuttle bus from BP to the airport was better as it was direct but still took 2 hours. It was a van, so no toilet and therefor[... read more]e no urine smell.)
During the week, it was hard to find the Air Canada rep (Carlos) at the resort. Resort staff always reported seeing him "somewhere" on site. He was supposed to be in his office 9:30 am - 2 pm but was never there. I overheard other guests say they had been looking for him for 2-3 days. On our 3rd day, the resort staff tracked him down for us and told him to come meet with us in the lobby. When he arrived, he told us he doesn't do an orientation, and that Guest Services could answer all our questions. I asked how to know the time the return bus was leaving for the airport on May 30 and he said it was 6:10 am. I told him we weren't flying out until 6:00 pm, but he said that he was sure that the bus was leaving the resort at 6:10 am, as it takes a long time to get to the airport with the road construction, etc. I later learned there is a binder that lists all the airlines departure flights and the associated shuttle bus departure times from the resort. It showed our bus was departing at 12:20 pm. So, this particular AC rep really wasn't helpful at all.
Upon arrival at BP Tulum, the check-in process for every person in the line up seemed to take a long time. At 3:15 pm the room was still not ready, so staff said to go to the buffet. At 3:45 pm a trolley drove us and our baggage to the room, where the housecleaning staff were still inside finishing up.
Throughout the week there was a outside sewage smell that seemed particularly strong near the villas in section 33. It didn't smell inside the room with everything closed, but I didn't want to sit outside because of it.
The resort is very clean, and the entire grounds are meticulously groomed. Every one of the staff work very hard to ensure that their guests have anything they want, and are having a good time.
The all-inclusive wrist band also acts as the door key, so you do not need to worry about losing the key, and it tracks the time and each person that has entered the room. There is also an in-room safe that you program with your own digital code.
The room was spacious and nice with an in-room mini-fridge that was replenished every day with beer, soft drinks and bottled water.
I found the beach to be disappointing (narrow in spots, rocks, clumps of seaweed), so not very good to walk along. Therefore, I spent most of my time at the pool area.
Yukutan Buffet - Although somewhat repetitive each day, there was a good variety of food, and there were several stations to watch your specific food order cooked in front of you. (I did not eat at the other restaurants, so cannot comment).
The waiters at the dining area of the Yukutan buffet were great, and they gave the guests 5-star service.
However, as the Yukutan buffet was open to the outside, it was quite humid and sometimes uncomfortable to sit in the dining area. There were birds flying throughout the buffet restaurant and landing on chairs and tables. The staff were kept busy cleaning up bird poop off the tables. If someone left their table to go back to the buffet's food prep area, the birds would instantly be on their plate scavenging the leftovers.
In addition, there were a lot of coatis that were not afraid of humans, and they would get uncomfortably close. One even came into the dining area of the Yukutan buffet restaurant and put its paw on a patron who was sitting at the table! Eeek!
In general, I would recommend this resort as it was relaxing, clean, and provided good value. The downfalls are the lengthy time it takes to get between the airport and the resort, the slow check-in and room access, and disappointing condition of the beach.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Not as expected
Hi,
I'm afraid my review of Bahia Principe in Punta Cana is not so great.
This was my third time at same resort. I decided to go third time to bring my sister, who has never been anywhere, hoping she would have a wonderful time.
I have to say that I was quite disappointed, not for the atmosphere but more regarding the food, hotel cleanliness/attentiveness, and most of the staff there.
Hotel room: there was a coffee machine and two mugs but never any coffee or tea for us to make. The day bef[... read more]ore we left, I received a phone call from front desk asking if our stay was good or anything we were not happy about. I told them about there not being any coffee or tea in room. They apologized as I told them we had to bring some coffee and tea bags, suger, etc, from the front lobby. To this, they sent coffee/tea,suger on our last day there. The room floors were not washed or swept once. I almost slipped on the floor as they were greasy and slippery. On the last day, I had finally made myself some tea in my room only to be disgusted by there being a small piece of paper towel in the mug along with smudged lipstick on the inside of mug, yes, on inside of mug. This led me to believe that mugs were not washed properly and had only been wiped down with paper. Bathtub was not washed once during our stay as it was left as is after we had used it each day.
The food at buffets were mostly "salads" of different types, which were neither tasty or fresh. The solid food such as snapper, pork, chicken were all dry and seemed saved from day before. Lunch was made up of leftovers from breakfast and dinner was made up of leftovers from lunch. It became obvious to me that cleanliness and hygiene were not practiced at this resort as both my sister and I went home with a stomach infection for which we are now on antibiotics for.
Service at buffets from waitstaff was uncaring. All staff was not happy, cheerful, attentive. We felt as if we were bothering them the few times we asked for coffee. Staff always seemed and looked bitter towards guests, no matter if it was at buffets or front lobby or bars. Not very inviting at all.
On top of all this, both my sister and I have been bitten by sand mites on the beach. Other guests have also been bitten as well. Because of this, we had only spent three days on the beach and the rest at the pool. Not good for resort not warning people about the sand mites. Other guests thought the bites on their legs were from mosquito bites but then realized they were actually from sand mites. This had caused my sister and I to stop going on the beach. Very disappointing as we specifically took this trip to enjoy the beach.
I believe that Covid-19 has really done a number on everyone, but when it comes to the public spending their money and making time to go on vacation to this resort, only to be disappointed and treated rudely was not my idea of a nice vacation. Both my sister and I came home feeling disgusted and disappointed, not to mention ill from stomach infection.
This was my third time at this resort. The first two times were before Covid hit and were great. But this third time around after Covid, it was extremely disappointing. I will never go back to this resort as I feel they don't appreciate the public who spends their money on something where they are not cared about and looked after properly. Very disappointing.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Went during the wet season
First off, we went during what they called their “wet seasonâ€, even though when I looked it up it didn’t say much about that. So when we arrived it was raining and gloomy for the first few days. Regardless of that, the resort was beautiful, very clean and always being maintained. They had the Orkin man come it seemed like every few days and spray. The pool was clean and beautiful, they cleaned it every morning and it was very large so you weren’t always right next to someone. The food wa[... read more]s delicious and fresh, there was always a large variety to choose from at the buffet. I often found i enjoyed tne food more at the buffet than the a la cartes. The wait staff at the buffet were generally very nice and helpful. There were a few occasions where we had to track down someone else who wasn’t in our section so that we could get more water. In particular, a waiter named Marvin was not very kind, if you didn’t tip him first day he ignored you, even if you sat in his section. We learned quickly that if we saw him, to sit somewhere else.
The rooms were clean and linens smelt fresh. The air conditioner worked amazing the whole trip, which was a relief because the humidity was brutal. Plenty of areas in the resort were not kept cool, including the lobby where you wait for your shuttle. I brought a rechargeable fan with me and it was a lifesaver. Especially during some a la carte where the air was weak at best. A tip regarding the shops, try the ones on the luxury side, we stayed on the grand side and there were two shops that were ridiculously over priced and did not negotiate price well. For example I bought two bags that would have been $70 and the guy wouldn’t budge any lower than $67. Well a few days later we found the luxury side shops, those same two bags starting price were $60 for both and she would have would them to me for $50.
Regarding the beaches, there were three that I knew of on the resort, the nude beach, the little cove and the larger beach. We went to the cove and the larger one, they smelt of dead fish, the water cleared up after the rain stopped but I just couldn’t stand the smell so I stayed with the pool.
Also, you don’t need to exchange to local currency, the staff and shops deal with American dollars and shops will take card but will give you a deal if you use cash.
The sun is extremely harsh with uv index up to 14 by 11am so don’t forget your sunscreen. Apply it often, I still burnt while applying spf 50 every hour, I moved up to every 45 min during the hours of 11-3 and was better. Don’t forget a lip balm with spf as well.
The drinks are made very well too, there’s definitely no skimping on ingredients.
Overall, I probably would not return to this resort because when I go to a beach resort, I expect a beautiful beach and was quite disappointed. If you don’t care about the beach then you will be satisfied with this resort. I did hope for better entertainment but there were no special nightly shows, basically just a person playing music or singing. If that’s all you want, this resort is for you.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Honest review from luxury side
Honest review for the Luxury side! We saw the good and bad reviews before coming so we were prepared but we also were just happy to get away without our children.
First off....the app! We actually found it very user friendly and were able to book all our a la cartes with no problem at all. We checked in ahead of time and when we arrived they just had to give us our bracelets and take us to our room. They even set up our WIFI which works amazing anywhere in the hotel or on the beach.
The [... read more]room! We were in building 26 2nd level on the road side however we did get partial ocean view. We didn't ask for a room ahead of time so it was a pleasant surprise. It was quiet inside the room luckily because the road noise gets really loud especially the trucks. We met someone who were in 25 and the noise could be heard inside which can be an annoyance if you're a light sleeper. Our bed was more firm which I didn't mind but my husband didn't like it. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as body lotion (I didn't bring my own). The housekeeper was great, always went over and above tidying our room. The bar fridge guy was amazing and gave us whatever we wanted. We always tipped a few bucks each day for both.
The food! We were impressed and disappointed at the same time. First a la carte was Picasso, our server Shawnie was amazing and so polite. The food was better than I was expecting as a whole, we got the chefs special which was tenderloin with shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes and veg. We ordered medium rare and it came out still mooing 🄠The manager Mr. Fisher was quick to notice and replaced our meals at which point it was over cooked but the flavor was good. The next one was Riddiccio which was disappointing, everything just tasted the same and desperately needed salt. The Knife was next and it was great. Now I got the salmon because I had so much beef the 2 previous dinners and my husband got the brisket. I loved my meal, the salmon was flavourful and my husband like his but he said the bark was too burnt to enjoy and we like the crispy bits. The next was Dolce Vita and it was the worst for us. Our apps were great, i got the nisoise salad and my husband got the carpaccio. The pizza was awful it had so much cheese and dough it was off putting we actually felt awful and left. I had the lazagna and it was underwhelming and cold in the middle. We were excited for this one too. The Japanese tepenyaki was really fun and the food was great, definitely our top 3 next to the Jamaican night at the buffet and #1 being the Jerk Hut it is worth the 20min walk from the luxury side.. The buffet is great, a lot of options for everyone. The desserts as a whole basically sucked aside from the fried ice cream. As a whole we ate great
The beach! It was small and the water was very shallow however we brought floaties and could float in the shallow water. The is a couple of pelicans that dive bomb fish and they have no care if you are close. Scared me right off my floatie lol the grand side is much bigger but we wanted the quiet of Adults Only. If you don't indulge in Jamaicas greenery you may get annoyed with being asked especially for men. I never got asked but my husband did about 20 times. If you are coming alone as a woman, maybe bring a fake wedding band, we met a wonderful lady traveling alone and she was getting approached a lot which irritated her a lot so she came down to the beach to avoid it.
The pools! They were clean and well maintained (we enjoy the beach more). There was some model convention so the resort was swarming with ity bity bikinis and the party pool was loud but if you went to one area closer to the beach you can get your quite. There seemed to be a lot of opinions but they didn't bother us. There is a place for everyone in my opinion.
The bars! We LOVED the beach bars. We found they always tried to make the best drink for you. I was able to fill my insulated water bottle with Pina coladas and the slushiness never melted. Best thing we brought next to floaties. The lobby bar wasn't our favorite, far too strong.
The luxury lobby! We avoided it after the first day when we got bombarded with the "welcome breakfast" invite. We said no so many times and they just don't let up. They were even calling the room which kinda annoyed us.
The staff were okay. We stayed at the Royalton White Sands and the staff was so warm and welcoming. We didn't get that same feel, there were only a couple of people who stood out and that was Natalie and Kalvin from the Japanese place. Our housekeeper warmed up a little near the end and the life guards on the luxury side were friendly but as a whole it wasn't what we were used to. I'm sure this varies depending on your personal experience.
As a whole it was good, we came to relax in a beautiful country and we did just that. If you are not a fan of humidity then go before June because it really affected us.
Overall it's a 4 out of 5 for us. Like I said we still had an amazing time together since that's what was really important to us and we met some other amazing people well stay in touch with. It's all about your attitude.

The hotel rooms are old and need of repair. They are doing renovations. Our room was ocean front and damp and musty smelling. We transferred to the newer building at 56 dollars a day more. Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Decent but not great
Food: 3 star
Room: 3 star
Service 4 star
Overall: 3star
Food is decent when it comes to fine dining, but buffet quality is sub par. Food is mostly salty and lacks other flavours. Don’t even try their Japanese fine dining… no where close.
Service: people are decently nice there. English proficiency is not the greatest though. Lots of misunderstanding.
Room: the rooms are the biggest problems. Their resort design is flawed. The cart paths are too close to the hotel rooms. You can he[... read more]ar the noises of the carts going by. Their hotel lobby carry’s the sound throughout the whole building. If people walk across your floor, you can hear them very clearly. If you have young kids, you might want to avoid being on the main floor as it’s quite noisy. Mosquitoes are very scary there. Not much is done to help with mosquitoes in the rooms.
Beaches are ok. But it is not deep enough. Beach is pretty crowded.
Their cocktails are delicious. The water park is great for kids. Overall resort atmosphere is decent.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Great value
This was our 3rd stay at the Aquamarine, this trip 11 nights. Resort continues to be well maintained, grounds lovely, room clean , air conditioner works well, shower water a bit on the hot side but managed. The pool is getting a bit tiried, tiles missing, handrails a bit wobbly. Half of the pool chairs were brand new and the other half well used and dirty ( black mold looking ? ) and really should no longer be used. Pool guests and staff got very rowdy in the afternoons it was like a college [... read more]spring break, some of the activities with the staff and guests were questionable , ie: extreme twerking! During our stay the main pool got closed twice for the day due to guests throwing up in the pool. For this reason only we will re consider staying again at the Aquamarine , I felt bad for the senior guests whom likely only stay at the pool, it was not relaxing .Beach is fabulous, tram and/or walking to the resort gets to be a nuisance. No area close to beach for breakfast . No premium alcohol at any bars any longer, no bathrobes or slippers. The app is great for booking dinners. Restaurants were great , breakfast buffet same each day , could have some variety from day to day as this is the only option for breakfast. No yogurt at the buffet and didn’t care for shared jam and Peanut butter jars! Overall great value for amount paid. Perhaps the time of year will dictate the age group of the guests.
